This order at the counter, seat-in small restaurant, near the Hyatt House can get busy during lunch time. I'm quite surprise that it is not the regular sushi place I'm accustomed to but it reminds of NYC's Teriyaki Boy which I like or Boston Market's bowl of rice and chicken. Teriyakin' dishes are simple - a bowl of rice and choice of meat that comes in a bowl and platter and how ever the meat/poultry/shrimp are sauced, marinaded, cut and cooked. Teriyakin' narrates that their food reflects a region in Japan and claims to be a unique dish offering. I love Terriyakin! The sauce tastes very similar to Sakio/Sarku Japan (the place in mall food courts), but with MUCH better quality meat.

I normally like their food but have never orders the teriyaki before. I got the chicken teriyaki and shrimp this time. Don't do it. The chicken taste like canned meat and the sauce tasted like gravy. I wouldn't have a big issue but when I sent an email asking if I can bring it back I was told yes. Once I got here the gentleman started yelling at me and put some a side of chicken in a container and shoved it at me. I tried to explain I have never had the teriyaki and all I wanted was something different. He wasn't hearing it. I've been here twice now, both times the food and service were great! My order was the chicken and veggie bowl with all white meat for a $1 more. While the small is more than enough for lunch, the large was easily two meals for me. They have a 99 sanitation rating which is awesome for a semi germaphobic person, and it's the highest I've seen at such a hole in the wall kind of place. read more

Nice pictures taped to the counter showed other choices, so I picked a curry dish from the picture set. I was told the place is to busy (18 people there including us). I need to pick something else. This food can not be prepared when it is busy. Really, 18 people is busy? Nothing mentions that on the pictures. Now that is the first that I ever heard that. So I got my usual steak bowl. Was 2$ cheaper then what I wanted to get. If they can't be bothered to cook the food they show on the menu and pictures, I can't be bothered to go back. read more

Wouldn't have known this place was here but for the yelp reviews. Decided to give it a try. It was busy at lunch, I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for my to-go order. I got the combo bowl. Plenty of food, good flavor. But it is closer to the food court than to a Kanki. If it was $7 for lunch instead of $10, I would have no reservations about going back. I will likely go again, but I doubt I will become a regular. read more

I went there for a quick bite around dinner time one night.. I got some chicken and steak rice bowl thing that was pretty good. I am in love with this place..reminds me of some really good teriyaki places in little tokyo in los angeles and in japan..I have yet to find a decent teriyaki place in durham till I found this place..This is a bit of a drive but am very happy to drive to get some realistic japanese food..I cannot find a japanese restaurant here that serves an okinomiyaki..I used to live in japan and used to order this all the time..also my mother can make this meal and hers is just a little bit better but hey all mom's cooking is always better,,I loved their gyoza it is just like how i order it in japan.not too fried and is also steamed and delicious,I have also eaten their yakisoba and that is very tasty although i can cook a mean yakisoba this was almost as good as mine..I can honestly say I recommend this place and they have a new fan for sure and i will be coming back again and again..Did I mention they also serve japanese beer asahi super dry which is only the best japanese beer ever..I also like the fact that it is a family owned place and they are all very friendly..My new favorite place for sure and it is tough to replace chubbys tacos as my fave but this sure does..Cannot wait to try everything there..They even have a unagi bowl (which is cooked eel over bed of rice). read more

Really not impressed. Got the steak meal. A lot of rice and not that much steak. Good food but not a good value for the price. I don't know if the macaroni salad is a Japanese thing, but kind of odd. I realize now the sauce was for the shredded cabbage. Not bad if someone else is buying. read more

We really like this place. Tried it on a GroupOn and really glad we did. We rated it a 5 in comparison to other small, quick bite restaurants. It is not a fancy restaurant, but it's great for lunch or very casual & quick dinner in a new, clean place. Food was great both times we went. I had the chicken and steak platters which come with sides of salad & way delicious ginger dressing & really good macaroni salad - strangely good as I don't typically care for mac salad. Also, the sauces for the meat are delicious too. OK, so I could do without the japanese music videos - MAKE...IT...STOP. The food comes out so very fast it's mind blowing. Lunch specials are very well priced and is very tasty. They over a few different sauces table side which are all very good. The rice bowls are delicious and a great deal, they may not be enough for the hungry eater but grab an appetizer to round it out. read more

Ordered the chicken and vegetable plate for lunch today. Did not love the chicken to rice ratio (4 parts rice to 1 part chicken). It was about a 10 minute wait for take out during the lunch hour rush. Also, there was no waiting area so people just hovered around diners as they were waiting for their food. My husband and I thought we would give this restaurant a try after seeing the yelp reviews. We arrived around 7:30 p.m. (Saturday night) and there was no one in the restaurant. we ordered steak with rice and veg. in curry sauce with rice. As mentioned in a lot of reviews, the portions are skimpy, but the food was very good. I had a few veg. in the curry sauce. I think I counted 2 slices of potatoes, a couple peas, a slice of a carrot and a couple kernels of corn. However the Curry sauce was delicious. My husband's beef was very tender but hardly any beef on top of the rice. Because the portions were so skimpy, we probably won't return since we were still hungry when we left. read more

My family and I can honestly say Teriyakin is our favorite restaurant. We eat there at least once a month. If we lived closer it would be more often. This is the only restaurant where we all clean our plates. There's no leftovers to take home. We are not into Sushi and would only go to the fancy Sushi restaurants to get teriyaki. Teriakin's teriyaki puts them all to shame. After our first visit to Teriyakin we have never been back to one of those Sushi restaurants. The food is real delicious Japanese food. Not some knock off Chinese or Korean Japanese food. Please go and try it. I know you'll be back for more. read more

Come here for lunch with a friend often, and I always get the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Delicious, fast, and consistent. I add a little cup of the white sauce. For about $6, it's a good quick meal! read more

This place is legit. As I was on my way home picking up pita bread from Neomonde up the street (I'm South-Asian, we have bread or rice with every meal), I was glad I decided to forgo the Mediterranean for dinner because I just wasn't feeling it that night. Luckily, Teriyakin' popped up as I was approaching 540. I had driven past this spot numerous times and vowed to try it out after reading the yelp reviews, and surely....tonight was the night. I went in and ordered a chicken bowl to go. When I got home I had a voracious appetite and was ready to sit back and watch some NBA. The chicken was grilled to perfection, soft, tender, and juicy. The sauce was what essentially distinguishes it from other joints that serve chicken teriyaki. And finally, the white sticky rice.....perfect. I made sure to get some hot sauce and sweet sakuri sauce to douse the entree, and probably finished the bowl in record time. I will definately be back here, and love supporting local businesses that serve quality food......ya digz? read more
