The food was pretty good. I had the pork belly tacos and the brisket tacos and they were great. The entertainment was pretty good and we were satisfied with the whole experience. My wife was not happy with the chicken tenders because they taste like they were fried in the same pan as the fish. She hates seafood. I wouldn't have a clue how their food or service was because they cancelled our rehearsal dinner that had been planned for months the day before the dinner. We had over 40 people, most from out of town. Ended up at taco Mac because that's the only place that could take our size party at that late of notice. Great venue! Very spacious and I appreciate the different vibes offered throughout the entire space. You have the bar area that's sectioned off from the restaurant and open area so it seems like a separate entity all together. The restaurant area gives off the appearance of being an outdoor seating area even though the entire complex is enclosed. Then you have that open area where when I went, there were a few cornhole games going on. I'm sure they do a bunch of different events out there since there is so much space. They had a great selection of beers on tap and the food (although I didn't have any), looked decent. A few gripes I had about the place was that the music was WAY too loud. I received a phone call and I couldn't hear the person on the other line at all even though my volume was on high and phone was pressed against my ear. I also saw a lot of servers just standing around and chilling in remote parts of the restaurant and while I'm all for breaks, I definitely saw patrons trying to get service. Another incident I saw which was pretty disheartening was a server asking the bartender to make another jack and coke because she accidentally threw out a customer's who wasn't finished. She complained that there wasn't much left in the cup and make this big deal about it and I guess the bartender shared the same sentiment because I saw her pour a drop of Jack into a full cup of Coke. I mean, you made the mistake of throwing something out without asking. I think in that instance, the customer who paid money for the drink deserves to get to drink all of it. Also, parking is not the best here. Other than those gripes which seem to be easy fixes, I thought this venue was really unique and cool and would come back if I were in the area. read more

