TDY is one of the best movers.The workers came on time, packed and moved my things professionally.Delivery to Georgia was within a reasonable time. The most surprising aspect of it was that the delivery men unpacked and assembled all my furniture before demanding for the balance. I used TDY for a move to GA and I was not pleased with the entire transaction. Upon pick up of my items I did have a few more boxes/items than was projected on my initial estimate. The total cost was then increased as expected however the total amount of payments that I ended up paying turned out to be more than that of the bill. When questioned I was told that my updated bill was sent to me which in fact it was not. When trying to get a hold of someone to discuss the matter I was told I would get a call back which I never got. Another issue I had with the initial pick up was the way the movers themselves tried to haggle us for a higher tip. Although they state that the tip was OPTIONAL, it still was made very clear that they expected a large tip. When the $400 tip was given for the 3 movers, the lead mover stated "I was expecting more but I can take this". I understand that they make money off of tips but do not try pressure me into giving you more. The drop off experience was much better. Those guys were very helpful and didn't make me feel like I had to give them anything. This led me gave them the tip they deserved. I'm not sure that I would recommend TDY to anyone else. read more

We did our apartment move from upper Manhattan to Chinatown with TDY. Scheduling the move and getting an estimate was easy enough. The problem was that the movers left a valuable ($$ and sentimental) rug in the truck. We didn't notice until fully unpacked and then started a long and frustrating series of calls and emails to get someone to pay attention. Three months have gone by with the final response of "Well, things get lost sometimes". No offer to compensate in anyway. Bad, bad customer service. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Highly recommend! Angi was great with setting up the move and giving me a quote. Jeff, Brian, and Sergey did a great job when my mother moved in November. The move was going to be a little more than a month away. During that time, I had several questions that I emailed to Angi. She always answered me the same day and was really helpful. I emailed her a couple of days before the move just to make sure everything was going to be ready on the day of the move. She replied right away to confirm the day and time and to let me know everything was ready as planned. She then had dispatch contact me the day before the move just to reassure me. In my opinion, communication is important when it comes to moving. It reassures you that the moving company didn't forget about the day of your move. Angi did a great job. On the day of the move I went to my mother's apartment and I noticed that there were still things that weren't packed yet. I apologized to Jeff and asked him if he had boxes in the truck and if they could wrap and pack the remaining items. He said that it wouldn't be a problem and they would take care of it. I told him that I know the original quote didn't take this into account so I would pay for the additional boxes and labor and to just add it on to the original quote. The guys carefully wrapped and packed the remaining items. They did a great job setting up my mother's new apartment. They moved everything in without damaging walls or floors. After they were done, Jeff told me that there wouldn't be any additional cost for the boxes, wrapping material, and labor. He said that it actually went much smoother than anticipated and the cost of the move would remain the same. I was so surprised by that. We used TDY to move our furniture and belongings from our old apartment to TDY's storage unit for two weeks, and then to our new apartment, all within NYC. I was amazed at how nonchalant they were about losing some of our property between their storage unit and our new apartment. We had to buy a new curtain rod because they misplaced ours and they seemed utterly unconcerned when we called them about it. Now we have to go out and replace a large mirror that simply never arrived at our new apartment. The movers were very friendly and efficient and they gave us a good deal but if I could do it again I would pay more for more organized and reliable service, particularly for storage. read more

WORST MOVE I've ever had. I used TDY (Ed McKeon) who franchised his company from Marrins. Marrins was the best mover I ever used (Marrins recommended Ed - which is why I went with him. The other reviewers talk about "Mike" - so I don't know if Ed bought out his business. I moved from NY to Philadelphia. Things were indiscriminately placed in boxes and it took me forever to find things. Furthermore - really bad scenarios: A. Stunning large antique gold leaf frame mirror - valued at $4,800 - had 3 pieces broken off...and the movers didn't even leave this fragile item in the box. Maybe if they had, and if the pieces had fallen off - I would have had them. As it now stands - I have to get a frame restorer to fix the frame. Just great. B. Onyx globe lamp. $750 dollars. This was put in a box without so much as bubblewrap or paper