Teal House is easily one of my favorite places in Austin. Matcha? Coffee? Croissants? Kolaches? They have it all. If you're visiting for the first time, I have to recommend the croissant breakfast sandwich. It's honestly unlike anything I've had before. The buttery, flaky croissant paired with crispy bacon, egg, and melted cheese is an absolute 10/10 and worth coming back for. For drinks, you can't go wrong with the strawberry matcha or the iced salted caramel latte--both are amazing. Beyond the food and drinks, what really makes Teal House special is the people. Everyone is incredibly kind, and they genuinely take the time to get to know their customers and create a welcoming atmosphere. I can't recommend this place enough. I have been eagerly awaiting my visit to Teal House Coffee and Bakery, however, was a bit disappointed with my dining experience. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I ordered a hot latte with hazelnut and initially, a cinnamon roll and raspberry apricot kolache. The latte was flavorful, warm and enjoyable to drink. Based on my server's recommendation, the cinnamon roll was the most popular item. In fact, he said that folks come to Austin just to try this cinnamon roll. He did forewarn me that it was a little salty and he was absolutely correct. The icing felt oily and lacked true cinnamon roll flavor. So, I traded that cinnamon roll in for a Dubai chocolate croissant (paid the difference in price). While the croissant tasted better than the cinnamon roll, the layers were tough and a bit spongy to eat. The kolache's flavor was good and I like the combination of fruit flavors. With that said, the bread was hard...unlike German kolaches. Prices are on the high end of price spectrum. The bakery has both indoor and outdoor seating. The teal color emits a Zen feel. read more

Today I visited Teal House Coffee after a long morning at the doctor with a relative, and it ended up being exactly what we needed. We've been trying different coffee shops whenever we pass through Austin for doctor visits, and we got to Teal House just a few minutes before they closed at 2 PM. Usually, when you walk into a place that close to closing, you can tell everyone is ready to wrap up and get out of there. That was not the case here at all. The second I walked in, Sabrina greeted me so kindly, with a smile on her face, and made me feel completely welcome. She was warm, accommodating, and never made me feel rushed or like I was a nuisance, even though I came in right before closing. That alone would have been enough to make a great impression, but the coffee was absolutely delicious too. We also tried the cinnamon roll and chocolate croissant, and both were so good. The inside is inviting, the pastries and coffee are worth stopping for, and the staff made the whole experience feel genuinely welcoming. I can't recommend Teal House Coffee enough, and if management reads these reviews, Sabrina made what had been a long, stressful day feel a little lighter just by being kind, which, after two decades in the restaurant industry, I can honestly say is rare to find in someone so naturally attentive and welcoming, give her a raise. read more

I really like teal house! I came here to pick up a drink for my mom and some pastries I wanted to try. My mom likes peach drinks and breve lattes so I asked if they could make her something off menu like this, and they literally made her an iced peach breve latte! They were really sweet about it too. I also got a blueberry/lemon kolache and a guava kolache because I like trying unique flavors. They were both delicious but especially the blueberry! They have normal cafe food too, but even just trying these things both me and my mom were very happy. It's a well lit place too with plenty of tables inside and some modest parking in the small lot outside, so it's a nice place to sit and hang out in the mornings (do note they close in the early afternoon though so you can't hang around all day/go in the evening). Dubai pastries were solid. Very sweet, but good! They had high chairs which is always a plus with multiple babies. Lots of windows and everyone was so friendly Open on thanksgiving day which I was very grateful for. The chocolate croissant and almond croissant were good, but it felt like they had a cookie in the center and that the top 1/2 was pretty dry. Was staying by an Airbnb that was close by and came here for coffee and tacos. I was surprised to see all the amazing looking pastries in their glass cases. They were quite large so I didn't get one but I did order a potato egg and cheese taco and a plain hot latte. The latte was great! Was pleasantly surprised that the tacos were made in house albeit it was quite pricey at $5. The eggs or potatoes had too much cooking grease unfortunately. Their green salsa was tasty and spicy! Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the inside of the brisket kolach, but it was disappointing. The meat tasted like it had been boiled rather than smoked, with almost no depth of flavor. Definitely not what you expect from brisket, especially at that price point (5.99). Not worth the calories and the money. The sausage kolach wasn't much better. The sausage was on the firmer, drier side instead of juicy and flavorful. I've had much better elsewhere. Stopped into Teal House for breakfast over the weekend and grabbed an assortment of pastries and iced matcha. When my husband and I were looking at the display, the gentleman behind the counter said they were known for their cinnamon rolls so that was an instant purchase, but we were sadly let down once we got home and ate it. Came here while staying in Austin. It was a small distance away from our hotel so we walked here. It it a cute little coffee shop with lots of options for breakfast and it also has lots of pastries, known for their cinnamon rolls. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a butter scotch iced coffee and my husband ordered a flat white and avocado toast. His avocado toast was okay he wasn't to happy with the balsamic vinegar this early in the morning. My breakfast sandwich was pretty good especially since it was on a delicious croissant and I also liked the green salsa that was on it. My coffee was pretty good. Both the Americano and Iced Latte is what you'd expect, but the Croissants were surprisingly really good. I haven't had such flaky and crunchy croissants in Austin until I came here. Thursday 7/25/2024 I originally came across this spot from Reddit when I was searching for "best cinnamon rolls in Austin" so I had to find out for myself. The service was pretty good: the worker was friendly and very helpful with explaining the items. I got the sausage kolache $4.50, cinnamon roll $4.55, and the andi crossiant (cinnamon roll) $5.25. - The sausage kolache was my first time experiencing a kolache (which is a Texas staple) and it was actually pretty decent. - The cinnamon roll was regarded as "the best cinnamon roll in Austin" by the worker and I have to respectfully disagree. The cinnamon roll was decent but definitely not the best I've had in Austin. - The crossiant cinnamon roll wasn't fully what I was expecting (I was more so expecting a textbook cinnamon roll with crossiant breading) but I ain't mad it. It has a nice crispy crossiant texture but I'd say it's probably a 7.3/10 for me. All in all, Teal house was a solid experience that I would be open to returning to and I would recommend it if you're in the mood for a kolache or cinnamon roll. read more

Unfortunately they didn't have the andi croissant which is what I wanted, but the chocolate one was so good I didn't even miss it. The shop was cute and there were quite a few people there. The coffee was good, not as strong as my friend would've liked but definitely good for the average customer. My friend definitely liked the croissant more than the carrot cake muffin, but it was still good. The only apprehension in giving this place 5 stars was that the cashier was rude. I thought maybe he was just having a bad day, but he seemed fine aside from when he took our orders. Superb coffee & light chocolate highlighted, but no bitter or sour can through. My girlfriend had a cappuccino and she also rated it among the best in Austin. Could it be the be the blond haired, 5 foot, tattooed barista? Maybe. Whatever it was, it worked. We also had the breakfast sandwich and a few brisket kolaches. The kolaches have always been a favorite, but today they were a bit tough to chew. With some peppery BBQ sauce they were still a draw, but I do hope they return to their method that produced fluffier dough. The croissant breakfast sandwich I still enjoyed. I would have liked another half tablespoon of the spicy green sauce, but aside from that, the crispy croissant provided a satisfying crunch around the egg and bacon that I'll still seek out a couple weekends per month. read more
