Small little spot in Bay Ridge towards the more Middle Eastern part of the neighborhood, where you wouldn't expect a legit ramen place, but it was definitely a good find, especially if you're in the area or catching a cheap Wednesday matinee at Alpine Cinemas, which is also a staple in the neighborhood. All in all, a very solid bowl of ramen with decent portions for a base price of $16. I was surprised they let you customize the ramen so much since most ramen places, besides places like Ichiran, don't have that option. You can choose thick or thin noodles, the type of broth, and combine different toppings if you want. You can also choose a low sodium broth, and the high sodium is one of the main reasons I don't get ramen that often, so I will definitely make this my go to ramen spot going forward. The chashu also wasn't just a thin slice of pale meat that they hope warms up in the broth. It was thick, and I could tell they blow torched it until it was slightly charred and smoky right before serving. The poached egg also came with both two halves. I know it seems like nothing, but there have been many times where my ramen only came with half an egg. I got extra fried tofu in mine, and it wasn't just the basic cubed tofu. It was those rectangular pieces that open up almost like a pocket, kind of like an inari sleeve but crispy, which means they fried it a bit before serving and it wasn't straight out of a package. The lady running the place seemed super nice and interacted with all her customers, especially children and babies. When I was there, there were two other tables, one with a newborn and another with a young boy trying to learn Chinese. She took the time to make sure the newborn had proper space and was able to sit comfortably next to the mom, and she also entertained the young boy while he was practicing Mandarin and even taught him a few more words. read more

It's not quite traditional Japanese ramen, so beware if that's what you're looking for. Overall, the ramen was ok, flavorful but a bit salty. I subbed the pork in the black garlic tonkotsu for tofu, but that might've been the wrong move. The tofu is fried, and retains the oil so that, plus black garlic oil, made my soup too oily and difficult to finish. The ramen noodles were cooked well though and the roasted pork is very flavorful. We ordered the spicy tan tan ramen and spicy miso ramen with extra noodles on the side. I like the broth for the spicy tan tan ramen; there is a Szechuan chili oil added to the base broth, which I like since I like my food spicy. But this isn't super spicy, just a mild numbing kick. A solid, solid ramen option in the area. We stopped by here after a brief jaunt through Dyker Heights for the holiday lights and I must say, it was my favorite Dyker Heights outing yet. The noodles, bok choy, ground pork were all perfectly looked. The soy egg like stated above was perfect. I ended up drinking a lot the broth trying to eat up every piece of pork meat. The pork buns were good. A bit smaller then I imagined though. With the first initial bite it reminded me of eating like a grilled pork banh mi as it had pickled veggies and a crunchy cucumber. Last night, I had a dream about RAMEN. I woke up craving ramen. Problem is... I didn't even like ramen... until today when I ordered from Tanoshii Ramen. The Ramen I've tried up until this point was all wrong. Tanoshii did everything right. I ordered on Yelp for delivery ($2.99 fee) - 1 order of the Takoyaki (something I know for sure that I enjoy) and the Miso Ramen with added Fried Tofu (a dish I wasn't quite sure I'd be thrilled about). Contactless delivery was easy-breezy, and the woman dropping off my food was sure to place the bag in a spot that wouldn't be covered from the rain (THANK YOU SO MUCH!). The broth arrived piping hot and separate from the noodles, pork, veggies and FRIED TOFU. It was SO, so good. It was at that moment that I realized I do like ramen, but I had just tried sub-par versions before. Tanoshii delivered a perfect broth, fresh noodles, and succulent pork. Please don't get me started on what a great addition the tofu was to this bowl. Heavenly. The Takoyaki arrived hot as well. The perfect combo of savory and sweet... such beautiful little puffs, they were. I devoured them. My husband is always looking for new/good ramen places for me to try. It's all the more amazing because he doesn't eat it himself (or rather does not eat red meat and seafood). He found me a place in the city that I love and he would often bring it home for me after work. All that changed when the pandemic hit and he found himself looking for another "favorite," he found Tanoshii Ramen in Brooklyn. I know every person has their own tastes and at first, I thought this place was really good, but not as good as my city fav, but having had it so many times now during quarantine - it has become an equal favorite with it being great that it's even closer to home. I have actually never been inside myself, but my husband has said they were nice. I have tried the miso ramen and the tonkatsu ramen and the miso ramen is my favorite. The miso is made with the wavy yellow noodles and the tonkatsu uses the straight white noodles. I liked them both, but the miso was more hearty for me so I enjoy it better. Their regular portions are pretty good too. Two slices of pork - not too thin and a whole egg with corn, bamboo shoots and scallions (though I nix those last two). The lunch special is like 9.95 and has 1 slice of pork and half an egg. Both are good values and filling. I always buy 2 at a time because even later in the day or the next day, it's still so yummy.
