We've happily been going to Tarpy's for years.... at least 25. Always a great experience. Fun bringing out of town guests to see/hear the planes overhead. Yet, two days ago, stopping in before taking a friend to the airport, I'll sum up....... (sat outside as it was a glorious warm day) and counted no less than 30 mice/rats running in and out of the wait station. A couple servers were actually startled by them, one shrieked. I get it, it's outside, ivy is everywhere, but this is a food service! When I saw two of the critters go into a lady's wheelchair storage, that's when I said "enough". Paid the bill...left. 8/2/2025 We recently went to TARPY'S for dinner. I ordered a pasta dish & you could add chicken or grilled shrimp. I got 3 shrimp! The pasta had no flavor! We also ordered some kind of salad with apple slices, candied walnuts. Even the salad had no flavor. I guess I should've asked for more dressing but I shouldn't need to if it was tossed with dressing in the first place. The bruschetta appetizer we ordered was the same. 4 pieces of bread with cheese on it blistered cherry tomatoes, chopped basil for decoration. Again NO FLAVOR! I thought it was just me but we were a party of four & everyone at the table were disappointed. We all had different items for dinner. This isn't the first time we've been there nor second or third. The food was exquisite. I had the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I asked for it rare and it was exactly how I liked it. We had chocolate cake for dessert and I highly recommend - moist cake and rich frosting. We also had a pretzel appetizer that we devoured. However if you don't want honey mustard on it ask for that on the side. Solid margarita. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. Classy establishment. We had such an amazing dinner here! First, their patio dining they have per Covid restrictions is wonderful. Their patio is gorgeous and they have portable heaters available at each table. Second, people have complained that the highway next to the business is loud. I only noticed the traffic noise a few times (when someone was really getting after it). It is also by the airport and there were some low flying planes going right above us. I thought it was kind of fun though! Ok---the food. AMAZING. I am super picky and was surprised to see a few options that I really wanted to try. Ask for bread to start with (if you are a bread fiend like me). Warm and yummy sourdough bread! I enjoyed the bread with a glass of red wine. For dinner I decided on the Venison because I love it and it can be hard to get. I ordered mine simply grilled without the sauce, etc and cooked medium-rare. And they hooked me up with just plain, steamed veggies due to dietary restrictions. It was all delicious. I ate every bit. Except for the carrots (not a fan). My dining partner got the epic burger and he loved it too!! Definitely worth the price (for a burger) and he ate it all. He also got the creme brûlée for dessert, which he said had nice flavor. Service--- OUTSTANDING. Our waiter was on it! We were taken care of and checked on regularly and everything came out quickly. LOL, let me say right off, the sign does not fit the restaurant (sign looks like a restaurant that would be on the Monterey pier. The patio is very nice, inside is nice with a well stocked bar. I noticed when we came here to meet a friend for an 11:30 lunch, the place was quickly filling up, a lot of family get togethers with young and old, which leads me to say if you have a party member that has a walker even wheel chair, there is plenty of room to maneuver around tables. Service was excellent throughout our meal. Of course, being on vacation, I indulge in couple Lemon Drops. Food that was ordered: Lobster Bisque, Spicy Tuna Tacos, Dungeness Crab Cakes, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich, Iceberg Wedge Salad, and a daily special Chilean Sea Bass. COVID 19 SAFETY MEASURES: All the staff are properly wearing a mask (covers their nose and mouth)! They also make sure YOU are wearing a mask if you need to go inside to use the bathroom. Their outdoor seating was super cute with their outdoor lights! The tables were also nicely spread apart. STAFF: Everyone working there was super friendly and nice! My server was Amy and she was the best. FOOD: -Crispy Calamari: I enjoyed the 2 sauces that came with it. It went really well with the calamari. I did wish that the calamari was a bit more crispy tho. -12 Hour Brisket: The brisket was super tender! It did not take any effort to break the meat apart. -Romaine Salad: This was a very basic cesar salad. There wasn't anything special about this. -Prawn Pasta: I really enjoyed this dish! Lunch with an ex coworker and her daughters. Arrived early to ensure I got a table outside since I have a service animal (many ppl have issues with service animals inside). I arrived at the same time as a larger party and waited my turn. The hostess left to ensure the larger party the table was ready. In comes a senior citizen and announced she has a reservation to a host as he approached. The host did not ask me if I had been helped, just checked the reservation book and proceeded to seat her. When the original hostess returned, I politely inquired why I was not seated before the patron that had arrived after me. Hostess simply said that the host must have thought I was with the other party ( I was standing and the other party was sitting) and proceeded to seat me. I saw she spoke to the host and pointed towards me later. The host said nothing. The food is great: meatloaf, crudo and lemon cheesecake were all amazing. Ambience was beautiful. The drink itself is ok but watery and mostly ice so drink fast or it will be very watery! The wait staff at our table was impeccable! The calamari is delicious! Get extra of the spicy aioli sauce you won't be able to stop dipping the calamari in it once you try it! The steak was good but steak is easy, the mashed potatoes however are delicious and a little harder to achieve great potatoes. Asparagus was good too! I had been wanting to try this place for YEARS and my fiance finally made it possible! We came here during our vacation and it was everything I'd hope it would be. An absolutely marvelous scene. There's even a pond out in front of the restaurant. We decided to sit out on the patio with the live music and omg I felt like I was in a romantic film. Customer service was nice and swift. The burgers we ordered were absolutely delectable. So much flavor. It was hard not to come here a few days in a row but I wanted to give other restaurants a try as well. The restaurant looks nice but the food is just not tasty, flavorless and sometimes even not eatable. I was debating to reply what i really think when i was asked how was the food? Well, it was bad. The artichoke was not chewable, steak was not rare done , but raw . And there is a difference. Just in case, my spouse ordered medium done. The prices are high for appetizers, but the portion is tiny. We ordering this appetizer a lot in different places. Here it was about third size of regular fried calamari. Came here with wife to eat lunch. Was a nice day so sat outside. They have a lot of outdoor seating and it is very nice. Was seated right away and will say the staff were very friendly. As we were asked about our drink selection I asked for some bread. They do not offer free bread. They only offer off their app selection. So you pay for bread. Considering the price and the type of restaurant this place is was a little out off by this. Can not remember ever having to pay for a side of bread. As for the meal itself it was good. At long last, after driving by Tarpy's a zillion times, we finally made a lunch reservation this past weekend. First off, super cute place. I loved the outdoor patio. The birds were chirping, a lady sang and it was just warm enough in the sun to enjoy a glass of wine. I ordered the brisket for lunch, we shared the deviled eggs for an appy. I loved the eggs - fried capers on top were nice (not too salty) but the zesty aioli they serve them over was just perfect. I little salt, a little lemony. Very nice. The brisket was cooked well. Just a bit of mostly rendered fat on it. Moist throughout. The bbq sauce was good, but personal choice I enjoy mustard base bbq more. A huge portion which I unfortunately couldn't finish. Service was meh... by no fault of the waitress herself who was really sweet, and trying really hard. It was pretty clear that they were understaffed, as we waited over 20 minutes just for our credit card to be processed and an older "gentle"men with a table next to us bitched non-stop about how he was in a rush for a wedding and his table of nine hadn't been served yet (PS - don't come at the busiest time on a Saturday). I'd definitely come back to Tarpy's again. They have a really diverse menu and the vibe is great. read more

