I've only gotten takeout here, but the food is delicious!!!! I love love their soup selection, and the fact that you get the choice to add noodles to it! My favorite is the sesame ginger chicken soup! it is so delicious! chicken is tender, and the soup is savory with a nice ginger kick! I can never finish it in one sitting, so I leave it over night, then add water to heat it up the next day and it still has all its flavor!! Also love their century egg noodles, they were so delicious!!! Also their minced meat rice! with tea egg! yum!!! *warning, all the names i'm saying is my own translation of their Chinese name, because I've never eaten here, so I've only ordered from their online menu, which is all in Chinese!! That's the only complaint I have, put up English menus online!!!! It was rather difficult trying to figure out what I wanted from the pictures... and guessing what the words sounds like then calling in and order. But the trouble was well worth it! Came here for Mother's Day as that's what my Taiwanese Aunt wanted to have. I personally love it here as well. Plates are small, kinda like tapas. First time I visited this place - after My uncle told me that this is a branch location of a famous restaurant in Taiwan. Well, I was a bit underwhelmed, as I was hoping that the food would be a lot better. It was pretty good, but I was really expecting amazing food. We ordered the Taiwanese fried rice, basil eggplant, chicken rolls, house stir fry, pigs shank and feet, and house rice sticks. The chicken rolls were some of the best I had, but nothing else was exceptional. Don't get me wrong, the food here is good - like a 3.5 and not a 3. It is just compared to the many great Asian restaurants in town, it was not a dazzler. Worth a visit for sure however. It did remind me of Taiwan. It's a hole in the wall kind of place. If you are looking to eat some authentic tasting Taiwanese food, this would be a good spot to stop by. Came here for a quick dinner with my mom. We had a groupon for it and the waiter told us that we couldn't order from the cafe menu, only the business menu. Welllllll, that was a bummer. Eh, besides being clean and nice looking on the inside, the food is not memorable. I know the bay area is rather a taiwanese food desert but i'd rather try my other options. I ordered the beef noodle soup, the taiwanese sausage and an appetizer of sweet rice balls in egg soup. Again, unfortunetly nothing was special or tasty. I came here for the first time a couple weeks back, and a second time today. I think it's really hard for me to judge Taiwanese food in America because I've had legit Taiwanese food in Taiwan. & honestly, nothing compares. really. nothing... I wouldn't travel all the way to milpitas to eat here, i would only come here if i was near the area. The ambiance is cute, they try to imitate the traditional taiwanese country side. Benches and all. :P They have the popular railroad bento box, that a lot of middle class taiwanese people use to get when they sat on a train. I like their chicken bento box more than the pork, I felt like the pork came with one to many bones. Their cabbage and shredded pork was yummy, a bit sour and sweet at the same time. The pepper beef was tender and a bit spicy. The fried intestine was fatty as usual. Their barrel rice is really really yummy. I highly recommend it. (: For dessert I always get the brown sugar and fen guo shaved ice. My boyfriend really didn't like it...but I love it. The brown sugar syrup is soooo refreshing. Fen guo...is an extremely sticky mochi like jelly. It's light in flavor, but the brown sugar makes it delicious. If you don't like sticky/slimy stuff...I...don't think you should get this dessert. We saw this place under construction and finally had a chance to try it for dinner. The décor was strange since you sat on a picnic bench. I'm assuming they tried to mimic the outdoor setting even though you were indoor. The food wasn't bad. Do not get the chow nian gao. The noodles were mushy. We returned it back and the restaurant was nice enough to give us another stir fry noodle dish. The seafood mushroom soup was standard, but wasn't anything special. I liked the fish with garlic and ginger and the hakka tofu since the tofu was spongy. The hakka stir fry special was interesting since it had squid, tofu, celery, pork, and black bean sauce. The food took a while to come out too. The best part about the meal was the dessert! You have to come here for the shaved ice. We had the saved ice with the various beans and jellies. So delicious! It's a good size dessert. We also had the yam cold soup with shaved ice. We thought this was an appetizer since it was in the section. Service was not great. We chose to share table but it was pretty awkward for all parties...even the staffs. I'm no Taiwanese food expert, but I enjoyed this place very much! My boyfriend and I ordered the Wan Luan Pork Hock, beef noodle soup, and minced pork over rice. Pork Hock was da bombbbbbb and the sauce with it was great (tasted a lot like teriyaki to me but was better!). The beef noodle soup I enjoyed, the broth was packed with lots of flavor and the noodles were in comparison to ramen noodles. The minced pork over rice was good as well, a little too much sauce at times where I had to take a break from eating but was still delicious. read more

Not a lot of options for Taiwanese food, so I am pretty happy with this place. They go strong on the flavors so you can recognize the food as uniquely Taiwanese, but in a way it takes away from the authenticity of it a little bit. For example I always love the meatballs with the glutinous skin, but the sauce is too sweet. The sticky rice in bamboo stalk has a really sweet sauce on top as well. The chow mein has a lot of sacha sauce on it, which I like, but it also makes it quite oily. I think if you had these dishes in Taiwan, they would not be as sweet or oily. But I can see they do it for mass appeal. What I have only found here and why I like coming to this place, is the jello-like dessert with black sugar syrup, fen-guo. I have always loved it, and I don't find it anywhere else. read more

Stopped by last weekend hoping to get takeout to bring back to Berkeley, but we found out you have to spend at least $25 in order to use a credit card here. We didn't have enough cash on us, and no debit card. The person behind the counter was EXTREMELY RUDE -- "You have to order over $25." We asked if we could order two things to make the check go over $25, but quickly decided not to and let them know nicely. This person snorted, gave us the side-eye and turned his back on us. Great to see inspired design in a Chinese restaurant. Unexpected pleasant stylish open atmosphere. Some tables are old country-style picnic-style wood tables. Looks good but probably want the more traditional tables if sitting more than 20 minutes. Great Chinese dishes. Pigs feet. Who knew? They have two menus. Your kid vomiting a lot (it was a lot) in the restaurant. It is parents responsibility to clean up the mess instead of blame the waitress. Put yourself into their shoes. They have one or two waitress in the front , how other customers think of it after they clean it , they may scared of that waitress because she may spread out the germs. I and my friends have been this place many time in several years. It is a very friendly place for family and friends gathering. We all from mainland of China and my friends come from Hongkong.