wrapping it up. C. FYI: When one of his team asked me to check the kitchen cabinets to be certain nothing was left behind....the very first cabinet door I opened there were many things left in the cabinet. Do you think he would have checked that first? C. WORST YET - And the reason I've taken to Yelp - I called Ed who said he was in his truck and his blue tooth wasn't working and that he would call me back when he got to the office. UPDATE: I'm happy to report that I received my mattress yesterday and was refunded the $250 disposal fee. I really appreciate the steps taken to rectify my mattress mishap. TDY stepped up and took responsibility for what went wrong and I respect that, and it made me remember why I had used them twice before. I won't be moving again for a while but I can honestly say that after this experience I believe that there are decent moving companies out there! How does one lose a mattress?!! A Queen sized mattress at that! What a high level of professional incompetence, neglect and/or indifference it must take to accomplish this!! This is my my first Yelp review, and I have never felt inclined to review anything until my experience tonight. First let me say that I have used TDY twice before without incident and I figured why not once more.This was a pretty idiot proof move. My things (except for 3 boxes out of 70) had been professionally packed, shipped internationally, and placed in storage. All TDY had to do was load up a truck with my 70 boxes, drive to NOLA, and unload. I recently moved back from Abu Dhabi to Brooklyn and now have resettled in New Orleans. My mattress made it from the United Arab Emirates with no problem but somehow got lost on the way from Brooklyn to New Orleans. While reviewing TDY's paperwork during the move I noticed only 68 boxes with 2 noted as missing on 9/24/2016, 5 days after my things were picked up in Brooklyn. No one at dispatch answered my calls and when I finally spoke to Sonny At Rodeway Moving (the company making delivery) he stated that TDY was well aware of any missing items and someone on their end should have contacted me. Interesting since I had several conversations with Nigel and another person at dispatch in the days leading up to my delivery today, 9 days after my missing items were noted!! I'm not unreasonable and make allowances for things to go awry, but a mattress!!!! I still have yet to figure out the contents of the second missing box. And, to add insult to injury I paid a $250 disposal fee to ensure that all boxes and packing materials would be removed including a wooden crate that contained an oversized floor mirror. The delivery men left my building's hallway strewn with materials, dumped boxes in the parking area, and left the wooden crate next to a dumpster outside the premises with my name exposed. This was probably their petty retaliation for me being vocal with how displeased I was. This was my 9th move. I have gone interstate and internationally with bumps in the road that I took in stride because I know moving is hard and things happen. I'm not expecting perfection but I do expect integrity and honesty. Today leaves me utterly disgusted and feeling that I can never trust a moving company again. read more

Do not go through this company!!! They will try and cheat you out of your money. I had one of their estimators come out and do an evaluation and give me an estimate of how much room I was going to take on the truck. The day of the move comes and they pack up my belongings efficiently and at the end the head guy said "Good News, you only took up $2000 of extra room on the truck" We had to physically go down and measure the truck ourselves while the 7 movers were agreeing with us that we only took up the amount of room that was estimated. After going back and forth for over an hour, they finally agreed with the measurements we took and we settled on the amount that was actually used. Fast forward to the day of the delivery they said they would only accept cash and we had to pay them before unloading the truck not after. I told them that is not acceptable and they said that my belongings would stay on the truck until I paid them in cash. To top if all off they completely destroyed a piece of my furniture and I have dents in multiple other pieces. Very Shady company and I would not recommend to anyone. read more

If you value your property, avoid this company. First and foremost, notice that each and every review on here has 5 stars. Ask yourself if that is truly possible. I have been told they are in business for 13 years now and yet the only reviews are for the last two years. Anyway, I moved from NY to Illinois in May/June. The guys that came to pack up my belongings were awesome. They were courteous and professional. I was really impressed and liked them all. What upset me about this company was when they delivered my items to Illiniois. See pictures below. First, it was my sofa. The head guy/driver said to me that he can't move my sofa into my apartment because its too long. Well, did you try? No attempts were made. He had the audacity to ask for $100 to move my sofa after I already paid in full!! So I ask him if he "thinks I'm rich?" I told him I already paid and I will not be giving him any of my money. He kept