Went to Tap & Barrel twice in the SAME day on my birthday for cocktails and appetizers, which feels less like dining and more like a custody arrangement at that point. First waitress was awesome. For some reason I became fully convinced she was a skateboarder. No evidence. No skateboard nearby. Just a vibe I invented in my head. She was not a skateboarder. Still gave amazing service to the table despite me apparently profiling people as "kickflip capable." Came back later and got served by a guy with glasses who was possibly the happiest human being I've ever encountered. Not "good customer service" happy. Like Disney side character levels of joy. I left in a better mood than when I arrived and slightly concerned he may actually be powered by sunlight. 10/10. Apparently my new hobby is spending entire days at Tap & Barrel. read more

Came for lunch on a Saturday. There was a line waiting to go in just after it opened. We were sat upstairs in the covered patio. I was nice a cozy as it was sunny outside, nice view but not too hot. The service was great, the server was quick to grab our order and refill our drinks. The food was good. We did ask for less salt, if possible. The clam chowder was still a little salty for our liking. Keep in mind that at home, we don't usually use too much salt so for others, it might be just right. My last dinner in Vancouver before moving away. Fitting that I was seated with a view of my apartment that I had just moved out of, looking out the window where I had my wedding photos taken (when it was still the old Bridges). I was exhausted from moving, and I just wanted some beers and a clean meal. Their hummus plate I had before in January and I was blown away by how good it was, so came back for that, and a nice beer tasting flight. I also had one of their rice bowls and had the tofu option. I never knew that tap and barrel has half price bottled wine on tuesdays. My friend happened to google and found out. their wine list isnt very extensive but definitely some basic and well received types. We also ordered from their late night happy hour menu which starts at 9pm. We tried the wild mushroom pizza, which was great with quality amount of mushrooms and cheese We also ordered the tots. The views here are beautiful - whether you're outside or upstairs there's plenty of seating with great views of False Creek. I went for a brunch on a Sunday and they have a special $4 dollars off brunch food items. My main was the double bacon benedict ($15 after the discount). The dish had a really nice savory flavor and the hollandaise sauce was incredible. The potatoes were cooked to perfection as well. Before my food, I got an espresso martini ($13) which hit the spot. The atmosphere is top notch and the staff throughout was very friendly. Although, they're a little disorganized when entering. We arrived and enjoyed the gorgeous outdoor waiting area around the fire pit for a patio table that is dog friendly and a major round of applause must be given to the hostess team here as they also expertly made sure to seat even the three dogs another table was waiting on at a section of the patio separate from ours to ensure minimal dog barking and any issues so the patio stayed peaceful. I can confirm this as I asked the wonderful hostess if we can perhaps be seated apart from other dogs as our puppies are still learning social etiquette and she said not to worry they seat dogs separated on purpose. So brilliant! Wish more restaurants did this, sometimes they too often seat them close to each other and interactions cannot be avoided. And the rest of our service was just as professional and friendly, times perfectly. Every dish was delicious and healthy, portioned generously to boot. After an early start to the day and lots of walking and sight seeing we were happy to have walked by Tap & Barrell. It was pretty busy for a Monday and we had to wait a little to get seated but it was worth the wait. The kitchen seemed a little overwhelmed because the food took a while to come out, but our server was very attentive and friendly and gave us some good recommendations from the menu. I had a chicken Caesar salad which I liked, the chicken was cooked well and the seasoning was great. My highlight was the Hugo cocktail, as I don't see it too often on restaurant menus where I live now. I always get it whenever I see it somewhere and highly recommend it! The weight staff was absolutely perfect. You can come here dressed casually or maybe business casual. There were lots of choices on the menu so everybody was able to find something that they enjoyed. Tap and Barrel Bridges is a perfect location in a mostly touristy area in Granville Island. What's really nice about T&B Bridges is that it's all the way at the end of Granville Island where there's a good amount of parking and a large dining space for it. It's right next to the water and an awesome backdrop for pictures especially during the nighttime. After a long day touring downtown Vancouver or seeing the sites aeound the area, take a seat at the bar and taste one