October 2017 My husband & I just recently began going to this place. So far we've been twice, & it's been excellent both times! The chicken teriyaki is delicious, portions of both meat & rice were generous, & like so many other reviewers, we really enjoyed the salad as well. While it's just iceberg lettuce, the dressing is yummy (on the lettuce as well as the rice), & it's refreshing along with the entree. My husband LOVES their Ton Katsu! According to him, it's the best he's found in Seattle. We also tried the combo chicken & pork teriyaki, which is a VERY big portion (which is good as it's more expensive) - basically it's the regular chicken entree with a half portion of pork added in. I live in Magnolia so it's close by, but even if I didn't, this is some of the best, most consistent teriyaki I've had in Seattle. Their chicken is always perfectly cooked so it's super tender and never dry, the spice in the spicy pork is plenty hot but never completely erases the other flavors, their gyoza are crispy and delicious. All at a super competitive price! I love it. I have only one tiny complaint, which is that their boba isn't super great, but it's not why I'm there, so it's not even enough to drop to four stars. Eventually we'll be moving from Magnolia, but we'll come back for Teriyaki Bowl. read more

I happened to walk by this little restaurant. To my surprise, the food is very good. I really like their teriyaki there. The portion is decent. During my lunch there, I saw the owner sweep floors after customers leave. She keeps the place really clean. It does have quality and value. Okay... this place is a 4/5, but I'm leaning more towards a 3/5. Why? New owners... the old owners used to hook it up with everything including the sauce... more meat... etc. These owners are still nice, but I can't trust this place for a few reasons. The tables are never cleaned. They're always so sticky and they just wipe them, but never clean them. Ugh. Second, I don't trust their free water cups. They smell weird. But before the owners changed I think they gave you more for your money. I got the beef this time, and it was honestly a 1/5. I thought it was kinda nasty. And undercooked. I got their chicken teriyaki and it was good... but tasted a bit rubbery. Not sure what's up with this place. I think they still have really good salad and their asian sauce is good. but I just think the new owners are a bit shiesty and the cleanliness kinda grosses me out. I think their prices are a bit high. I know plenty of places with great prices and great quality. Don't get me wrong. I've been here plenty of times, but I think I'll stop. Oh Teriyaki Bowl, I bask in your convenience of being right on my journey home from work. Your spicy chicken is served both quick and tasty, at a price I can savor. Well I didn't have a bad hangover today and I was craving some seriuos broccoli. This place is really good. I think I prefer it over Sunny Teriyaki. I ordered the #5 spicy chicken and broccoli (1-5 is the choice of spiciness). It came with rice and a small salad. $1.50 more for fried rice but I wasn't in the mood for that so stuck with the original order. The price was nice. $7.98. I left a $1 tip for good karma. I need it now and then. I wish it would have came with more broccoli but my bad for not asking. The chicken is great and I don't think it's as spicy as they made it out to be. It's good though and too much food more me to eat in one sitting!! I also think the nice lady thought I was crazy for asking for the spiciest flavor. Oh and why was Dr. Phil on the little T.V.? Blah! I've been a customer at this teriyaki shop for over 10 years and it's a staple take out stop for both my family and friends. When calling in they almost always have my order ready for pick up within 10-15 minutes, even during lunch and dinner rushes. What is always good: chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, beef short ribs, katsu (with extra sauce), and tempura. What I ate, but will probably never order again: sweet & sour anything, general taos anything, and udon. I absolutely love this place and will continue eating here. With that being said, I am giving them 3 stars due to very slow service when eating in and the inconsistency of quality between certain items on their menu. read more

