Wow!! Amazing, spectacular 10/10 experience! We stopped by last minute on a busy Saturday night but were able to snag a table! We loved the ambiance of this place, such a warm and at home feel. I went with my family for a birthday dinner during happy hour and it was great! We went around 4:15pm on a Friday and made a reservation ahead of time, so there was a table ready for us when we arrived. It wasn't too busy and was not too loud inside. We ordered off of the happy hour menu which is a great deal, and everything tasted amazing. Everyone loved the croquettes and the three pastas we got. The pappardelle pasta had hint of mint in every bite which was very unique and added a nice fresh taste to the dish. It was a lot of food for five people and we even had leftovers. Came in for the late-night happy hour on a Saturday (starts at 9 PM) and was seated quickly. We Tried the rigatoni, pappardelle, and cacio e pepe. All were perfectly al dente and generous portion size. The standout for me was definitely the pappardelle. Appetizers all delivered at different times to the table - there were 3 other tables occupied, this should not have been a challenge for any half competent restaurant. Appetizers were however, delicious. My main course (pappardelle) was quite ordinary, mainly pasta with very little sauce or other ingredients and lacking in depth or complexity of flavor. Not at all what I'd anticipated given the reputation. The restaurant ambiance was to my taste either, very harsh echoy space. On the positive side, it wasn't especially expensive. After a long day at the convention, we stop by this place to grab dinner with our group of 8! I don't think they're able to see larger groups than eight so that's also something to make a note of. When we arrived, we had to wait a while for a table to become available maybe about 20 to 30 minutes. When we entered, there's some restrooms to the left and the lighting inside is pretty dim. We all took a minute to look at the menu and then meet our orders. I personally got the spaghetti and meatballs the one with a lot of cheese on top. My friends got the truffle gnocchi and one of the carbonara pastas. Overall took maybe about 20 minutes to 30 minutes for all the food to come out. Some of our friends got drinks and those came out first of course. Overall, the food tasted pretty good. The pasta was a good texture. read more

a FANTASTIC italian meal at tavolata! It was a pretty upscale place and great prices. We came during restaurant week and shared a bottle of wine, but on weekdays there are also really good pasta wine deals I highly recommend taking advantage of. The pastas here were comparatively delightful to the ones I tried in Italy, which I loved, so that says a lot! Pictured above are the Rigatoni and Bucatini. I was impressed by the amount of protein in each of the pasta that we didn't even have to add extra. Both pastas were perfectly al dente as well and the flavors were well balanced. I found Tavolata to be just mediocre for the money. I sat at the bar tonight and ordered the focaccia from their happy hour menu ($8 down from $9 regular price-- such savings!) and the butternut squash ravioli. I asked for no balsamic with either of these items, but the bread still came with olive oil and balsamic mixed together in the same dish, a big pet peeve of mine. Additionally, the bread was warm on the edges but cold/ room temp in the middle. The butternut squash ravioli was good but I expected a larger portion for $30. And honestly, if I'm paying $30 for pasta with no protein, it had better be life changing. The final nail came from the 22% service charge added to the bill. The service was fine, but I think tacking on any more than 20% automatically to all bills is offensive. With the service charge, I paid $50 for bread and pasta, no drink. The quality just wasn't there for 50 bucks! read more

My sister absolutely loves tavolata so I assume I would too. I came here with my friend after visiting another restaurant near by. We snacked at the other place so decided to get dinner here. The appetizer we ordered were great. We got burrata and focaccia. I really loved the burrata. So simple but so refreshing at the same time. The focaccia came with the honey butter that was so tasty! I ended up ordering the gnocchi and my friend got the pappardelle. We both didn't enjoy it and that's a shame because I usually love gnocchi. This didn't have the chew and bounce that I'm use too. It's serve in large round biscuit shape and very soft. Maybe it's the texture for me but I didn't like it and the sauce was a bit tart for my taste. I tried some of my friend's pappardelle and the sauce was a bit more mild but it was missing something. Maybe we had an off night since she said she normally really like it. The place was kind of dead for a Saturday night and the server was nice but sort of awkward haha. I'll have to try this again another time I suppose. read more

