    Chips & Guac

We had a streak where we were coming here every Friday and taking friends anytime we wanted a nice spot to meet-up. When it first opened, a reservation was definitely needed, but we've popped in several times at off hours with no problems. Maybe get one if you like to go at traditional hours. The cocktails are well balanced, and the food is well thought out between, fat, salt, acid, and texture! The Elote, Brisket Entree, Chips & Guac and Kale Caesar are the standouts! They always provide AMPLE guac - you'll have more guac than chips, which is a good problem to have! It's very thick & flavorful, and yummy pops of sea salt come through on the chips! Elote, no notes. The brisket entree is like a hearty charcuterie where you can rotate through flavors and won't get sick of one heavy item. The Kale Salad was surprising, only note is to ask for an extra lime wedge! Residential street parking, friendly service, this is on the pricier side as most cocktail bars are!

Went there for Valentine's Day dinner! They didn't have their regular menu available on Valentine's Day, but I really enjoyed my lemon pepper salmon. The chicken in the pasta was also very well-seasoned. Service was also fast despite they got busy right after we were seated. Brownies were also very good, and the dessert was worth every penny. Vibes were super cool and bathrooms were also nice. My only complaint is that music was a little too loud and it'd have been cuter if jazz or softer music was played that day.

A great visit for our first time. This is a local spot we have been eyeing since they began construction. Even from the outside you can tell how cool of a vibe it is. The decor is also so fun. Stopped by with no reservation on a Friday as they also had a DJ- we were greeted right away by friendly staff. They did seem surprised by our lack of reservation but were able to find space for us which was very welcoming. The food was delicious & the portions were great! Delicious mocktails and cocktails as well! It is smaller so in the future I will make a reservation but the vibe I get is that it is a very communal space & welcoming. They have a very limited parking lot 5-6 spots but there is a lot of street parking as well.

This place is such a hidden gem!! (And I don't use that word lightly) North Minneapolis has lots of great restaurants and this is a great Black-owned business to support. The ambiance and decorations were lovely, and the food was really good! I got the Cantaloupe Mocktail and Miso Salmon. Their hush puppies were amazing, first time I had it! We went during the lunch hour and it was pretty empty, though I've heard the dinner or night life scene is the best! They have DJs come on special occasions. The staff were also very kind! There's a big parking lot too. I would definitely visit again!

Tap In is a true gem in North Minneapolis, nestled right on the border of Robbinsdale.** Elegantly decorated with a welcoming vibe, it's the kind of place that feels both elevated and deeply rooted in community. The food is consistently delicious, the drinks are inventive and exciting, and the service is always kind, attentive, and caring. I make it a point to visit several times a month--it's that good. In the summer, the venue transforms when two large garage doors open to create an airy, open-concept atmosphere. There's nothing like enjoying a cocktail and a bite while soaking in the fresh breeze and sunshine. Favorites from the menu include the greens, salmon, chicken and chicken wings, Brussels sprouts, and sweet potatoes. The signature cocktail menu is a standout--I'm partial to the Mexacalita and the Old Fashioned. And for dessert? The peach cobbler crumble and apple fritters with vanilla ice cream are absolute musts. Tap In fills a much-needed gap as a sit-down destination in North. Treat yourself--and bring a friend. You'll be glad you did.

This place was a pleasant surprise for my birthday. Me and a great friend went on a weekend. I didn't know what to expect except the posts I've seen on Instagram. I didn't know what to expect. I'll say this. The gram didn't do this place justice. We were really impressed! Location 4/5 this Northside location is conveniently located near the Robbinsdale off the main street but the noise level is minimal. There was plenty of side street parking; Tap In seemed to be finishing their parking lot. It would be a convention option if they did. Ambiance 5/5 The rich earth tones of brown stucco, glass garage doors, figurines and books mixed with 90's neosoul & R&B just ushers in a chill vibe. The lighting fixtures were so earthly and beautiful. They had a nice patio area, will definitely be back in warmer weather. Service / Cost 4/5 Veey a welcoming hostess, attentive waitress and great food. The Brussel Sprouts and Elotes were flavorful along with the Parmesan fries which were fried to perfection w/every crispy bite! Great app choices. The Rum Punch was packing a punch, it is was goodt! Reasonably priced food and drinks Salmon dinner $34 - underwhelming $14Rum Punch Elotes $13 Overall 10/10 I'll recommend and will be back..such a lovely place.

I met up with a friend for dinner at this new restaurant in Minneapolis, I used to work nearby and was thrilled to hear about it. I've heard many good things about the food and suggested we come try it. The restaurant is pretty, reminds me of Mexico resort with the lights and unique wall. They had 1 server that day, and the bartenders had come to assist in taking orders and serving food. Food was delicious, very flavorful and big portions. I enjoy craft cocktails and drinks were also delicious.

