I was craving dim sum as I was in the area. Definitely did not want to wait on a Saturday afternoon. I heard this restaurant had a new owner of sorts so we had to try it. Definitely brighter, airy more modern look to the restaurant Unfortunately, the food was not up to par. It may look good, but it was OK. Felt like most of the dim sum was overly steamed or the meat was a bit chewy. Service was OK as well. Debatable if we would come back.

Weekday lunch. Found parking right away. No wait and seated quickly. Food was ready and fresh off the carts. Clean restaurant. We enjoyed our dining here.

3.5 stars Not busy at all, no wait. Gets the job done but I wouldn't say there are any standout dishes. I've had better dim sum but honestly for a big group this would be great. It's nice and spacious and the staff are attentive. Average to good, they have pretty much all the standard dim sum fare and it's not bad.

The food here is decent. I would give it a 2.5 stars if I can, but 3 stars will do, since I like some of the dishes. Service, on the other hand, is pretty bad. They are very pushy when you order food. You need to be firm in ordering what you want, otherwise they are going to keep putting things you don't want on your table. The lobster noodle is pretty good! It was flavorful and not too salty. Didn't get a chance to take a picture, but their salt and pepper fried squid was also really good! The fried turnip cakes with eggs were also really good! Everything else we ordered was alright. Nothing too standout, as I have had better at other dim sum places. My family went on the morning of Memorial Day, so it was crowded.

The place is typical Chinese Dim Sum with lots of patrons. Family style eatery. The food was very good and the servers were as I expected in a Chinese restaurant. There were 10 of us and I would say the food was good.

[TL;DR] Questionable shrimp har gao & siu mais, mid-quality dishes, and extremely pushy service experience. No wait time on a Saturday at 11am (a bad sign), carts come swarming to your table even before you're seated (another bad sign), and servers bring random dishes to you and solicit you to take the dish (but why??) This wasn't my pick to eat here so I didn't read or check any reviews before coming here, but it definitely felt strange with zero wait here on a weekend for dim sum. I gave it benefit of the doubt to determine the quality until I tried the food, but the experience started off strange when I noticed carts were literally racing to get to our table and get us to order things before I even sat down. We saw this happen again and again each time others entered the restaurant and were in the act of getting situated. Maybe you call that quick customer service, I call it overwhelming with them trying to make you rush a decision on what to order before you can even think. Almost like stimulation overload while your guard is down and end up ordering things you might not even want to eat just yet... All these dishes (see picture) got placed onto our table within 2 mins of sitting down, which is a lot considering I haven't even tried anything yet so I figured let's see how good it is before we order more. Here's the ranking for each dim sum dish we got from good to bad... 1) Bean curd wrapped roll -- 3/5, decent flavor and texture. 2) Turnip cake with fried egg -- 2.5/5, lacking a little bit of flavor and no crisp to the cake so it makes me think that they cooked this a while ago and it got soft. Luckily the spicy chili oil helped give it some taste which it slightly lacked. 3) Pork spare rib with black bean -- 2/5, flavor only comes from the fat of the pork pieces with chunks of fat that you could see on each piece. The fat was so chunky in some bites that I could easily separate and spit it out. 4) Crab and Shrimp Ball -- 2/5, first bite was misleadingly good with the crispy fried outside, because afterwards, the taste just got kinda bland. Luckily the sweet and sour sauce saves this dish a bit. Crab pieces inside was flavorless and dry. 5) Shrimp Har Gao -- 1/5, the skin was so thick and starchy, shrimp tasted a little funky, so these were probably frozen / definitely not fresh. Even after removing the outside dumpling wrapper, eating the shrimp by itself was off-putting. 6) Shrimp Siu Mai -- 0/5, even funkier taste than the Har Gao. For some reason it has a lot of peas and that's really all I taste. Not that I dislike peas, but the peas were mushy and not fresh either. Needless to say, we didn't order anything else even though they kept offering other dishes since these were mostly questionable at best. The food wasn't cheap either... all this for $50+ and not good quality. Only positive things about here are the open space of it and not having to wait for food. Lots of dining tables with this giant screen and stage area which probably makes for a spacious event venue. Definitely never coming back.

Came on a Friday morning and we were seated immediately. They had some dim sum carts to choose from. We ordered shu mai, har gow, shrimp shu mai, black bean spareribs, taro balls, Chinese broccoli, & chicken feet. They were on the smaller side, yet delicious. The restaurant decor was simple and elegant. The wait staff was attentive.

Almost traditional to get dim sum for Sunday brunch in an Asian household! But we came to garden grove and wanted to try a new place besides seafood cove + white palace. Tan is newly remodeled, the dim sum was average/usual comparative to other dim sum places in the area. What did set them apart was their service, they were really tentative! Refilled our waters, consistently asking if we needed anything. We were served even before we sat down lol! Taste wise some dumplings are a bit dry, and they don't have the typical shrimp balls with the eggroll wrapper crust!

