Oh, Ted's -- where my diet goals go to die. This is my favorite restaurant because the food is across-the-board good. I've been probably 20 times by now and I love it equally on each occasion. Highlights are probably the biscuits and gravy (their sausage is amazing), the short rib sammy, the chicken parm, and their peanut butter, chocolate, banana milkshake. If you're in the mood for comfort food in a place with awesome ambiance (great branding and they play old black and white movies on the TVs), go here. But really, just go here. It's so good. Came in after a movie because my oldest son wanted some breakfast for dinner. We came in. Great greeting and seated immediately. Off to a good start. Then I sat in my booth for about seven mins before I was greeted by my server. This gave me a chance to observe another server greet his table with water glasses. We weren't. Since we were left waiting the offered a free appetizer. Cool. I figured things were going to get better. As service went, it wasn't the case. My server never checked on my table. Never. Saw him twice. Once to take my order and to cash me out. I'm a server so I know all about the two min, two bites rule. I sat there and barely touched my food. He would've found out I was unhappy and I could've ordered an alternative or had the meal taken off. But I was over feeling like my sons and I were a burden the whole time I just paid $71 for an ok meal and still tipped ten bucks to the waiter. But you guys gotta do better. If you don't want to give great customer service at 9:30pm because it's about to be closing time and you wanna leave, give someone else that shift. I expected more from this well known establishment. I went to this location of T'sB this week (Earth Day 2017). It was close to the hotel my wife and I had. And it opened within an hour of when we woke up. The decor was amazing- roomy & retro cool. The food lived up to the prices (which were higher than Boston's diners without factoring in the higher sales tax). And these were great portions! I got the sausage and biscuits and my wife got the giant breakfast sammich. Both were delicious and we barely needed to eat lunch. Funny story... We were seated damn near immediately. And we sat, unnoticed, for close to ten minutes. And then, a waitress noticed. She wasn't assigned to our section, but she took total care of us. She gave us tips on the menu. She told us what was fresh in the bakery case. She was engaged and pleasant and got us what we needed as soon as possible. She was a great waitress. Between the food and her excellent work, we came back again Sunday morning. And while we didn't get her as our waitress, she noticed us and checked up on us again! I checked my first bill slip for her name; it was Daaiyah. If you're luck enough to sit in her section (or be rescued by her) TIP HER EXTRA. We did. read more

I came here for happy hour, and while I did enjoy the price of their entrees ($10), it left me craving something more. I tried the ribs, and they were a-ok, but the serving size could have been more filling. Yes, the ribs were savory, but the star of the ribs was the sauce and not the texture (the type you would find in a meat-falling-off-the-bone rib). Fries were crisp. The ribs definitely needed more pop. However, if you are looking for something more, I would recommend their peanut butter burger with bacon. Lots of protein packed into a burger. We were visiting and our friend called and made a reservation, we arrived early and they said they didn't have a reservation under our name but could seat us in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later they were "bussing the table" 45 minutes later they were still "bussing" the tables. They don't take reservations so calling ahead is your best bet. The soup was phenomenal, really didn't think something as simple as a tomato soup could taste so good. The crab cake was mediocre at best and certainly not worth $13. I asked for tartar sauce and they offered a jalapeño tartar sauce which sounded so good but basically just tasted like straight mayo. The food came out in a timely manner perfectly cooked benedicts that were just superb and enough to keep me full and satisfied. The hostess on the other hand... The primary reason for the four verses a five was not the hour and a half wait to get our seating, but because the hostess informed me of the long wait time (fine) then when checking in an hour later stated she did not have my name on the list anymore (fine) and that we would get the next table (perfect), but it was then after seeing two parties of our same size seated and waiting an extra 30 minutes is what became irritating. If you're not making our group next, tell me at least and don't say otherwise. People aren't blind. read more

Well we almost didn't get to eat here because of the hour and a half wait time but luckily we were called over to the bar while we were walking out the door. I ordered the cornedbeef hash and was not dissapointed..the cornedbeef was seasoned well and the portion was well more than enough. Although I foolishly did not try the homemade pop tarts my dining companion was very satisfied with the blueberry cheesecake pop tart. Just a short walk from the metro Ted's is a great place to get a good meal...be prepared to wait tho if you don't get there early. read more

This place is one of my favorites. It's always crowded so come early to miss the rush of people that come around noon for brunch. Usually there is bar seating so that you can bypass the line - works well for parties of two. I shared a side of corn beef hash, pancakes and the burrito. All were excellent ! I highly recommend all of them. The pancakes are very moist and the corn beef hash is seasonal. I would normally not order this but I've heard so many good things - worth a try here. read more

