The servers were friendly, welcoming and accommodating to my request for a light roast pour over coffee; turns out they don't usually do them this late in the day. The ambiance was not good: the interior was tired (again, end of the day), and tables were dirty and there was a lot of small detritus on the floor (including a stepped on croissant and fork under a table). I wish I could rate this place negative stars. It was extremely chaotic when I entered with my baby, and not accessibility-friendly with a stroller. I got told several times to line up in different directions. First, a random woman yelled at me to line up behind some, who ended up already having ordered. I then had to maneuver around to the other direction, in which another woman yelled at me to line up the other direction and said "I'm the manager." Mind you, she didn't say it to anyone else - despite there being a long line of other people ahead of me. We all had to reshuffle, in which the order of the line completely changed. I also don't know why she would single me out, when I'm solo, not mobile and have an infant - when there were large groups in both directions. It was unprofessional, and felt targeted. I will never return to this spot. It also smelled like smoke when I entered. Should have just gone to Starbucks instead of this overpriced Joe & the Juice. read more

My go to spot in downtown Walnut Creek for coffee dates. The coffee is amazing, the food is yummy (including several plant based options), and they have ample and comfy seating options. They also serve beer and wine! I love that they have several plant based milk options. Oh, and their vegan Scone is amazing!! I always thought scones were glorified rocks with flavoring. Turns out I was wrong, they just suck everywhere but Tellus. Oh, and get it warmed up. Trust me! I would also recommend the Soyrizo Empanadas which are perfectly flaky and not too greasy. Very nice cafe. Me and my husband both got the Burnt Honey Cinnamon Latte I was able to adjust the sweetness and get the oat milk version. It was very tasty. We also got the blueberry muffin that was served warmed up. There were not so many pastries options to choose from (we got here around 3pm on a Saturday), but I did see few vegan pastries. If you don't have time for a full length review: - amazing food -great coffee -beautiful atmosphere The coffee is roasted in house, with a zero emissions roasting machine. All pastries are baked fresh at a local bakery in Oakland and brought daily to the shop. Having been to coffee shops all over the country, and world, I'll say that the Tellus coffee breakfast sandwich is the best. You can really taste the quality in the ingredients. The croissant is the perfect texture, and doesn't taste or feel like there's any preservatives in it, or ingredients to make it seem "fresh" like many places have. It's legit fresh. The service is great, and everyone working is efficient and quick. Even when busy, the workers pump out drinks and food quickly with no loss in quality. Everything tastes amazing even when it's super busy. The interior design is amazing, plenty of natural light, and the vertical garden is beautiful. The chairs are comfortable and tables are at a good height to hang out and graze on your food, or to work on a computer. This was my third time coming, and each time I find myself not wanting to leave. Definitely the new gem of downtown, and I'm sure I'll be filling up my punch card in no time at all. read more

Quality business that sells quality coffee. Pros: -Quality espresso drinks. This shop does, in fact, roast in house. I have visited this cafe +50 times. I have ordered latte, cappuccino, macchiato. There is consistency when ordering the same drink on different days, and when prepared by different baristas. I have purchased many of the espresso bean varieties and prepared them when at home via manual lever press. -Staff seem generally happy. Staffing seems appropriate. This cafe tends to get exceptionally busy for morning rush and on weekends. Owner appears to staff up for these times. Definitely stressful for all staff when rushes occur. Staff are very friendly and kind. -(Nearly) Adequate Seating. There are two-person tables outside the cafe, two round tables near the entrance window, a long row of 1-2 person tables spanning the length of the cafe and a quieter seating area in the back. I say (Nearly) because if you come during busier hours you may not find a seat which is unfortunate. However, owner has maximized all available seating, so nothing more can be done. But seating layout here is way better than most cafes you'll find. Cons: -Two hour time limit on free Wifi. -Operating hours. Currently 8AM-4PM M-Sa and 9AM-4PM Sun. Not for the early birds or late comers. -One bathroom. You may have to wait (but not long) during busier hours. Neutral: -Price. Would not describe drinks or food as a deal $. This is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a tasty bite to eat! I love that they have so many different concepts available including pour over coffees, flavored lattes, and they use multiple different regional references and really make it feel like a fancy coffee shop. As a sommelier I felt like I was going into a wine bar because were so many different options and they could explain it all! You can tell they put a lot of hard work into what they do. I have to say one of my favorite parts about this was that they offered every type of milk and it wasn't for an extra charge it was just on the side in a little bar for anyone to grab, so you can make your coffee as you wish. Most places now charge between $.50 to a dollar for a splash of almond milk which cost exact same as regular milk in the store. I will definitely be coming back to try new coffees. read more

Really good coffee since they roast their own coffee beans. Maybe a Blue Bottle in the making? Today, the service was extremely slow while I waited for 2 cold brews. It was busy but not overly busy. Seemed like a lot of confusion while making people's orders. I could tell the couple in front of me were getting upset. I do expect to wait longer for pour over coffee but this was longer than usual. I will try to avoid this place on Saturdays (early afternoon) and come back during less busy times.