Cartoony branding steakhouse spot trying to be fine dining, but falls just short of both. I'd love if they decided what they wanted to be and just leaned in to it. Prices were that of a fine dining steakhouse, but the food fell short of the prices set. The ambiance was confusing as you walk in expecting a "road house", due to the cartoony branding, but get more of a fancy button up shirt and wine vibe. The service was good, zero issues there at all. Food was ok, but the fries were delicious. Everyone loves a crunchy roasted potato wedge (and if you don't you're the problem). Overall, not a terrible spot but I can enjoy other solid steakhouses at more affordable prices, with better serving sizes, and an ambience that makes sense. read more

First time here. The wedge salad was huge, good thing we split it. I got the shrimp and grits with carrot puree, which was good and too big to finish. Husband got ribs, which were on the dry side and even bigger portion to not finish. I guess anything that doesn't come on your plate is extra, like bread. This spot is a gem, such a great mix of great food/ambiance and family friendly. 10/10 recommend eating on the patio with a toddler, the planes fly over every 10-15 min and we're a great distraction during our dinner time. I'm sure it could annoy some people but for us it was great. The service staff was very attentive, took our sons order right away and made sure he had a sippy cup. Came here for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. He had the Cioppino (sp?) I had the butter salad with beets and a crab cake. His was $30! I think it was overpriced. My crab cake was $13- good but overpriced. The salad was fine, mostly just butter lettuce, a few julienned beets and a pinch of walnuts and cheese and was $18- definitely overpriced. He ordered coffee- they didn't bring cream. He patiently waited for someone to appear 5 minutes later so he could ask for some. Who brings coffee and doesn't offer cream? Weird. My iced tea was "sport tea" which I don't care for. It's not real iced tea- it's super light. The patio was full of the smell of jasmine which was nice. The service was ok. Slow to get waited on and slow to get the check. He finally flagged a guy down. I can justify this kind of cost for dinner, not lunch. $80 before tip no alcohol. read more

First off, a beautiful restaurant with nice inside and outdoor heated seating. I came with a large group and we sat outside at one of the "fire pit" tables. Service was a bit off, likely due to them being unusually busy. Food was just OK. Some of our meals came out cold and had to be returned. I tried the ribs, which were a bit dry, likely because they had been sitting around for a while. Also tried the duck, which was a very small portion for the price. Basically two small breasts plopped on the plate. The skin wasn't crispy, the duck wasn't sliced and it was quite chewy. But the broccoli was excellent! Also tried the bruschetta, deviled eggs and pretzel. If the 3, I thought the pretzel was the best. Big, hot, fresh with really nice mustard and cheese dipping sauces. For dessert we had the bread pudding which we also felt was excellent. A different style than I'm used to. Kinda eggy (in a good way) and vanilla forward, but nicely executed.