First, waiter never intro'd himself and it was apparent he did not want to be there. Menus had something pink & sticky on them. Ordered 2 apps: fried pickles (delicious) & smoked tuna w/ crackers (also good). Drink order was fine...fru-fru beers on tap were good. Entrees: rack of ribs got a "good" status, glazed salmon left a lot to be desired (like cooked fish with very sweet topping), Philly cheesesteak calzone--no cheese, hardly any onions/peppers, crust burnt, forgot marinara sauce, & finally the Cuban: dry, no taste and no auce as stated on menu. Late in the game, the waiter decided to try & make amends with some BS story about trying to appease another party watching the football game. Very disappointed with this visit and may not ever try eating here again. The overall ambiance was inviting. It's a HUGE, old warehouse with exposed brick everywhere. The had a guitarist playing great background music and singing. As far as food, the fried pickles and crab cake bites are A1! Start with those. I had the bourbon glazed salmon with rice pilaf and veggies for an entree. The service was slow, our server was forgetful, forceful and rude. The pecan smoked bacon with peanut butter dipping sauce was nothing more than cold thin cheap bacon with a side of JIF peanut butter, totally not worth the $12 we spent. For the prices, nothing is worth it on that menu. They are trying to be an upscale gastropub/brew house. Instead it's cheap frozen crappy food, I don't believe anything is made from scratch in house. Great venue in Buford. Really enjoyed the food, and you must not miss out on the Bacon with Bourbon Peanut butter dip. My only complaints: the service was slow, not our waitress' fault, she was working hard but they seemed understaffed. Also, the manager was not friendly at all and seemed like he was bothered when I went up and asked for extra menus. They only gave us three for our party of 6. The Tannery Row Alehouse in old Town Buford, GA is run by a group of people who don't know how to run a business. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced - not worth the bill. They double booked our event and some sort of wedding reception, so they kicked us out of their facility before the wedding reception showed up. Tannery Row is now a regular go to for a date night for my husband and I. Food is very delicious, some of my favorites are the Cuban, Grilled Pimento Cheese & Brisket, Wagyu Sliders, and the Brie and Fig Burger. The drink selection is another reason we keep coming back. My husband and I are huge craft beer fans and they always have good selection. We love to sit at the bar. We always get great customer service there! First visit: I almost never award any business a full five stars and a four star rating for a restaurant is very rare for me. This is the major reason why my experience at Tannery Row Ale House was so memorable, along with the food. We were seated after an insignificantly short wait. Our server was friendly and informative. Her recommendations would turn out to be spot on. There was a bit of a wait prior to receiving our appetizers but the brief delay was well worth the time spent once the food arrived. Our selections were: Fried pickles with dipping sauce: Outstanding. Some of the best I have ever had and not quite as salty as most. Fried Grouper Fingers with Tarter Sauce: Very Good. The light batter was nearly perfect. Smoked Turkey Entree with Texas Toast, Fried Okra and Sidewinder Fries. All item distinctively superior, fresh and flavorful. I am very skeptical of restaurant turkey. Tannery Row's version helped to quell my doubts. Tender smoked turkey just the way you'd expect it to be with no gamey aftertaste. Next time however, I'll have the barbeque sauce (which was appropriately tangy and not overpowering) placed on the side. The sidewinder 'tators are a unique take on standard fries. They weren't over salted or buried beneath a heavy dusting of seasoning. Texas Toast helped round out the platter. Strange as it may be, the stand out item might have been the fried okra. It must have been fresh because no frozen prefabricated product could have tasted this darn good. It tasted as if it might have been picked from someone's garden next door. It wasn't heavily battered either. In some places, the batter weighs more than the okra. I could have eaten a pound of the stuff. The iced tea didn't taste fresh brewed but that accommodation can be forgiven, considering all the great food. A good meal here can be a bit pricey but what restaurant isn't nowadays? This includes fast food, which typically doesn't arrive fast and hardly passes for food. The most negative part of the entire experience was the deafening noise level. Be sure to bring earplugs if you're bothered by all the reflective auditory harshness produced by loudmouthed patrons, all of the hard reflective surfaces and high ceilings lacking sound deadening material. There are few restaurants today I'd consider returning to. Tannery Row just became part of that short list. My compliments to the staff and ownership. Thanks for helping to reaffirm my confidence in restaurant food. Second visit: Not as good the second time around. Along with food, atmosphere, service and price, consistency must be factored in when considering the quality of any restaurant. My second visit to Tannery Row Ale House was somewhat disappointing. I ordered the turkey entree again. This time, the turkey was a bit gamy. This could indicate it wasn't fresh. Also, the portion size of the turkey was considerably smaller. On the positive side, the noise level was far within the range of tolerance due to less patrons in the dining room. In fact, the group of servers were responsible for making the vast majority of the noise. The sidewinder potatoes, fried okra, and fried pickles were still spot on delicious. As much as I wanted Tannery Row Ale House to be my go to place for smoked turkey, I might be hesitant to order it again unless I can be assured of the day and time it was cooked. My wife ordered the combination meal and was disappointed that the chicken portion of the sampler turned out to be a thigh and drumstick. She described the chicken as nondescript and agreed with my assessment of the turkey not tasting fresh. Tannery Row loses a star for inconsistency. read more

My girlfriend and I visited the ale house for lunch one day after we found out our original choice in Downtown Buford was closed. We stopped in not knowing what to expect. The place was dead at 1 pm with only a few people eating. The space is split into two seating areas, inside and "outside" (which is really an open air pavilion type seating). I have to say, the area they are in, old warehouse type building, is pretty neat and unique. They are short staffed and so it took them a minute to realize that we needed to be seated, but once we were, our server, Baine?, was really helpful in getting our drink orders and food. We each got BBQ, brisket and pork, and we each thought the meat was extremely good. Nice flavor and tender. The fries aren't bad either, and the okra tasted like okra anywhere else. I recommend this place, but you may have to try it a few times to get a good grip if it is a place for you. My first experience there didn't turn me away and since they are fairly new, I'm excited to see if they grow and succeed at that location. I'll be back. read more

