This place is one of my favorites to go to for any occasion, but especially when its something special or your bringing someone new to town to. They are sure to surprise and exceed expectations. They do a show with the food right in front of you while they cook it, but the food is also SOOOOOO delicious. You wont leave hungry, and you wont leave feeling like your money was wasted. They have a comfy atmosphere where you get to sit at a table and there usually are a few people you may not know, but it has never seemed out of the ordinary. Had the best experience tonight! It started off great right when we walked in the door and were greeted by Ricardo! He was such a kind and genuine person and made us feel welcomed. We chatted with him while we waited and it felt like we were long lost friends! At our table we had a great waitress, Karina who was super attentive all night, and our chef Devin was really amazing, friendly and all around great! What do you say to truly encapsulate the way fried rice seems to fill every void in the human soul and make all your problems go away. We've been several times and never been disappointed. Service was attentive, but nonchalant. The miso soup was slightly subpar, salad was good, and all the food prepared by our chef was great. The scallops were especially delicious. Tepanyaki always seems to be a meal I enjoy without any repercussions or negatives, maybe just a few not-perfects. It's the Squatting for me . and a restaurant when patron's are done eating they'll receive their bill & get the option to tip and then they're supposed to leave there's a lot of people squatting in these restaurants to feed their family...........entire families for the day and it takes away from people who are trying to go out and enjoy a Buffet who haven't been their every single day of the week , like some people . So maybe you guys should take that into consideration next time you have people waiting at the counter for more than 10 to 15 minutes because you can't clear a table. read more

It's by the numbers. Flip spatula, flame the table, do flashy egg tricks, flaming onion volcano, cook the food, flip shrimp into people's mouth. Done. There's nothing particularly Japanese about it. I've been over that for years, but it's great fun seeing families where the show makes everyone happy. Teppanyaki has been doing this for years, and has it down to a fine art. I came here for all the important reasons. It's one of only two places in Orem with a beer and wine license I hadn't gotten around to eating at. When the server asked what we wanted to drink, I ordered a bottle of wine. He then asked my wife what she wanted to drink. We said that one bottle was good enough for both of us :-) OK, the real review. Skip the tempura. The shrimp tempura is a little shrimp with a lot of tempura, so to speak. The rice and veg, are just fine. The soup is basically chicken stock with a little bit of bonito, mushroom, and dehydrated onion. Iceberg lettuce with a ranch type of dressing and some grated carrot was the salad. There's something special about Japanese steak houses. Unlike other casual dining places, there's always a puddle of water in the bottom of your salad at Japanese teppanyaki place to water down the dressing. So, with this review so far, why four stars. Well, you should know what you're getting yourself into when you come here. They made an effort to make sure everything was done well. By letting the "chef" know what we were looking for, the meat and scallops were cooked properly. It's all kitschy, but well done kitsch. read more

This outing certainly didn't disappoint by any means - to the contrary, we really enjoyed the whole experience: great atmosphere, prompt service and an entertaining and very-skilled teppan chef!! Absolutely horrible service. The food wasn't bad after waiting 45 minutes after our reservation just to sit down. I thought the point of a reservation was to make sure you have a table ready at a specific time. I would say the food was nicely flavored but way over cooked. I don't like chewing dry chicken or steak forever before you can almost swallow it. I wouldn't recommend this place over any other hibachi style restaurant or Japanese steakhouse. read more

We made a reservation two days in advance for our three birthdays in the family. When we arrived, we were told they don't take reservations, only call aheads. They mentioned they could probably seat us within 30 minutes because of the mixup. We waited for over an hour to be seated, then we were left sitting there for a while with no menus. Our waiter eventually came and gave us a QR code. The food was very expensive, but it was good. As we waited for boxes 2 1/2 hours later, we stood up by our table to thank our son-in-law, who had paid the bill. Meanwhile, the busboy came by, took all of our food-filled plates, and dumped them. I was furious. All the food was on one side of the table as we were waiting for boxes. Having spent so much on the meal and looking forward to enjoying the leftovers the next day, only to have it all dumped honestly ruined our night and birthdays. I have never been so devastated in a restaurant from start to finish in my entire life. Not to mention, my daughter's after-dinner plans were also ruined since we were seated so late. I think this is my first bad review ever. I don't usually make them, but I am still upset, and this is a day later that I am making the review. read more

