It was my first time dining at Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar. Our server was excellent! He was super friendly and very patient with our table. He was good at providing suggestions. Food wise, it is 3.5/5 for me. I ordered one of each oysters on the menu and they were not bad but not as fresh, sweet as I wanted. The geoduck clam chowder was good. We ordered their steamer which was pretty heavy on the white wine, which I feel like it could improve on the flavor and the clams were small. A great little oyster bar in the Queen Anne district. I've tried their Samish bay location as well. Their oysters and seafood are top notch, fresh, and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. I tried the Shuckers dozen which was two each of Virginica, Kumamoto, petite pacific, fat bastard, shigoko, and Olympia. A great variety of size and flavors, all great and very fresh. It always difficult to stop at a dozen, especially when they're so good! They didn't even need the wash or lemon. This location is cute small oyster bar, the one on Samish bay is located along the shore of the bay, both remind me very much of my favorite Tomales bay oyster place.., both are great for fresh oysters, seafood, and service. I finished off the seafood feast with the North West geoduck chowder ( pronounced gooey duck for those of us new to the area) OMG! So tasty and yummy! My opinion, as good as any clam chowder I've had in SF or Monterey, flavorful, a little kick, and the Geoduck adds it's on unique bivalve flavor... ya gotta try it, especially if you're a clam chowder aficionado, great on a PNW winter evening. Good selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The oyster shot can be either vodka or tequila, I had not had it with tequila before, definitely worth trying, another unique taste. Got here at 6:30p to meet on a Thursday and the restaurant was somewhat busy so we got seated at the bar. We were meeting with friends so we asked to be moved to a table and our request was acknowledged just after a couple minutes with no questions asked. I love coming here and always get the Dungeness crab. They crack the whole thing open for you and mix the insides with the most decadent, sweet, salty, and creamy mixture to dip the meat in. It's such a fun meal to eat! Everything else we ate was super delicious too. We ordered a Caesar salad, the raw dozen oysters and the broiler oysters as well. We got some bread and butter to sop up the extra sauce from the crab dish. Soooo yummy. The staff was friendly and I love the ambiance in there. Came here for Happy Hour on Friday 2-5pm weekdays for affordable west coast oysters and cocktails. The restaurant isn't huge but on a weekday, it isn't as packed. There's a large bar for patrons as well as plenty of side tables, both low and hightops and outdoor seating. We got a whole bottle of rose and got a couple of dirty martinis after. I unfortunately cannot remember the price but definitely worth it. We also got a dozen Pacific oysters which tasted really fresh. It came with a vinaigrette sauce and no cocktail sauce. We also got the sashimi geoduck which was not part of the happy hour but couldn't resist. It was great. Some parts of the geoduck were chewy and some super soft. The light lime jalapeno sauce it came with was the perfect pairing. If you can make it for happy hour, it definitely is worth it. This was the first time I ever had oysters. I didn't know what to expect I just knew I couldn't leave Seattle again without trying some oysters. I was down to try at least 4. Once seated, my very knowledgeable waitress, Amanda, ran though the entire variety on the menu. For dinner we ordered the whole crab , a baguette and some Castelvetrano olives. Everything was beyond great. The sauce that they make from the rendered crab fat is crave-able. So I was scouring the web on the hunt for the best oysters and seafood in general in Seattle and I want to note be prepared to spend $$$ if you're not going during happy hour and we got the Shucker's Dozen, Peel and Easy Prawns (Cocktail Shrimp), and the Smoked Oyster Dip. I would pass on the Cocktail Shrimp, it was underwhelming (they gave you about 4 pieces and it was okay not super fresh) and the Smoked Oyster Dip was pricy for what was served (it was okay). Went to Taylor Shellfish on a Sunday afternoon around 2 and was seated at the bar right away. Wait staff was nice and ordered the Shuckers dozen with the geoduck sashimi. This was a good option to try some different types of oysters. Wouldn't highly recommend the geoduck, it was our first time trying it and was very chewy. (No fault of the restaurant, we just didn't enjoy it) Music was pretty loud rock which wasn't our favorite, but we were the only people really there. We had to have oysters to complete our trip and Taylor's happy hour oysters did it for us. When I was researching the best spots for happy hour, Taylor's popped up on most of, if not all, the blogs and articles I read. It took awhile to find parking. Most of the spots on the street are metered but when we went, we couldn't find any nearby. We ended up parking a block or two away. We didn't have to wait long for a table though. The hostess asked if we wanted our own table or if we were okay with sharing a long table with other parties. We picked the latter so we could get started sooner. It's not a bad deal, $21 for a dozen comes down to $1.75 per oyster. I've had cheaper but oysters are supposed to be good in Seattle so we decided to splurge a little. We weren't aware that horseradish and the cocktail sauce would cost extra...no where on the happy hour menu was it explicitly said. So that kind of sucked. We also ordered a smoked oyster dip to share. The oysters were solid! Every single piece tasted fresh and they were all a pretty good size. The smoked oyster dip was interesting. I couldn't really taste the oysters even though there were chunks in the dip but my friends said they could tell. Would recommend and would come back again. We just got done watching the Storm vs Suns game. We walked in (our first time) and walked right out 5 minutes after we were seated. The guy (cap and beard) who seated us asked if bar seats were OK. I asked "is it ok if we sit at a table instead?" He laughed with a smart ass look on his face and said "uh yeah you can sit at a table, haha", and chuckled. Not very good vibe for our first time. During COVID, I picked up a few skills including shucking oysters so a take out order from here was perfect. I tried 3 varieties including Shigokus, sumo kumos and fat bastards. They were all as fresh as they could be with not a bad one in the bunch. The dungeness crab was also excellent. While the presentation is a bit different with take out, the crab is super easy to eat and the sauce is so tasty. I wanted to explore Lower Queen Anne and looked to Yelp for restaurant recommendations. I'm trying to explore different cuisines in Seattle and was in the mood for fish. Luckily, Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar popped up. One quick look at their website and menu, I was hooked. Taylor's is known for its varieties of oysters, clams, sashimi, Dungeness crab and poke. The establishment reminds me of an upscale fish shack with open bar and warm lighting. There are seating options: outdoor patio, bar or indoor dining. Before entering you are asked to download Taylor's menu and then wait to be served. I previewed the menu beforehand and knew exactly what I wanted: steamers! (My dad got me hooked when I was young, Lundys. The original Lundy's in Sheepshead Bay. The clams were enormous and served with drawn butter and hot water). These steamers come with either pesto cream or classic (butter and shallots). I chose classic whose presentation was lovely: a mound of clams ( small size) swimming in a buttery broth with onions and celery. Three sprigs of thyme were nestled atop and added a nice flavor. I hesitated to ask for bread, but did take one slice to dip in delicious broth. The only drawback: I wish the clams were bigger and meatier. $15 was not a hefty tag for them but I wouldn't have minded paying more for substance. The clams had a sweet taste to them. I also ordered a Caesar Salad which came with anchovies and a mound of Parmesan cheese; tasty, fresh and delicious. And to wash it down?? an IPA of course. I forgot to ask which brand but it was delicious. All in all a lovely light dinner. Also close to the Space Needle and Pacific Science Center. Good news - Taylor has some of the best and freshest oysters you'll ever have. Bad news - we can't eat oysters at home on the east coast now because Taylor's were so good. We ordered a sampler dozen platter first to try out the 5 varieties available, and then ordered another half dozen of 2 of the varieties. They come with a housemade vinegarish sauce. If you want the traditional sauces, you have to pay extra. They had briny oysters, meaty oysters, and even one that had a slightly sweet after-taste. So delicious! We also ordered an arugula salad - the dressing tossed in it was great. The guy shucking our oysters was nice and conversational and helpful. However, our actual server was pretty lackluster. Because the natural flavors are just so awesome, they serve it raw with lemon, soy sauce and wasabi. Taylor shellfish oyster bar is now one of my top favs in Seattle. We tried their oyster sampler platter. Out of the four that we tried, we liked the fat bastard the most. It was fat, juicy, slimy, salty, sweet and fresh in all the good ways. My friends asked what I wanted to do or eat when I was visiting. I told them they could pick as long as I got some oysters this trip. Since we've all been to Elliot's a few times, they suggested Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar. It was a great choice because parking was easy to find and the place had a view of the Space Needle. Great for tourists or for a date. I saw some people having a business meeting there as well. When you walk in, there are several tanks that hold their live shellfish. Good to know what you order is alive and fresh. We ordered a bunch of shucked oysters to share and they were so good! Sweet and plump! We also ordered the Pesto Steamed Clams. It was also very good. Customer service wasn't outstanding but decent. The place was fairly busy so understandable. Great spot and I can see myself coming here again on a future trip to Seattle. read more

