Came here on a weekday, usually I'm not a type of person who likes to write a long review, so I'm just gonna get to the point why I think this place needs some improvement. - there was no line when they took my order, but my order was a little messed up: I ordered 2 large Hokkaido Milk Tea, both less ice, and I used yelp for the free upgrade, and the other one I paid extra to make it large. - the drinks came with different sizes, so I figured one is correct (Large), but the other one is regular size, so I asked the staff to fix my drink. They grabbed my drink, and what I saw next was beyond my expectation. They took my cup, and ADDED MORE ICE into larger cup then gave it back to me. I tried to measure ice level next to the other drink, and yes, now the new one has almost half the cup of ice level. I mentioned in the notes on my online order that I had a yelp check in for a free upgrade but I don't think they saw that....and the drink was already made when I arrived so I didn't bother mentioning it since I didn't want them to waste another container. They have a little set up at the front too so you don't enter their shop, they will bring the drink to you so there's minimal contact. I ordered the Matcha Bandera with almond milk (yay for dairy alternatives). It was delicious- it had 3 layers- matcha, almond milk and pureed strawberries. I came here on a Thursday evening and it was pretty much full. My order was taken by a nice cashier. I got an almond milk tea with almond milk, no ice and half sweet. You can customize the ice, sugar, and change from their milk base to almond milk. Toppings additional like pudding and boba. It was made quickly and correctly. Even at half sweet, it tasted a regular sweetness to me and was a good amount. I can only imagine full sweet. They also don't use fresh fruits for their fruit teas. WiFi was a good speed. The drink was tasty, you can tell the matcha is high quality which I appreciate. Loved the design of the shop, interesting layout being connected to a vintage shop. It was a bit warm inside but it was very lively lots of groups sitting on their laptops or enjoying their drinks. They have a bar looking out the window with a beautiful view of the street and train, and a couple of other cozy tables. They did only have a small food menu at the checkout counter which I missed until the end, but after looking at the menu online I will definitely be coming back to try some food too! read more

After my first visits unfortunately this place is no longer up to my standards, I wrote and incredible review due to the staff member that assisted me was fantastic and made this place seem very very homey and that I was welcomed I had no issues with talking/brining things up since the person who took my order clearly cared about their job I've come here 3 times after my initial review, and with utmost apologies to people that read my review and went there, I'm taking it back The staff have been nothing but rude, not in the mean way but they don't care about their jobs, they take long times and when you ask they give attitude, this last visit I was ignored and the music was loud on another visit The quality of the drinks have gone down exponentially, and i didn't feel welcome at all. I'm trying to remember if I got a mango green tea or a peach green tea but either way my drink was BOMB. I came in thirsty and looking for something refreshing. I asked the cashier what she recommended and she gave me a ton of recommendations for popular drinks. I ordered a mango/peach green tea iced regular sweetness in the largest size they had. I waited a couple minutes and noticed the man was making my tea not pouring it from some random liquid container that had been there for hours. I was jumping for joy (on the inside of course). He called my name and I walked up to grab my drink. As I grabbed my drink he told me to taste it first and if I didn't like it to let him know. I took a sip and was immediately refreshed. I could taste the tea leaves, the fruit flavor, and the sweetness all balanced to make an incredibly refreshing drink. I was pleased and let him know I liked my drink. The service was very friendly and the fact he checked to make sure I liked my drink made a big impression on me. I'm glad I walked in to check this place out. Stumbled upon this place on my way off the metro gold line at Mission St. just a few steps away. Didn't expect to find authentic Taiwanese cuisine in this part of town because I was making my way to San Gabriel/Alhambra for it. Checked out their menu, got the House Spicy Zha Jiang Mian which had the option for a vegetarian version and levels of spice. Had a seat by the window, overlooking south Pasadena with this yummy noodle dish, a sweet old school Mariah Carey playlist going, free WiFi and plenty of outlets if I felt like pulling out my laptop to do work. I want to like this place, but they've gotten my order wrong twice, the service is slow, and the drinks are meh. Most recently I tried the Heart of the Ocean lemonade, which looked nothing like the image on their web menu (where's the blue?!) The flavor was very watery, and, to top that off, the lid was dirty! This place has everything: boba, food, and a very nice atmosphere for casual studying/reading or hanging out with friends. I've come here a couple times and I've gotten the zha jiang mian, the pork and chive dumplings, the scallion pancakes, and the tea eggs. I've also tried the curry and the beef noodle soup when I came here with my boyfriend and he ordered it :P The food is overall pretty solid, considering how it's the only Taiwanese place on the street. I loved the pork and chive dumplings, but I love dumplings in general. That is probably my go to item at this place. The food tastes a little more fusion than authentic Taiwanese, and they have an interesting salad dressing that I would probably put on the side next time - not quite sure what it is.
