There is an actual fire in the for a cute individual hot pot but more convenient because it's all pretty much cooked before it arrives. The fire keeps it boiling and fresh. The place is small and a bit crowded, but I think it adds to the true ambiance of the place. The staff was super friendly and did a great job of checking in and seeing if I needed more broth. I got the beef hot pot and there was a lot of beef in it. My friend got the szechuan pot that was spicy and came with beef and seafood. As for the spice levels, mild tastes medium and medium tastes spicy and so forth. Asian spicy is definitely on another level. No wait on a Saturday evening at 5, but did have a line by the time I left. You can enter through the Mekong plaza within or from the front entrance of the parking lot. A good bit of options, and this is a single serve hotpot where they bring it out to you on an elevated surface with a sterno burner to keep it hot while you eat. I ordered the Sichuan Hot Pot which might have been a larger size than what my date got. She got the Beef Hot Pot. I got the lowest spice Sichuan Hot Pot which was medium (there were 2 more levels of spicy), and it was pretty spicy. Definitely got the slight mouth numbing from the sichuan peppers that were in the hot pot. Very good portion size which I wasn't expecting and very tasty. If there's something you like you can also add more of it through the QR code menu. I should have gotten more mushrooms. Overall very good meal. It was about $50 for 2 people with tip. Holy cannoli Tasty Pot good! A couple friends and I were walking around Mekong to figure out a place to eat. When we walked by Tasty Pot, we were hit with a flavorful whiff of spice and meat, causing us to stop in our tracks. It was also the only restaurant that was completely full and busy, so we knew it must be good. At first it seems like the pots are on the pricey side, but that myth was quickly busted when the food came out. I got the Sichuan pot and it was PACKED with beef, fish, crab meat, tofu, clams, and noodles. I think I am going to get meals from this and the leftovers that I brought home. The Sichuan broth itself was packed with flavor, but be warned - it is spicy! I ordered with Medium spice but it still did me in. The service was great and as others have mentioned, they periodically come by to refill our broth, which was pretty cool. Also even though the place is constantly busy, because you order and pay on the phone, it moves fast and is quite efficient. I also had the Hokkaido Milk Tea and I really enjoyed the flavor. We ordered the Thai Flavor Hot Soup ($18.50), Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup ($18.50), extra beef slices ($5.95), extra enoki mushrooms ($3.75), a quail egg ($2.50), milk tea ($4.75), and a passion fruit green tea ($4.25). We waited a few minutes before our food came out. The broth of the Thai Flavor Hot Soup was good and it definitely made the meat taste good to me. The Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup was spicy but had good flavor. The milk tea was okay and same with the passion fruit green tea. It would have tasted better with more flavor in the drink. Every time I walk by here, there's constantly so many people waiting so it's clear it's a really popular restaurant! I had been to this restaurant before but at their location in Houston which I loved so I wanted to check it out here as well. I ordered the beef hot soup while my mother got the lamb hot soup. While I do love the food, personally I wish there would be fewer different types of ingredients in each pot because there always ends up being not much beef or lamb in the respective pots. And in general, because there's so many types of foods in the pot, there's very few of each food. But, this is probably just a personal preference. Additionally, since it was my first time I didn't realize there was a way to turn off the fire which kind of turned our food into mush at the end but now we know for next time! The pots all come with some type of noodle already inside and then you get a side of noodles too so you can just save the one that comes on the side. Highlights: I used to think this place was overpriced, but I was pretty happy with my latest visit. I was pretty full after eating only half of my ingredients and they gave me a soup refill so I ended up getting a second meal out of it. 3.5 Stars We've been eating American or Mexican during our entire trip so for our last meal, we wanted something familiar. Originally we looked at Thai but none of the restaurants looked like they had authentic Thai. Next we looked at Asian food in general but to our dismay, all the places looked Americanized or was a fusion restaurant. Fortunately when we were scrolling around, we came across Tasty Pot. They weren't too far from Scottsdale and had great Yelp reviews. When we arrived, we realized that it was an Asian area in Phoenix so we were excited to see some Asians lol. The whole trip we were the only Asians where we where so this was a nice change of scenery. Tasty Pot shares a private lot with other businesses in Mekong Plaza. We got there at a good time because after the party that came in after us was seated, the wait began and it was about 30-45 minutes for a table. Both of us didn't read any reviews but just looked at photos off Yelp before coming. We should have because we could have definitely shared an order. The portions are quite generous. What you do after you get seated is scan their QR code for the menu. It's not very descriptive so I had to flag someone down for recommendations and he said their Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup was their most popular. We looked and debated but finally decided on what to get. Mink ordered their Beef Hot Soup and I ordered their Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup. We got a side of Shrimp and Roe Fishball to share. At first we didn't know how to order so I had to flag someone down again. He told us that we could do it off our phones. That was pretty neat so we ordered off our phone. Once you put in your soup order, it asks how spicy you want it (Medium, Very Spicy or Flaming Spicy). Next it asks if you want free rice, free vermicelli or pay $1.25 for instant noodles. Then you confirm. After that, you can add items then check out. You type in your phone number and they text you a confirmation code to place the order. It didn't take the kitchen too long to get our orders out. The sides took awhile though. It was nice that the pot was still heated from below but it took us awhile to realize it'll keep boiling till we shut off the heat. Fortunately the lever was easy to spot. There were also 3 sauces on the table that you could add to an empty sauce bowl. My order came with a garlic sesame sauce with Chinese parsley. There was also complimentary water in a pitcher provided and disposable cups. Apparently there is vermicelli already in the broth. The free additions weren't necessary but nice to know it's available if sharing an order. Between the two orders, I liked Mink's broth more. Mine was a lot spicier but hers had better flavor. We both had different meats and veggies in our pots. I liked what I had in mine more than what she got in her pot. We both agreed the Roe Fishballs were delicious but the shrimp was over cooked. The food here is tasty and you get a lot of bang for your buck. We both had some items we couldn't finish. Our recommendation is to share an order and add some sides. It's a lot of food otherwise. Why 3.5 stars then? The customer service is horrible!! It takes awhile to flag someone down and they seem to like talking for long periods of time with only certain tables. Always a solid place for hot pot style meal! Literally I am so used to OC boiling point and when I moved out to AZ, tasty pot was all I had and I absolutely love it. The quality of taste varies from location but this place is bomb. I always get the beef and it comes with a good variety of vegetables, corn, cuttlefish, tofu, etc. the flavor of the soup is also pretty spot on. My favorite part of it all is that during lunch they serve black or green tea which is bomb. You can also choose between white rice or noodles like ramen for your meal. I love their dipping sauces as well. At this location you can conveniently scan the QR code to order and pay on the app. It is pretty easy to use and they are fast with service. I've been coming here once in a while and didn't know now I have to order online using their QR code, but none of them really explained we had to order online when the QR code was at the very corner of table where people really don't take a look at. Usually, places with QR code order system, they briefly say something like "you can order food on your phone" or something, but nothing here. And the service.. I've been noticing it for a few months, but I know this place is popular and crowded with people, that doesn't mean they shouldn't care about their customers. They barely checked on our table if we needed something, and it took so long to get us something other than their main, like the sauce.