This would be a five-star review if Teriyaki "Bowl" actually served anything in a bowl. Though my dining companions had a point that you can't really call a place "Teriyaki Styrofoam Plate" and expect people to eat there. I just missed the bowls. As for the food, it was quite good. Definitely more Korean/Chinese than Japanese (though they did have excellent yakisoba). We ordered the teriyaki chicken breast, beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and yakisoba. The meats were very lean and tasty. The teriyaki sauce was deliciously sweet and the sweet and sour chicken was dripping in red sauce. It was a very cheap meal (all that plus egg rolls was $30) and came with free sodas. The portions were really generous too. Definitely enough for leftovers the next day, or to eat all at once if you are completely famished. Do not underestimate the huge portions by their menu pictures! Probably the most surprising thing about this place, was that it was UNBELIEVABLY quick. We walked in, ordered 4 plates of food for take out, and were out the door with food in hand in under 5 minutes. And the food was still super-fresh. Definitely made right then. Live on the street behind the Gilman Ave. location. Haven't been there myself, but my sisters have and always bring back great tasting food. I come here often. Often enough that the girl behind the counter remembers me, anyway. While they claim "Japanese", they're actually more Korean than anything else. I usually get the Short Ribs (it's similar to Bulgogi, just with a small piece of bone and the meat's not as thin), but last time the Hubster and I both got the same dish - Mongolian Beef. Small Fry had just a side order of Teriyaki Chicken (just the chicken, she shared our rice), and we all had Miso Soup and egg rolls. All their meals seem to come with a heaping helping of white rice as well as a veggie salad on the side (consisting mostly of cabbage, carrot and sometimes cucumber) and drink. You honestly can't beat it, especially with it only being 5 minutes from the house. Their seating is small, and while a wheelchair could fit, it would be tight. Great food, great service and lightning fast! I love the lady who works the register, she always greets you with a smile and asks how your day is going. I usually get take-out spicy teriyaki and it takes them about 7 minutes to get your meal prepared. By the time I get their the food is ready, I pay and I'm on my way again. Damn, this caught me off guard. I thought their Chicken Saute would taste like any other place but it didn't! It is amazing, super flavorful and lots of veggies! I love this place! I am a fan of pork teriyaki rather than chicken and they have GREAT pork teriyaki. I also love the salad dressing that comes with the salad, it is really great on rice, so sometimes I ask for an extra one (they do charge a little extra) just to mix it with my rice and pork teriyaki. I've tried the broccoli beef, mongolian beef, gyoza, miso soup, and pork teriyaki. All have been really delicious and I think they really give a good amount of food. Sometimes I think places really cover the teriyaki in sauce and the meal is mostly rice, not here! The sauce is just perfect and the rice isn't the main course. The best kept fast-food secret in Magnolia. Understand, this place is take-out (with a few dine-in tables), and thus all that really matters is the food. The teriyaki and other offerings are delicious however, it is the beef short ribs that are memorable. Spend the extra couple of bucks and treat yourself to one of the most tender, flavorful dishes around. Teriyaki Bowl is pretty much the only place on my way home from work where I can easily get take-out. It's a run-of-the-mill teriyaki place and I probably wouldn't go there as much if it was out of the way. The ladies who work there are extremely nice and remember my order. Points for serving katsu curry, which is not a frequent menu item in Seattle for whatever reason. Wish they did it better, though. They've employed some cost-cutting measures recently. They used to serve these tasty stir-fry vegetables with every meal. Now, everything comes with generic icky iceberg lettuce salad and peanut dressing. Never fear, though, because they'll substitute the stir-fry vegetables if you ask nicely. Second, every meal used to come with a drink from the fridge. No more! $0.75 extra now. :( I blame it on the city mandated switch away from styrofoam containers. Maybe they should open on Sunday to try to make more money. read more

Very friendly and fast service. Just as cheap as Sunny Teriyaki and WAY BETTER! We got General Tso's Chicken and Mongolian Beef with 2 Eggrolls. It was more than enough food for two. Reminds of my dad's food when he had a restaurant in Seattle. I think this is definitely my favorite place around here... Service may be little slow. However, it is because they actually cook their teriyaki when you order instead of pre cooking and keeping it in the warmer. Myabe not the best situation for work lunch but I'll take cook to order teriyaki anytime over fast dried teriyaki. Their portions are HUGE! Spicy chicken is delicious. Moreover, I think it is one of the best restaurants in general in its price bracket. I usually order the chicken breast.