The Tulum inspired decor makes it a great place for photos and making you feel like you're somewhere exotic, I loved it! My group had a reservation and was seated right away. But once we were seated no one served us for at least 20 minutes and that was only because I flagged someone down. During this time the host brought over a free appetizer which I'm sure was because we had not been served yet. Once the waiter took our order the drinks came out quickly and then shortly after we got our food. The drinks were delicious! The appetizer we got for free was the loaded fries and everyone said they were great! They were hot and the brisket was perfect. I also order fried green tomatoes but they came out with my meal instead of beforehand. They were crisp and freshly made! As for the entrees- since everyone loved the brisket I got the brisket meal. Unfortunately the Mac and cheese was dry and cold but the brisket was good and hot. My sister got the catfish sandwich which looked great but was actually cold along with her fries. She sent it back and opted not to get anything else. My other sister got the salmon sandwich and she said it was good! She shared a piece with our sister and she agreed. While we were eating the bartender brought my sister another drink after hearing about her sending her food back. She offered to bring my sister something else but my sister declined. Overall, the ambiance and music were great. The food was okay but needs to be served more appropriately and the service needs a lot of work. As a new restaurant it gives them an opportunity for growth!

Delicious food, some off street parking, cute, trendy space and super friendly staff.

We kept it real simple with fried chicken, mac and cheese, hush puppies, and a catfish sandwich. We finally got our catfish cooked right and baby I fell in love with the hush puppies. Shout out to the beautiful atmosphere and good service. Also, isn't my drink so cute? I've really been enjoying my N/A drinks.

Love the vibes and artistry of this small restaurant. Let's get to the food. Let's start with the best, the chicken wings were phenomenal. They were fried crispy and they were dry rubbed in lemon pepper, but you could tell the dry rub lemon and pepper was marinated within the chicken batter. Not just some seasoning thrown on. Very very phenomenal. I'm a brussels sprout fein right now and they were not the best ever but far from the worst. Ok now for the brisket, let's make this quick. I will never get it again. Same goes for mac & cheese, that was just a poor display of Mac. And I'm unfortunately a Mac and cheese connoisseur. The cornbread, yeah, no. If I just had the wings and brussels sprouts this would be close to five out of five stars. But my entree choice just was a miss unfortunately.

This place has great ambiance! It's so cute inside, definitely does not feel like "the hood." The service was lacking due to their limited staff, our server literally had us parched, we had to flag down a waiter to get water. The food was very mediocre. We tried a number of things and had to send the burnt Brussel sprouts back! -The dry rub wings were decent -The corn bread really tasted like something out of an "easy bake" oven! -The greens were riddled with vinegar and my face squinted after eating a bite! -The fries were good Although the ambiance was really nice, I would say they need to work on their menu items or change some recipes, too many disappointments.

The drive was not that bad from Eagan, plus if you new here, get a chance to see a little bit of the city.. The Tap In is very nice the Vibe when you walk in is very nice.. I was greeted when I came in. The server was very nice... I order a drink right away and my food. The food was very fast. While sitting there waiting, they opened the doors a very nice day out, music was playing in the background. You can go outside they had a Dj very nice. The wings were very salty The drink was so good and fries nice The parking is street parking.. They are working on that, I think, which is helpful if you left that be known on the website. The bathroom and wash room it's a vibe.. Try it.. Might be a vibe for you..

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

They described it as an upscale dive bar which I laughed at for sure, but when I went I would say that exactly how I would describe it. It's dark and moody, but very funky and hip with the neon walls and lights. It's very small, behind the new Public Domain space. Seems like the hostesses direct people waiting on a spot there to Neon Tiger while they wait. We were able to snag one of the last tables after we ordered (there are about 5 tables for 2, and 3 standing bar tables from what I remember). The menu isn't large - it has a couple of beers, some basic cocktails and lists spirits and mixers. The only new and exciting thing on the menu is their slushy cocktails. Good news is that this place isn't very pricey, but the portions aren't huge. My small espresso martini was $12, my boyfriend's beer didn't quite look like a full pint but was only $4. We did laugh that it was called Tiger piss. The espresso martini is good, but beware there's no actual cream liquor in the drink - they seem to squirt some foamy concoction from an unmarked squeeze bottle in a fridge on top, which was interesting. Overall, would come back here if I was bar hopping for cocktails - but wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. Great idea to send people here while waiting for Public Domain!

The drink round started...I was recommended the lavender haze and went for it. It was light and fruity which I like. We had ordered crispy calamari, steam mussels, lobster pappardelle, and chilean sea bass to share. Crispy calamari - cornmeal & parmesan crusted, buttermilk, harissa, nam pla, spicy mayo. This was crispy and delicious. The nam pla was like the Vietnamese fish sauce and was tasty. Steamed mussels - white wine, garlic butter were delicious. The bread was soft and the seasoning on the bread was really good. Dipped that in the nam pla sauce which made it a yummy combo too. Lobster pappardelle - brown butter, calabrian chili, basil flavors were delightful. Good chunks of lobsters mixed into the pasta. Chilean Sea Bass - ginger coconut sauce, sweet & sour cucumbers, kaiware. This was super delicious. I like the ginger coconut sauce over the sea bass. I wanted more. I'll be back for sure!
