The food portions are pretty large, which somewhat justifies the higher prices. We ordered a whole fish, which looked really great at the table next to ours. Perhaps we ordered the wrong kind - we got what the waitress recommended, it was significantly smaller than theirs and the fish was overcooked such that the skin was burned. Really unfortunate. The rice and greens that came with it were quite good though. The hot appetizer platter was pretty good, my favorite part was probably the wings. This is the best Greek food in Boca Raton, Delray Beach area! I regularly go for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed once. The service is excellent, the food is even better. Everything on the grill is cooked to perfection. If you are hungry And like salad, I recommend the Kyma salad. The hummus is freshly made every day and delicious. I have dreams about their marinated, Grilled Octopus. It's that good. Their complimentary hummus also blows my socks off. They've got a great selection of wines, I love sampling their Greek whites. I can't recall specifically the vintage, but I had one I LOVED from Santorini. We usually bring a group every time I'm in town, and I've sampled a variety of their offerings. Great Bulgarian Feta on their Greek Salad, great Chicken Wings, and an AMAZING Mixed Grill Salad at lunch. Went there last Tuesday for lunch at 3:00 website said served until 3:30. Waiter brought dinner menus and said lunch only served until 3:00, it is now 3:01. spoke with manager who also said sorry it is after 3:00, place was empty, any wonder? The restaurants seem to be busy because the prices are pretty good but I've eaten there about five times and 50% of the time the food is not cooked properly or is that even cooked it all go always in a hurry and I am seem to have bad help and they always put your food together vegetables like hanging off the plate once you get waited on good luck if you see anybody ever again I had a very bad experience there recently and the manager did make it back to me but I don't know if I'll ever go there again. I have been to Kyma a bunch of times but I am done! They need to handle the fly problem, which the staff had no answers for. The service was horrible. The last few times that my wife and I went for lunch the orders have been incorrect and honestly it is pointless to explain to the inattentive staff. Excellent food,great service, wonderful ambience......DISAPPOINTING management!!!!! Five of us went there tonight, and two of us had been there before, and brought their own wine, previously. They suggested we bring wine, as well, as I make my own. The corkage fee in the past, up to last week, was $15 per bottle......reasonable. HOWEVER, tonite, AFTER we received the check, we were told they raised it to $25 per bottle!!!!! Just a few days ago, and AFTER our reservation was made!!!!! When it was brought to the manager's attention, he wasn't at all sympathetic, so we paid and left........ It's a shame, that a restaurant that was 1/3 full on a FRIDAY NIGHT wasn't smart enough to offer some kind of compromise to accommodate us, even though our check was over $225!!!!!! In essence, the extra $20 they made on the exorbitant corkage fee will cost them HUNDREDS in future lost revenue!!!!! As good as their food is, it's not very likely that we, nor any of our friends, will go there, or to Taverna Opa, anytime soon. Too bad....their loss!!!!! After reading Sophia's response to my post, and without picking her response apart, item by item, let's just say that Management was "Penny-wise & pound foolish!!" They could have offered to let it go this time, since they changed the rule AFTER our reservation was made.....or, at the very least, split the corkage this time!!!! Unfortunately not my best meal by far. The food was quite average at best. The We wanted to start with a Chardonnay which we asked for a taste of. It tasted as if it had been opened for quite a while. I then had an Ouzo which was also tasteless and skimpy. Had a few appetizers. Fried Calamari, just ok, Octopus which was in vinegar and raw onion, not very Greek and Kalamada olives with feta also underwhelming. Between the gnats flying around us, the very mediocre food and a dining room which was due for a major redo and clean up (ceiling a/c vents with dozens of paper napkins hanging from them which was very unattractive) it was time to go. I checked out this place for lunch with a co-worker. We got seated very quickly and opted for outside on the covered patio because it was such a beautiful day. I'm a sucker for a good Gyro, so I had to go with that. But first, they brought us warm pita and hummus. Yum! That was delicious. My Gyro came with a side Greek salad and lemon potatoes. The potatoes looked like potato salad, so I was expecting them to be warm. Just as I was thinking this and took a bite, my co-worker asked if they were warm or hot today. Odd question. Why wouldn't they be consistent? Anyway, they were cold. They were just strange because when they're mashed like that, they just seem like they should be warm. She said they are better warm, and I believe her. The Greek salad was also just OK. The dressing had too much lemon in it for me. It had very fresh veggies, nice pieces of cucumber and tomato. But just too lemony. Onto the Gyro. It was good but not great. I think the meat was a little overdone. But the tzatziki was quite tasty. I love tzatziki. My friend, however, ordered the veggie wrap, which, apparently normally comes with tzatziki. This time it did not. When she asked for some, telling them it didn't have any, the waiter wanted to charge $2. She said never mind. He ended up bringing her some (for free), which was very nice. Good sized portions for under $10 I had the chicken gyro platter and was very happy with my selection. Went to Taverna Kyma last night with my girlfriend and had an amazing experience! We sat at the bar and the bartender gave excellent service. We ordered the tzatziki, eggplant kyma, Fried zucchini, and grilled salmon. We also had a few cocktails that were super refreshing and well balanced. Everything we ordered was delicious! This place is a true gem. The food is spectacular but beyond that the atmosphere and mood of the staff is infectious. Everyone is having a great time and causes you to do the same. Our party ordered lamb shank, lamb chops, gyro, sardines, extra hummus and drinks of all kinds. The lamb chops were cooked medium (I ordered medium/rare but the cook likes medium so we got medium.) The lamb shank was dry and we all agreed that there was enough salt for three times as much food. The service was excellent, the wine was wonderful but the beer is oddly flat. I think we all agreed not to get Greek beer again. The decor is very nice and we all liked the music. The dancer was oddly neurotic. I'm wondering why anyone with that kind of personality would take up belly dancing. I've always loved Taverna Kyma before but the massive amounts of salt means I can no longer recommend them. The beer and the dancer can be avoided but the tablespoons of salt can't. Also, don't order extra hummus. It's kept ice cold. I dislike leaving bad reviews, Kyma was my all time favorite Greek restaurant in South Florida for many years and I would rate it at 5 stars but unfortunately after eating there this past weekend for my birthday I was highly disappointed. The only thing that remained 5 stars was the hummus and pita. My husband and I had steak kebabs which was my go to for dinner and was always high quality meat that melted in your mouth, this time it was so fatty and chewy both my husband and I could barely chew it. Had a baklava for dessert and it was cold and tough. I'm very sad to see my favorite place go downhill. The waiter never asked how things were and management was walking around but never stopped to make sure all was good. I miss the old staff and management and hope it will improve and go back to 5 star status in the future. read more