of the many local microbrews. The bartenders are really nice and informative about the local options. The food is very representative of the Pacific Northwest menu while keeping it simple with bar food. After a day of exploring Granville, we were looking for a place to eat so we just decided to go here. It's a nice restaurant and for the most part, we enjoyed our food there. I got the fish and chips, while my wife got the a spicy ahi sandwich. We both liked our food overall, but it was a bit on the heavier side. I know fish and chips isn't a light meal, but there was just way more oil than I was used to and the ahi sandwich had a bit more mayonnaise than we liked. My son got the kid's mac and cheese which was actually really good and the portion was large. My son wasn't a fan, but my wife and I liked it since the cheese seemed higher quality. Although the food wasn't anything special, the restaurant has a nice view of water. Also, service wasn't bad, but it did take especially long to get our food. It seemed like most patrons were waiting, so maybe they had some issues in the kitchen that day. Who knows. Got invited my family to dine at Tap and barrel and the experience did not disappoint. Location was waterfront with parking right infront. I had the blackened steak with creole butter and side of shrimps. And for dessert, the affogato! The steak came medium as ordered. The cut could be a bit better as I prefer a bit of fat for more flavour. The creole butter was spot on providing more depth and kick, and brought the steak to another level. Presentation was top notch, as well as the service. It was a busy Sunday, but the servers did not miss a beat and made sure everyone one in our group was taken care of. Kudos to the restaurant for having creole butter on the menu. Not many places have this option. The affogato was simple amazing. My family ate a linner (late lunch early dinner) here about 1 1/2 weeks ago when we visited Granville Island. I really loved this restaurant. From the time we were seated, to the service, to the cooks, and anyone else we encountered, all service was great here! The restaurant was super clean inside and outside. The yellow color of the building really makes this place stand out. The restaurant bench back seating all had some cool pillows to lean on, sit on, or whatever your purpose would be for them, even if just seeing they were decorative pillows. I appreciated the clean restroom as well. I also enjoyed seeing the number of big screens/tv's so customers could watch sports if needed. When we first arrived, my two granddaughters needed to eat right away. So we ordered a kids' pizza. I don't know if this was an actual kid's pizza or a bigger size, but it was a larger than expected pizza and very good! Everyone ordered some miscellaneous drinks and cocktails, but I just stuck with some good old-fashioned water. For the main course, I had a blackened chicken, bacon, and avocado burger with a Caesar salad. My chicken burger was amazing! Both of my daughters ordered the lobster roll sandwiches, one had fries, the other had a house salad. My son in law had a shrimp pesto linguine with garlic bread. Everyone seemed very satisfied! First time in this area. Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant for water front dining. We sat at the bar as we were just going to have a cocktail but when we saw the food coming out to the guests around us we had to have something. We started with guacamole and chips. Ambient noise allowed for good conversation. - We all enjoyed our menu and adult beverage choices. As one can only dine on burger and fries (or fish and chips) so often, I was pleased with Ranchero Rice Bowl (see picture) - Service was slow and disorganized at times. Review #737 Sure it has a water view but the wait and food were awful. So how much time do you have to sit here without food or drinks while the meter runs--that is the question? I am becoming increasingly embarrassed of what Vancouver has to offer in terms of waterfront food dining, but I guess that is the way with most waterfront places. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong! I don't think any of the servers were locals anyway (so what does that tell you), and even if they were nice when actually coming round, fish and chips without mixed drinks should not take two hours! Especially tiny pieces of fish and nearly cold (definitely old) fries! Not only did the meter cost $10 to sit here but the drive during rush hour was horrendous--and I arrived well before rush hour. Go here for the view and drinks if you must, but this place is even worse than I remembered and I have been coming here since the 1990s. I still gave the server a 20 per cent tip as she seemed overwhelmed and perhaps it wasn't her fault, but they weren't even going to give me the empty table on the water in the first place. If they wanted the table for a group buying alcohol (which makes sense!) , why make us sit there for 2.5 hours? Wouldn't you rather turn the table over. The ambiance you wish for on a spring and summer day. I'm