Always enjoyable! The food never disappoints and they have a few good gluten free options!

Juan did a nice job with service and it's a really cool spot right next to the belly up. Cedros Avenue is a really cool spot to walk around and look at shops and then if you get a chance pop in the tavern and let them take care of you Parking sometimes can be a little tough, but we always seem to find one and just like the vibe with a whole area so I definitely recommend it. It kind of feels like you're on vacation. It's that kind of spot.

Tried this place for the first time and really liked it! Super cool interior. Sweet potato fries were sooo good. Shrimp tacos weren't my favorite, they had kind of an earthy flavor that's just not my preference. Calamari was good and I loved my coconut cocktail. Definitely will come back!

2nd visit to Tavern, and this time it was before the Mike Love concert! We made reservations for Thursday at 5:30pm and by the time we left (6:30ish) it was packed! We were seated quickly and our waitress was amazing! This time I got the Sushi burrito and it was 10/10 DELICIOUS! I also ordered the Mrazzberry cocktail (again) because that's my FAVORITE beverage there! For dessert we shared a key lime pie... and its safe to say that was a great decision to end our visit. This spot is definitely a MUST if you want a chill spot to eat at...but even moreso a great spot if youre going to see a concert at the BellyUp later in the night. Go give them a try!

Service- eh, at best. All the servers and bartenders are rude and seem to have a chip on their shoulders. They think anyone coming into order food or drinks is just there to sneak into BellyUp. We were going to eat, drink, and go to a show. The doors were already open, so we weren't trying to sneak in anywhere. They wouldn't even give us a food menu. But we kept getting lectured. It's a horrifying experience. I ended up getting the broccoli cheese soup, but it was extremely salty. And I only ate a couple bites.

Great margaritas but the vibes are just okay. Big party of 8 comes in after 1pm on a Sunday. We get asked bar or table, so we say table so we can all see each other and talk, plus wanted to stay outside, but as he's setting up the table he asks if it's just for drinks and not food, so we say yes and he makes us sit at the bar which we take every single seat. Why even ask then? Hah. I liked their Red Hot Chili margarita with Tajin on the rim, mmm. Service from lady bartender was nice; accommodated all our drink orders and closed each of us out smoothly. I felt too warm inside, wish the a/c was on.

Good place to meet up with friends before going to the show. The server we had for a table of 6 was good. He was attentive and got all our orders correct. The food was decent. The inside was cool with all the posters of the bands that played at the Belly Up. Liked that you're able to line up inside the bar after we ate.

This is a great place to grab a bite and some drinks before a show at the Belly Up! I would definitely recommend making a reservation on nights, which have shows as it's a decently small place. The menu here has something for most, a nice selection of appetizers ranging from poki to pizza. They have a pretty decent burger, and their filet is tender. Ask your server about specials as they do have those here and there!

My boyfriend and I came here before a concert on a Friday night. We had reservations which was good because the place filled up quickly! To drink I got the classic margarita and my bf got the lime in the coconut. I liked both a lot and it's awesome that you can just bring your drinks next door with you to the concert For food I got the seared ahi and he got the fish and chips. The ahi was cooked really well and the rice it came with was super flavorful! The fish and chips was cooked really well and fried perfectly. Our server who took care of us was friendly and it was so fun to look at all the art on the walls. Next time we go to a concert we'll definitely come back!

There's a small restaurant in the Arts District of Solana Beach. It was previously named "Wild Notes," which closed for restoration and reopened as the Tavern. I an happy to say, it has the same owners, and more importantly, the same quality food and specialty cocktails. During my last two visits here, our server was WHITTNEY! She provides EXCELLENT service from the moment you walk in the door throughout your dining experience. The food, vibe, decor is well thought out and planned. Enjoy, steak, seafood, pasta, chicken or vegetarian meals. You will feel like a VIP!! It is IMPORTANT to mention, this restaurant is in the same building as the Belly Up Tavern and concert venue. The kitchen is toward the front and center and serves customers in the restaurant, patio, main concert floor and upstairs loft. On concert nights, it is extremely busy, seating is limited and reservations are a must (Open Table app). Customers receive PREFERENTIAL service so you can have your dinner AND gain EARLY access to the concert through a special door in the back. Show your dinner receipt to the security guard. If you don't eat in the restaurant, you must wait on the sidewalk for the doors to open at 7PM. What are you waiting for, adventures await you! Check the website, buy concert tickets, make dinner reservations and hit me up, I want to go back! You know the drill, don't forget to tell 'em Rosemary sent ya!

Came here for a late lunch today and was happy to find something good still open at 3pm! Been to Belly Up a handful of times but never realized this place was next door! The food was great, service was wonderful, and it was nice to have open air seating. My friend had the pollo asado tacos and I had the Mediterranean blackened salmon salad. Both were tasty and reasonably priced for the area. Thank you for the lovely experience!

This cool place is a great start before a show at the Belly Up. We started with the sushi burrito as our appetizer and it was a nice size and good flavor. Next we shared the Surf & Turf Enchiladas Suizas - these were a bit fishy and cold (even though the plate was super hot). Then, we had the Seared Anchiote Crusted Tuna - this was awesome. The tuna was terrific, the bok choy was fantastic and the pineapple fried rice was perfect. For dessert, we had the Warm Chocolate and Banana Cake - again awesome. Definitely will be back.