I have a 3 strike rule. I made an exception and gave this place a 4th try. It was terrible. The service has always been spotty, but last night it was horrible! I was there 3 hours and was only able to order one drink. After an hour, I had to approach our waiter and ask him to take our order. Every restaurant I had ever been to with a larger party, the attendant took everyone's order at the same time. I did not expect the fastest service since we were a party of 17, but I did expect something. Our friends an order for 2 bottles of beer, after 25 min, they went to the bar and ordered it themselves. The other beers never arrived. Unfortunately, as stated earlier, this has been the norm for 3 out of 4 visits. Poor service with average to below average food -- we will not be back. read more

WOW! A BEAUTIFUL NEW OPTION! My husband and I actually stumbled into this place as we were trying to find the art gallery. This is an absolutely beautiful space. I loved everything about it! The building is approximately 100 years old and has retained its original beauty and charm. This would have been a perfect place for lunch had we not already eaten. The space inside is very open and today they were hosting a charity event so the set up was a bit different. It provided a glimpse of what it might be like if you hosted your own event and needed to set up a large buffet. This is the perfect venue! The very enthusiastic host told me that they host large groups and special events. There is live music on the weekends and I noticed a sign advertising open mic night. In the center of the room, there is a very large television screen perfect for watching special events and sports. The menu appeared to be very casual, mainly bar-b-que and sandwiches, but who doesn't love a good bar-b-que?. This is a really cool place with a great vibe and I could so see myself having a family dinner here or meeting my girls for a night out. I love this beautiful new option. read more

If I could give another 1/2 star I would. This is the first time since the location was The Pizza Pub. We went last night for The Girls Night Out Show. First, logistically it was a mess with the way seating was and how it was handled by the very mean Manager/Host at the front. Sign clearly stated wait to be seated, but nobody was at the podium. Then a gentleman came walking across the very large room and took his place by the podium, then turned to my friend and I and said "Yes ladies, what do you want, do you think I'm standing here for my health". I know Tannery Row is not responsible for the contents of the show, but it was horrible and not tasteful at all. After seeing similar shows in Vegas, this was low level amateurish at best. On to the food and drink. We ordered flatbread and provolone wedges and they were great and very tasty. For drinks we just had beer and wine, but prices were reasonable. They kept to their normal pricing for the event, which is normally unheard of at other establishments. I went to this restaurant tonight, just three people and I. Four people total. The first thing that went wrong was I waited a hour for a table in a empty restaurant. I let that go because the food here is really good and the service is really good. Yet, the worst thing I imagine, happened. Our food was undercooked, the outside look really good but in the inside it was raw. I told the server this happened. Lauren, our server, tried her best to help us out and even the food runner tried to help. The manager walked up to us and said you happy now. I don't know what he meant by this. Then I asked, and he told me I should leave that my type of people shouldn't be in here. I took offense to this. Yes I'm gay, yes I was wearing a crop top, but I do not need a manager coming up to me telling me this. Also he was checking me out all night and I could tell he was because he was at the bar for a minute just looking me up and down. I asked my server his name and she said it's Mike, I believe that is correct. I hope the lgbt community will help me boycott this restaurant until is "Mike" is removed. read more

