One of the places I was saddest to leave when we moved away from Tysons Corner was Teas'n You, which was such a bright spot in the area when bubble tea was still not that common yet. I really liked their creative and beautiful drinks and LOVED their Taiwanese-style popcorn chicken. So I was excited to try them again during a visit back to Tysons for breakfast now that they have expanded and changed their menu to more of a cafe menu, with more coffee and matcha beverages as well as pastries. If I'm not mistaken, the cafe menu seems to be much less bubble tea-focused, although you can still get bubble tea toppings, and they still have fruit teas and milk teas and slushes. Props to the folks developing the menu, btw, everything looked absolutely delicious. One thing about Happy Endings Hospitality is they know what gets the people going, and we had a tough time picking what to get from all the great options. We landed on the hojichai, a pandan croissant, an ube coconut cream puff, and of course an order of spicy popcorn chicken. The interior is much the same as I remember, still airy and inviting with a lot of 2 seat tables for little cafe dates, with a free water station near pickup. Our drink was brought our first, very kindly by the server since they weren't too busy yet, and then our food followed a few minutes after since they fry the chicken fresh for every order. I will say that while looking through reviews for guidance on what to order, I saw 2 recurring critical sentiments, which was that drinks can be too sweet and the menu is expensive. While we really enjoyed everything we got, I can't disagree with these critiques. + The hojichai was quite sweet, even though I asked for it to be less sweet, to the point that my partner wondered if they made a mistake. I still enjoyed it, and thought it went down nicely with the fried chicken but was perhaps a bit too sweet to pair as nicely with the pastries. The drink also ended up being nearly $9, which is steep! + The pandan croissant was nice but nothing to write home about. It was wrapped in foil from being warmed, which was nice as I can see it having been sitting for a bit from its texture, as it wasn't as crisp on the outside soft on the inside as I like croissants to be. I think pandan fans will like it though! + The ube coconut cream puff was good but the price does make it feel like even more of an indulgence. My reference point for cream puffs is one of my favorite cafes, Bibble & Sip in NYC, as I think their cream puffs going viral online helped make it a more popular pastry at least for Asian-inspired/Asian-owned cafes, and I believe theirs are still $4, maybe $5 by now? This one was $6. + THE BASIL POPCORN CHICKEN STILL HITS. My gosh I was so worried that maybe the recipe was changed or my memory made them seem tastier than they ever actually were but no these were so delicious and juicy and flavorful and getting them so hot and fresh out of the fryer is just amazing. (Be careful not to burn your mouth!) For the size of the portion, yes I do find this price to also be a bit steep but it's soooo good my wallet is grateful I live too far to indulge more regularly. I always get them with the sriracha aioli but -- and this is something I rarely say as a lover of sauces and dipping things in sauces -- they don't really need a sauce! They're just that flavorful and juicy. But yes $11 for what never seems like enough... you will think you can share with a friend but you are better off getting your own for the sake of your friendship. (I read a funny review where the reviewer described how so many different drinks too sweet for her, but the reason she had tried so many off the menu was she comes here so often for the chicken and gets a different drink every time. If my testimonial of the chicken doesn't sell you, I hope hers does.) TL;DR Teas'n You has evolved since opening almost a decade ago, from a bubble tea + popcorn chicken joint to a more well-rounded cafe. I appreciate that about this place. I ordered strawberry milk because I'm missing those drinks from Japanese Family Marts. I also got pistachio bubble tea because that's new to me. I liked the strawberry but I expected a richer taste from the pistachio. Then, I got the Fusion Fruit Tea just for the sake of trying not expecting much. It's always the unexpected things that hit you. Fusion Fruit Tea is now my favorite. The popcorn chicken here is a must-get at this place. It was incredibly good. A hint of masala, crispy texture, a little bit of basil, and paring it off with the sauce it came with just made my day. The Banana Chai Bread is probably my favorite version of banana bread. Once inside, you can order via the IPad. I opted to try the classic Thai milk tea to get a good baseline of their boba. Solid Thai milk tea and I liked that they had the option to do less pearls added as I'm a girl who likes more milk tea to boba pearls. Mango Sticky Rice Drink I started with the sticky rice drink and got it with regular sugar. At first, it was really good. The mango juice and sticky rice combination tasted fresh, sweet, and unique. While the menu possesses a ton of options and is regularly updated, everything tastes similar due to the sugar levels. I can't vouch for the boba itself, but we always order our drinks with grass jelly and find it somewhat hard and flavorless here. I also think the portion size of the "regular" drinks a bit stingy, though everything in and around Tyson's is expensive so this flaw is passable. Teas'n You does distinguish itself by offering a selection of savory foods, including Taiwanese fried chicken, as well as house made pastries like cupcakes and cookies. I've already mentioned in another review that I'm a fan of the points system that Happy Endings Hospitality has between their vendors. I'm a huge fan of both the drinks and the food here, which I appreciate since most boba spots I go to offer food that's sub-par, so I'm glad that Teas'n You puts all their energy in both parts of the menu. My go-to is Thai tea, which Teas'n You makes really delicious and creamy with perfectly textured boba, but recently I tried the Vietnamese egg coffee, which I also really enjoyed. My favorite pastries are the egg tarts. I've had the original flavor and ube flavor, both really delicious with a flaky crust. I was scrolling through their topping options and found ube cream which is something I've never seen at boba places as a topping option and it didn't cost extra! If I could get a whole cup of just the ube cream, I would. I love that they also have flan as a topping option as well and it works so well with the horchata flavor. The popcorn chicken and garlic Parmesan fries are something I always get too. Sometimes the garlic flavor is a little too strong on the fries but I don't mind it. The ordering screen makes it super easy to decide on what to order with all the reference pictures. They have an indoor and outdoor seating and some card games you can play while there.
