I was visiting this weekend and was able to stop in. This place is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! The outdoor area is so pretty. I had the Mexican hot chocolate (iced which I know is weird) and my mom had the iced chai latte to drink. You know... I'm really disappointed. The last time I ordered a chai latte with almond milk. I pay nearly 6 dollars for a chai latte only to have the worst chai I've had EVER. As a frequent customer, who usually sits to do work at the local coffee houses I feel like its hard to give your drink back and request the drink to be remade. As I mentioned, for a long time I've gone in and have bad drinks... hoping this would be an outlier. I've had drinks with little flavor, (mochas) that don't taste of coffee. I think this has happened one too many times at temple. While they have built a brand and have a nice area to work, lets not forget that they're a coffee shop and its okay yo hold them accountable to produce not just a nice brand, ambiance, service but also quality products. Temple Coffee Roasters looks to be a popular chain around the area and I can see why. It is fairly busy and the smell of natural coffee is there. Looking for to go, I got the hot Vanilla Latte and wasn't let down. It is on the darker and bitter side but gives a strong taste. It's a big pricy both worth it given it's size and well crafting. I visisted the 2829 S St in Sacramento, CA location in the evening on 8/29/2019 . I literally ordered a cappucino with the Guatemala espresso and an americano with the Ghama espresso (not sure if thats the proper spelling) but it was a stronger blend and two little caramel sticks. First time the price was given was $9 something the girl ringing us said oh it's going to take too long to do the espresso you want for the americano so I am not going to charge you for that since we did it with the Guatemala blend so I said ok then she rings us up and our total was $12.97. I did not question it partly because I was dead exhausted that day, but how could this be correct? Two drinks for $13! Have Temples prices gone up or are the workers just becoming careless. I probably should have addressed it from the jump but I feel like if the original drink request couldn't be filled on their part then she should at least be paying better attention to not over charging customers. Especially when the S St location is my favorite when I am in the area. I've been driving out here for the past couple of weeks from Elk Grove just for their thai tea. The service is usually subpar, but i always get to go for my drink. I went about 30 min ago for a thai tea & to my surprise the service was great-- but the moment i took a sip of my drink i gagged. It tastes like oyster water & just dirty water in general, i'm so disgusted & disappointed. The drink actually SMELLS bad too which is so gross. I have no idea what went wrong here. Ordered a hot latte to sit in there. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or maybe lattes are bitter or doesn't have as much sweetness, but I had to add in a pack of sugar. My friend added in two packs of sugar into her iced coffee. The apple strudel I got was a bit dry and wish they could toast it or make it warm. I'm surprised it's not too expensive here. I honestly thought a cup of coffee would be around $5+. They need to put a sliding door behind the pastry cabinet because we saw a fly or bug on one of the pastries. The cashier and the two coffee baristas were really nice. There's patio seating if inside is packed. Limited parking in the small parking lot so we parked on the street not to far. Heard some good things about Temple Coffee Roasters so decided to stop by when I went to Sacramento with a friend. We went at 1:30pm on Wednesday. I definitely parked in the Natural Foods Co-op by accident and got a little lost in finding the cafe. But it worked out because we were about to take a peak at the roastery. The patio is very welcoming and provides a good amount of shade. The interior decor is nice and clean. Cleanliness (4/5): everything was clean and stocked. The retail wall was organized and had very little dust! The pastry case, to me, was the most intriguing - the pastries looked so tempting but I wasn't in the mood for eating anything at the time. Customer Connection (3/5): the team members were very friendly and greeted us right away. I have to give a shout out to the cashier because I asked her what one of the cookies were (she said oatmeal raisin), and when I declined she offered the chocolate cookie in its place. I love it when up-selling doesn't feel like a forced sell. It was very natural. They were out nitro cold brew and although the natural choice would be cold brew, I just wished they