    Carnitas tacos here we go....
    Dennis H.

We were surprised to find the yellow mobile Cocina on the northeast corner of the intrsection. We decided to keep it simple, street tacos and a drink. Four carnitas and two asada later, our appetites sated and our brows sweating, we were done. Time to wash it down with the Mandarin Jarritos. Green sauce is hot but the red sauce is way hotter. All in all, a nice place to stop for tacos. No seating tho....oh well...

First off, huge shoutout to the staff at both locations. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a group of about 12 showing up and ordering at different times, plus another large party there, and they handled it all really well. The patio has such a great Midtown vibe, and I'm always happy supporting local small businesses. We ordered a little bit of everything: ribeye gorditas with homemade tortillas, street tacos, quesadillas, loaded papas, elote, and I even attempted the AYCE tacos. The carnitas was some of my favorite in town, the guac was delicious, and my friend loved the skirt steak tacos. Plus, the three salsas they serve are all so good. Tacos are always subjective, but I'd absolutely recommend giving Ana's a try because there's something for everyone on the menu. The cocktails are fun too, and I'll definitely be back.

The moment we walked in I expected someone's grandma to be on the kitchen yelling at the staff to go faster. The staff was very attentive and our food was quicker then I ever imagined and so delicious. Warning ir is small on the inside and a little loud. Next time we will sit outside.

Mexcal is a taco joint serving up elevated tacos that you can order one by one. These things are loaded up with protein and toppings, and they do not skimp on the portions! The flavor combinations are absolutely unreal, and I love that they have some unique protein options, too. I tried the duck confit, the spicy lamb, and the short rib tacos. My dad ordered the al pastor and quesabirria tacos. We both agreed that the short rib was our favorite. Tender short rib in a delicious sauce topped with fresh guac. Fantastic! I was also shocked by how much duck they loaded up the duck confit taco with. That was probably my second favorite. Super tender duck with tons of flavor. The vibe here is casual, but it can be a nice, elevated date night spot. I really enjoy that you can order one or two tacos and then order more if you're still hungry. The service between orders is fast enough that you don't have to feel pressured to order them all at the same time. Overall, very impressed with Mexcal, and it will often be one of my recs to others looking for a great bite in the midtown/downtown area.

Located in a shopping center next to Ramey's supermarket, Carmelita's Taqueria delivers the best menudo in town and also serves some of the best scratch chilaquiles you will ever find. We visited on a Saturday morning and was able to find seating for our family. The menu's diverse selection covers the traditional items you expect but if you want to experience more variety, you have those options as well. Carmelita's delivers generous portions with reasonable prices. I must say everything is handmade and easily full of delicious flavors and also salsas to meet any pallet. We tried the menudo, pozzole, chilaquiles and other dishes and all were perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. Again, best menudo and the garnishments provided were all fresh to include homemade tortillas. Restaurant was very clean and service was excellent. They can accommodate large groups but be mindful this place is very popular. Carmelita's Taqueria is highly recommended. I do expect to visit several more times before heading back home. You must give this place a try!!

I also had to grab the high chair myself (I'm pregnant) while carrying my toddler and the high chair. Other than that, the food was great! I had the menudo and my son had the chicken tenders with fries. I like how crispy the fries and chicken were and the menudo was very flavorful and rich in broth. You can get half an order of menudo or a full order and i definitely could have done with half an order. The full order is worth the price for the portion size and the dish comes with freshly made tortillas. I highly recommend trying this place if you're in the area and hungry. The agua de Jamaica was really good too.

Quality/Quantity - Craving tacos so we wanted to check out this place…read more Both my wife and I got the Tacos de Barbacoa and we both enjoyed this over the other tacos. My wife's regular taco was chicken and mine was chorizo. I enjoyed my chorizo taco also. The tacos came with both a green and red sauce, both of which were good. The red sauce had a slight kick to it. Overall the food and tacos were good. Simple menu. Lunch specials available. Complimentary chips and salsa - The salsa was thin, I prefer a thicker salsa. Not much quantity so we had to ask for more. They gave us a little more. Seemed kind of stingy. Ambiance - Decent size location. Not busy at all on a Friday prime dinner time. This should have been a sign... Table, booth, and bar seating. Limited mall parking in front, but no problem getting a good space. Your outside signage needs some repairs. Service - Just okay. I had to ask for everything; utensils, more chips, etc. The younger female employee was better than the older one. Price - $19; reasonable. Plus a more generous tip then earned... But I did NOT appreciate the hidden charges. 50¢ extra for chorizo. 3.5% credit card fee. If you disclosed it, it would NOT have made a difference, but nowhere on the menu nor did any employee mention these additional charges. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2018...?

I had a tostada Ala carte and requested no protein this time. I should have gotten a chicken tostada because all that was on it was beans, lettuce and a little cheese. But that was what I ordered and it was still good. Though at $5.99 for a tiny vegetarian tostada, it wasn't the best deal. Too pricy for a small tostada. I'll stick with my favorite dish next time which are the 3 street chicken tacos with rice and beans. Like everywhere else, the prices have sure gone up. But they have updated some of their decor over the years to improve the dining space. Service was nice to from the gal at the counter. After skipping it for about 30 years I thought I should give it a shot and see if maybe things were different??? Not really. In summary the food is decent but there are better choices in town in my humble opinion, I grew up in Tijuana Norte (San Diego) so I value authentic spices, preparations, and flavors.
