I got the 24oz Creme brûlée with boba (4.5/5 stars) for $8. It was good, and I'd get it again, but it was a bit overpriced for the size in my opinion, and a lot of their options were non-boba flavors I wasn't interested in, like cheese foam or coconut pudding. I think I'd probably do Boba Guys if/when I'm in San Carlos again. Staff was kind and service was fast at 7:15pm on a weeknight, the restaurant seemed clean and modern although not the nicest.

    Strawberry matcha latte

Tried this place and their drinks are good! I like that they have decaffeinated options and my 9 year old son is able to get his boba with me. We got the black sugar boba and strawberry matcha latte. The strawberry purée had real strawberries and they used Strauss milk. They use good quality ingredients. We enjoyed the drinks and it was a nice day to hangout outside.

I stopped by on a weekday afternoon. The place was not busy. Coco mango was my favorite drink here. Rice mochi taro milk tea was also really good. Their new cup looks nice, but are no longer transparent.

I got the black milk tea with boba with 25% sugar and no ice. It was pretty good but the tea flavor was almost a little bit burnt/bitter tasting. It was a good amount of sweetness and the boba texture was good. A lot of folks were ordering the fruit based drinks so I'd try that next time.

Everyone makes the drinks fine here. As someone who comes here once a week, the male staff actually fill the drinks to the top unlike the female staff who don't.

Oreo matcha Extra Thick Taro N Milk

Extra thick taro n milk -cold 240z -light ice -Recommended (sweetness) -recommended dairy -absolutely perfect. The taro doesn't taste artificial and is truly thick. The sweetness of the drink itself was also perfect. The taro balls in there are slightly too sweet on their own but the taro milk does balance it out a little bit. Oreo matcha - recommended (sweetness) -oat milk -16 oz ice -the recommended option for sweetness here was perfect as well. I noticed that they hand whisked the matcha and that it was slightly bitter. I also appreciate that it didn't cost more to replace the milk with oat milk. We used the kiosk to order so there's not much I can say about service. The ambiance is nice as well. Very clean

Get their pomelo tea it's the best! I get no sweet, it's becoming my favorite drink on this block!

Tea Hut is a cozy tea shop located in downtown San Carlos. Parking can be a bit sparse, but isn't too hard to find. The part of the street it is located on is blocked off, so just be aware in case of mobility issue. Service was fast, but the person who prepared and gave us our drinks wasn't super friendly. However, makes sense because it seemed like they were the only person working and were probably locked in on making the drinks. The drinks were good! I really enjoyed my osmathus oolong.

The rice mochi taro milk tea is amazing and such a good drink idea! I love mochi in drinks! 50% sweetness was perfect and it's a good size! Service was quick and the inside is simple but spacious. I'll be back again for this drink!!

I use to really like this place but lately its service and products have gone downhill. Twice now on separate occasions I went in, ordered my drink and it comes out completely wrong!! I even told the guy twice no boba!!! Today I should have been smart enter check but unfortunately I've realized till I got home. Which makes it pretty frustrating that it's drink I dint even want to drink now. When things like this happen makes me not want to go back.

I usually stop here when in Downtown San Carlos and I am usually pretty happy with it, the boba is usually pretty good and consistent. They do get busy and you order on a kiosk vs actually having someone take your order so its not super personal but there are usually only 2-3 people working so it works out. I will always go back for a good consistent milk tea I can count on.

    Mochi Soy Milk Tea
    Maggie W.

I've been to the Tea Hut location in Millbrae, and I was excited to see that there's a location closer to me in San Carlos! I ordered my usual soy milk tea with pearls and mochi, but the mochi was SO hard and the drink was a tad watery/didn't have a strong tea flavor, especially after mixing the foam into the drink to make it creamier. I ended up just tossing the mochi away since it was incredibly dissatisfying. The pearls here are very qq and have a good texture, they also are very generous with the portion given.

The strawberry oolong tea is my favorite, the actual tea still pulls through and boba is nice and chewy. Also like to get agar boba if I want something different

The taro was sour, the milk is not real milk. Worst milk tea ever. The fruit tea is bad too.

Ask the Community - Tea Hut

What is the difference between traditional and recommended dairy when choosing the milk options?

Traditional milk tea uses creamer powder to achieve a milky and creamy flavor, while the recommended dairy option primarily uses whole milk.

The hubby decided to have the queso ice cream in a cup and I had the creminieve, it was fresh strawberries with 2 scoops of ice cream (you can choose what flavor ice cream, but I think it's best with the strawberry ice cream) and topped with cream, it was DELICIOUS I finished the whole thing! I got an iced HK style coffee + milk tea which I've never had before but was so delicious. I'd definitely come back to try the other fruity drinks too! we ordered the tom yum noodles, preserved vegetables & pork noodle soup, salt & pepper fries, and the HK style french toast with peanut butter. the french toast was our favorite- it was fluffy and chewy and was just like the HK classic. the noodle dishes were both so hearty and flavorful too, and the portions were a good size. it did take a bit long for everything to come out, but it did seem like there was only one person working and she was very kind and accommodating when we had questions about our order. we didn't mind at all, especially sitting outside and enjoying the view! overall, I'll for sure be back for the drinks and to try some other HK style street food.

I ordered the lemongrass pork jaw rice. There were only about six pieces of meat, and the lemongrass was chopped into very tiny pieces and mixed into the sauce. The problem was that the lemongrass was extremely tough, almost like small pieces of tree branches, and impossible to chew. I had to spit them out, but because they were chopped so finely and mixed throughout the sauce and meat, it was very difficult to eat. If this is how they prepare the dish, they should reconsider the way they cook and serve lemongrass dishes--or consider removing this dish from the menu. I also waited about 30 minutes for my food. After such a long wait, I expected the food to at least arrive hot, but it was already cold. It seemed like the food had been sitting in the kitchen for a while because there weren't enough staff to bring it out to customers. The table service and cleanliness were also disappointing. There were no staff available to clean the tables, and I actually saw customers moving previous customers' dirty plates to one side and wiping the table themselves. Our table was also extremely sticky. The restaurant really needs to review its food delivery process. Instead of having staff run around the dining area trying to find the right table number, they could simply have customers pick up their food using an order number. This would probably make the process much faster and more organized. Overall, the food was just so-so, the service was slow, and the whole restaurant felt very unorganized. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.
