I've been a big fan of Chongqing-style hotpot in China as well as Mongolian-style hotpot (Little Sheep in Beaverton), but never actually tried Taiwanese-style hotpot before. So I thought that I'd give it a shot, especially since they have deep fried stinky tofu on the menu (one of my favorite things in the world). I came by myself on a Friday for lunch, around 12:30pm. The place was not crowded, about half of the tables were taken. The wait staff was quite nice, prompt and attentive. When I was ordering, the waitress asked how spicy I wanted the food, and when I asked how spicy is their food in general, she replied that she's from Sichuan and, to her, nothing is spicy! So I went with medium in the end... I ordered: - Deep fried stinky tofu (of course) - Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup (#9) (After tip this came to around $28) Stinky tofu: it was good, not overly stinky, but sufficient to have that unique umami taste and texture of fermented tofu. The sweet/spicy sauce was a little too salty, I felt? It went well with the tofu, but I felt it was a little too strong, maybe to counteract the stink for people who haven't had it before? 4/5 Taiwanese supreme spicy hot soup: OK... I think I underestimated how spicy the "supreme spicy" soup would be. Medium was almost too spicy for me to handle (and I generally get medium or spicy at most places), though they later brought up some sweet fermented bean paste, that went well with the hot soup. In general, the flavor was decent, but that's where the good news ends. The slices of beef on top was already quite overcooked by the time it was brought out (not to mention it then sat there to be cooked some more), and, despite having a lot of variety of ingredients in the soup, there wasn't too much of anything, 1 to 2 pieces of fish balls and beef tendons here and there - aside from cabbage, there was a LOT of cabbage. I did rather like the noodles - though I think I have the same brand of noodles at home as well! Some other reviewers have called out that they felt the food was overpriced for what you get, and I certainly got that feeling. I almost finished the hot soup myself for lunch (and it's supposed to be the larger portion compared to the other items on the menu), and if I didn't order the stinky tofu on the side, I think I could have finished it (OK, I was pretty hungry that day). I don't think that it would have been sufficient for 2 people - you'd have to order 2 pots for 2 people, and I feel like it's starting to get pretty overpriced for what you get at that point. 2/5 Overall, I felt that the food was pretty mediocre; I enjoyed the stinky tofu, but the soup was a little underwhelming. I'd rather go to Little Sheep just a few min away, where I can control the cooking and don't overcook the meat, and get a better combination of ingredients for cheaper. The service was good, though, that was a bit of a saving grace. It was good as a novelty for me personally, not sure I'll come back. read more

Hot pot is one of my favorite foods and this place does not disappoint! My go-to is always the Taiwanese hot pot. I like this place a lot because it has a variety of things inside each hot pot, and their dipping sauces are so good as well. Each hot pot has different meats and various toppings. read more

I'll round up to 4 stars, cause I want to come back and try another pot. I'm a Southern CA transplant and LOVE boiling point and soup. This looked like the same idea; you tube videos are saying Tasty Pot is the OG. I ordered the Szechuan and my fiancé ordered the Taiwanese. They spice level was on point for medium. Usually when I order medium at boiling point I want it spicer. The Szechuan was a little too peppercorn for me. My fiancé and I liked the Taiwanese better. Boiling points's flavors are more prominent. TastyPot's meat quality is better; boiling point's always tasted on the dry side whereas tastypot a a little more tender. Because of the times I guess the prices recently increased. It's pretty pricy for lunch without any complimentary tea. It's a lot of food and if you think okay, for the large, $20 and you don't finish it, it's $10/meal with what you take home. It was an endless pot it felt like, we kept finding more ingredients in the soup. I really like that they have fish balls with roe, but it is a little pricy for not that much roe; I've had better fishballs with roe that you can taste the pop of the roe-this one was lacking roe. However, it's not something I can find common in oregon, so I might still order it again. It's cool that you can do instant noodle instead of rice or vermicelli, but at an additional $1.50. I want to come back and try a different broth next time. But for the price, it's not something I can eat often. read more

Yes yes yes! Finally a good hot pot place in Beaverton! Located in what it use to be La Sen restaurant. Went here last night and was nervous that it wasn't going to be as good as Boiling Point in Seattle. To my surprise it's just like Boiling Point and even better! I had my usual Taiwanese spicy that I would get at Boiling and it's delicious. Very flavorful and lots of ingredients. What's nice that you can turn off the flame yourself instead of hunting a server down to do it. The only thing was the service was slow but it's still in the opening stage so hopefully that will improve. Definitely will be back soon. read more

I had the kimchi soup #7. Interesting presentation that you probably won't find anywhere else in the area. It was light on kimchi and hheavy on just plain boiled cabbage. The meat was good but the dumplings had disintegrated to an oblong meatball. I ordered it flaming spicy but it was just spicy. I probably would have been disappointed if I had ordered it less than flaming. The service was prompt and polite. I will probably try it one more time and order something different. It's at least worth checking out for no other reason than it's different than other restaurants in the area. read more

