We were planning to try one of each taco but they had already run out of the pulled pork. They wrapped each taco individually in aluminum foil to keep it warm which was a nice touch, though they didn't bring out the red and green sauces until we asked for them. Brisket Taco ($9): The brisket was a bit dry but the slice was pretty thick and it paired well with the acidity of the pickles. Carne G Taco ($6): Super cheesy and heavy. The flavors weren't bad but I felt pretty gross after eating one and it left me really bloated.

The beef samosas were absolutely excellent crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of our meal. Between the rolls, I preferred the shami kabab roll over the chicken tikka roll, though both were enjoyable. The mango lassi was decent, but not particularly memorable. The sweet lady behind the counter was incredibly kind, and it's clear that the people running this place are hardworking and passionate about what they do. We were visiting from Houston and took the food back to our hotel room for a late-night snack. We're so glad we decided to stop by! Mona's (a portmanteau of the parents names' first syllables) has a small menu of traditional offerings, from samosas, patties, parata rolls, and chutneys. The truck is helmed by Momma Mona but her twin sons run the operations and have crafted the recipes. I tried several items and it is absolutely ridiculous how delicious everything was. The samasos of potato (papa) were expertly crafted and reminded me of flautas de papa when they are done right. Crispy, flavorful, and "light" ... just perfect. The parata rolls, made from an egg based recipe, was expertly crafted; the shami kabab was filled with beef. Paired with the mint chutney, it was a great balance. The sauces were on point and varied in heat level, but nothing excessive. Sameer (sp?) explained that the sauces are a bit on the milder side to accomodate the taste palate but the spiciest version had some punch. Last but not least was the beef patty which was a stellar, absolutely phenomenal flaky pastry with their signature shredded spicy chicken. It rivaled some of the best bakery offerings I've had, the flakiness left me laughing out loud from the quality. Whenever I venture into another culture's cuisine, I can certainly tell if I like it or not, but not how rooted the dishes are. I appreciated Sameer's discussion of his families food; his mom has been in the industry for years and finally decided to venture out with her twin sons. I'm glad they did. I ordered an al pastor, lengua, and asada taco, and honestly, they were all so good. The asada was my favorite, but the other two were right behind it. The meat was flavorful, and the salsas had some heat to them, which I appreciated!!! My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito, and it was just okay. The chicken was shredded and could've used a little more seasoning for my taste. I'm also not a huge fan of lettuce in a burrito, so that may have played a part in it not being my favorite. That being said, I'm definitely coming back because those tacos were SO good. Next time, I want to give the burrito another shot and order it my way. If it's anything like the tacos, I have a feeling it'll be a winner.

Parking in the close in garage is $8 so if you bring friends, it can price out to a decent price for friends and all to carpool together. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a budget to not blow my allotted amount of eating out, I'd have one of everything and roll myself down the hill. Bring a large blanket to lay out on the grass, chairs to sit in should you want. Side note: they are sticklers for NO dogs on the pavement but they can certainly be on the grass. There were koozies given out by Austin Brew Company and paper fans and bug repellant, as well as doggy treats and doggy poop bags from the nearby highrise, The Catherine, marketing their beautiful new place to live. Always have a friend with you (safety first at night, someone to sit with your things and pet). If you have a pet don't bother going up the stairs they won't let you. Especially if you are coming up from taking your dog for a walk along the trail down below. 3. Be prepared to hurry up and wait. 4. keep eyes on the prize, if you want to get food from a truck watch when it dies down a bit. 5. they won't have a full menu, possibly because there's a lot of people and would probably cause a longer wait time than the usual. 6. May be helpful to bring blanket, or chair, and napkins (paper towels or wash cloth or some wipes) just in case. 7. Prepare to spend some money for both food and parking. Those are the reasons why I'm at a toss up on going sometimes. So I've been there on a weekend (they had it on a weekend once) and I've been here on the actual tuesday. They trucks change each time. I like that we can atleast say we have tried it and got an idea of what the truck is like. The prices are a bit high for what you get. It's just a great thing to do if you are social or want to be social or to meet up with friends under the stars or to have a romantic fun time. And y'all.... no lie: that was hands-down one of the best hot dogs I've ever had! The "O.G." contains shredded chese, queso fresca, grilled onions, Jalapeños, & beans. And wow, it was amazing! I've never had a hot dog with this combination of toppings before. Apparently it's an El Paso thing, and it works! They have a total of 4 styles & will be back the next 3 Wednesdays to try them all. If you're local to the ATX- area, don't skimp out on El Perrito! Once you figure out their menu & order the right things, it's pretty damn great!
