Meeting a new friend and she had suggested teapiocia. Never been there I decided to do my own research beforehand to figure out what I may want. They have tons of options and can be honestly a little overwhelming. I decide on black lychee tea with pearls. Wow I can honestly say what a great non alcoholic drink. First off lychee I discovered during my travels in Thailand. It is a very sweet fruit and if chocolate left this world I would be eating lychee everyday for comfort. The pearls are like chewy gummies that are good but honestly not for everyone. Especially people with food texture issues. Nobody was able to social distance and some of the customers inside weren't wearing masks. I didn't expect much from Teapioca Lounge, because I've been to one in OKC and hated it every time I visited it. So naturally, I assumed all Teapioca Lounges were the same, and steered clear of this one until I kept reading all the raving 5 star reviews. You convinced me, Yelpers! And it was very surprisingly NOT a disappointment! Their drinks here are really, really good. My boyfriend got the pina colada smoothie, and I got the black milk tea (my standard for comparing boba shops) and even though I enjoyed my drink, his was soooo good. I'm not a huge pina colada fan but even I was stealing sips! The black milk tea is creamy, the boba consistency is legit, and I basically drank the whole drink in probably 7 minutes flat. After ordering 2 items and waiting 15 minutes for our drinks, I was informed that the cashier did not charge me correctly. The teenager who claimed to be the manager (CASSIE), rudely told my 66 year old mother and I "WELL YOU DIDNT PAY FOR IT SO GO BACK OVER THERE AND PAY". She was so rude that the entire store stood and stared as she laughed at my mom. My mom asked why she was laughing and she had no answer. Started going here during the lockdown. This place has great tea and a wide variety. All the toppings you could ever ask for too! Not only do they have the regular tea and milk tea, smoothie, slushie, and coffee varieties, but they include puerh tea and white tea varieties that I don't typically find elsewhere in boba places. I usually get some type of lighter tea like chrysanthemum, but recently I ordered carrot-orange juice and it still exceeds my expectations. Teapioca Lounge was great when I first started going because we liked to go with a group of friends to hang out and try new smoothies with tapioca or the snowy ice cream. They made some changes to adapt to the pandemic, so although it's no longer a lounge, they still have their awesome drinks to try, and even when the line looks long, it moves pretty fast. I enjoy ordering online and picking up, but it's not always available. I still need to figure out if it's at certain times that is offered. I've also started enjoying their macaroons. My son loves them as well. We tend to go with a Taro smoothie with tapioca or a taro cream blast, and enjoy trying different macaroons each time we go. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE LACTOSE INTOLERANT OR VEGAN. I recently had a drink here (Taro Cream Blast) that I was reassured did not have lactose. I trusted them at their word and had the drink. That night I got extremely sick--I will spare the gruesome details but the point is that I only get sick in this exact way when I have a lot of lactose. They provided details about their so called dairy-free plant based creamer--it is neither of those things. It contains a milk protein (so NOT vegan friendly) and though they are allowed to label it as 'lactose free,' researching the milk protein brings up results that they usually do still contain some level of lactose. There is also a chance the employee that prepared my drink was negligent and somehow put milk in my drink instead of the creamer, but the fact stands that there was enough lactose in my drink that I got extremely sick since I had the drink in a way that I only get when I have too much lactose. It has been 2 days but I am still experiencing symptoms, it is very bad. Lesson learned, do not trust Teapioca's "plant based dairy free creamer." If you want a tea shop that has never done me wrong like this, I recommend Gongcha. Their drinks have proper substitutes and have never made me sick. I will attach the details of the creamer with photos provided by the employees. If you look up 'sodium caseinate,' you will find that it is a milk protein and that it is not completely lactose free as the product claims. There is enough lactose in it that I got sick as a lactose intolerant person, or the employee used milk instead of creamer in my drink even though explicitly told I did not want lactose in my drink. People who have lactose intolerance know that you get sick in a specific way when having lactose, and I had those exact symptoms very quickly after drinking this. Be careful about this tea shop. I won't be coming back. read more

