    10. Garlic Chicken
    Jude A.

I ordered the short ribs with a side of garlic chicken (mild). The short ribs were very flavorful and well-seasoned. The garlic chicken was exceptionally delicious. The accompanying carrots, cabbage, and rice were fresh as well.

4/24/2024 - So I finally got to try this little restaurant for the 1st time: Teriyaki Chicken Express. Address 9110 Kiefer Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95826. The food pictures look so good. We just went through the drive thru. Now... this is just my opinion and my experience. It may be different for others. Cons We got the plate that had double chicken, veggies, and rice. Our chicken was on the very dry side. The rice was kinda hard soft, or so my little one told me. My little one didn't like the rice so didn't eat it. Normally loves eating rice tho. The two sauces we got were watered down and not much flavor, sadly. One was teriyaki and the other was the sweet sauce for the eggroll. We did not like the sauces. So luckily I had my own sauce at home and use that instead. Pros I loved veggies, so the veggies were great! I just had to add a little salt and pepper... and WhaLaa!! Yummy veggies. There is no flavor in the veggies. FYI. My little one liked the sweet and sour pork. Ate that all up. But my little one said the other sweet/sour pork from another restaurant we've been to had much more flavor and much tastier. Conclusion We didn't go inside. So I can't comment on the inside. The drive thru was quick and easy. Large menu outside. The guy that took our orders at the window was nice. Sad chicken was dry, eggroll wasn't very good (had perfect crisp tho), rice on the harder side but still edible, and sauces were watered down so there wasn't much flavor. Good that my little one ate the pork. Veggies were great after I add a little salt and pepper to my liking (I prefer to do that on my own so not to salty). This is just my experience. This is not to put them down. But we weren't too thrill about their foods. Not very tasty. Maybe your experience may be different from mine. But should I ever decide to go here again to give it a 2nd chance, I'll update my review. You should go try them yourself and see how you like them and have your own experience.

Pork and chicken teriyaki rice plate!

A no-frills establishment that has a drive thru! I was on my way home from volunteering at the California Raptor Center and wanted something simple, delicious, and affordable. Teriyaki Chicken Express caught my eye on Yelp and was conveniently in the same direction as I was heading. I ordered at the speaker and in less than 10 minutes, I had my food. I opted for the pork and teriyaki chicken rice plate, and chose the beef and teriyaki chicken rice plate for my husband (I forgot to get a photo of his as we were hungry and it was late). All meats were cooked perfectly, not overcooked but still tender. The veggies were as expected for being steamed and similar to other teriyaki places I've tried in the past. I will say that the meat is of better quality than other places I've gotten teriyaki plates from. There was a good amount of rice underneath too, which we were happy to note. The meat to rice ratio was excellent, as sometimes you get too much rice and not enough meat. The plates came with only one small sauce container each. While sitting at the drive thru, I saw the sign that extra sauce only costs 25 cents extra. I should have snagged extra sauce for both of us, as it would have made the rice more flavorful. I'll get more sauce next time I go, and I would recommend whoever tries Teriyaki Chicken Express to do the same. We had sriracha at home, so we used some to dip the meat in, and it was delicious (pro tip)! With tax, both of our plates came out to $25, which is amazing considering the amount of meat we both got. I would like to try another set of teriyaki plates next time. I did see they offer salmon teriyaki on the menu and that piqued my interest. Overall, don't expect anything mind-blowing. It's healthy, it's tasty (with the right amount of sauce), and it does the job for a good cheap meal that beats paying the same price at McDonald's or another fast food place. PS: In case you live a ways from Sacramento (which we do), as this place isn't really the type where you sit down in, bring a hot/cold bag (I have a Trader Joe's one), and it holds up pretty well in travel. You may need to microwave the food a little, but as far as food safety and texture/taste are concerned, it does just fine compared to say bringing ramen home and reheating it.

