It is difficult to find a menu online their website or the concept of the place. You walk in the door and if you sit on the right side then you order at the counter. If you sit on the left side, bar area, you get full service. By the time we left, all the tables in the bar area were full. You seat yourself. The overall price seemed expensive. A $19.99 32oz. Margarita is pricey. The server was a younger girl and she came over about five times and we kept saying we needed another minute. The menu had many pages, but they provided pictures for almost all the items. When we were ready to order we just sat and waited as she was now overwhelmed by all the people coming in. Some guy, maybe the manager, came over and he took our order. The food came out and we were missing two items but at that point we just wanted to eat and leave. The two missing items were not on the check. The food was okay. The rice didn't have much flavor and the salsa tasted okay. Everything was just okay. I probably wouldn't go back just because it was a little far and I felt it was expensive and the food quality didn't match the prices. I go to another Mexican place regularly and it is much better and cheaper. read more

We finally tried Takeiros, and it was pretty good! This is a new Mexican restaurant in South St. Louis County. Takeiros boasts two modern dining rooms, a bar, and even a drive through. Parking is sparse, but the neighboring plaza is mostly empty so you can use that one and simply walk over the median to Takeiros. You order at the counter, but it's a sit down restaurant. We sat in the dining room, which was clean if not a bit crowded. Once you order, they bring you your food pretty quickly and routinely check in on you. We found everyone very attentive and polite! The food was good. My Dad got the Guadalajara Special, which has grilled chicken, shrimp and the standard rice/beans. I got a "Pick 2 Combo" with a Chile Relleno and Pork Tamale and rice/beans. Mine was really good, my Dad enjoyed his but noted that the shrimp was rather fishy tasting. I finished with a cup of Horchata, which tasted a bit chemically for my taste. Regardless, we'll be back to try more items from Takeiros. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open, and we finally got to try it today. It was excellent. Fantastic chips and salsa. Very friendly and attentive service. Hot, fast, affordable and (best of all) tasty food. Sometimes Mexican can be a little greasy, but neither their chicken nor their steak was. Both were excellent. Tacos were so yummy. Get the grilled tacos and ask for the green (verde) salsa. I loved them both. I'll be back for the fajitas test and one of those amazing looking desserts. It was worth the wait, guys! We stopped in for lunch today for the first time, however we didn't stay. The place is nice and clean, staff were friendly, however, compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area the menu was lacking and expensive. Lunch menu was very limited and items were 15.00ish. Which is a lot for a counter service restaurant. We weren't willing to pay inflated prices for unknown food when we could go where we know for less. I know food is expensive these days and I am willing to pay for good food, but I am not willing to spend over 40 dollars on lunch that I am unsure of. That is too much for a lunch in my opinion. read more

We sat at the bar section where you get a waiter. The place was packed and there was only one waiter. The manger ended up ordering our food and missed half my meal resulting in me only getting my chimichanga and a side of rice. The chips and salsa were bland. The ambiance was okay. All of South County has been waiting for this to open and it sure didn't disappoint! The first time we stopped by, it was packed, nowhere to sit. We tried again another week and had success. They have 2 sides - a bar side with actual wait service then a counter service side where you order at the counter but there's still wait staff bringing you food and helping you, just not like a full help. We picked the self side and the counter people offered us menus since we weren't ready and brought us chips & salsa while we looked. The menu is huge and has a wide variety. Hubby tried some chicken dish, I tried their quesoshrimp tacos and can't forget the queso! Everything was delicious, we left with full bellies. I had never been here before but recently I've been sampling various Mexican Restaurants in St. Louis County. I live in Ballwin but drive around the area during the week so I can try several different restaurants during the week. I noticed Takeiros has a really high average rating. I was surprised at the self ordering but I kinda liked the ability to leave when done without waiting to pay. The service was excellent. The three waitresses checked on me often but they weren't overbearing. The food is the best Mexican fare I've had in St. Louis. Usually everything tastes the same but not here. I had the brisket tacos and they were great. I'm a little person and I ate them all but a few bites. And the margarita was perfect. Can't wait to bring my husband and daughter. read more

