Very disappointed! Scheduled a fumigation for Tuesday morning which required vacating the house for two nights. After making reservations at a local hotel I was informed that the fumigation had to be rescheduled for Wednesday morning. Then it was rescheduled again for Wednesday afternoon. When I returned home on Friday after the tenting was removed I discovered that a large clay pot on my patio had been shattered. Also my gas grill had apparently been knocked over. Parts of the grill were scattered over the yard and the inside parts of the grill had just been thrown back inside and the lid shut. