Visiting Seattle for the first time, I was really looking forward to coming here after looking up some places that were popular for some seafood or highly recommended. Upon walking in, we noticed the server was pretty quick to take the initiative to push a couple high tops together since most of the tables only sat 2. We also had a child with us so he offered us a booster seat. I feel like that was the last time we were treated pleasantly. Our server was very dry and direct when he approached us. I told him my husband has celiac and his response was "Ok." I followed up with so can you tell us what options we have that are Gluten free friendly? (Didn't think I needed to ask after mentioning a severe allergy) He just stepped away and looked like he was trying to find out from someone in the kitchen. He came back shortly after and gave us our options. We ordered a few different things to share, oysters, the fish dip and mussels tostada. The vibe we got was that he did not enjoy serving us because we had a child with us and I seem to be asking him too many questions. That is the impression he left with us. I will say the oysters were very fresh and enjoyable. We also got the crab Mac n cheese which was cheesy and tasty. We asked him for some more chips since we ran out quickly for the smoked oyster dip. He seemed annoyed but got us more. I could overhear that he sounded more pleasant with the other guests surrounding us. The mussels tostada flavors were nice but I didn't love the texture of them which is totally just my preference. He dropped off the check shortly after and noticed there was a 18% gratuity which I found out is standard for downtown Seattle. Being in the industry I do think it's a courtesy to mention it when dropping off the check to a guest. On another note, I did think the seafood tank in the center was cool because you could see all the geoduck and oysters they were offering. Overall, I think we wanted to enjoy our experience more but the servers attitude and demeanor towards us was off putting and we just tried to eat quickly and leave. Don't think we'll return to this location.

Dropped by on a Friday afternoon for happy hour after walking around Emerald City Comic Con all morning. Their happy hour runs from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday; we arrived around 2:30 and the place was packed. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes to be seated. From the happy hour menu, we ordered: Oysters of the Day: The Beach Glass and Kumamoto were today's oysters, so we ordered six of each at $2.25 apiece, which was a pretty good deal. The Kumamoto is on the sweeter side and went down nice and smooth. The Beach Glass was firmer with more of a chew. Both were really tasty and super fresh. Geoduck Chowder: The chowder itself is not too heavy and was really tasty. People are probably used to having clams in their chowder, but geoduck is a great alternative. We ordered this with a side of bread. Smoked Oyster Dip: This one is very creamy and savory, and it tasted great with the smoked oysters in it. It came with potato chips, which were fine, but since the dip is already salty, the chips made it even saltier. It goes down really well with a pint of beer, but we ended up eating it with our side of bread from the chowder, which paired better than the chips in my opinion. From the regular menu, we decided to order the Crab Mac and Cheese. They used a smoked Beecher's cheese sauce which was great, but it seemed to overpower the crab meat. It isn't a dish I would recommend for the crab. Overall, happy hour at Taylor's is still a great deal and a must-visit for fresh oysters.

Be aware of the service charge added to every check.

My hubby is an oyster fan and we've frequented this location whenever we visit Seattle. There's always a huge crowd and line, but just go up to the host desk, check in, and they'll text you when a table is ready. We had a very brief wait on a Friday night. The staff here is so friendly, and while the restaurant serves some other seafood, oysters are their specialty. They have cool tanks right in the middle of the restaurant so you can see how fresh the oysters are. It's expensive, but on par with prices of fresh, raw oysters. Hubby got a dozen variety and loved them. They were so fresh, looked great and smelled like the ocean. I don't eat raw oysters, but he recommends the variety platter so you can try all sorts of different oysters. Note that all of the oysters served here are farm raised. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I know some food snobs would be horrified by that, LOL. Although I don't eat oysters (I've had shrimp here before that was okay), I almost always get a glass of champagne. They have a good drink menu although I find the pours are a bit stingy. Come here with money because it's pricey. A dozen oysters and a glass of champagne ran us $80. Also pay close attention to your check because the restaurant automatically adds a 19% service charge to your bill.

You see all of this magic I cannot name it all!

Yall. Literally, I am fresh off the plane from Charlotte, NC and I was treated like absolute royalty! This experience was so fresh and refreshing and the customer service?! What great things can I say about my server, Kinzie? This woman is such a gift and she deserves whatever raise she needs!! She is a light in this establishment and I enjoyed my meal as much as her company!

Taylor Shellfish Farm is, as the name suggests, a Shellfish Farm. Would I consider it a restaurant? Not really. Ambiance is casual, with the shellfish in the middle of the room it makes it feel like you're eating at a seafood market. Service is friendly and they check in from time to time. My partner and I got the Shucker's dozen, some additional kumamotos, and the soy and wasabi geoduck. When it came to the oysters, they were all typical of west coast oysters: meaty, crisp, sweet and refreshing. But because of this, the differences in flavor were very subtle and after a few oysters, they started to get a little bland. And while they provide a mignonette and lemon, the oysters may work a little better as dressed oysters rather than eaten straight off the half-shell. The only oysters I would consider having standalone are the kumamotos. While I do appreciate the quality of the other oysters standalone, I wouldn't have them as the star of a meal. The geoduck is similar to the oysters: fresh and sweet but better as an appetizer than a standalone dish. The white wine that we ordered to go with our shellfish was also nothing to write home about. So when I say Taylor Shellfish Farms is a Shellfish Farm and not a restaurant, I mean it's not your trendy oyster bar with cocktails, vibes, and a curated list of 30 of the best oysters from around the world/across the country. I think a better way to showcase these oysters is by dressing them or getting creative with them, because I wouldn't go out of my way to have a meal here.

Unfortunately, I got super sick from the oysters here... I got a dozen on happy hour and I don't remember what kind they were but I was pleasantly surprised that they were so large. But bigger doesn't always mean better (and I live in Texas).... The oysters weren't that flavorful and were a bit on the chewier side. I can usually down a dozen oysters easily but I should've known something was up when I was losing my appetite after half a dozen. I didn't order anything else so my experience is only based on HH oysters. Anyways, the service was also super slow from getting seated to flagging someone down to order and to grabbing the check even though they weren't busy at all. The place is super cute though and if by curious to see how the main dishes are. But like I said, I got sick so I don't think I'll be back.

Great spot for very fresh seafood! I stopped by for the first time since I was nearby. We were seated right away and our waiter introduced the menu to us. We decided on the oyster sampler which was 2x of the six types if oysters they have and perfect for 2 people to share. All the oysters are super fresh and tasty. The waiter all mentioned they have fresh uni that day so we decided to get it. The uni is bigger than I expected and easily the highly. It tasted very fresh and creamy and goes well on toasts. Prices are reasonable for the quality of seafood. Service is very attentive. Overall I definitely would come back, especially for the uni.

    Fresh NW Dungeness Crab

The food was good! We had the Shuckers Dozen oysters and the Fresh NW Dungeness Crab. The oysters were as fresh as they can get and they have a wide variety available. The Shuckers Dozen is a variety of the oysters they have. You can see all the oysters being kept fresh in tanks in the middle of the restaurant! The crab was served with a delicious housemade sauce, but the cold crab is a little different to me (I'm used to hot steamed crab!), but we ate it all up easily! The service was amazing. They were extremely friendly, checked in often and had super fast service! They were also knowledgeable about their products and talked us through their oyster farm and each variety! We were also able to get a table immediately, but it was busy on a sunday night. People coming in and out while were there. The ambience is totally laid back and casual. They play some sports, and have a relaxed dress code.

Food - my husband and i split the crab. it came cold - which is always a surprise to me. i dunno if its an asian thing, but i always expect crab to be hot. anyways it came cold and with some sauce made with crab fat. i liked it, but maybe also an asian thing. i need to eat it with some rice. so we ordered a side of rice which greatly improved my experience hahaha. i dont eat oysters but obviously that is what they are known for. they have a ton of options & sampler plates. and geoduck! they make sashimi & also cook it in their chowder. maybe next time i will be brave enough to try it. service - excellent. very attentive & friendly. knowledgeable about the shellfish. ambiance - chill vibes. dont need to dress up. seemed to be fairly busy when we went, but got a table right away on a sunday night. not too many spots for large parties.

    $20 Geoduck Sashimi (soy/wasabi)
    Quinn N.

+ Exotic cuisine. I saw the geoduck recommended for tourists on YouTube and I had to try it. The geoduck itself is crunchy. + The medium you choose adds to the experience. For example, the sashimi gives you the full crunchy texture feel of the geoduck, while the chowder option gives you a warmer, homey feel. + Polite staff. + On Sunday at 3pm, I was seated right away. + Nice window view of the street outside. . Despite the photos you see online of the actual geoduck, they don't actually sell you a whole geoduck to eat there. They'll chop it up and serve in bit-size portions. - A bit extortionate. It's kind of fair though, given the illustrious geoduck. - However, you also have the 18.90% obligatory service charge. Whew! Exorbitant overall. I had: $20 Geoduck Sashimi soy/wasabi + $10 Geoduck chowder + 18.9% service charge + tax = $39.37

Taylor Shellfish is where you go if you want fresh, delicious shellfish and don't mind paying for it. Our oysters were delicious and went down easy. Prawns were sizable and the sauce gave it good flavor. The crabs were pre-broken it in making it easy to get the good bits of meat. They offer some good white wine options that pair well. Service is solid and they have their oyster stations in the center for your viewing pleasure. Only cool is they share a bathroom with marketplace next door.

We came here because we wanted to try some fresh oysters while visiting Seattle. The place is small and super casual but it's perfect for dropping by for a quick little snack. We ordered the Kumamoto oysters which were fresh and sweet. I personally prefer smaller oysters because they're easier to eat so these were perfect. We also ordered Uni which came with some toast and I REALLY liked how they paired together. The toast was thin and crispy and the Uni was very creamy. I've never had Uni with toast before but this was so delicious! Service was quick and friendly. Would definitely come back next time I visit Seattle again.

From that first dish, we knew that this fresh, foraged menu was going to be something different. The rest of the night was one knockout showcase of seasonal farm to table masterpieces to the next. The entire presentation was delivered by attentive wait staff putting on what felt more like a well-rehearsed play with each act starting with a wickedly creative, hand-crafted drink pairing (non alcoholic for us, but you can get wine, cider, or a cocktail) before each course. The whole vibe isn't pretentious or bourgeois; it's grateful. Everyone there including the chefs know there isn't anything like this in the city, much less the state. It was one of the more pleasant restaurant guest audiences I've ever been around too. It felt like all the nice people in the city decided to meet, so this 5-star review is for our fellow diners too. The only thing missing was a moment for the chefs to take a bow at the end, but instead they sneaked out the door, off to wherever superfoodie heroes go after a night of saving palates. #salute.
