The food is notting out of this world , but my waiter made sure to make it a really uncomfortable experience . Came here with my friend and our two 4 year old girls , as soon our waiter approached us I notice his attitude , when I asked him which salad will be a better choice, the Greek or Ceaser before I can finish saying with grilled chicken he jumped in and said the Greek one, he seen to be in a extreme rush, I said oh the Greek salad ? He replied, yes that's what I just said the Greek one ( with a attitude ), oh boy I knew he was trouble, then I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs for the kids. The spaghetti where ok but the meatballs where hard as a rock , really like a rock , when I called my waiter and informed him that the meatballs where over cooked he repeated to me with a sarcastic voice and look "over cooked?" I stated they are just not edible, can you please change them. He raised his hand in a gesture like , omg ok ok , and walk away , then he came back with the same damn meatballs and said they are cooked, don't forget the sarcastic voice he held during the entire duration, from beginning to end, can you believe after that , he abandon our table never came back not even for, how can I make it better? How's the rest of the food ? No no no , I caught him a few times giving me looks , it was just uncomfortable, I felt liked I was fighting with someone I knew, there was a another waiter that was noticing everything and he came over our table and ask us, how's everything ? Giving something an adjective for a name doesn't make it so. Otherwise, I would try to only meet girls named Attractive Single. Nice try, Tasty's. And while we're on the subject - if it was called TASTY Diner, at least we would be talking about the food. It's called TASTY'S Diner, as in, the diner that belongs to Tasty. Do you want to eat food served by someone named Tasty? Shouldn't Chris Hansen and the Dateline team be tracking this person 24/7? As for the food...meh. As some reviewers fairly pointed out, it's a diner, so it's not like you can fault them for lacking gourmet food. It's just really hit or miss. You get a turkey burger, and sometimes it's soggy and fake tasting, other times not bad at all. An omelet might be a good Sunday meal, or it might be a small pocket of eggs constructed solely to house a cheese factory. I don't mind eating at hole in the wall places, but it would be nice to at least know what to expect. The reason they get two stars instead of three is the service. Especially in the last few months, delivery has been a real pain. When I call, the woman who answers the phone can never seem to hear/understand anything. It takes about 7 minutes just to get past my address and phone number, and the last three times I've ordered there has been a mistake. This used to be a fairly go-to place for me for basic, slightly un-crappy food in a hurry, but calling them is so frustrating that I've stopped using them completely. What can I say about this diner in my neighborhood? When they first opened, service and food was eh. So I went back there 2 weeks ago, the place was crowded but there were a few seats. I've lived in Astoria for going on 15 years now and we first visited Tasty's this week--talk about amateur hour, this place is the very definition of bad service. I ordered the Tasty's burger (half lb. burger with swiss cheese, egg, bacon and sauteed onions) and my girlfriend ordered the fried clams. The food was fine, standard diner fare, but the service had us laughing it was so pathetic. As others have mentioned, it took 10 minutes for a waiter to visit our table. The waiter took our order without writing anything down and then proceeded to screw up every part of our order. Just a suggestion, but you may want to grab a pen and paper next time. You're not "there" yet. Soup came out instead of salad, fries instead of the baked potato, sole instead of the clams, the Coke I ordered (twice) never arrived and in the middle of this chaos a random piece of cheesecake was delivered to our booth (and sent back). The restaurant wasn't crowded, this was just plain laziness and apathy toward customers. A note to Nikolas M. (who I presume works for Tasty's): rather than making snide comments to folks who've spent the time to write a review about your establishment, how about addressing those concerns and WORKING HARD to make it a better dining experience? Usually, I attempt to come up with a witty review for a restaurant, but after this experience I decided to lay the facts straight out. Umm, what confused me was that we went during it's grand opening week. Negatives: (1) No hostess (2) No menus when we sat down (3) Our menus were handed to us after the pseudo-hostess grabbed them from the table next to us BEFORE they ordered (4) We got menus about 3 minutes before another pair or people that was seated before us (5) 2 minutes After taking our order the waitress came up to us and asked us if we ordered what she was holding in her hands (6) Observed a waitress who handed menus to a booth obnoxiously leaning OVER another table (7) There isn't enough waitstaff (8) My turkey bacon was cold, like from the refrigerator cold (9) Not enough menus for all the people (consistently saw the waitress taking menus from tables and handing them to others) (10) The cashier couldn't find a pen for me to sign my credit card bill as I waited at the cash register (11) They gave my girlfriend an end piece for French toast. Thought that was a little odd. Positives: (1) The whole wheat pancakes were so-so (2) The coffee was so-so (3) The eggs were so-so Ok. The shape of the chicken looked as artificial as the McRib meat. Tasted like and sliced into cardboard like pieces. Fries were cold and stale - clearly sat out for a while. Boneless buffalo wings - breaded, fried, re-fried and re-fried again into chicken rocks. If mediocre was a 4, on a scale of 10 (10 being highest), I would rate this place a 5.5 at most. The food was just OK - I ordered the Mediterranean burger with turkey instead of beef. The meat was pretty tasteless, even though they make it fresh from ground turkey, seasoned with peppers and oregano. It was completely lacking salt! The home fries that came with it was also saltless - which I dont mind too much, but it was just..tasteless. The tomatoes on the plate were very colorless, and I didnt even bother eating it because I didnt want to taste the staleness. This place is slightly awful. Stay simple and you should be fine. For example, they have a great mushroom burger, and the omelets are good. With anything else, you are taking your stomach into your own hands. We got a lobster bisque here once, I think it was