My family loved our brunch at Ted's! I don't know why people are saying the tarts aren't anything special - we all loved them. We wanted to try them- but also we got them as an appetizer since we were all so hungry! My daughter and I loved the maple tart and my son and husband loved the strawberry tart. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all great! The pancakes were nice fluffy! My two roommates and I went to Ted's for brunch around 10:00 AM. One roommate was smart and called ahead to put our names in while we were on the way because they don't take reservations. When we got to Ted's we waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated. There's also a dessert bar up front that you can order from while you wait or on your way out--so the wait feels even shorter! We were seated and our server--who was EXTREMELY friendly--served us drinks and took our orders. Orders took about 15 minutes to come out. When they did--they were amazing! Full disclosure: I was hungover af. I ordered Jon's Omelet (veggie with cheese) with hash browns and a substitute of fruit instead of the breakfast meats. It was much better than I anticipated. The hash browns rocked and the omelet was tender instead of over-cooked, like most places tend to do. After, I ordered a house made blueberry and cheesecake pop tart. It was served warm on a small plate and WORTH EVERY CALORIE. My overall check for a breakfast platter and pop tart with no drink was around $17.00. Bottom line: If you're looking for a hearty brunch after an extremely long night of fucking up your liver--then this is the place to be! It's bustling--but not annoying, has a very charming old-timey atmosphere and a very friendly staff. And the portions are large enough that you will leave satisfied no matter what you order. I would recommend this place to groups between 1-6 people. Any larger than that and it might be a challenge to find seating quickly. read more

Ted's is a great concept that has numerous locations throughout the Washington D.C. area. I want to preface this by saying that I love Ted's, and I generally end up taking all of my friends/family who visit DC here, but I also think Ted's should be viewed in chunks. Ted's really kills it in the breakfast department which I think is really pronounced via a few of their specific staples (the Ted's tart, the cinnamon role as big as ya head, the big mark). Their breakfast food is constantly delicious and is reminiscent of good diner food which is the theme that Ted's plays to. They also make homemade pop tarts (Ted's tarts) that are to die for. If you go to Ted's you MUST walk out of there with a tart. They offer huge portions (my dad loves this about Ted's) and their breakfast prices are totally reasonable. They also make a solid cup of coffee. The reason that Ted's only gets four stars from me though is because I feel like breakfast is where Ted's really peaks. They have a few interesting entrees on their dinner menu but it tends to be way more expensive than breakfast, and also way less interesting. Ted's can also be a total zoo and tricky to get into at times. I would definitely recommend that you try out Ted's, but I'd encourage you to do it for breakfast above anything else. read more

I signed up for my own Yelp account just to rave about this place - (And my wife is tired of me using her account to rate subway stations, toll booths, etc.) - but mostly to rave. I grew up in diners with cool dessert & ice cream selections. Ted's is too well appointed to called a diner, but it has the nostalgia chops of RT. 40 Baltimore circa 1959 (in my imagination, anyway). Sharp, art deco-y bar & dining space with quilted vinyl booths. Upbeat music & vibe. Crab benedict was wonderful - perfectly poached eggs, tangy hollandaise, fresh mini crab cakes on toasted sourdough. Even the hash browns were value-added. On a steamy DC day, the waiter kept the lemonade moving, clearly sympathetic to my flop sweat. Entire staff was friendly and attentive - hospitality like I was from the neighborhood. Upon entering the second built Ted's Bulletin, you see the floor to ceiling glass window facade, lcd infused logo, and revolving door. The look and feel right when you enter will resemble that of a Vegas buffet or 70s LA diner. You'll of course see their display of 39812373 calorie decadent cakes, tasty donuts, famous poptarts, and hot pink snoballs ? -- they're really just brownies w/ pink coconut flakes. So what about the food? Pretty darn good for what its' worth. My friend ordered a classic cheeseburger and I got the shortbread sandwich on rye w/ a side of dijon mustard. Both plates are served with a heaping portion of fresh cut fries. We topped our meal off with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream + oreos and a chocolate glazed donut (their donuts are extremely mediocre). The rules here: if you don't ask, they won't tell. The waiters/waitresses seem over worked and flustered with their surroundings. We dined at the bar and witnessed, time after time, servers ignoring us and telling us "go tell your server," who was also tending 18 other tables. Either improve your operations or make it an open floor so the servers can do their job to the fullest. read more