harassing me about my sofa and the $100. I told him to use my balcony, I'm on the second floor and the balcony is low. He laughed at that. My neighbor told me that the balcony is what everyone else uses if they can't fit anything through the door. He said no. I even asked my neighbor if she could open her door to facilitate my moving my it, she said she would He then started complaining about it to my NEW NEIGHBOR. Really? So unprofessional. I had to cut that conversation short and direct him to my garage space. I told him to leave it there and I will have someone else move it. When I wasn't looking he and his co-worker surely placed the sofa in the garage but ON THE DIRTY GROUND. See pictures below. Now, this is my sofa. I didn't win it, I didn't inherit it, I paid for it with my own money. So imagine how upset this made me to see it on the dirty ground. This was bought in January 2014! And now it sits on the ground with the plastic that was PROTECTING it laying next on the ground. This ticked me off. Then he started laughing. So I called the company and told them. The response? You can get it cleaned and we can reimburse you. Are you serious???? If it rains, what happens to the bottom of my sofa? No protection whatsoever. But thats not all folks. Now I bring you to my bed. Now, 3 years ago, there was a slight crack on one of the frames of my bed. No big deal, it still held up and did its job. I had no reason to replace it. Today, its broken in two (See pictures below). Now, if you look at my bed, it tilts down because there is no support. The response for the delivery guy? "Do you have some books? The books can prop it up." Absolutely ridiculous! Third is my armoire, when it was wrapped up, they screws were also wrapped up and placed on the truck. Everything was there. Now, they are nowhere to be found. So my armoire has not been fastened and can fall over at any time. The driver who seems to be the head is the only one that speaks SOME English. When I was getting upset throughout the whole delivery, he kept laughing. Apparently, my sofa on the ground and the broken frame of my bed is funny. read more

I just moved in yesterday ... I called TDY last minute needed a quick move from BK to Queens and they booked me gave me a quote and came out that weekend ON TIME! The three guys i had was amazing Sadiq, Dennis , and i forget the third ones name but they were all friendly moved all of my furniture from my 1 bedroom in 50 minutes!!!! They had to break down my bed, dresser, dinning room table , and a sectional couch by the way!!! Once we got to queens they were again done super quickly .. they placed everything where i asked and put EVERYTHING back together again . My ending number was $100 more but that was because of traffic and my staircase in my new house made getting the furniture upstairs a bit complicated ... but i have no doubt if it wasnt for my weird staircase and traffic I would have paid the exact quoted estimate. Keep in mind i had not packed anything and also didn't have boxes, John and his men provided me with everything we needed! Absolutely horrible company. They moved me last year and damaged 1 item, I filed a claim per their instructions and got jerked around for 6 months. When I requested an update they said I did not send a picture of the damage, when I re-sent the e-mail with the picture attached AGAIN they said they would process. BEWARE!! NIGHTMARE! MUST READ!!! Short Story: They quoted me $2,322.09,They charged me $3,740.00 Local mover to finish job $400 Total Spent: $4,140.00 My TDY NIGHTMARE: They showed up days late. They ruined my Tempur-Pedic bed, they dinged and bent my dining room table base, they ripped my Italian sofa's, all of my furniture is scratched, they ABANDONED my dining table glass top downstairs, they left the dressers and bureaus upside down and they didn't finish the job!! I called the police when their mover wouldn't finish the job and was threatening me, because I told him that he had to finish bringing my table top upstairs in the elevator. The POLICE report will be ready to pick up this afternoon and I am going straight to my attorney who has already been briefed. They are LIARS, BULLIES and completely UNPROFESSIONAL. One of the two movers moved me in FLIP-FLOPS!!! The Entire Story: After collecting several quotes for my move from New York to Ft. Lauderdale, I decided to go with TDY Moving, because they were not the cheapest, but they we priced competitively and they had the best reviews. The quite was based on the size of my storage space which was a 10x15, so I was told that although it was an estimate, it should be pretty accurate, because of the set storage space which equals to a set cubic foot measurement. I emailed back and forth with Chenee and told her I needed my things on December 15, but that I couldn't receive it before then, because I would not have the keys to my new place until the day before that. Chenee assured me that it would be there on the 15th and that it wouldn't be a problem.The day of the pick up, the company showed up on time at the storage space with 6 men, which I thought was great! When the men started packing, the driver DEMANDED an extra $1100 immediately, because he said the move was larger than what he was quoted and he also wanted