Tejaban is the main restaurant on Solmar Resort. I'd give it a 3.5, but rounded it up to 4. Here's why...
It's pretty standard and I love the convenience of it being included in our all-inclusive package. We could eat there for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner - and even if the menus are priced, (which are already included in our package- taxes and gratuities are also included). We never actually had the chance to eat here for lunch, but I LOVED coming down here for breakfast. Imagine waking up to no alarm, taking your time and laying in bed, then BOOM hunger strikes. Just get up and head down to Tejaban where they already have a breakfast buffet set up and an omelette station.
Their breakfast buffet was set up the same way, everyday- with a few changes here and there. But for the most part, breakfast included: scrambled eggs (either plain or rancheros style), bacon/ham, beans, sausage, french toast, pancakes, shredded beef burritos, etc. Mexican-style breakfast fiesta! They even got the fruit bar with pineapple, papaya, melons, yogurt (plain and flavored) and their freshly squeezed juice every morning was perfect for my mimosas! Our waiters Emmanuel and Vicente always checked up on us, refilling coffee or mimosas, etc.
Dinner is completely different (with the exception of Sundays and Thursday where they set up buffet/fiesta style). During dinner time, you usually order from a menu. I typically got steak. I had the NY steak almost every night and it was kind of fatty. I do love the beans and vegetables though, and more importantly the dessert.
Tejaban's bar is actually the swim-up pool bar, but there's two sides that are accessible to the waiters and cocktail servers (and other guest who want to personally order at the bar). We spent a good amount of time getting wasted at the swim-up bar and their drinks are fantastic. What's great is, since everything's all-inclusive, if you felt that your drink wasn't strong enough, you could always make it a double (which I had to do to keep up with my boyfriend). Their pina colada, Miami vice (strawberry + pina colada [sometimes I asked for mango instead]), and blue lagoon and mango margarita were among my favorites. Oh and can't forget the red beer! Or XX with Clamato, Lime and Tajin (the locals aren't use to people asking for Micheladas). On side note though, the only beers they had at the bar were XX, Tecate and Tecate Light. read more