If you're facing the grocery store, the dim sum counter is on the right side of the building. There's additional parking on that side, which made it easy and convenient. The setup is simple and efficient. It's a walk-up window where you place your order, and while you're waiting there's a QR code to view the menu on your phone. They also have a large menu displayed, which was helpful since I wasn't confident pronouncing some of the item names. I was able to easily point to what I wanted. I visited on a weekday morning around 10 AM and only had two people ahead of me. The service was incredibly fast--we were in and out in about 10-15 minutes. Everything looked fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. What really stood out was the customer service. The gentleman taking orders was extremely friendly and patient. While we waited, he even gave my young daughter a complimentary egg tart custard, which was such a thoughtful gesture and completely made her day. I brought home several items for my husband, including some of his favorite dim sum dishes, and he absolutely loved everything. The food was fresh, flavorful, and tasted just as good as many sit-down dim sum restaurants we've visited. Based on the quality, prices, and speed of service, I can imagine this place gets very busy on weekends. Going on a weekday morning was perfect. We'll definitely be back. If you're looking for delicious takeout dim sum without the wait and hassle of a traditional restaurant, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

Kevin, Tuân, and Trieu answered all our questions clearly and helped us achieve our dream wedding. I am Vietnamese, and my husband is not, so they made accommodations to find menu items that would serve a multicultural guest list. The prices were very fair and transparent, and the 9 course menu was delicious. White Palace also decorated the restaurant for us and provided meaningful special touches like a champagne tower, special effects for the first dance, and a decorated sweetheart table. The restaurant and their staff made us feel valued and made our wedding shine. While doing wedding research, other venues had hidden charges while White Palace was all inclusive and reasonable. My only suggestion is that they should slice thinner cake slices. They sliced large slices so some of my guests did not receive cake while the guests who got cake didn't finish theirs. I would gladly recommend White Palace to anyone who is planning a wedding.

The…read moredim sum at Seafood Cove2 is totally overrated and the crowd there made it very stressful so I used to come here, Seafood Paradise for dim sum in a relaxed atmosphere. In December 2023 my sister who lives in HB harbor claimed this resto was too far for her but finally decided to have a big Christmas Birthday party and invited 30, 40 people, the manager was not there and my usual server was not there either so I asked and was shocked at the news although I expected it, the new owner told me he had closed on the purchase that day and would change the name to White palace but he would keep the chef and the manager David but that was not the case. To me the best Chinese restaurants were Furiwa and Seafood Paradise. It was sad they failed to understand that w today economy dominated by social medias and if they do not follow the trend, they would be out of business, I told David the manager but he was so confused about what I was talking about. Bad restaurants that spent money on social medias thrived beyond comprehension. My sister ordered the usual wedding menu, 10 courses w lobster, steamed fish, etc..I knew immediately it was a new chef, the lobster was flavorless, almost every course was bland but many people I know have hay fever and with severe sneezing sometimes they lose their sense of taste on top of being born w less taste buds, it can be a curse to have too many taste buds as I was skinny all my life from not being able to enjoy eating till I started cruising when in the old days, cruise ship chefs were of Michelin caliber. My sister threw another big bash on Chinese/VN new year 2-10-2024, again 10 courses dinner and again everything was bland, there was not even enough salt in the food. I made no comment when asked bc everybody seemed to like it so who was I to say anything and I wanted to support the new owner, the service was great so that was a plus. I came by many times for dim sum and was disappointed the menu was limited, my favorite items were no longer offered. On 1-18-2026 my cousin had a big party, she is the Cai Luong singer and impresario, if my count was correct there were 20 tables, 200 attendants and many performers. Unfortunately for $60 to $75 pp, they could only offered 5 courses as they had to pay the performers. Needless to say, I could only eat the walnut shrimp and fried fish, the fried rice was not at all edible, what were they thinking? no salt, very little egg, I sure did not get fat!. I think 3 stars are generous as I was frustrated w the meal, I had no idea what the lead singer was singing/screaming about so loud in Saigonese! Lol! The dude was a VN version of Liberace!. I was there to keep up w long lost relatives, I sadly found out one had just died and I was not able to find out what happened bc the sound system was not functioning properly, it was blasting so loud, I was almost deaf in both ears! It was impossible to know what all the performers were saying. The manager if you read this please fix it, I have no idea how any wedding can take place w zero sound system unless it just went kaput on that one day. I'll tell my cousin to check on this before booking here again. I can't believe they also bought another restaurant on Edinger, Santa Ana, maybe it's just me but I don't like the all white chairs and table, I worked all my life in hospital and I'm not a fan of all white furniture, The old Seafood paradise had beautiful romantic looking pink flowers, table cloth and beautiful comfortable chairs. I'm glad they seem to be doing great, good for them, I'm not going back here but I plan to go to their 2nd resto. Unfortunately HB and Little Saigon do not have very good Chinese restaurants, I miss Hong Kong and all the 5 stars hotel ayce buffets in, I'm looking forward to my VN trip w all the good food unfortunately Yelp has no presence in VN. My camera always eats first, I have about 10,000 pictures of food in my IPhone from all my cruises and trips around the world, I enjoy looking and relive all my culinary experience. Pl come back for my future review of the White palace #2.
