The pot was overflowing and happy with the assortment of beef, fish cake, clams, napa cabbage and corn. It came with a pork broth with tolerable saltiness level. It came with vermicelli noodles and rice. This regular size was enough for 2 people that are not too hungry. But if you are hungry, 1 pot is good for 1 person. Absolutely loved the hot beef medium spicy soup--perfectly hit the spot after craving it for a while! Sara and Alex provided excellent, attentive service--they deserve special recognition. The restaurant has a clean, welcoming environment, making it an ideal spot for a date night or hanging out with friends. It was a Thursday night just before closing, the kind of time when normal people are brushing their teeth and regretting their life choices, but I was a block away from CSUN, standing in front of tasty pot - because apparently, I believe in late night hot pot soup on a hot summer night. Walking in, I was greeted by decor that screamed welcome to Taiwan. Until you scratch the surface and realize the whole operation actually started in San Francisco. Which technically is kind of Taiwan adjacent if you squint, eat some Kim chi, dumpling, hot soup, and suspend disbelief. I ordered the #7 kimchi dumpling hot soup, which came with, roughly the entire Pacific Ocean and half a farm inside it. Pork slices? Check. Shrimp? check. Clams? Check. An anxious flooding around an existential confusion? Also check. Honestly, it felt less like a meal and more like an episode of wears Waldo, except Waldo was a vermicelli noodle trying not to drown in kimchi bone broth. The soup itself? Spicy, savory, and hot enough to sear away any bad decisions you made during freshman year. The flavors were layered like, I could almost taste the corporate tagline whispering "real meat, bones, cabbage, and seasoning imported from Taiwan, Los Angeles, San Gabriel adjacent." Which saves the fair amount of on the gas bill if you're in the San Fernando Valley. Minimum while, the vibe in the restaurant was comfortably modern, which I think translates to "dim lights, clean tables, and just enough Taiwanese signage to trick your brain into forgetting that you're in Northridge." The staff was friendly, though they definitely had that "please don't order anything else, we close in 10 minutes" smile plastered on their faces. I will try to be considered as fast and leave, But the tasty hot pot is hot. Their motto: "in order to live well, you must eat well." odd words for a place that gives me imitation crime,, vocal, and mini sausage in the same pot. But you know what? They're not wrong - I left feeling alive, full, and mildly sweaty. So yes, tasty pot is authentic, San Francisco Taiwanese authenticity. A place where you're a soup has more supporting characters than a marvel movie, your broth is scolding enough to file a lawsuit, and your late night cravings fully meet their chaotic match. They even got these Roe Fish ball that no other hot pot places have. The price is competitively like Shabuya, So worth it! Probably my new favorite go to and I don't need to travel to LA for all you can eat shabu shabu. Yay! A hotpot spot that's local to me! I've been coming to this place since they soft opened a few years ago. I love hotpot/soup and eating hotpot from this place has always hit the spot. Little FYI by the way - Just recently, this location switched their dining style/format to AYCE which I think is a really nice and welcome change. You mean I can eat even more? Say less. I also recommend this place to people that haven't tried hotpot yet. Staff are really attentive and helpful. This is the worst place to come eat hot pot, starting with the service we had to continuously ask for water & refills as no other drinks were offered and they would forget to give us water. It is an all you can eat hot pot for $28.95 per person does not matter if it's a child under age or taller than 4 feet everyone is charged the same (adult or child), they have a $7 feet per person for food waste. The pot was boiling hot and couldn't even eat the food, because there is no adjusting the heat temp. WE ALL ENDED UP WITH OUR TONGUES BURNED! We ran out of soup juice and had to get up to ask for more as the server wouldn't go to our table and he came with water and said "Get up so I can fill it up" no excuse me or would you pls get up. Another person in my party asked for them to turn off the propane for his pot and instead the server put more water/soup until we asked again for them to turn it off. There was no flavor on the soup and everything was extremely hot and very overcooked. The place itself looks and is dirty as well as the tables. The restrooms smell like Raid coach-roach killing spray and was very dirty, the hand soap just had water in it. They close at 10pm and around 10:20 the server said "I'm sorry you guys have to leave, we are closed" First & last time coming here!!! Left with a burned tongue, upset stomach and headache from the smell of propane and "Raid" smell. Overall would never recommend to anyone! Only because you have to give it a star for the review, otherwise I would give it 0 stars. I would have and am considering on requesting a full/half refund because it was overall really bad and overpriced. $127 plus tip for a party of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) for a burning hot pot is ridiculous!!! UPDATE: I called Monday requesting to speak with a manager and was told no manager was available and one would be available on Tuesday. Tuesday I spoke with manager Ben and explained what our experience was as well as requested a refund and provided the amount of my bill. Ben advised he would talk to the staff that was there on Sunday and would call me back before the end of the day. At 9:40pm I called to follow up as hadn't heard from Ben the manager and I was told he was gone for the day and a manager would be available tomorrow. Wednesday I called again around 3pm as I still haven't heard back from Ben and Amanda answered and said a manager not Ben were available, she asked why I was looking for him and I said he knew the reason and was supposed to call me back and got upset because I didn't tell her and hung up on me. I attempted to call again and my calls were not being accepted. I finally got through again and Amanda answered and said she didn't have time to answer my calls because I didn't explain to her why I was attempting to get a hold of Ben and that they are busy and that if Ben decides to call me, he would call whenever he wanted as they do not take personal calls at work. I advised her it was not a personal call and it was regarding my experience there and again she repeated if he wants to call you he will call you whenever he wants. Very popular Taiwanese cuisine! The place was booming with customers ! Many families enjoying hot pot it was nice to see the family dynamic coming back to life! My siblings enjoy this particular restaurant about once a week and they brought me with them today! I'm Not really soup aficionado but I came along for the experience! I had this awesome Vietnamese coffee with cream and it was really mind blowing! Very strong but very good. I should not had drank the whole thing so close to bedtime but here I was kind of hooked on it! Anyway we shared some Thai healthy soup and omitted some things like the lotus but other than that, spicy and great for this weather! Soups are made to order so please be patient. Uuhhhhh it was tasty but I'm not sure if I would go again. I think I needed a "how to eat" beginner guide. There's 3 steps. 