I'm not 100% sure what to think about Teddy B's right now. We have been regulars for a few years, the owner knows my order by looking at the ticket, and we were going once a week during wuflu2020 to help support local businesses that were staying open. If you asked me 6 months ago, I'd say the burgers were some of the best in the city, the fries were always good, if sometimes a little overseasoned, the service was great, and it was one of the few places we could get food for 2 for $15-16. But then the mistakes started happening. Toppings were regularly switched between burgers, the taste was bland, fries had 0 seasoning and were soggier than usual. And it kept happening. I wont say I'll never eat there again, because I will, but what used to be an automatic "we havent had the shack [its old name] this week, burger?" has turned into "I dont know if i want to risk it, want teddy b's or just mcdonalds?" Tucked away inside of a fuel station, but don't allow this to deter you. Service is super friendly and very helpful. The dining area is spotless and very clean. I tried a few item but I very much enjoyed their Burgers. Everyone I was with lauded the exceptional quality and delicious food. Prices were very reasonable and they give very large portions. The bacon cheeseburger is loaded with delicious bacon. Veggies on the burger were fresh and crisp! Everything was seasoned very well. Small business and locally owned. Def give this spot a try if in the area. So so so much better than any chain or franchise restaurant. I can't wait until I'm back in the area. This place is freaking delish and consistent, other than the name change... we're told that the co owners of The Shack decided to separate and this is the new name. Looks like the menu is the same and I can't tell the difference in the food before of after the name change. Anyways, the burgers are amazing and creative. They're also large! Huge portions! We usually share and it's plenty. Both the fries and the Mexican corn are favorites for us. The prices are great and the service is always friendly. We haven't tried the desserts but they sound amazing and as much as we grab food from the place, desserts are in our future. This is our go-to burger place. Do not let its humble appearance deter you - a magical combination of burgers, hot dogs, agua frescas, and corn in the cup awaits. My hubby and I were both very pleased with our burgers, the Southwest and the Mushroom Swiss. They both had an authentic old-fashioned flavor that quite honestly is hard to find these days amidst fancier burger joints. The quality of the ingredients constituting their burgers was apparent from the freshness of the mushrooms and onions, to the beefiness of the burger, and to the addictive and slightly sweet bun that brought it all together. I have to admit that our fries were slightly underdone and the tots lacked seasoning. However, the delicious corn in the cup and agua frescas most certainly made up for that. So this is not our first bad experience here, but the lack of customer service we experienced earned this yelp review. Tonight we called in our order and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We waited 30 minutes before heading to the restaurant. My husband gets to the window and our order is not ready and no one in the restaurant even has record of us calling it in. One of my favorite fast food places in San Antonio. The restaurant is connected to a gas station but don't let that deter you from trying them out this place is amazing! They have unique burgers and hot dogs, such as a mushroom Swiss dog and a dog with chorizo on it. My fav is the caliente dog, it's a good quality dog covered in hot Cheetos and nacho cheese with a few jalapeños.. and if you're not feeling fries OR tots as a side you can choose a corn in a cup !
