    Maple Old Fashioned Donut
    Marielu G.

The classic family owned/mom and pop donut shop that's been in business for a while. There's no seating inside but I did spot a couple of benches on the side of the building. I thought parking was going to be hectic due to Lion being in the same plaza, but there was plenty around the corner. They had a good selection of breakfast/ regular sandwiches. It was hard to decipher the prices due to it being updated multiple times with just a sharpie. I ordered a sausage egg croissant and old fashioned maple donut. Both MASSIVE and delicious! Half of the croissant down and I was already full, could definitely be a split meal. I came closer to closing time so they added complimentary donut holes and half a chocolate donut bar. I mean it with my whole heart when I say I would drive the extra 20 minutes just for these donuts. They're HEFTY but still fluffy/airy once you bite into them. Definitely a bang for your buck. I assume the worker that helped might be the owner- a nice older man who was very sweet. A great meal especially for the price too.

This place is great. Friendly and attentive staff. One of the best breakfast bagels around! Double sausage! Cheese is delicious. They also threw in a little extra treat for me at no charge! Good overall experience.

The Donuts are Tasty here at Tasty Donuts, from a true Donut lover! Donuts are my weakness and I can tell you straight up the donuts are TASTY! (hehe) I first discovered Tasty Donuts when I stayed Marriott Townplace, I spot the huge "Tasty Donut" sign and had to make sure the other half takes me, even though hotel has complimentary breakfast, it is right across the street (I could've walked over) and we already had breakfast. I can't say NO to donuts! The older couple that runs Tasty Donuts is super sweet and friendly! Mom and pop, hole in the wall business. This recent visit noticed the Yelp recognition posted on their door. Congrats! Yelpers do love you on Yelp! The prices are low for a donut, $1.50 and its also huge! Besides the pastry, I noticed there are food photos, the fried rice looked good, aunty said she needs a day notice and she only can make the fried rice by the tray for $100. and not per order. There are so many varieties of donuts here, but my favorite all time is the maple donut. I only can have one donut and most times the other half can't have sweets so its just me. If my big kids were visiting, they would get in on the donut goods! The verdict, after biting in to that tasty donut, it is so soft on the inside with a nice lite crunch to the outside of the donut and it is not too sweet, unlike the other donuts I've had. Its just perfect! Aunty/uncle would throw in some surprise/bonus, which is so nice of them! Totally recommend, check this business out for donuts and I have to say again, it is TASTY!!

I've been visiting this shop for over 2 years now but never got around writing a review, and the shop definitely deserves one!! not only are all the items fresh&delicious but the owners are extremely nice as well! the prices are affordable and there is so much to choose from. I usually get a breakfast sandwich and a few donuts, usually try different ones. I'll attach a few photos but I don't have many because I usually eat everything before taking pictures highly reccomend

7/18/24 FYI, I disagree!! See my review!

What a negative experience!! If you are following, you know it is rare that I give 1 star reviews. You have to have gone out of your way to EARN it!! Not Yelp's fault, but because of Yelp, I went out of my way to come here and even passed Stan's Donuts Shop (see my 5 star review) to come to support another small business. What a fail; see below's service information. If you are following, you also know since I am back in the Bay Area for what seems to be forever, I have been going OUT of my way to support as many local businesses as possible. Quality/Quantity - Came here to order two dozen donuts for my hard working team today. I walked out due to the extremely excessively rude male owner! Atmosphere - Small local business with NO customer service skills. See below. Service - I was in an extremely good mood when I got here; see my 5 star Yelp review from Starbucks; Homestead, Santa Clara. The male owner was extremely rude. Started yelling at me when I walked in. I didn't really understand him; I thought he was just the type of person that talked LOUD. Then when he did NOT stop yelling, I got closer to listen to what he was saying. He said I needed to ask for permission to take pictures as he saw me taking pictures outside (for Yelp of course). So I asked for permission... But he would NOT stop yelling, kept repeating himself. His wife came out and I believe told him to calm down but he would not. I can understand if you are having a bad day, but this was extreme. I tried to explain that I was taking pictures for him for Yelp to support small local businesses. He would NOT let me speak. So I said "okay, I will just leave" as he obviously does NOT want my business or any of my Yelp followers' business??? Maybe you should take down all your Yelp advertising signs posted on your windows! So did the other 123 photos that got posted on Yelp get yelled at...? Did they all ask for permission? Do you have a sign posted that reads NO PICTURES? What about all your pictures on Google? How do you run a business this way?!?! How are you over 4 stars on Yelp?!?! Price - N/A. Owner Comment - Do you treat people and/or your customers the way you want to be treated...? Don't worry, I hope to NEVER see you again. And if anyone brings your donuts to any of our events, I will throw them away and replace them with your competitors! Lastly, this will make a good story for everyone I know. Including the 4.9 million people that look at my photos on Yelp.

You've probably heard of Stans Donuts, they're great. But as a San Jose local, born and raised, Tasty Donuts will hold my heart forever as #1. The BEST caramel old fashion donuts to ever settle on your pallet come from here. Aside from the sweet stuff, they have amazing egg/ham/cheese croissants and empanadas to snack on for an affordable price. EVERYTHING is made fresh. And don't be forgetful, get a large hot coffee and load it up with French vanilla creamer when you get your donuts. If you don't drink coffee, you're lame...

    Never seen donuts this big

I found huge donuts at Tasty Donuts. I swear I wrote a review about the sausage bun resemble kolache at this donut shop before. Oh well. Must be a new owner. Yeah. Besides donuts, I was intrigued by the Cambodian menu. I really wanted to try the banh mi style sandwich. The lady behind the counter warned me about the wait time. Mmm... How did she know I'm in a hurry. The prices were updated with pieces of paper. I assume the inflation causes massive increase to match up with the rest of world. I guess I'll try again next time I'm back in the Bay Area, or get a raise or win a lottery.