money for gas. What was I going to do? I felt like the storage facility scheduled my move, the movers where there and I needed my things. I caved in and paid the driver the $1100 plus $50 per mover in tips which totaled $300. December 14, I called TDY to verify that my things were going to arrive the next day. A man named Alan spoke at me and told me that my things were still in NY! He told me that the contract says that the earliest I could receive my things was the 15th and that that is when they legally have up to 14 days to send my things. I have emails with their salesperson Chenee, where I clearly stated that I needed my things on December 15th, 2015. It is documented! After 2 days of sleeping on the floor with herniated discs, I called Alan to beg him for my things and he told me that I should have my things late the next week, possibly for Christmas, but that he couldn't tell me until the truck was on the road. Alan was very rude and you could tell that this was an everyday way of doing business at TDY. On Sunday the 20th, late in the evening, I received a call from a driver who told me that he was going to deliver my things the next morning at 9am!! I couldn't believe it! I scrambled to contact my new leasing management company to reserve the elevator. I had to reach them on the emergency line to get things in order and they accommodated me and had scheduled building employees to come in early to put padding in the elevator. Once I finally got everything in order, I called the driver back to confirm that everything was ready for his arrival and I told him that I reserved the elevator from 9-11am which is what the standard allotted time is in a condo building. The driver started yelling at me telling me saying that he was in Georgia and still had 600 miles to drive! He told me to change the hour to 11am and that it would take ALL DAY to move in, because there were ONLY TWO movers! The next morning the movers showed up in a 53- foot, 18 wheel semi! This truck did not fit on the back street and it had to be parked on Sunrise Blvd at the BUS STOP, which was also a construction site that day, because the city was installing a traffic light. The BLVD was the only street that would fit a truck that takes up HALF OF A CITY BLOCK! The driver fought with the manager of the building, the super and several other employees who told him that he couldn't block an entire exit of a street, because it was a fire hazard. After yelling "Don't F**CK with me and a lot of other profanity, he parked the truck and opened the trunk. It was the belief of several employees here that he was high on something, because he was so aggressive and his behavior was so erratic. When I realized that the driver was one of the movers and that he was wearing flip- flops, I asked him if he was going to move my things in flip -flops. This is, in our experience, a very professional operation. The movers were very pleasant, came on time, actually early, worked very skillfully and quickly, and completed our city to city move in a single day. They were very efficient on both ends of the move, and Angi was excellent on staying in touch with us about the details of the move. The price was very reasonable and the only surprise was the suggestion of a 20% tip/mover to be given at the conclusion of the move. I would have preferred to know that upfront. The movers demanded a tip when they showed up at my apt in Brooklyn; rude and unprofessional. When my stuff didn't arrive on time (midwest), the owner (Mike) was a condescending prick and kept me on the phone for a 1/2 hr while he lectured about his business. For the next three weeks I never got a straight answer on when my stuff would arrive. When it finally did (two weeks later than what I was told by multiple TDY employees), the movers didn't know they had a $24k piano on the truck (improperly packed & damaged) & had to call another moving company to get it off of their truck. I'm awaiting a technician to give an estimate, which will cost $ out of pocket (that I don't have bc I can't run my business without a working piano), and then I get to deal with the claims company that Mike uses; Anthem Claims (look them up). Unfortunately, we did not have the best moving experience with this company at first. We had a pretty simple move from a small storage to an apartment, both in Brooklyn. The staff we spoke to on the phone were helpful, but our main issue was with one of the movers. My wife was mainly dealing with him because I was at work, and she informed me that he was extremely rude to her the whole time. At one point, I was on the phone with her I could hear the way he was speaking to her and being disrespectful for no reason at all. To make a long story short, I called the company to speak with a supervisor or manager. The owner personally called my wife the following day. He seemed very genuine and was not happy with the way his company was represented. He stated that the mover we dealt with no longer will represent the company. The owner truly apologized and has even refunded us a portion of our payment. It seemed as if this experience was just a fluke and should not represent what the company actually stands for. The staff at TDY Moving were great, from the movers to the receptionist. We