12 oz Grilled USDA Prime New York Steak with Truffle Butter
    Kevin O.

NICK WAS NICE. Date night in Monterey. Heard they had great steak. 12oz New York steak was good. Double up on the truffle butter and use it on the side of potatoes. I was dipping everything in truffle butter. The fried artichoke hearts were great. It tastes like a mom and pop burgers fried zucchini's. That's not a bad thing if it's enjoyable. If you order the angus steak and the New York steak, they come with the best of both worlds for side dishes. I split the mashed potatoes from the angus steak and some broccolini from the New York steak. And it was a decent balance of protein, veggies and butter haha. Nick was a funny guy. He was friendly and there Every time we needed him. Didn't realize I had made reservations 45 minutes before closing time. We may have been the last couple in the restaurant but he didn't make us feel rushed.

Tarpy's *never disappoints! We held a memorial service here for my beloved in-laws. The staff went above and beyond. They set the room up beautifully and placed some extra tables out for us, which enabled us to play a video, display flowers and photos. The food was served at the perfect temperature and was plentiful. The staff was able to accommodate a group that was far larger than originally anticipated and they were kind enough to set up another large table. Unfortunately I didn't capture any recent photos but again Tarpy's has remained consistent. Thank you Tarpy's!

Dinner at Tarpy's Roadhouse This place just hits every time. The fried artichoke appetizer (not pictured ) is a MUST -- crispy, flavorful, and so addicting. The bruschetta is fresh and perfectly balanced, and their rotating specials like cioppino and roasted duck always deliver. It's one of those go-to spots for special occasions (my grandparents love it here), and the ambiance makes it feel a little extra special every time. Yes, it's on the pricier side -- but when you're in the Salinas/Monterey area, it's a solid choice for a nice dinner with consistently good food.

First time visit near Laguna Seca Racetrack. The historic building has lovingly been maintained. Service was excellent and the food outstanding.

Daphne was the "breath of fresh air" greeter for the celebration of life I was attending for my Auntie P Andrew was the assistant GM born and raised from the Valley. Jessica, Karen & Natalie were all present as waitresses with the "smile". I failed to photograph pictures of all the yummy goodness food. In spite of cognitive decline with my purpose is to introduce the "finer cuisines" to my hungry peeps!! I highly recommend Tarpy's Roadhouse for all your fine dining indulgences. Yes this was totally a "celebration of life" experience

It was my cousin's birthday so I made a reservation for a party of 13 on open table. They were able to accommodate for a wheelchair user and also decorated the table with colorful confetti which a cute touch. We had a great bilingual server which was extremely helpful since my grandma and aunt primarily speak spanish. All the adults got cocktails, while the kids got variations of lemonade mixes. Of all the cocktails we we taste tested, I think the best choice was definitely the mango margarita. For appetizers, we got complimentary bread, calamari and fried artichoke. I am not usually the biggest fan of fried food, but it was the birthday boy's choice. I was impressed by both dishes, especially the fried artichoke. For my main dish I got the New York Steak with Truffle Butter, which was cooked to the perfect medium rare. At the end of our meal, the birthday boy got a complimentary sorbet with a candle. The server even offered to take our pictures and took a couple of group shots. Overall we had a great night, from the drinks to the food to the service. We loved this choice for a celebration night and will definitely be back.

I came here for the first time with some gym buddies where we completed a nice hike nearby. One of my friends recommended this place as they've been many times. We came on a Sunday around the early afternoon and it was moderately busy. We sat outside in the patio area near the building, it was a very nice day. We were greeted by a very nice server who took our drink order. He was very charming and engaged with our table. I decided to go wit the BBQ chicken plate as I was very hungry after the hike and it came with cute corn bread shaped like a cactus. That was a nice touch. My friends had ordered salads and burger and they all enjoyed their meal. This place has ample parking and ample seating if you have a large party. I also wish I remembered our servers name, he was a delight. I recommend Tarpy's!

I like that this place had heaters outside if you wanted to enjoy the flowers and greenery on a chilly night. The inside is very classy and has nice decor. The staff is quick and friendly. My server was super friendly and funny! I had previous dinner plans canceled and last minute had to choose a new place.Thats when Tarpy's came up and I'm so glad it did. They still make their steaks flavorful and juicy, even with me ordering it well done. The calamari was tasty and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Definitely give this place a try if you like steak and seafood.

What a great place to enjoy a late afternoon! Martinis and a couple of appetizers. We sat outside in the courtyard, we were startled the first time a small private airplane flew right over us! Great service and we will be back soon!

First off it's a beautiful building restored in 1909 we were told. The happy hour is fantastic and priced great for the area. We had exceptional service from the server Nicholas! He said to call him Nick from Nepal. Such a great guy and the food was amazing as well. I highly recommend coming here if in the area. Ask for Nick he won the best server in Monterey County 5 years in a row.

Everything is 10/10 !! The food, service, the atmosphere is a vibe of its own. Just beautiful inside. Almost as if you're somewhere in a story book. Definitely worth dining here. Give them a try you will not be disappointed. We did not have reservations, came around 3 in the afternoon. They have their own parking lot so no stress on finding a place to park.