A great Italian restaurant in the heart of Capitol Hill. Great ambiance and I love its huge windows that bring in tons of natural light. I love all the wood tones and it has such a great home vibe. It is a great place for large parties or a friend's night out. They have a great happy hour deal and a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat before the rest of your night. I got a glass of the rose which had wonderful clean flavors. For food, we ordered the Caesar Salad, Papparadelle, and Cacio e Pepe. My favorite was the Caesar Salad, light, flavorful, and not overly dressed. Both the Papparadelle and Cacio e Pepe were delicious but slightly on the heavier side. This place was very mid for the price. Good location though. Food was just alright, the pasta was nothing special in my opinion. I added chicken to it because I wanted extra protein but the chicken was very dry and not much flavor. The portion size was decent. Service was okay, he was pretty nice in the beginning and attentive. But when we asked him to split the bill at the end, he seemed a little annoyed and sassy. Also, 22 percent of gratuity is added regardless of how many people are there. That part I didn't like very much, seems a little too much. Ambiance was nice, overall pretty clean. Cozy aesthetic. Come for the happy hour!! All the pastas are full sized and the are AMAZING! Highly recommend the beets as an appetizer and the Papardelle as the main. The bartenders remember you, remember your drink... kinda an upscale "Cheers" I love that the service charge is distributed throughout the house, AND that they are very clear about that (unlike a recent bar I was in that did not tell you that they already had 20% on top of the bar, so I was tipping out like 50%? I got to enjoy a Seattle Restaurant Week meal at Tavolata this year. The patio was a joy, as always. The chefs at Tavolata create beautiful meals, a treat for the eyes. The delicats squash appetizer was fantastic. It never would have occurred to me to pair it with pomegranate seeds, but they went so, SO well together. It was a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. The braised short rib was sweet and incredibly tender it paired wall with the slightly bitter savory flavor of thee Brussels sprouts and mashed parsnip. The pumpkin panna cotta was a disappointment. The pumpkin spice flavor overwhelmed the subtle flavor and texture of the panna cotta. Despite the dessert, I'm glad I got a chance to try the SRW menu! read more

I have been wanting to try Tavolata for a while now, and finally made it for dinner on Valentines Day. We got to try their special Valentines Day menu at $85 per person and an additional wine pairing for $55. The 4 course menu included Primi which was shared for the table, Pasta, Entree, and Dessert. Primi included Chicory Salad, Ahi Crudo, Bruschetta, and Cauliflower soup. I loved the Ahi Crudo, and Cauliflower Soup, Bruschetta was great, and Chicory Salad was good. For the Pasta course, we picked Conchiglie Nero, and Pappardelle. I loved the Conchiglie Nero, the combination of prawns, and 'Nduja. Pappardelle was good, our first time having to pork cheek, it's rich and added a great flavor to the pasta. For Entree, we chose Braised Short Rib, and Scallops. Scallops were great, loved the Parnsip Puree that came with it. Braised Short Rib was good, the polenta was great. For Dessert, we got Paris-Brest, and Flourless Chocolate Cake. We loved our desserts. The best Paris-Brest we have had, the candied orange added a punch to it. Great Chocolate cake! We will be back to try their normal menu. read more

Cozy ambiance and great customer service. We had the Burrata, Shrimp Paccheri, and Pappardelle- everything was amazing.

We had reservations here on the Saturday night that Taylor Swift was in town, in anticipation that restaurants everywhere would be crazy busy, but that was far from the case when we arrived. Our reservation was for counter seating, but seeing as it wasn't too busy, the staff kindly accommodated our request to sit at a table instead. Our server was spirited and delightful, and the other wait staff who presented our dishes were so friendly and welcoming. My friend and I shared the Focaccia Bread, the Roasted Beet Salad (which she had before and raved about), and Pappardelle with beef and pork ragu. Focaccia was good, though nothing to get too excited over. We were big fans of the roasted beets - we both loved how colorful and sweet they were and couldn't get enough of the whipped ricotta that coated the sides of the bowl. Having recently returned from a trip to Italy, I was impressed by how the pappardelle was reminiscent of a similar dish I'd had in Florence. The portions were generous and had us feeling stuffed. For a complimentary birthday treat, our server brought a scoop of pistachio gelato to top off the meal. Overall, a wonderful meal before our evening at the theater! read more

The experience i had from the moment I stepped into the restaurant to leaving the restaurant was great. I walked into the restaurant around 730 pm without any reservation. The host offered me the counter seats, but I really wanted the booth seats. The restaurant was quite packed despite of being on the weekday. Anyhow there was one booth that is for bigger party and she was able to accommodate us with a big smile. The host was wonderful. Then we had a super wonderful cherry server who recommended fantastic red bubbles and she was super. She had a great timing checking up on us several times and always on top of all our needs. The food was good. I likes the res beet salad and Brussel sprouts, but it felt very standard dish. So was the papadelle pasta. It was good in a standard way, but I did not think it was an exceptional pasta I ever had. The tiramisu was also tasty. I will be back for the service and ambiance. BTW they charge automatic service charge on the bill. With 2 apps and one pasta. 2 desserts and bottle of wine was 210 dollars. I felt it was little on the pricey side for what it is. read more

However, the automatic 20% gratuity on a PARTY OF 4 is just ridiculous (I can understand parties of 6 or more).
