Found this place because I was looking for a bathroom (oh, the joys of traveling the boroughs) and figured grabbing some tea wouldn't hurt. It seems to be family owned and operated, which is cool, and my matcha was decent, if not great. Came here after having dinner at one of the local Thai restaurants around the corner because I was looking for a cafe with desserts. Unfortunately, like many Asian cafes, they only accept cash. So I ended up getting a latte which was good and cheap. It is very cozy and intimate inside with lots of dessert and snack options. They have bubble teas and other espresso drinks as well. My cousin was the first one to order, I don't remember what it was but it was sold out, the woman on the counter answered very short, unfriendly, and aggressive "No more. Sold out." Then I ordered the Strawberry, Banana, & Nutella crepes with a scoop of ice cream. I had initially asked them if they are able to remove the strawberry, she assured me that she can. Then I asked if they had green tea ice cream, she answered the same way very short, unfriendly, and in a very aggressive way. "No green tea. Only vanilla." I said okay vanilla it is, then I ordered the taro milk tea no bubble. She confirmed with me 3 times that I wanted no bubble. As we were driving, we found out that there were strawberries in the crepes and bubble in the milk tea. I have been eating there since their noodle soup was $7.50. Their noodle soup is really good and the price is not bad. But what really bad is the customer service of the waiter guy and the short girl who work in the kitchen. My girlfriend and I went there for dinner tonight and we took the seat all the way at the corner because the weather is 30*C. Then that waiter guy asked us to move to another table near the exit because he has to open basement. Although it is not in our way, we moved to that table. The seat is really cold because there is a gap between the slide door and it's is so close to my seat. So we moved to another table up. Then he said we can't sit there cuz it's for 4 people. So I told him, the seat near the exit is really cold and also 4 people can sit there, too. Then he changed his reason to COVID, that is why the middle table cannot be occupied. (If you have been there, you will know how they lay out the table and seat) 2 set of tables for 2 people and 3 sets of tables for 4 people. He already fold up one set for 2 people to open basement and the other one has customers. There are only two customers including us in the restaurant and he is making a big deal and complicated. So we ate our noodle soup in that cold seat with our puffy jacket on. While we were eating, customers were going in and out ordering to-go at the counter. After having the noodle soup, my girlfriend want to order Crispy Fish Ball to-go. At that moment, the super genius waiter guy is not in the store. So she went to the counter as usual to order. Then that short girl in the kitchen told her that the order has to go through that waiter guy. My girlfriend said she want to pay separately and we were here yesterday and ordered just like that and so does the other. The girl kept repeating that which pissed my girlfriend off. So we end up not ordering Crispy Fish Ball. My point is if they gonna do every order through the waiter, then apply to every customer. I wonder are they just doing that to non-Thai customers? Stumbled upon this little hidden cafe when deciding what to eat for a quick bite. It's a small restaurant but not too busy at once so I didn't experience any wait time to get seated. You order and pay at the counter. Pick a seat and your food will be brought out to you. We ordered the regular sized tom yum noodle soup and pork intestine soup with a side of rice. I got mild spice for tom yum and was sweating bullets by the time I finished my bowl which was not that large. If you don't handle tangy spice well, opt for the pork noodle soup or pork intestine soup which are also great choices. The soup base alone will not disappoint. If you eat like you've been starved for days, go with the large size unless you wish to leave room for dessert. The toast with pandan is so good! For the longest time this place was covered in scaffolding and I had no idea what it was called. Otherwise I'd have reviewed it way earlier! Especially now that the scaffolding is long gone, this place is super cute. Frequented by locals, including myself, Tea Cup Cafe has a wide variety of sweets with which to get your sugar fix, including cakes, cupcakes, brownies, crepes, ice creams, and more. I forget what it's called, but the special drink with red bean, tapioca bubbles, and whipped cream is soooooo good. The coffee's tasty, too. Throughout the winter my boyfriend and I would stop in here regularly for the literal and figurative warmth of the toasty interior and friendly staff. Well, We came here for Coffee after having brunch across the street. They unfortunately didn't serve hot coffee there so we ended up here. Was surprise to see the group of people having brunch at the same place having coffee here too....The Steam/Buffet place should include hot coffee & hot tea on their menu so their customers are "captured) not end up going across the street for a coffee fix. It's located on a quiet and mostly residential neighborhood in Jackson Heights, but there are a handful of Thai restaurants within the area, and I assume a lot of business also comes from Elmhurst Hospital which is nearby as well. I stopped by one hot afternoon and tried their iced ovaltine drink which wasn't too impressive. I mean once you've had Kung Fu Tea's version, nothing else compares. However, to their credit, they do have a lot of other hot and cold drinks on the menu, as well as a table full of pre-packaged, ready to-go food items both sweet & savory. They all seemed pretty delicious and most comes with rice. The setting is really nice and airy and overall this cafe is a nice addition to the area. read more

i have been coming to tea cup for shaved ice for more than 7 years since they only sell desert. It has always been a nice experience when it was run by the owner and his daughter. Me and my friends total 4 people went there 2 weeks ago to get shaved ice after dinner at the near by restaurant. The shop was almost empty and no one was sitting in their outdoor seating area. Upon arriving, we were asked if we are getting only desert and there is a minimum: since most of their deserts are between $5 to $8, we thought it'll be ok to order one desert each. After sitting down, the waitress came to our table with major attitude to get our orders. We said we will get one shaved ice each and she basically told us she can't serve us because we don't spend $20 each. Normally I would be ok but all their waitresses working there have attitude problem and when we told them we will give them bad reviews because the store was empty and she didn't have to be rude. Two waitresses just shrug it off and rolled their eyes and one of them said under her breath go ahead give us bad reviews. I was so mad I asked for the owner. He wasn't there. One of my friend also went there again today and he said the waitress gave him an attitude for giving her some pennies. I will be calling the owner to complain because I love their desert and I would love to see their business thrive.