My wife liked her dish and I also liked hers. Yum yum yum! We've been a couple times now and we love it! They give you a pad to order from and your order comes out. Service has always been good, they are very attentive. We've gotten the curry hot pot, Taiwanese hot pot and kimchi dumpling hot pot. Each hot pot cane out boiling and fast, and comes with rice or vermicelli noodles. Every hot pot came super packed with different ingredients. The Taiwanese one is a larger portion, so it is sharable with another person. Just get some extra add ons on the side. The kimchi dumpling hot pot was very good! I wish I would've pulled the dumplings out a lot earlier because it got too soggy and just fell apart. They should also give you like an extra side bowl or plate to take some items out of the hot pot so they don't get over cooked or soggy. There is different pricing for the different types of hot pots the offer and you can adjust the spice level as well. When you go for lunch it does come with green tea or black tea. And the iced green tea was SUPER yummy, I was actually really surprised, so definitely try their teas! read more

The hotpots are very similar to boiling point, and boiling point was one of my favorite place when I was in LA but now this is probably the closest thing I can find. Their Taiwanese was just not as flavorful but that's the only thing that I like and would get. I think they could make their flaming hot a little more spicier. Other than that, my kids love this place and I like that they're willing to accommodate with my requests. They do forget the teas that come with the meal sometimes but it's all good. I still like going here for lunch after picking my kids up from school. read more

I stepped into the restaurant and it truly was like dipping into a tasty pot. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a vibrant and mouth-watering aroma. When receiving the menu, you come to find out they have twelve delicious pots all with reasonable pricing. You're able to add as many things on top of what is already in the pot, which isn't necessary with all the pots due to their abundance of sustenance. I dipped my chopsticks into two different pots. The first was beef wild mild spicing. They brought it out fast with a wide smile. The meat was cooked to perfection in a delectable and well-seasoned broth surrounded by other veggies and smaller meats added. The second pot was lamb. The tender lamb meat made the whole bowl savory sweet. I went with a friend and the total for two pots, four drinks, and several add-ons was 65 dollars(With leftovers I took home). I really like the way they serve food and drinks and the staff here are always really nice. My friends and I come to spot quite a bit and while we enjoy the food and everything, I suspect there might be something in here that give you the you know what the next day. I'm a huge fan of Tasty Pot! I was so happy when I found out they were opening one in Beaverton. When I lived in the Bay Area, Tasty Pot was one of my go-tos so I'm super excited to be able to do that here! Came on a Friday night when they first opened and was glad to see that they were busy and there was a wait! They moved through the waitlist pretty efficiently. The food is always good - I love the one with cheesy milk, all veggie one, or just the regular beef one. The personalized mini pots are great for groups who want to experience "hot pot" but don't want to share a giant pot. Looking forward to coming here again whenever I have cravings! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1 PM. We were about 3rd in line and waited maybe 5-10 minutes, no big deal. I ordered the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup ($17.99 weekend lunch rate), and it was huge! While the price was a tad high for hot pot, you do get a decent portion. It was so large, I had to take it some of it to go. They come by every so often to offer a refill on broth, which is essentially slightly flavored boiled water (it is NOT the same broth your hot pot initially came with). With your hot pot order, you get to choose a side of rice or vermicelli noodles. I opted for the noodles, but that felt a little redundant with the ramen noodles that is already in the hot pot. There was sufficient proteins in the soup and I didn't feel I was shorted in that area. I also ordered a side of quail eggs, which was +$2.50 for about 6-8 eggs. The main area for the one star deduction is just the cost. While you are getting great quality food, if you're on a budget, there is other hot pot places in Portland that you can get for $10-20 that's essentially all you can eat (grab at the bar and bring it back to the table). I also got a green tea ($3.95) with boba (+$0.75). It was decent, nothing too special, but still something I probably wouldn't get again. TIP: the hot pot comes over a burning flame. You can adjust the flame (i.e., turn off) with a lever on the side of the pot. I'd recommend this if you are not having the soup family style - the soup was too hot to slurp with the flame continuously on. read more

The staffs were all nice but the food was really bad. This is not Taiwanese hot pot, at all. Not sure if the chef tasted Taiwanese hot pot before. Specifically, the ingredients are all at low quality and quantity, the signature soup base and some of the drinks do not taste like what they are supposed to be. Personal hot pot is a new concept around this area as there's no other competitors, but for people come from this culture, it doesn't deserve the wait. This place should be called Napa Pot. If you like Napa cabbage, this is the place for you! As other people have alluded, there is a lot of vegetable in the pot, and pretty much the only vegetable in there was napa, with a little cilantro and a pinch of pickled greens. I got the lamb hot pot. There is a long list of ingredients to each pot, but the main ingredient in each is napa. Flavor of the broth was good, and it's fun to have a variety of different things to eat in the pot, but there was just SO MUCH napa, which I don't really like much unless it's in kimchi form. We went for lunch, at which time it is cheaper than dinner, plus you get cold sweetened black or green tea included, although not unless you specifically ask for it. I had tried to go at dinner time on a Friday once, when there was a big line, and left. It is not worth the wait. If you want to try it, go for lunch on a weekday!