had Adam come give us an estimate beforehand, which I thought was smart. He was clear about the expectations and services. The movers who showed up were friendly and professional. It ended up being a bigger/longer move, but still worth the money The movers were faced with some challenges as we still have painters and other contractors in our new apartment. They worked around the other crew without complaint. Afterwards, they were not in a hurry to retrieve the blankets that they had used to cover the furniture. Once we unpacked everything, some one from the company came by to pick up the blankets. I guess the only issue I had was that the estimate was half what we actually paid. READ ALL - Very important!!! Horrible company! Hi, I first must admit that I read reviews with a "grain of salt". I read the reviews for TDY and majority were good so I took a chance but they must of doctored some of those reviews because believe me they are far from that good! 1st, they showed up 2 hours late due to someone who called in sick ( which they should make better provisions for since it is not my problem). I reserved the elevator in my building for 2 hours for a 1 hour move out, one our travel (only 30 minutes away) to destination and 1 hour move in. They also had to go underneath a bridge which they circled around and ended up going under cause they couldn't estimate the height! The guys were very nice and one of them was particularly great and the other a bit like can't be bothered to much... but nice. They backed up the whole building of others who were moving and reserved the elevator which meant they had to share it which made them more late! I scheduled the move to be completed from 10am to 1pm before the kids get home from school since one is a special needs child and all 3 are 10 and younger ( the special needs child was bumped in the head by the lazy mover). 2nd, they were rushing from the building pressure wanting them out fast and they were not prepared with tools to disassemble the bed and then reassemble the bed at destination which made them even later waiting around for the building staff to provide them with some tools close to what they needed. 3rd, in my quote was to be included 3 wardrobe boxes to be GIVEN to me so I planned to store clothes in there and they dumped my clothes and left with the boxes. 4th, I had rented a car for 4 hours to drive up with them and bring additional stuff which I had to extend for 2 more hours due to their tardiness. I gave ample cushion of time for the move before the kids get home from school at 3 and 2 hours for the move out elevator. They did give me a flat rate for their travel time which is understandable since they came from Brooklyn and wanted the business. 5th, since they had not tools to assemble the bed and the car was due back at the rental near my original building and the kids were home, I told them to please just put everything inside and leave. They just dumped heavy boxes everywhere not even stacked to the side or organized and damaged my coffee table. They were still there an hour after I left them to just put everything inside and oh by the way with a rental truck not a company truck. 6th, they took my masking tape (but ok) and my blanket to wrap the tv in for storage! When I spoke to the manager and owner they insisted that it ended up being a 5 hour job which was not my fault and that they were doing me a favor by not charging me and reimbursing me $138.00 dollars. The original quote was a great $420.00 plus 80.00 tip and 30 tolls (which I was not told about). In addition THEY were so late that I told them they didn't have to wrap two coushioned sectional sofa chair size (very small West Elm studio apartment sized sofa) and I am not sure if that was the cause of the hole they put in the apartment closet door but they were rushing due to being late! I was so careful to spackle and care for the apartment so I would get my security back but the closet cost me 300.00! Keep in mind!... they say they are only responsible for the personal property not the apartment or house!!! Which they damaged my coffee table anyway and left more work for me to move in then to move out!!! The manager insisted that most of this was my fault or a favor from them!!! There were other things as well like the driver saying that he is not usually in charge of this stuff including paperwork. I gave the moving company ample time to rectify the situation and I even told them that they may be to far to make it in time and wouldn't be able to do the job properly but they assured me and gave me a good quote. In the end I could of payed 7-800 for a proper moving company closer which it ended up costing me anyway! They refuse to do anymore for a half-as*ed job! They didn't even complete the move as was a basic part of the job because of no tools, being late and unprepared! Don't use them - believe me everything I say is true and accurate. I am in marketing and understand service to the client and customer service. I was patient and tried not to be to unfair because I know it can be stressful and things happen but this was unacceptable!!! I packed everything with lots of bubble wrap and foam all they had to do was move mostly boxes on a dolly and very little furniture! I told my building