I always enjoy trying a new restaurant, especially since our friends had been here before on numerous occasions and really like it. I believe we picked a bad night as they were very short staffed (apparently someone on the staff had walked out earlier that night). It took forever to get chips and salsa and then some more time before they took our drink order. We were in no hurry and took the time to look at the huge menu. Everything looked and sounded great. We waited for a long time to get our food but when it came it was beautifully plated, fresh, and warm. DELICIOUS! I stopped in this past week for National Taco Day... so naturally I went with the $7.99 all you can eat taco, soup and salad lunch. It did not disappoint! The is one of my favorite places to get amazing Mexican food. The portions are always huge and fulfilling. The staff are always so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. Their margaritas are huge and will get you right if you know what I mean. I love to get the their queso dip with chips, although their complimentary salsa is really good too! I love their seafood nachos. I just substitute the tilapia with salmon or their Jose frog enchiladas. I promise you won't regret your food. Everything is always so good and fresh. read more

The inside was very nice and clean. My only complaint is that it smelled like bleach at our seats so you know they cleaned something! We got complimentary chips and salsa. The place is very modern and is decorated with a black and silver color. It was very clean, and the servers were very attentive. I thought the bar was really beautiful. A friend who did some of the work on the building invited us to see it, and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of food. It's Latin fusion, and my plate of ginger chicken was really tasty. We arrived at 8:45 on a Thursday and were the only ones in the place. They have very nice decor, kind of upscale, classy. The lighting is dim, mostly Edison lights. Music is light contemporary, not Mexican/Spanish. They have mostly tables, some booths. The staff was very friendly. Jose was very helpful. He recommended several items not typical in a Mexican restaurant. The salsa was very good and fresh, but the chips were just ok. The queso dip is weak, thin. Overall, they have very good prices, and a very original and lengthy menu. The Caribbean Tilapia was recommended and I was reluctant to try it, but it was excellent. The pineapple and coconut were a nice touch. The Chicken and Spinach Taquitos were very good. Lightly fried, good filling. We will definitely go back. read more

I've been here twice in the last month, and it was good both times. I wouldn't say I was wowed and I wouldn't say I was disappointed. Everything was good without being great. Nothing tastes especially authentic, but it was all well prepared and at decent prices. Our server was the same guy both times, and he was attentive and friendly. I had enchiladas the first time, fajitas the second time, and they were good. The chips and salsa both taste fresh. The place is in a sort of notorious location at 116th Street and Allisonville Road that used to also be a Mexican restaurant that I liked a lot. This one is decorated much differently and has more of the feel of a upscale fusion place. If I had wanted to be brave and delve deeper into the menu, I'm pretty sure I would have found stuff more along those lines. So this place might be better for the younger set looking to try more new things and explore that which has never been explored before. I finally got around to having dinner at this spot. I dined in. Should have read reviews first. Not the friendliest crew except the young guy who brought me my food. I often tip well because that's how they make their living but trust me. Was a percentage of the bill not for the food or service. They don't care though that's the sad part. Came out super quick in a big bowl and was red on top so I saw that the red was grease settling from the beef(must have been sitting waiting for someone to order it OR beef was not heated and poured into the queso), either way... it was taken to heat at home. Super watery not what you would imagine cheese dip to be FOR $7 and on the website it says $6.50 Huge turnoff. Meal was speedy as well. Rice was not warm. Carnitas were good and shrimp( I asked for as an extra) was the hottest part of the meal as they had to cook those. Super bland not much flavor AT ALL! I can see why everything came so quick temps were not up to par so I was losing my appetite. Most of the stay I was shooing away gnats. One flew on my rice so I was done. Asked for boxes only took my meat, lettuce, chips and queso. Based on the ambiance, I expected more. I got to register and told them there were gnats and One flew in my food and both the guy checking me Out and the waitress said oh sorry about that. That's it and that's all. Crossed them off the list... been there done that. Won't return!! Some people don't care and eat anything. I can't tell what meat it was, there was no flavor and the texture was challenging. Flan- Don't lie! That was not flan, we decided it was safer not to taste it according to how it looked. Rice- El arroz no tenia sal. You could get white rice and add ketchup and hot sauce, which would be closer to Mexican rice than what we got. Beans- we decided to skip this, we did not even open the container! Tacos- We ordered the " carne asada " tacos, but instead we got the Tire Rubber ones. It was calorie-carb-free, and the texture was challenging we most likely lost weight chewing it. No salt, adobo, sazon was added, so happy they care so much about my salt intake. My husband and I have wanting to come here for a while and I'm so glad we did! It's really nice inside and makes you feel like you're having a fine dining experience. We started with queso and it's the best we've ever had (and we have tried queso many, many places). The salsa they bring you is a bit spicy, which I love, and the mild they brought for my husband was also delicious with more cilantro and onions than the spicy has. The pricing is phenomenal here! All you can eat lunch special with tacos, soup, salad, etc. for $7.99 (and only $9.99 for dinner). I will say I didn't love the shredded chicken but the taco I had was overall great, which included lettuce, tomato, cheese, and jalapeños on the side. They have other specials, like chimichanga and rice or chicken and rice (like arroz con pollo) that include a soda (Coke products) and sundae for only $8.99. The staff was SO sweet here also. Updated review: Tequila Sunrise has been my go to due to being a convenient location for me, but has turned into a favorite. The extensive menu offers so many flavorful choices. You can get your standard Mexican fare (to which I believe is Americanized like most local Mexican restaurants, with queso available on just about anything). However, they also offer many other more elegant choices, like an array of homemade soups, multiple ceviche choices, and some fantastic margarita flavors you won't find anywhere else - like blood orange. This is a new mexican restaurant in Fishers Station that has been open for several months. The decor is not like your typical mexican restaurant. It has an upscale vibe to it with a black, grey and white color scheme. On the day that we visited, it wasn't super busy and we were seated quickly. Looking over the menu, it is apparent that their menu is not like most mexican restaurants. It's very diverse and had a few unexpected items. We decided on the fajita taco salad for me and the lunch special of tortilla soup and tacos for the hubby. We both liked our entrees. Nothing bad but nothing outstanding. I had ordered my salad with steak but it was served with chicken. No biggie, I still ate it. Our server was attentive and nice as were all other employees that we interacted with. We came back today and the whole experience was horrible. Took a long time for drinks. Took along time for the food to arrive and when it did we were missing two entrees. When she brought them out 5 minutes later she served another table first before bringing the rest of our order. We asked for to go boxes and she didn't bring the number we asked for. Didn't bring our check and never offered to bring our kids desserts that came with the kids meals. We had to ask the hostess for our check in order to pay. Oh, and our food was mediocre at best. I just walked in this restaurant. At 9:35pm, they close at ten. It supposed to be a nice restraint yet the staff as soon as we walk in they roll their eyes give us a dirty look as they whispered under their breath, and then tell us we have thirty minutes and leave. As a prior service man a waiter should never make you feel bad about choosing their restaurant...and we were gonna tip heavy to be courteous of coming close to closing time.