would've offered an alternative (i.e. something comparable to the taste and complexity of nitro cold brew). Service/Product Quality (2/5): We ordered the cold brew and an iced chai latte. The cold brew was very watery and didn't seem to have much depth. I almost feel like it tasted as if it was cut with too much water. The color was much lighter than any cold brew I have tasted. The iced chai latte was ok, but it too lacked much flavor. The coffee tastes great, the staff is ultra friendly (all women from what I've seen) and the decor is lofty and tropical. LOCATION: This one is on S st next to Revolution Wines and a parking garage. They have a small parking lot that's free with street parking at no cost as well if you are lucky enough to find an opening. DECOR: Let's start with the outside. There's an outdoor patio between the building and S st that seats 50+people and is shared with Revolution Wines. There's a walk way straight grin the street through the outdoor area. It's covered by wooden crate looking panels, trees and other greenery. This is where it looks tropical. If the weather permits, I sit outside. The building has large windows that face the outdoor area and wooden panels on the building. Once you walk inside, you're standing in an own floor plan with a tall table straight ahead, counter on there other side and couch, table & bench seating along the walls. Exposed brick and wooden accents create a very homey feeling. COFFEE: Delicious! I get a toasty Mexican Mocha. Toasty as in hot. lol. It's delicious. Just like hot chocolate with a kick. It always looks beautiful when they make it so I have plenty of pictures. I have also had an iced mocha. It was good as well, but I like my mochas toasty. PRICE: This ain't Starbucks so it won't be as cheap, but neither will the taste. It's $5 for The Mexican Mocha. Hot or cold. That's a fair price. Right in par with other coffee shops. EXPERIENCE: I always start with a couple of snaps of the outside of the place because it's absolutely gorgeous. I then enter the building to be greeted by whomever is making coffee. I look around to see just about every seat taken. Doesn't matter if the weather if prime for seating outside. I place my order over small conversation. Last time was with the girl who looks like Katniss Everdeen from hunger games. I pay for my mocha over small conversation. It's filled to the brim so it'll take me about 8 minutes to get to the patio and seated without spilling a drop. And no. I can't drink it down. I need it filled and untouched for pictures. lol. That's about another 10 minutes. I am usually here for a business meeting so I drink and relax until they arrive. The ambience is so chill, I arrive early for meetings just to do that. read more

I've been here twice now and I must say that the coffee is delicious. I always stick to my black iced coffee. Have to minimize those calories. The coffee is very smooth and rich and I'm completely in love with it. It was worth the $4. I even bought a bag of it so that I can try making my own cold brew at home. The coffee is not cheap, so I'll see about getting another bag after I finish the one I purchased over the weekend. The location itself gives a great vibe. From the indoor seating to the amazing outside seating area, you'll find a perfect spot to hangout and enjoy your coffee. I also appreciate how clean, neat, and open the place is. THEIR BLACK CITRUS ICED TEA IS A GATEWAY TO NIRVANA! I've been coming to TEMPLE COFFEE ROASTERIE now for about four (4) months starting in mid-June. I have YET to buy coffee. Seriously! And often, a venue establishment is as much appreciated for different ancillary services - in this circumstance, "Free WiFi" - as it is for the products it overtly peddles. THE SIT-REP (Situation Report) TEMPLE is almost exclusively my "after-work" stop on the way home. I jet off from work (9th & Q), pop onto light-rail and get off at the 29th & R stop to pick up mail at the Sutter Station P.O.Box and/or stop in at TEMPLE (if not going directly home to Watt & Folsom). Ever since all of the greedy TeleComs (mine is AT&T because of my dam iPhone) implemented their 5GB "hard-limit" on their wireless cellular cards effective July 1, 2010, I've been searching out free WiFi hot spots for my Dell Mini wireless laptop. [I have no internet hard-line at home and am totally dependent on my AT&T Wireless Cellular Card for both my PC at home and my Dell laptop when WiFi is not available.] I discovered to my ABSOLUTE HORROR when I requested a usage-audit from the AT&T representative back in July that I used about 20GBs on average per month over the cellular-card (from July 2009 thru June 2010). Before July 1, AT&T "merely looked the other way" and saw the 5GB limit