to send out a memo to all three 10+ story buildings not to use them! And for the first time I am actually writing a review! Like I said I understand a few hiccups but some of these incidences were completely unacceptable and they did very little to rectify the situation. It cost me much more. They took on a move that was complicated (it involved a pick-up, short-term storage, and then a delivery) and highly stressful for me and handled it perfectly. Where do I even start. First of all, I called them with what has to be moved and the company gave me a price over the phone without seeing. First clue that I missed. I then corrected the quantity of boxes the following day and they raised the anti another $200. Fair enough. After the truck was loaded they claimed the markers on the truck floor bed indicated even more cubic feet and the price then escalated another $800. When I asked to look in the truck I was refused. Did I mention that when I called up to enquire about the driver's billing, they added another $100 bucks because they said he made a mistake. Did I mention that I needed the items moved quickly to Chicago and when I first called they stated "your in luck" we had a cancellation and we can get you on the truck going west immediately. That was Monday and they picked up the load the next day on Tuesday afternoon where it proceeded to rest in NYC for 10 days. Yep, I was really lucky that they had a cancellation. Did I mention the conversation with the driver and his crew. The first words out of his mouth was what they expected as a tip. He said it's customary to leave a 10-20% of the moving bill as a tip. So, since what started out at $2700 and leveling off at approx. $3800 they were expecting a tip anywhere between $380 - $$760 bucks. When I explained to him that this load of furniture was my son's house and I didn't have that kind of cash on me, he said I'm sure you can figure out a way to get tip money. Even suggesting I write him a check and he would split it with the crew. Finally, after they were finished loading and only when they were finished loading, and I signed off, they handed me a sheet of paper with their additional rules for the destination address in Chicago. Which included, the additional cost per foot if the crew had to walk a certain number of feet to the front door. Additional cost for landings in an apartment building. Additional cost if their truck was to big for the street and they had to unload to a smaller truck. Perhaps I should have been more curious on why they demand final payment in cash before they unload the truck. I'm chalking this up to one bad experience, with an unreputable company. They are in the same category as Aluminum siding and used car salesman. It's going to take a long time to get the bad taste out of my mouth. read more

IF YOU THiNK USING THIS COMPANY FOR MOVE PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how this business gets 5 stars review yet but I want to share what have this business done to me!! I've booked a moving with TDY moving company on march 2014 for moving from Astoria , NY to Fort Collins , CO in mid August. Till I booked and paid my deposit (100) everything was smooth and very nice that I though I finally find the moving comp and my moving stress became lighter. But when I called them for fallow up! Everything changed !!!! What I've found was that they have fired The dealer who made this deal with me. Than I asked them if everything is still ok with my booked deal and who will be my rep? They have said that the deal that the company have made isn't going to happen and when I asked what would be the reason they said that whoever made the deal has been fired because he made the deal that price is not enough for the company !!!!! And they said that they cancelled my move and they will send my deposit back to me ! When I asked to talk who ever is in charge of the company the answer that I got is the BOSS doesn't want to talk to me about it!!! And it has been a week that they neither send my deposit back or an apology or nothing as a curtesy. So I wonder how can I trust any other moving company ????? I can't say enough abut Mike and his company. TDY is one of the best moving companies I've ever used. My home closing was delayed and we finally closed yesterday. my closing dates kept changing and I could not book a moving company in advance. I called numerous companies for last minute bookings and many could not give me an appt today. Mike's team was able to squeeze me in at the very last minute even though they were booked solid. Now what makes this company stand apart from others is the owner/manager himself. Mike actually came to my home all the way from Manhattan to Staten Island on his motorcyle! He went through my items and gave recommendations to my husband to reduce our costs. He recommended how to wrap certain things so we wouldn't damage our stuff. His customer service skills are amazing. He's a really good guy and was working hard to help us. His guys were really good too! Hard workers! Never took a break!! They did my move in 3 hours!!! I used another moving company recently and no joke the guys disappeared for an hour and it took them almost double the time do the same move. (Yes, unfortunately I had to do a double move).