made with like ten cups of corn starch. My boyfriend got a baked chicken that was the consistency of a dog toy. I actually wondered if the chef was trying to sabotage the place, it was that bad. My friend swears that the chili is great, but I haven't tried it. We pretty much stopped going here. They need some quality control. There's really no reason that this place should be so mediocre. I tried the Tasty's Wrap which "tasted" like the chicken and bacon had been left out overnight on a heat lamp. I hope that's not what they were going for, but if so...bravo, you nailed it. All I wanted to do was change a next day order from 8:30am delivery to 9am. Not only did the gentleman that answered the call not have my order, when I asked what I should do, callback or cancel, he told me "you can do whatever you want." Here's a tip Tasty's: you're food is mediocre at best and that's for a diner, so stop acting towards your customers like you're serving them 5-star meal and giving them an attitude when all they wanted to do was change the delivery time of an order they paid and tipped for in advance. You should definitely come here if you want to witness someone messing up a Nutella and Strawberry Crepe. I'm here to tell you that it is possible, I have witnessed it. My fiance ordered a "lumberjack special" which was a standard eggs,fries,pancakes or french toast type of combo. So here is how that went down: 1 plate with 3 tiny slices of french toast with sesame seeds on it.... about 3 minutes later, a new plate with fries.... couple minutes later, the eggs arrive on a 3rd plate. Lastly, the toast for a grand total of 4 plates for 1 person. Not to mention the plate with butter and syrup on it and mine of course. Anyone would have guessed we were feeding a party of 5. Screw all the negative reviews, I love tastys. They have such a great deal on the chicken souvlaki platter that I am almost afraid to write this review in fears of the owners seeing it and upping the price. For 8.95, you get a bunch of chicken shish kebab style, a full Greek salad, and french fries on the side, oh and some pita as well. The deal is fantastic, and it tastes really good too. Their sweet potato fries are awesome too, however my friends salmon was just average which is why I am giving it a 4. Interesting how I see such low ratings. This place is one of the best 24 hour diners in Astoria. Such warm, inviting colors inside. And the food is better than your usual Denny's-like diner, which earns it three stars alone! The staff is friendly and hilarious to watch sometimes. Don't expect anything extraordinary here. It is a small diner with average food. The benefit of the place is in a sea of overpriced food places this establishment is relatively cheap. The steak and eggs is about $15. In addition to the well set price the waitress is very friendly and down to earth (long red hair in a ponytail). If you love in the area and want cheap food that will fill you Tasty's is a good option. I order for delivery 5-7 times a week and it's mostly Tasty's. My schedule is pretty wacky so I gotta say although they mess up on the details of the order they are consistent...even late hours. In the case of Tasty's the pros outweigh the cons...an extensive menu, 24 hrs, no delivery minimum and mostly timely deliveries vs burgers missing cheese, waffles not cooked properly, fries with no ketchup...MISSING CONDIMENTS, etc, etc. They are nicer here over the phone vs Mike's IMO...but when dining in Mike's service is way better. read more

This place is hit or miss. First time (dinner) we went in and ordered out. It was fantastic and portions were way bigger than we expected. Second time (breakfast) we dined in and it was amazing again and the food was ready so fast. The home-fries are to die for and coffee was better than expected. Third time (late night) we dined in and it was subpar. I got the same sandwich I had the first time we went and it was half the size of my previous sandwich. I went back to Tasty's for breakfast today with some friends and the service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. The food quality remains high and the prices are reasonable, but the service... The waitress whom I spoke of earlier has not been fired. She is still there and is as rude, apathetic and quarrelsome as ever. I'm not sure what her name is, but she never smiles and has a lisp (in case the owner reads this). My woman tried to order what she normally does, but the waitress refused to do it for her without charging extra. The waitress continued to fight with us about it, even when it was called to the attention of the owner, who quickly came over and told us that we would not be charged extra. Then we asked for some splenda with our coffee, and the response was a surprising and almost comical "No!" So I ran over to Dunkin Donuts to bring back a handful of splenda instead. The busboy was terrible at keeping our coffees filled and the waitress continued to make us feel like we should just get up and walk out. My friends and I were regulars here, but I don't think we will be going back for awhile. For the most part I like this place. Is the food great? No. Just your typical diner. Is the staff amazing? Usually but you get the occasional dud. Personally, I like their breakfast; the delicious french toast being my favorite. My husband is a huge fan of the lumberjack special which is a little bit of everything. I'm not really a fan of their sandwiches. They never turn out the way I think they will be and are usually a let down. I have yet to try any of the salads. Tasty's has quickly become my dependable Seamless restaurant to order from since moving to Astoria. I've lived here for 25 days. Four times, I've ordered seamless deliveries for restaurants 0.4miles away OR CLOSER, that offered their delivery services to my address on the app...and between 5-60 minutes later I receive a call saying they cancelled my order and will not deliver...Huge disappointment. Tasty's has NEVER done this. They are dependable, quick, friendly and fairly priced. My only gripe is the food can be quite bland or not as expected -- which is why I've rated 3 stars. For example, the breaded wings app and the disco fries were bland and not very tasty. Also, I recently ordered a french dip sandwich that showed up with no cheese and very dry meat. The au jus was tasty, and i used to to spice up the disco fries. Their NY Egg Cream was a homerun. Spinach pie was flavorful and a nice size, i'd order it again. The bottom line is, you're going to need to have salt, pepper, hotsauce, etc. at hand if you order from here, but they will show up, be courteous, and leave you full for relatively inexpensive.