1 pick the flavor. 2 level of spice. 3 the side. I picked beef, mild and since my pot came with vermicelli I picked rice. The bowl of rice came out with another empty bowl underneath. The rice was a little hard and not a soft sticky rice like at a Japanese restaurant. Then the hot pot came out. I wasn't told there was a lever to adjust the heat. My bowl was bubbling the entire time. On the table were chopsticks and a long ladle type spoon. Do I eat out of the hot pot? Do I put it on my rice? I put the food in my empty bowl. Why did they come by twice to offer more broth? If I'm supposed to drink the broth how come I wasn't given a soup spoon? Do I use the long ladle to drink the broth? I could have asked the server but I didn't want to sound stupid. There was a lazy Susan style of sauces. 4 different sauce. I didn't bother adding anything my mild was flavorful enough. I finally went and it was OK. A friend and I came here for a quick lunch from work and shared a soup -- it's quite a lot for one person and ordered a side of takoyaki. I def wished that they had smaller portion sizing for takoyaki. It came with 6 pieces and my friend wasn't a huge fan of the texture and I can only eat so much. Was excited to try this spot, but my family and I did not have the best experience whatsoever. First off there were advertised photo menu items of set bowls outside and inside of the restaurant, which we were prepared to order from. We were not notified that it is now an AYCE menu until we sat down. For those that aren't looking to spend AYCE prices, this is a problem especially if you wait awhile to be seated and are not interested in paying more. We waited for awhile outside which we expected and didn't mind. We get seated and a few minutes after our orders were taken the server says "If you need anything else please let me know". (She never once came back to our table) She also let us know that we can order additional items online which we did. I realized I didn't order rice so I ordered that and a Coke online. I get the Coke quick. We get up to get our Ayce toppings and are constantly being bumped and having to dodge the servers who were nonstop zooming by even seated getting bumped. These servers were moving so fast without consideration to others around them. My husband tried to ask questions to one and was talked over and rushed which was really rude. We were never checked on and asked if we were doing alright or needed anything. We would flag down a server to ask for something and they would always react as if we were a bother to them. Majority of the time, they would never come back with what was asked for and we'd have to ask multiple people. Rewind back to me ordering rice online a few minutes after we sat down. We were nearing the end of our meal after 2 follow ups when we finally received our rice. At this time as well, I've also asked multiple servers for a refill of my broth and it took a third time asking to receive it. I first walked up to the girl that seated us and asked her then see her walk behind the counter and start conversing and laughing with a fellow server never tending back to us. I asked a second server that walked by and nada. My bowl is now dry as I asked the 3rd server. He comes back with the broth and I say miso for me and sukiyaki for my husband. My husband who was over the meal already also with a dry bowl replies back with none for me I'm done. The guy pours my miso and then pours miso in my husbands bowl even after he told him he didn't want anymore. I also try to clarify that he ordered sukiyaki and he proceeds to explain that it's all the same broth which wasn't the point. My husband didn't want anymore, but it was still given to him and the wrong one at that. Tell me why my mom asked for a Sprite mid meal and it also took asking 3 servers to finally receive it once we were practically done. Also we ordered fries in the beginning and the girl asked if we wanted it spicy, we said no because it was for our kid. Later on in the meal we tried to order spicy fries and a different server tells us they don't offer that. I like that there is an option to substitute the base should the desired offering have nuts. Though a tiny pit pricy, there is a large portion of meat, cabbage, and some fun dumpling/seafood items as well. I wish there were more vermicelli noodles, but the other items make up for it. And it comes piping hot! Like drove 30 minutes and still had to blow on it when I got home hot. The chrysanthemum tea is delicious and balanced. If the owner reads the reviews, I do suggest offering a sleeve/double cup and a stopper as it comes super-hot (200 degrees?) and it was hard for me to hold. We got mala skewers which were in an amazingly flavorful sauce. We split 1 beef hot pot (very spicy with vermicelli noodles as the free add on). It was spicy but had a good flavor. The seafood hot pot is a must try. We got the Thai broth medium. It has lobster, mussel, clam, shrimp, mushrooms and was the best. I am very disappointed in the change of operations at this restaurant. My family and I were very loyal customers, even when the restaurant was not doing well, we always came and ordered a lot of food. However, due to the AYCE style, the quality has gone down. The meat was not thinly sliced and all the veggies were mixed together. Overall, the atmosphere is dirty with lots of dust and grime. Although there were many tables, my family had to wait over 20 minutes at 9:00 pm. The service has also gone down with them not checking up on us, even when we asked for more broth through the app. I hope the original tasty pot will come back. read more

I'd prefer shabu shabu over pre-cooked hot pot like Tasty Pot, but ever since Boiling Pot pioneered it some 20 years ago I've learned to enjoy it. Tasty Pot - Northridge is my 2nd in that chain after Alhambra, I haven to say both chains are similar but Tasty Pot needs improvement in two areas: for beef pot the beef is too little, even if it tried to spread it throughout the pot, and then the other ingredients are insufficient. I counted two each of little clams and imitated crabs, bits of beef balls, a slice of tomato and small tofu, there maybe others but in a word that they are all small. Even with my choice of rice over glass noodle, I still felt a bit not full. The soup flavor is good though, and the environment is decent and comfortable. read more