as a then "soft-limit" on my $51/mon plan. NOW after July 1, it is a "hard-limit" and the same average usage per month would cost me $760/month. NO WAY!?! ("Yes, way", the AT&T representative responded back.) So now I am a BIG FAN of free wifi hot spots, and get all of my Windows Updates, iTunes OS downloads, MP3 & MPEG & AVI uploads/downloads, Virus Software updates, Facebook Albums uploads, etc. etc., ANYTHING with a large memory-data component, COMPLETELY DONE while at one of these free WiFi hotspots. TEMPLE has become one of the most enjoyable "after-work" stops for me. THE FARE So ironically, as I mentioned above, I still have not as of yet ordered COFFEE at this "Coffee Roasterie." I attribute that merely to TIMING: * I didn't start coming here until SUMMER had already started * When I leave work at 5pm, I usually power-walk to the lightrail station, getting a bit ....HOT... * And the summer heat -- at it's height usually right at 5pm -- was already bearing down on me. So by the time I make it to TEMPLE, my internal themometer is already peaking in the WARM'ish zone and so when presented with the two main alternatives of HOT COFFEE and ICED TEA, I would tend to pick the cooler beverage. [I admit this is truly a personal preference, but I have never really been a fan of any establishments ICED COFFEE, though I am partial to Starbuck's BLENDED Frappaccinos on occasion.] But my friends and associates tell me that the coffee is delicious! I can tell you that the three different kinds of ICED TEA that I've had - including BLACK CITRUS - are amazingly delicious and so refreshing, and I kid you not that the tea truly transports me away into another mind-realm...... But I suspect as the winter months move closer, though, and when I experience my first Holiday Season with TEMPLE, I will be making that jump to a WARMER COFFEE beverage! Oh don't get me wrong: I LOVE hot coffee, but hot coffee is my preferred "MORNING-caffiene delivery system." I don't tend to drink coffee in the afternoon or after work. So because of timing and morning proximity to work, "Mornin Brew" and "LaBou" happen to be my preferred HOT COFFEE choices. [If I'm shooting caffiene into my body in the afternoon or evening, it is usually facilitated through an ICED TEA or PEPSI ONE delivery mechanism.] I have also snacked on several occasions on their pastries and baked goods. Their oatmeal cookies are always delicious. And I have grown quite partial to their Bran & Berry muffins. If I camp out at TEMPLE for the evening because I'm doing serious downloading/uploading on the laptop, and I am not catching dinner until I get home later at 8pm or 9pm, these baked delights will hold me over nicely. THE LOWDOWN TEMPLE provides a wondrous array of both products AND services that keep the customer quite happy and benefit us greatly! (See aforementioned discussion on Free WiFi for special emphasis!) In addition, TEMPLE provides a fun casual environment with lots of different seating arrangements to promote different social interactions. I've witnessed a LOT of blind dates / hook-ups while there (and have humorously enjoyed the dramatic interplays that have taken place!). And TEMPLE is also a great meeting ground for First Year Law students in a TORT STUDY session to groups of gals enjoying an evening CROCHETING & KNITTING "decompression therapy session" together! There is all sorts of enjoyable (and PRODUCTIVE) fun to be had at this amazing establishment! read more

What an awful man inside here. Like are you on something, or are you just a GRINCH!? 20-30s, Caucasian, balding, , wearing reddish sweater. On Christmas Day Walked in, a polite man greeted me. "Hello!", I said. I walked up to the small food section to see what they had and stated, "I'm here to scope out the food!" This Entitled Snob of a Grinch on the other hand started asking me if I wanted a beverage..I JUST SAID I'M HERE FOR FOOD. Just came from the other Temple on K street and mentioned this (minus the exact location) and declined the beverage offer. Because I didn't WANT TO DISCLOSE which location I came from with this guy, I said ,"A few streets down..." He proceeded to be rude as all and began the series of belittled questioning. "OH, well which one!? (demanding) The East Sac one, the J Street one, the blah blah blah one (tuned his annoying voice out)???!!! There ARE so many! *cackle cackle cackle*" Super rude and condescending. Like, WOAH BUDDY. I literally turned around, walked right out. No way. You don't speak to someone that way, especially when you had NO idea what I was just about to order. Doesn't matter. Period. Is this how this Temple location holds themselves with their employees? Really nice place to chill and get a nice hand crafted beverage. The