Probably the most authentic-tasting Mexican food in the area. You literally can't order anything bad off the menu. The service is impeccable. And if you go here and think "what a beautiful mural" when you see the wall, just keep in mind that it was completely handpainted with a small paint brush. If you walk in and go to the left it's more of a bar/dining area where you get waited on. If you go right, it's more casual and you order at the counter. Love that you have the option of either one! Had a few errands to run and I thought I would try out this new restaurant that is all a buzz in south county..Takeiro's Mexican restaurant.... It's like a cross between Culver's and Hacinenda... You go up to the counter you place your order and they will bring it to you.. I asked for a fajita steak salad it was amazing!! Cotilla cheese on the side with sour cream and guac.. it had more steak on it than lettuce!! What I really like is they don't use enormous mounds of salt on their food you can taste the actual food and not the salt; but if you need salt all you have to do is ask...The atmosphere was bright and happy; people were there with their families everyone was enjoying a good afternoon meal.. All of the owners were there making sure that their customers were being taken care of.. Great thing to note if you don't finish your salsa, ask for a lid and you can take it home!! Less clean up for them that is a brilliant idea... Looking forward to going back very soon if you go in the evening be prepared to stand in line. This has been open only a few days...I hear most of the cars were parking on the Walgreens lot. Time to treat yourself the Mexican way in south county!!! read more

I'm not sure how between only 2 people sitting at the bar there can be so much time between making sure the other is taken care of. The staff spent 90 percent of the time I was there entertaining some loud mouth at the opposite end of the bar and I'm just there without a drink.. My food was cold before I even left with it. I get it's a new restaurant, but you can't use that as an excuse whilst you're actively bragging about how good business has been to guests at the same time. I'll continue to visit the old location off of Lemay Ferry or if I'm in south county, El Maguey. read more

The good: friendly attentive employees, nicely decorated and clean. I liked that the salsa was in indivual containers with lids. Not so good: chips seemed like store bought and not tasty. That would have been okay if the rest of meal was good. I got chicken fajitas and my niece got the shrimp Colorado. Both dishes were over salted. The shrimp being the worst as it was both the shrimp and the cheese sauce. I think that fajitas are supposed to be their best dish but they were mediocre, veggies over cooked. I waited so long for this location to open. We've been driving to Columbia and even the Redbud and Waterloo locations (Tequila Mexican Restaurants) and so glad we don't have to anymore! We love their food and the service is exceptional. Having the option to order at the counter or have full service is great. The interior decor is wonderful, and the tv's all around would be great for the sports minded with the bar side. My favorite is their chopped beef chimichanga, covered in the best queso; with perfect refried beans and rice. The "salad" that come with it is small but mighty with generous amounts of guac and sour cream, with a nice slice of tomato (never can figure out why it's left whole!). Always have leftovers to take home. No matter how long I look at the menu, I always order the same thing. My husband usually orders the Nachos Tequila - beef and chicken with all the fixings. Yum! If the sun is shining really strong on the front door, beware of the black door handles! They can get as hot as a Carolina Reaper!!! A pool noodle might be called for to cover those handles! read more

We just ordered Takeiros take out for the third time this year, and every single time it was absolutely amazing! The food was excellent, portions very generous (yay for leftovers!!), and price was incredibly fair--particularly considering what the economy is doing to everyone/everything lately. Even the presentation in the takeout containers was exemplary, and the food was hot. I think Mexican food is very hard to do as takeout and maintain quality, but Takeiros has found all the right answers. They are permanently on our faves list. read more

I would agree that it is kind of like a cross between a Culver's and Tequilas. We stopped by on a Saturday night. It was fairly busy, but the word of it being open was not quite out yet. Same food as Tequila's, but just in a more 'order at the counter, take a number, food will be brought out to you'-type setup. AND they still provided free chips and salsa at the tables Still fairly new and working out the kinks, but the food was very good. I was honestly quite surprised to see the entire Tequila's menu offered. I was assuming it would be a scaled back menu. Staff was very friendly and attentive in bringing out food, cleaning up tables and providing tableware. I hope to see this establishment takeoff to success. They prepared my fajitas like I get in Puerto Morelos-Quintana Roo-southeast Mexico (Yucatan). Try the fajitas cooked on a bed of limes (lima/limo'n) instead of the peppers, onions & tomatoes. The citrus is infused into the meats (shrimp, chicken & beef) and is the best flavor-YUMMMMM. The corn masita or what they refer to as cornbread, is some of the best I have had in St. louis. It is our new go to spot for Mexican for sure. You will NOT be disappointed. read more