New location and not too bad. Now walking into this place it's not the most inviting atmosphere. It's just one giant room and the flat skillets and tables all in there. Then they have a tiny little sushi area that doesn't have a bar though? Which is weird. Anyway we came at 5 on Friday night and we're seated right away. Our host didn't get a high chair for my 2 year old so I had to ask but beside that she was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was quick about taking our order getting drinks out. They were fast bringing the salad and miso soup out. The salad was kinda eh because the lettuce. Could have been a little fresher in my opinion. I got the combo dinner of shrimp/chicken with the fried rice. And the fried rice was great like it always is from them. Everything honestly was excellent the shrimp and the chicken. My only real complaint is how do they do there portions to give to costumers. One girl on our table was getting loaded up with food. I'd like to say the chef had a crush on her or something because she got tons of food. When it came to the shrimp we were the only two that ordered shrimp and he gave me about 8 pieces then gave 20 to the other girl?? Hmmm weird even we both pay same price for the combo dinner but only she gets the extras. That's my only real complaint is the portions they give costumers. Tepanyaki I caught the shrimp in my mouth!!! You walk in and they sit you around a large rectangle table with a huge stove cooking area. They bring you menus and you order, everything comes with a ton of food. They bring a mushroom onion soup that you drink with your hands, and then the best Japanese salad, with a sweet yummy dressing (you can order other dressing if you want) Then your chef comes out with a cart and begins to prepare your meal in front of you while you enjoy your salad and soup. He cooks, does knife tricks, and other types of fun entertainment while cooking what you ordered. As a child, I loved when he would throw the egg in the chair and catch it in his hat.. Or when he would build a volcano out of onion and make it erupt. I usually get the chicken and shrimp entrée... but you can choose just chicken, steak, shrimp, or any of them mixed together. If you order the shrimp, the chef usually cooks a few extra and gives everyone in the group a chance to try and catch one in their mouths! They have specialty sauce for each of the menu items (vegetables, meat, etc.:) and don't skimp on those! They will continue to refill, it's an endless amount of dipping deliciousness.. Finally, if it is your birthday they will bring you a Sundae with any toppings you want, but you probably won't have room to eat it:) Tepanyaki is a wonderful place for special occasions, and you pay the price. This place is a joke. I ordered food on door dash WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO PICK UP YOUR FOOD IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT DELIVERED. My husband goes to get the food and the ignorant children they've hired gave him a hard time saying that you can't pick up your food when you order from door dash. They finally give him the food after I had to screenshot the app to prove that we were picking up the food instead of getting it delivered and when he asked to speak with a manager about the way he'd been treated they wouldn't get a manager and won't tell him the name of the little boy working the front counter who would not do his job and hand over the food that had already been paid for. The Tepanyaki in American fork is older but at least they hire people who know how to treat customers. The sushi here is fine, very plain and simple. Nothing special. They had the ginger and wasabi thrown in the to go bag wrapped only in seran wrap which was obviously another turn off. If you want good sushi at a good price with people who do their job well I recommend Sushi UP in Orem or Red Mermaid in Murray. read more

The food is good here, the chefs are entertaining, but the management is not honest. Beware if your coming to this establishment with a large party. They claim they have call ahead seating. But it is a scam. And they DO NOT HONOR CALL AHEAD SEATING AT ALL!!! We called several days ahead to make arrangements for a large party. Our reservation was for 7 pm. We were literally seated at 9 pm. The last tables to be seated before they closed! They sat everyone in the restaurant before they sat us! IF YOU HAVE A LARGE PARTY YOU SHOULD PLAN TO GO SOMEWHERE-ELSE THAT WILL BE ACCOMMODATING! They told us all night that we were the next table , and then they would seat someone else. Finally they stuck us in a back room to wait when we got frustrated and offered to bring us free appetizers ( which they never brought) so they could continue to seat people with out us seeing it! They are so dishonest! They ruined our evening and our plans by stringing us along . I would have had a lot more respect for them if they said straight up , we are not going to be able to seat you until we are ready to close! But telling us we are the next table , is absolutely low down! If you have all night , this restaurant is for you! If your time is valuable , you should look else where.And truthfully, I really have to wonder , if they are comfortable to lie directly to our faces , what's going on behind our backs in the kitchen. Went in to eat with my family, everything seemed fine, sevice was great. We had been in for dinner before, and loved it. About an hour or so after leaving, 3 out of the 4 of us got violently ill. We all ate the same thing. Filet, salmon, fried rice and the soup/salad appetizers. My mom called and spoke to the manager who didn't care at all and didn't even want to look into it, he said there was no way it was from the food. I called and the same thing happened. I explained to him I didn't want a refund I just wanted to inform him so others didn't get sick. He didn't even ask me what we ate. We will never come here again because the management isn't willing to listen when there is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with. If management had listened, I would've come back because mistakes happen, but that just wasn't the case. read more

This place is fantastic! Food is really great. Ask for Ezra. Highly skilled chef with 10 years of experience at several Tepanyaki restaurants. Not only is he highly skilled at all the traditional chef tricks and know all the jokes he knows exactly the right amount of ingredients, sauces etc to make the food taste great. The owner is a sweetheart. Very accommodating to us and our large group of young kids. 7 kids and 4 adults in our group. Kids were mesmerized. I ordered a meat and my husband order a combination of meats. somehow we never got our meat and only got the rice and veggies? So we talked to the waitress which came back and had us pay for the rice and veggies and didn't cook up our meat to go or anything?! $35 for sides ?! I was still super hungry and almost had to go to another place for dinner#2! So disappointed! For how expensive it is and the fact they are the ones that screwed up.. Tepanyaki is my favorite place ever and I love going here but this time when my kids New York strip came out it looked like pork and NOT STEAK but it was sweet n juicy. My father got fillet minion which wasn't as sweet but it certainly looked like steak. This confused me. The two guys next to us complained even though they didn't eat like any of it. To start off we didn't get to eat. X-mas eve and it was very busy but it was so frustratinly disorganized. We made reservations several days before and had about a 2 hour window for a show we were going to. It was like being in a Seinfeld episode being told our table was almost ready and watching other people being seated until we didn't have time and it was obvious they weren't close to getting us a table.