Went there for the 1st time and I must say I wasn't disappointed at all . Besides the very good food the interior was very pleasant and so was the energy of the establishment , and definitely returning sooner than later .

I have bee to this place many times and have had different experiences. Generally it has been lunch and food and service has been excellent. This time we went to dinner and the service was a bit slow, albeit our server did her best to accommodate everyone. The food was disappointing. The coffee rubbed wings were terrible. We had salad with salmon and a blackened salmon burger. Both were lacking flavor. My salad has no salad dressing and the blackened salmon was falling apart which tells me it was old.

Meats are from Snake River Farms which is good to know. The fresh Pacific oysters from Fanny Bay, Canada were outstanding. So fresh and not fishy at all and plus the jalapeño onion mignonette was sweet and so good that I saved it for my steak lol I loved the cap of my prime rib but the middle was a bit chewy like it is with most prime rib. i was really glad that the steak dinners come with the mashed potatoes and stir fry spinach (also glad it wasn't creamed spinach for a change). He enjoyed his ribeye as well. The salts are really interesting and we were told to use it sparingly since the steaks were already seasoned intentionally. He ordered a glass of Emblem and I had Bee's Knees which was pretty syrupy sweet in the way that honey is with a hint of bitterness. We shared a mini key lime pie which was pretty good and exactly what you would expect. The free birthday cannoli is so fun and was presented with a sparkler but unfortunately my least favorite because of the odd tasting candied fruits in the cream. We had an amazing time here and really enjoyed our dining here.

Starting with the Whaling Station Cheeseburger, it was cooked perfectly and the beef was juicy. However, it just needed a little more pizzazz. The bun could have been toasted for added texture, and the burger itself was lacking seasoning and a flavorful sauce to tie everything together. It felt like a well-cooked, classic burger but didn't quite stand out. The Beef Wellington was also well executed. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the puff pastry was beautifully flaky and held together nicely. My biggest critique was the saltiness. I understand the prosciutto naturally adds salt, but it seemed like the steak may have been seasoned as well, making the overall dish a bit too salty for my taste. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce served underneath, as it didn't complement the Wellington the way I expected. The spinach side was another miss, it tasted like previously frozen spinach that had been wilted down with bacon and wasn't very enjoyable. The real star of the night was the Twice Baked Loaded Potato. It was packed with flavor, perfectly creamy, and loaded just right. My only minor suggestion would be a crispier potato skin for a little extra texture, but even then, it was easily the highlight of the meal. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Service was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The ambiance felt upscale and perfect for a nice dinner out, although the seating arrangement felt a little awkward. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially with another order of that amazing twice baked loaded potato.

Crispy potatoes: Love the carbs! The potatoes were crispy and delicious. The lemon truffle crema sauce was so yummy! Oysters: Definitely order half shell oysters! They were delicious! Hamachi: This was okay, nothing special to be honest sinc Mussels: This one was also delicious as well. It was made with white wine and tomato broth with butter, shallot, garlic. Beets salad: You can't go wrong with ordering a beet salad! The honey vinaigrette was delicious! Santa Cruz King Salmon: This dish was simple but tasty. The Meyer lemon sauce went well with the salmon. 12oz Pork chop: The meat was soft and easy to bite into. The cauliflower puree was delicious! Snake River American Wagyu: I thought the steak was okay. It was a bit too rare for me personally but my husband liked it! Brussels sprouts: Yummmm! Love the crispy Brussels sprouts. You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. Things happen and hopefully we all get better from it.

They're seared with duck fat which gives it a great buttery taste, allowing you to taste the fatty flavor on cuts of meat that aren't the most fatty. The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert.

From the food to the drinks to the overall chic and comfortable ambiance, it was an absolute treat! The service was impeccable for our party of 8. We had various tequila drinks and the chips, salsa, hot sauces (some quite hot!) made for an exceptional start. I ordered the salmon, which was sitting on a bed of cauliflower mashed potatoes and draped with an arugula salad, topped with a mache chili oil drizzle. The taste was as perfect as the presentation! The best salmon I've ever had, indeed. One of the guest had birria tacos served with a split bone marrow! Never saw that combination before! He let me try some and it was delicious! Overall, a perfect setting, a perfect meal and a truly 5-star evening!!

If you're an Amex Platinum cardholder looking to burn Resy credits in Monterey, this Mexican restaurant is worth a try -- but manage your expectations. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which was a plus. Started with chips and guac and a couple of drinks, then ordered the chicken enchiladas and the skirt steak and arugula salad, adding shrimp to the salad. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fine, the service was fine -- nothing memorable, nothing bad. The real issue is price. Adding shrimp to a salad cost about $15, and our total with tip came out to around $140 for two people. For that price point in Monterey, I expected more from the food and overall experience. Would I come back? Probably not at full price. But if you have the Amex Platinum and quarterly Resy dining credits to use, it softens the blow enough to make it worth trying once.