My kiddos were running a 5K in Los Angeles and with my son having driven up earlier this week, I…read moredidn't want us to have two cars driving back home, so I took the Amtrak for the first time to meet up with my kiddos. Since my train wasn't leaving until later, I decided to find a place to eat dinner and found Chief's Burgers, Brew & Spirits. Chief's was a cool place to chill out and grab a bite. The burger and fries entree, the quality customer service from Nora, and the vibe were memorable. What was irritating was hearing a customer show his Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) by talking out loud about his disdain for our President. You lost old dude, but I won by dining at Chief's. 4.5 stars! Chief's Burgers is located in Solana Beach specifically on Lomas Santa Fe Drive. It's conveniently a short walk across from the Amtrak train station and within the Solana Beach Plaza strip mall. The plaza has Solana Frosty and Solana Beach Fish House. There is plenty of parking. As you step inside Chief's, you'll quickly determine that it's a sports bar with plenty of televisions, sports memorabilia, basketballs hanging from the ceiling, and a variety of modes of travel also hanging as decor. It's a spacious restaurant with bar top seating, low table top, high table top, picnic benches, and outdoor seating. There are a lot of Native American statues, framed pics, and depictions throughout the restaurant. There's a whole section decorated for Denver Broncos fans. I liked seeing tributes to our local sports teams. The customer service from Nora was noteworthy and I appreciated her friendly demeanor. I asked Nora why the restaurant was named Chief's and why there was an homage to the Broncos. She kindly explained that the owners were Native American and that they came from Colorado. Prior to embarking on the train, I initially thought I'd eat dinner with my kids once I got into Los Angeles, but since my train wasn't leaving until 5:40pm and wouldn't arrive at Union Station until about 8pm, I decided to find a restaurant to eat dinner. I found Chief's really quick since it was across from the station and walked over to dine in. Chief's serves a diverse menu besides burgers, which includes sandwiches, sides, Mexican food, appetizers, wings, salads, sliders, soup and chili, rice bowls, and dessert. I honestly wasn't sure what I was in the mood for, but I ordered their Jalapeño Jack burger, which comes with a 1/2 lb all natural angus beef thick patty, fresh jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. All the burgers are served with french fries, salad, or coleslaw. Instead of fries, pay an additional $3 to substitute onion rings, sweet potato fries, frings, or potato salad. Unless I didn't hear Nora, I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger cooked. My burger came out well done, I liked that it was substantial, the toasted bun was a good vessel, the toppings were fresh, and I thought that was a delicious burger. I recommend that they season the patty a little more. I thought the fries stood out because they were crispy, golden brown, seasoned perfectly, and when dipped in mayo or ranch, they complemented the burger. For my first visit to Chief's, I really enjoyed my burger and fries. Next time I visit Chief's, I want to try their Philly Cheesesteak. Hanging out at Chief's before my first train ride made for a good start to my trip, but that old dude talking smack about our President made me wish the Trump Train made a stop, so it would drown out his crying.

The food is pretty good and the drinks fine. You just have to get there super early if you have somewhere to be, because they are super slow in service. We did agree to not come back again. It's too stressful to wonder if you're going to have to cancel your order or eat your burger while walking to the show. For reference we go to the restaurant with like an hour and half to kill. We did get and finish our food in time, but the wait was long enough to make us worry.

This is a smaller Burger Lounge location nestled in the busy Via De La Valle shopping complex. There's a large, shared parking lot but when busy, you'll have to wait to find parking. They have a very small indoor dining area of maybe 4 tables and a larger outdoor area with about 6-8 tables. Only one bathroom. I have to give props to the young men who were working on Memorial Day. Despite being busy, they were working hard with a smile on their face. They were getting the food out as fast as they could and were even so kind to offer to take our trays when we were done. The food was tasty and fresh. The kids meal is totally worth it. For $9, it comes with an entree, fries, drink, and scoop of ice cream. But to be frank, all the other burgers are overpriced especially for the size, averaging $13-17. I got the lounge combo for $12 which came with a burger, fries, and drink but the burger and fries were so small I was still hungry. I walked in because the door was wide open and there were two employees inside. One was behind the counter (I believe his name was Brody, with slightly longer hair), and the other was sitting at a nearby table playing music loudly on a speaker. I stood at the counter for several minutes -- easily 5+ -- and was completely ignored. Brody was standing there the entire time and actively avoided making eye contact, pretending not to see me. No greeting, no acknowledgment, not even a simple "we're not open yet." Basic professionalism would have gone a long way. When I finally walked out, I turned back and suddenly Brody had no problem making eye contact and staring at me. Shortly after, I could hear him speaking negatively about me to the other employee, claiming I gave him a "dirty look." That was frankly immature. I went back in and calmly told him I heard what he said. Instead of responding professionally, he mocked me by repeatedly putting his hand to his ear and saying "I can't hear you." This happened multiple times. It was childish and disrespectful. What made the situation worse: two male customers walked in shortly after me, and they were immediately acknowledged and helped -- despite it still being before opening hours. When I re-entered, Brody disappeared into the back. The other employee then told me they were closed and I couldn't order -- yet the two men were still being served. The inconsistency in how I was treated compared to others was very noticeable and concerning. I ended up going next door to Milton's, where the service was excellent from start to finish -- friendly, attentive, and professional. And I went with the appetizer and entrée they recommended and it was fabulous! The Reuben and pastrami or corn beef was amazing at Milton's next-door. I also ordered food from Flower Child next-door the day before, and the food was healthy and extraordinary. I would strongly encourage management to look into this. This level of service -- and behavior -- is not acceptable. I also encourage mgmt to reach out to me about this.