anti-thesis of Starbucks, this place epitomizes the way a coffee house should be. They take great pride in their craft and the quality is top shelf. My Personal favorite is the Guatemalan Antigua, personally brewed. They lovingly bring it out with a timer to let you know exactly when it's at its peak drinkability. Such a lovely coffee, and was rated 97 points on Coffee Review a few years back. Being that a lot of my friends in Sacramento are avid temple coffee goers, I thought it was in my best interest to experience the craft. To my delight, I was highly impressed. Parking was easy to find since they do have their own lot, though at times it can get a little tight. I came into the cafe with a ton of things to study for and luckily they have wifi, alongside tons of space to study or relax. Mind you, both the indoor and outdoor sceneries are equally pleasing. I was welcomed with positive greetings from the baristas, who began making my drink before I got to the register. I began with my usual drink, a normal iced vanilla late, and this had to have been one of the best iced vanilla late's I've ever had. There was a nice mix between the coffee, milk, and vanilla; the drink was neither too strong nor too sweet. Next, I ordered the bliss which includes peppermint tea, vanilla soy, coconut milk, and honey. This is one of my new favorites because it isn't as heavy as coffee can be and it also gives a warm taste reminiscent of the holidays. This drink is a double win! read more

Upon stepping foot at the Temple I was greeted by a soothing seating area with wooden chairs, tables, and trees. The coffee is obviously fresh and rich. I wished they had more places like this. They have a small parking lot, which probably fits 7-8 cars total. Don't try parking at the structured lot right next to it. Eventhough it has a huge sign that says PARKING, you'll get shooed away by the "parking police." A beautiful outside sitting area with a little bit of a garden. Walking inside it was packed with people and their laptops. You could barely find an empty seat in the house. The man ordered the Gibraltar (aka cortado). I am freakin addicted. Although I rarely drink coffee anymore...and if I do, it's decaf (seriously, maybe twice a year?), I love temple because of their tea specifically the enlightenment. Green/jasmine tea with honey and steamed soy milk served in a white tea pot and a large mug...geez, it's freakin good. There are two things I miss most during the pandemic lockdown: the Crocker Art Museum and my formerly daily meet-up with the Temple baristas and hang-out with the other charming Midtown hipsters and intelligentsia. O for the day when those good times return! Meanwhile, I am making one or two Temple visits a week to fetch myself a couple of take-home lattes. Though I can't stay to glory in the full ambience, I notice each time that some new and thoughtful measure has been added to support the health and safety of customers and crew. And that crew is as energetic and attentive as ever. Comparison test: Under Covid pressures, I did somehow wind up drinking the lattes supplied by two other cafes in my neighborhood. Temple's is just the richest, smoothest, best. And now that I am often making my own cold brew, their espresso blends make that concoction a very very tasty one-- even when all ya do is mix ground coffee with water and let it steep overnight. VEGAN OPTIONS - Yes. Parking at this location can be tricky, so I don't come to this location very often. Temple is my go-to spot for a cappuccino and other espresso based beverages in the Sacramento area. They have a good selection of alternative milks (Almond, Oat & Soy), the Dharma blend beans make a delicious espresso, and the drinks are consistently well made. The seasonal drinks are great - I've especially been enjoying the Ginger Snap Latte, but the Mocha is a standard that always tastes delicious. I've purchased the Dharma beans whole to grind and brew at home (Moka pot style), and they perform very well in a home environment - although they obviously shine best when brewed through a professional grade machine. Overall, Temple is a no brainer for any kind of caffeine when you're in the Sacramento area. read more

Unlike the other Temple, this one has a parking lot and a small patio. Even so, I like the other location more. I ordered Bliss tea after reading a friend's recommendation. The barista brought my drink over in a teapot. There was a strainer provided that I used when pouring the tea into my cup. Bliss is a peppermint tea with coconut milk and honey steamed in soy milk. I usually don't drink any type of tea but it was really good! You could drink it in place of a breath mint! I want to attend a tea party now! read more