Been here long time ago wanted and wanted to check it out again. The food was good, the lil cocky fella behind the register was rude. Just walks away while we're in the middle of ordering. We sat down to eat but the thing that was really annoying was the fact that they had a scent machine that lets out this overwhelming aroma in the whole dinning area. Not to mention that smell was strong and nasty. I dont want to smell scent machines while eating at a restaurant. I want to smell the food thats cooking in the kitchen and the food that was brought out to me. That was the biggest disappointment. Food had a good flavor for the most part. It was served hot. The teriyaki chicken was good with nice grill marks. The garlic chicken was not garlicky at all, it lacked more sauce because it was kinda dry. Not the chicken it self but the actual outer coating of the chicken was dry. I'd go again but i'd get my food to go.

I've been to this place several times for a quick meal or pickup and I've never been disappointed with anything they offer. It's fresh , hot and made to order. The prices are very affordable and they have a drive through. If you love Teriyaki or Pho, or sandwiches they got it . I recommend this place anytime you're looking to get a tasty meal, portions are loaded ..

Shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce

Looking for a Teri spot similar to one from the city I lived in and I've finally found it. Delicious bbq Teri chicken covered in just enough Teri sauce, veggies were crisp and fresh and the rice was perfectly steamed. I also ordered the shrimp spring rolls, shrimps were sliced in half lengthwise. I would've liked whole shrimp but it was still tasty especially when dipped in the peanut sauce. My partner ordered the orange chicken and it was really yummy, light and crispy and just enough sauce to balance. I wanted to eat his meal too lol. The restaurant has drive through and dine in. Looks like the dining area was revamped from the last time I was here, much more inviting. There were a few groups of people eating in, lots of people for pick up and a line in the drive through. Not many places like this in Sacramento that I've found, large portions, fresh food, good value. Will definitely come back again.

Normally we have no issues but they got my order wrong today. Hopefully I can call and get it made right but I already made it home and unloaded my 2 kids so can't just turn around and head back. I ordered the seafood udon soup. Unfortunately didn't get it ‍

The best chicken teriyaki I've had. So juicy, soft and always. I recommend the noodles here too, so good also the yakitori. Clean places, the owners and employees are so nice and kind. Come here 2 or 3 times a week, highly recommended!!!

Part of a strip mall with other retailers and restaurants. Well, it was new to see so many signs posted about watch your cars as there's theft. A complete surprise to me. Guess in the area it a common thing. Anyway, the restaurant itself was decent in size. Plenty of parking available. Sunday and it was mellow in a sense. Still pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. It's not your traditional Chinese dim sum restaurant with the carts walking down the aisle and you picking what you want. Here, they give you the menu and you mark down how many items you want. Both dim sum and traditional dishes are on there. Price wise, it's fairly decent but some dishes were a bit pricey compared to other places. Still worth checking out. Mark what you want on the menu which they then take and dishes are brought out. Of course we had to have the classic. Shu Mai and so on. Bbq pork slices, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, sticky rice in banana leaves, to name a few. The dim sum did come out pretty fast. Classic Chinese dishes like the chow fun did come out a little later as it had to be made. Overall, the food was quite tasty. I do see why my friends did recommend this place. It was a nice crowd of people that was here for brunch. Loads of family enjoying their meal. For our group, the bill came just under 300. They did include gratuities to it which they did inform us. We got a decent amount of dim sum as well as the other dishes. Food was good and service was great. All the staffs were very friendly and sweet. Drinks were refilled pretty fast after asking. Would definitely be back when we're in the area.

Too much cream and the chocolate didn't go well with the crust, which was too salty. While the banana pie hide the bad crust, the chocolate wasn't able to. The service was excellent. Prompt, attentive, and done well. The restaurant itself mimicked a very narrow club/ bar with some tables and dining behind. Felt like a darker and more expensive P.F. Chang's. The bad - the salt and pepper fish had a great batter, but I feel they're battered too much, and the actual fish piece inside is tiny. My house chow mein didn't have a single shrimp in it. Lots of beef, which was good, but the char smell from the beef was the only thing you could taste on the noodles. It's almost like the chef cooked the noodles on whatever the beef was cooked on. The noodles we had ordered from here a month ago had very good flavor, but not a one note beef flavor. There was a lot of beef and chicken in the house chow mein, but zero shrimp means the cook either forgot or they didn't have them and thought it would be ok to add more beef. Either way, I paid extra for my selection, and didn't get it. Am I Pissy? Yes. Am I honest? Also a Yes. 3 stars this trip, probably my last.