Happy Hour Oysters ($1.75 per) There were two types of happy hour oysters which was nice: Pacific and Shigoku. The Shigoku oysters were the better ones here. Happy with the happy hour oysters. Scallop Ceviche ($12.00) The scallop ceviche were decent but the portion you get is way too small for the price, even if it was a happy hour price. Service The staff was heavily understaffed and one of the waitresses was clearly stressed; so much that she got snippy with us asking for water. She ended up leaving at one point, even though there were still a lot of customers left. I felt bad for the remaining waitress having to run every table remaining. Oysters were great, scallop ceviche good but way overpriced, and understaffed. The one waitress being snippy didn't help either. read more

I went there for the HH oysters and geoduck sashimi, and they did not disappoint. The oysters were fresh; so enjoyable with a squeeze of lemon and/or splash of vinegar. The geoduck sashimi came with two textures and was sweet tasting. My wife isn't a huge fan of seafood (certainly not raw), but she enjoyed the baked clams and broiled oysters. One star off because they add a 18% service fee to the bill. (Soapbox: Many restaurants do this now. I don't make a fuss if it's only 1-3%. But when it's 18-20%, it confuses the customer: Does the service charge replace the tip, or is it in addition? If a restaurant needs to cover additional cost to pay their staff a fair wage, be upfront about it and raise the menu prices.) read more

Why is geoduck so expensive? I am pretty addicted to their geoduck sashimi which is so fresh and delicious. I can easily consume a plate or two by myself.
