Best Italian place in the SGV! I'd driven by this tiny hole-in-the-wall place for years and had never noticed it, until my hair stylist took me here. It's the best. So authentic. The spicy pasta with chicken is my fave. The garlic knots are to die for! The pizza is pretty good too. I've also had the chicken Caesar salad and that's delicious too, and a good size portion. We have been coming here off and on for approx 20 years. We stopped in the other day to pick up a few of our favorite things. The server remembered me instantly by name, asked about my husband and kids by name and knew exactly what I was coming for. Impressive. The Spinach and Garlic pizza is our favorite. It is loaded with deliciously seasoned spinach and covered with a variety of cheese. Very tasty and lots of garlic. Puttanesca Pasta is my other favorite dish here. It is spicy and the sauce is absolutely flavorful. LOVE IT. It was a bit too spicy for my dad but it was perfect for me and my husband. If I could, I would eat at Tarantino's at least once a week. I've come for lunch a couple of times and by noon, the restaurant is packed. Go to Tarantino's if you like great tasting, home-cooked Italian food for lunch. I've had the spicy tomato pasta, which is garlicky and not that spicy for me (not to worry, I add the chili flakes to my liking) and very tasty. Drove out here because their long beach sister restaurant went out of business. I loved the Florentine pizza at the long beach location. Unfortunately the Florentine pizza in Pasadena was soo salty my friends and I had a very hard time eating it. So so so much salt after one slice had to throw away. The faces everyone was making cuz of the high saltiness was comparable to when you eat something really sour. I have a love-hate relationship with the Tucci Special - a wonderful garlicky shrimp pizza that is hard to find anywhere else. Sometimes you get the pizza and it is oh so wonderful - the perfect amount of crust-to-cheese ratio and the toppings evenly placed, cooked well, and very tasty. Other times, you get a glob of undercooked cheese, or really wet pizza from concentrated clumps of fresh tomato, or parts with way too much crust and not enough topping.