I'm not someone to have a single bad experience and trash talk the restaurant for it or to never give it a second chance. Again, I have been here many times over the course of 1.5 years. But, it has finally come time and I do feel like this is an extraordinary circumstance where my experiences need to point people to somewhere their money will be better spent. Service: Servers are great and helpful, but waiting is always an issue when I have gone to Tannery Row. When I've sat at the bar, the bartenders are always making drinks and fixing beer orders for the oceans of tables/customers throughout the other parts of the building. It seemed an after thought on the part of the bartenders to check on anyone sitting at the bar, because they're so busy with everything else. Kitchen/Food: plan on your appetizer taking a rather long time and coming out less than exciting. If you're entree is supposed to be a dish served hot, expect it to be warm at best. Sauces seem like they've been sitting out all day and fries are usually lukewarm. I have never personally had food come out that measured up to the expectation created by the menu + price. Know this: I am very much a "order the same thing the next time I come" kind of guy, and I have never ordered the same thing here because I'm just looking for something the kitchen makes well and consistently. It has honestly been average at best. Tannery has some great items on their menu, don't get me wrong. But they do have some items that once you order, you probably won't go back and order them again. For example: I love Reuben sandwiches and have felt let down by the Southern Reuben (which costs $13 alone.) And, my wife loves chicken salad, ordered it here and said it was very "cartilage-y", in her own words. But on the other hand, their meatloaf and brisket are winners if they come out on time and are warm (they're pricey though!) I can't put my finger on what it is with Tannery Row. Is the business not hiring enough waiters and thus the service problems? Is the kitchen is just full of jerks who yell at any servers who are only communicating customer complaints? I really don't know. But considering that after drinks (which they have a great selection of beers, just plan on waiting awhile for it to come!), appetizers, and food, you're gonna spend $50-100... I'd say go elsewhere. I'm sure plenty of people don't have a single bad word to say about this place, and that's totally fine. I'm just communicating the experiences I have had at this restaurant over many visits.. If you're looking for suggestions, Rico's World Kitchen is right down the street and is amazing. Their specials are unique and really really good. It's a small place, but it's worth the wait (if you even have to.) If you have read all of this and are still going in spite of my review, I sincerely hope your experience with Tannery Row is amazing and nothing similar to what I have seen here. I honestly hope better for this restaurant in the future because I'm a part of this community and it gives me another option of places to eat out. It's a cool spot and has a lot of potential. We've been here a few times before, and its been pretty good before. The BBQ brisket, in all it's forms (sandwich, plate, taco, etc) was pretty good. But not tonight. It was incredibly dry, and we had to order extra sauce just to get through some of it. The service was really lacking, too. I feel bad saying that because I could tell our waitress simply had more than she could handle. But I can't say I was thrilled that they seated our party of 4 to a table that only had 3 chairs and I had to stand and wait for about 5 minutes until they brought me a chair. Not sure that we'll go back ... They're not as good as Rico's, which is just down the street from them. But if I'm going to have mediocre food and sub par service, I'll go to the better place with the longer wait. read more

Friendly staff and nice inside, especially big and open which is great during a pandemic. Unfortunately, the food came out cold and wrong and it took a long time to correct. All of us also got sick. It is a nice, new and clean sports bar located in a former mill. The place is huge. The area it is located in is downtown Buford and may not be the best location for a large bar. It is definitely a work in progress as it has been open over half a year and there is still construction and poor parking. This is at least the second time the facility has been operated as a bar. We went early on a Saturday afternoon and it was a sparse crowd watching the local college football teams. Hopefully it did better later in the day when the local favorites were playing. It has a huge LED TV in back of a stage where live music is played. There is only one TV. There are additional areas so more TVs could be installed. In front of the stage are cafeteria tables with chairs and could easily hold several hundred people. The usual assortment of local craft beers are featured as well as buckets of mass produced beer. The mac and cheese bites app was a fried gastro delight! The rest of our order was a little bland, but I am hoping for better next time. They have a varied menu with pizza, BBQ, burgers and sandwiches. The staff seemed to be minimal upon arrival, but super friendly and our drinks and food came out quickly. My other choice of food were the chicken tenders with fries. The tenders were small but they were good. I would have liked a couple of more in the basket. The fries are more of a potato wedge. I liked them. I saw that the also had chilli cheese fries and I am guessing that they would be really good with this type of fry. I am going to come back. I want to try the bbq and their burgers. We visited this past weekend for our 3rd visit and the atmosphere is really cool, open and different. Service is very slow, however. They are under - staffed at the moment and, I know that they are new. Still, more servers are needed before too many customers have a disappointing visit. The crab bites were tasty light and non-greasy. The flatbread pizza was okay...With the crust being the highlight. The Brunswick Stew I had to send back because although loaded with meat was cold and lacking in real flavor. The cup portion was tiny for the price. Beer prices are too high so more specials are needed. Friends at our table raved over the pimento cheese brisket sandwich and grilled salmon blt. The decor is fantastic and unique. We've been here three times and every time the waitstaff is friendly, when you can catch them. Will be back to try the bbq. Great place to watch football.