Decided to go to Austin for a short vacation! First stop: Boba! After yelping some places, we decided to check this place out first. It's located a little outside downtown Austin out in the suburbs. My girlfriend and I decided to just share a boba drink because we didn't want to end up with 2 if it turned out bad. We just got the classic milk tea with mini boba! I haven't had mini boba since back in California! They're a rarity, but I love mini-boba! The milk tea was decently good, but boba wasn't as chewy as I usually like it. Price is pretty comparable to other bubble drink places. A great perk to the location is that it's in the middle of a shopping center and is perfect for a drink break. We have come here a handful of times now, i would say that I haven't been disappointed with this place at all! If you're looking for a nice place to study or just to hang out for a little while this is definitely the place to go! They also have games and such and a great loyalty program (if you come here often- which we seem to!) Then a couple weekends ago, on a Saturday at 3pm, you run out of tapioca. Again. It's a 30 minute wait till the next batch is ready. After I waited 10 minutes in line? Or do I just get a regular tea? (That's dumb. I have regular non-tapioca tea at home. 15 minutes from where I just drove.) Then tonight, a Friday night at 8:45?! You run out of pearls again?! Another 30 minute wait?! The name of this friggin' place is "TEAPIOCA"!!!!!! How do you repeatedly run out of the title ingredient to your establishment?? It's peak hours, the middle of June, on a Friday night. You overlap batches, right?! Been let down by this place too many times. How hard it is to maintain tapioca pearls to make sure you have enough??? Apparently it's more difficult than I realize. This place is really popular, and I can see why! There was a line to the door on a Sunday at 4pm--what?! LOL... my husband loved his lavender green tea (he said he felt like he was taking a bath!), and mentioned the tapioca itself is soft and chewy, the way it's supposed to be. My matcha cream tea was ok--I could taste the powder, and I thought it would've come as a liquid. Instead, it was more like an icy smoothie. Looking like I had just entered into the land of the lost, the nice girl behind the counter offered me some samples of the Boba (pearls) to try out before I ordered. I learned that Boba is not for me. I ended up ordering a cold Green Tea without any Boba or other stuff in it. I use to live in Austin and loved this place. But when it's extremely busy your drink gets messed up. I stopped by here on the way out of town and my drink got completely messed up to the point I couldn't even drink it and just wasted $6. It was 20 mins before closing and at least 30 people in the store waiting on drinks. By the time I realized they added coffee gel to my honeydew drink it was closed. I come here for the consistency of the drinks. Sometimes, some places provide drinks that get a bit watery, melted. If you are health conscious, there are some fresh juices that are available. Otherwise, the taro smoothie is always preferred. The consistency of the boba is always on the harder chewy side. Again, there are some places that provide bottom of the pot boba that are all the way slimy and disintegrate. In general, I wish there was a boba place that had more snacks. Perhaps Teapioca can consider this. Like a Bambu but for South Austin. Ought to try their hot tea options. read more

This is my new obsession ... and guess what ... it's south! Woohoo! Since the first time I discovered them in Southpark Meadows shopping center, every time since then I've had to stop in! It's a cute little lounge spot on the inside. They have some comfortable furniture inside where groups of people can hang out, chill and play games or get on the internet. They do have free wifi here too! My first visit I played it safe and got the frozen strawberry banana with tapioca pearls. It was refreshing and delicious. Next I tried the frozen tropical matcha green tea and then the banana smoothie both with tapioca! Both were all equally as good and refreshing! I love the big fat straws and the chewiness of the tapioca every time! I didn't realize how much I was needing a tapioca place south ... It is perfect! read more

I needed a break from my usual tapioca place for the day and decided to make a morning trip out to Teapioca Lounge with a friend. First of all, the feel here is supposed to be hip and happenin'. I think the bright green walls, the high couches, and the flat-screen tv definitely adds to this. It's certainly not a good place to study and I don't particularly like the ambience, but it's probably a good place to hang out and play board games. Second, their cream tea is pretty solid for the price and quantity, but nothing outstanding. They have about a thousand options of cream teas, slushes, and juices, as well as shaved ice, but I am always apt to judge a place by the quality of their milk tea. Though it's a little on the sweet side - I ordered it with half sugar, and it was still pretty sweet - the cream was not too overwhelming and the taste of the tea was present, but not as strong as I would prefer. They didn't have tapioca this morning, so I got it with baby tapioca and egg pudding - yum. My friend ordered the hot taro cream tea, and it was really creamy and delicious. Granted, it was made with taro powder and probably a lot of sugar, but it was still yummy, and the heat definitely balanced out the sweetness a bit. Teapioca Lounge is not wonderful, but it's definitely a place to get a lot of milk tea for a good price - I ended up paying $6.77 for a large cream tea with pudding and baby tap as well as a relatively large hot taro cream tea. read more
