Ordered for pick up and it wasnt the best. They prioritize people who order and eat at the resturant, which makes sense. However, the online eta is hugely inaccurate. I came here after a friend recommended it. She's a regular and although I'm not a fan of soups, I do appreciate good Korean cuisine. The place was very neat, tidy and social distancing was being enforced. I had the Bulgogi Rice Plate, which was piping hot and delicious. My friend had the Gingsen Chicken soup and although she wasn't allowed to make substitutions (which makes sense, after all, IT IS a chicken broth, adding a different type of meat wouldn't make much sense) she still enjoyed it quite a bit. Awesome food and service! I came with two friends and we ordered the bibimbap and pork cutlet. The portions were huge--all 3 of us left satisfied and full. I definitely recommend the pork cutlet to anybody who wants to eat here. It was delightfully crunchy and the flavor was magnificent! Not too much batter either, so you really get to taste the pork. I believe the total bill came out to be about $15 per person, which I would say is fair for the amount of food we got. Tang 190 is a very reliable spot to go for yukgaejang, but I've also had their japchae and fried dumplings which are both good. Their cucumber & radish kimchi are my favorite along with their fish cakes. Their potato salad is good but it isn't always served. Prices have gone up since I started coming here in high school, but that's to be expected. I do think the value is good for something that would take a lot of effort to make at home. Went here on a weeknight around 6pm and there was a good amount of people with maybe a ten minute wait, but it was definitely worth it. We ordered the GALBI dolsot, bulgogi rice plate, and back rib soup. All three plates/bowls were huge portion sizes. The GALBI meat was sooo good. This was definitely my favorite item. I really enjoyed the noodles and broth for the back rib soup. It's perfect for this cold weather. Visited the restaurant on a Sunday dinner time. My party of 2 waited about 20 mins; there is no line if you choose to eat outside at one of the communal tables set out by the plaza. I chose not to because I saw a restaurant worker smoking by the palm tree and the last thing I need when eating is inhaling cigarette smoke. We ordered the Yuk Gae Jang (spicy beef soup) and the Octopus Dolsot (hot stone pot). Both were flavorful, but I took out one star because they don't give you a full portion of rice. The rice that came in a bowl for the soup was loosely packed and not all the way to the top; the Octopus Dolsot could have used more rice as it was too saucy for me. They sell a bowl of white rice for $2; I felt like they were inducing people to buy another bowl. But if I am paying an average of $20 per dish, I expect to get a full portion of rice. The servers were friendly and spoke fluent English. The banchans (side dishes; free and refillable) were authentic and delicious. The restaurant is roomy so no need to hear other people's conversations. They left the door wide open so it wasn't stuffy. But I had to deal with a gnat while eating. They played recent K-Pop in the background which was nice; the volume was just right. In summary, this is a decent Korean restaurant with the Irvine premium price tag. In a nutshell: staffing shortage plus prioritizing take-out orders made it a very poor dine-in experience. Both are largely factors outside of their control of course. It got much cooler by the time we got to ordering, so we went with hot dishes instead: Beef Shank Soup AKA Seolleongtang - Most Korean places call it Ox Bone Soup, I don't know why Tang named it like that. Anyways, it felt watery and diluted even after adding salt. Compared to other restaurants in the area, I would place this one below Yigah and slightly above Yuk Dae Jang. Back-Rib Soup AKA Galbi-tang - Another interesting name choice, usually it's short rib soup. This one was the best out of the three, the meat slid off the bone effortlessly. A very tasty broth as well. Octopus Rice Plate AKA Octopus Bibimbap - Tolerable spice level and good mix of vegetables. Amount of octopus was skimpy for the price. You put your name down and they call it out when your table is ready so make sure to stay near by! They have indoor and outdoor seating When you go in, they serve 4 side dishes, and it usually varies depending on what they have that day. They serve water or hot barley tea, both free :) I've tried a few soups but my all time fav is the galbi tang. A lot of places tend to make it too salty, so it ruins the dish a bit for me. Initially I thought it was a bit bland and not spicy (I tend to eat fairly spicy dishes) but then I added the chili paste they had on the table. I added maybe half of the container in total and that made the dish taste really good. If it were not for this chili paste it would be a 3 star. But that chili paste is yummy. It is slightly smokey, a bit reminiscent of chipotle salsas but as a thick paste. Like harissa paste if you know what that is. I could add that to rice and it would be amazing. The overall setting of the place was very cozy. The side dishes were really good, I especially enjoyed the fish cakes and the radish kimchi. The only downside was the service, it seemed like they were in a rush to get us to leave especially when we weren't done eating and someone brought out the check mid meal. Offering a limited menu rn (7/2021) ! This is one of the shorter waits on a weekend night at the plaza. They close at 8:30, its updated on Google I think - but I've seen people eat way over 8:30 so it makes sense to stop getting customers early. Parking wise the plaza is pretty big so no worries, waitlist is a written one but pretty fast. The portions are pretty big so one dish is likely to fill you. Pricing wise is a little more expensive depending on what you get but again you get a big portion so if you don't want to be stuffed it can be shareable. I think their banchan limited from what I remember but I really like how seaweed was one of the options. The seaweed had a light vinegary taste, and the kimchis are on the softer side. They offer hot tea or water to drink with your meal & a lot more outdoor seating than inside as well as to go orders. The octopus rice plate fit my craving of hot stone rice LOL. You just have to mix it and smush it a little to press it into the plate and then leave it alone to develop that delicious crust. I was surprised at the size of the plate! The fried rice's octopus is kind of like seafood mix size and the yolk was cooked soft ( prob cooked more from the heat of the plate). Basically they surround the octopus on the outside and in the middle is the rice. Flavor wise is very gochujang like- I have a spice tolerance so for sure wasn't spicy to me but nonetheless yummy. I feel like there couldve been something else added to it because halfway through I got tired of gochujung LOL perhaps more chopped kimchi, though I did add in more of the banchan into the rice to cut out the salty sweet flavor.