    Ham egg and cheese croissant

Owners were very friendly I came in for a breakfast croissant & walked out with complimentary donuts! Croissant was $9 & was very delicious & warm & flaky. Donuts were fresh as well! The place also sells Cambodian food. A bit pricey but inflation - what can you do. Will be back for sure!!

This was my first time here and I was carving some donuts. The staff are very nice and they have some of the freshest donuts you can find in the area with a great assortment! Food - I got the old-fashioned chocolate covered donut and a couple of the sprinkled donuts. The lady who took my order also added in 2 complimentary donut holes which I thought was very kind! Service - There was not much wait and the staff was very through in answering any questions I had on what some of the donuts were. Seating - There is no seating inside or out. Catered towards picking up your food and leaving. Parking - The parking for this place is in a busy complex so can get tough if you go during peak hours. However, for the most part you should be able to find parking.

I need to go back because everything I ordered was iced and I want to try some of the hot drinks. The banana bourbon latte was good, I wish it had maybe a more pronounced banana flavor and that the bourbon came through more. But the oat milk and the coffee were so smooth and luxurious that it made the experience enjoyable. Important note: with Mitsua market and the busy food areas there, this plaza gets incredibly busy! It's not the best parking situation, so know that ahead of time.

We ordered a Cortado and the Honey Sea Salt Latte -- both were excellent. The espresso was rich, smooth, and perfectly pulled, which really showed in both drinks. The honey sea salt latte had a really nice balance of sweet and savory that wasn't overly sweet. We also got a croissant, which was flaky and delicious. They clearly have strong breakfast options overall -- the cheesy toast pictured on their page looked amazing too. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. This is a great spot for quality coffee and solid breakfast food. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of their flavored drinks and breakfast toasts. Highly recommend!

I decided to get the Lavendula Latte, which the barista delivered to my table. I had forgotten to adjust the sweetness (though thinking now I can't remember if there was an option for that) but the drink had a nice balance of sweetness. Only complaint I have is that the menus lacks photos (not sure if it's lag or if there genuinely are no photos), but I'd say that the drink looks okay. You also have to use McDonalds wifi if you want to do work here, but the wifi's free and seems to be working fine so I'm not sure if that's really a negative. We got two tiramisu lattes. I liked how they weren't that sweet. It felt like a nice treat that didn't weigh me down. It was a good coffee run to have before eating brunch. I liked how the menu is extensive and there is something for just about anybody. We saw a photo booth inside, but didn't use it. Overall, I think this location is tranquil compared to the other Big Mug, and their offerings are hard to beat in terms of variety. I recommend going here for your caffeine fix!

You line up, pick your pastries and order your food if you are eating in and then pay at the counter. Then, they will deliver the food to your table. It was a perfect combo. My friend got the chicken and croffle. She loved it. She said the chicken is most and perfectly seasoned. I took home, almond croissant, salt breads (garlic, chocolate and truffles), toast box, and ham & cheese croissant. Everything was delicious! My daughter loves salt bread and our favorite is the chocolate. She is asking for it already. My husband, sliced the toast box and toasted it, added condensed milk (oh lord! That was the bomb). That said, they're constantly restocking, and the staff has a well-oiled system down. Even when it's busy, things move surprisingly efficiently. PASTRIES/BAKED GOODS: 9/10 I love their pastries and baked goods! I honestly haven't had anything that was a miss for me, whether it's savory or sweet. Everything I've tried has been delicious. FOOD/MEALS: 8/10 As for their meals, I thought they were good, but not quite as memorable as the pastries. I ordered the avocado toast, and while it was hearty and generously loaded, I felt like there was just a little too much going on. Both the salad and the toast were dressed a bit too heavily for my taste. COFFEE: 8/10 I also really enjoy their coffee. My go-to is the Latte Einspänner, and it pairs perfectly with their pastries. You can really taste the quality of the espresso, and I appreciate that it's not overly sweet. SERVICE: 9/10 The staff is quick, efficient, and constantly on the move. As I mentioned, they run like a well-oiled machine, even during the morning rush. AMBIANCE: 8/10 Seats fill up fast! If you're planning to dine in and you spot an open table, have someone in your group grab it while the other orders; tag-team it, lol. I also love the overall aesthetic. The wooden tables, sky blue and yellow color palette, and bright space make it feel warm and inviting. And of course, the giant glass displays packed with beautiful pastries are hard to resist; they're practically part of the décor!

There's a larger communal table, and some counter seating. Parking can be difficult. There's a small area in the parking garage for "guest" parking. It's almost always full and you will depend on luck to find one spot there or arrive in time when someone is leaving their spot. There is no parking on most of the surrounding streets, except for the small section of the road that curves underneath Lawrence. And that part is often full of parked cars. It can be frustrating and this parking situation will easily drive away customers to find somewhere else with easier parking. If you're fortunate enough to get parking, you will find that Coffeebar offers a decent coffee menu, baked goods, and some food if you need more than a snack. The people working behind the counter have all been very friendly and helpful. Their Chocolate Croissant is HUGE!!! They'll ask if you want it warmed up. Definitely do this. It is delicious slightly warmed up. I have tried their Iced Chai Latte, which was just OK. It lacked the spice I was expected from a chai, and felt a bit too milky. I prefer their Iced Caramel Latte, which is much better than the Chai. Next time I will try their Mocha.