stunned and impressed by the speed of service and the incredible staff. Chloe our server was incredible! A total vibe. We arrived at prime dinner time on a Saturday evening with no reservations. Despite the fact that it was hopping, I was told they could seat my family of four inside immediately, or there would be a small wait to eat outside. I chose outside, because the weather was beautiful. By the time I got to my wife to tell her we were going to wait, they called my name! We were led upstairs by a wonderfully polite host and sat upstairs outside on the deck and enjoyed fantastic views. Drinks, appetizers, and food were all delivered quickly with a smile. However, probably the best part was the fried chicken with mac & cheese. Just excellent! Overall, this was a great experience and I highly recommend it. One of the biggest restaurants on Granville island. We came here looking for oysters but realized we had been looking at the Bridges restaurant menu (it's separate from Tap&Barrel Bridges). No oysters available at T&B but we decided to stay anyway. The mussels were a perfect substitute. The dish was great, very flavorful and not too buttery as i've had other places. We enjoyed a few cocktails on the patio in the sun and ordered from the happy hour menu. Recommend trying the fried pickles. A great spot to check out on the island. We usually go the Sandbar when on Granville Island, but decided to give the Tap & Barrel a try. We wish we could give it more than a three star review, but the food really let it down. The interior is nice, the staff friendly, and the service was good. My West Coast chicken club was very salty, likely a seasoned filet of chicken that came off the truck, not good. The lovely K's Beef Dip was average at best. The meat was cooked to death and had almost no texture at all. The au jus was also flat, with little depth of flavour, which is essential for a good beef dip. Both meals had very darkly toasted colour, bordering on burnt. The fries were plentiful, but not terribly hot at all. It's unfortunate that our food was poor, $26 for the beef dip and $23 of the chicken should provide a good meal. Next time we'll go back to the Sandbar. read more

I took my niece here after a day of exploring the Granville Island Market. We have both been to other Tap and Barrel locations so we were familiar with the menu. I was craving seafood so I went with the prawn cocktail and the tuna tartare, both of which were very fresh and nicely presented. She chose the Mediterranean bowl with chicken as it's one of her favourite menu items. We had both gotten some lemonade in the market so we ended up sticking with water at dinner, which our server made sure to fill regularly for us. The noise level was quite high as the place was absolutely packed. Despite it being super busy, service was above average - I appreciate the team approach here, as we did have some additional people clearing dishes and bringing a box for our leftovers. The last time I'd eaten here was before T&B took over. It's nice to see some changes while still maintaining the familiar building facade. Our server was great, and made excellent food and drink recommendations, so this has nothing to do with her, but I was really not a fan of the ambience. We walked in and I asked for a quiet spot, and clearly the person seating us did not understand me. Because we were seated indoors surrounded by speakers and had to listen to Brittany Spears or Backstreet Boys the whole time. I did not realize that this would be a place with super loud music. It has this gorgeous view, but it's hard to enjoy with the giant televisions everywhere. And it was really difficult to hear my lunch companions. In terms of food, I liked my customized beer flight (yay Dino sour!) and lobster roll, and the kids loved their food and complimentary desserts (gelato or apples with caramel). I even liked the waffle fries with the cheese curds and poutine! It was so much better than the cheese curds I had in Wisconsin years ago. When we walked outside, I saw that they were piping the music out there, too, but it was still quieter than indoors. Honestly, I wish I'd just eaten at the public market. I wish this place would dial down the pop and sports bar feel, at least at this location. But if you're looking for a place where the silences are filled with bad to so-so music, this place is for you. So maybe come here with your in-laws. read more

After a day out whale watching we didnt want to travel too far and decided to come here for a burger and drinks. The hostess let us know it was about a 5-10 minute wait for the patio which was very reasonable for a dinner time rush. They have a variety of appetizers, burgers, and plated options. Not seen is the lettuce chicken wrap appetizer that ordered which came with large lettuce so you can pile them up. The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The fries were extra crispy and paired perfectly with the cider on tap. Although there are a lot of food options nearby this is also a good option to choose from. read more
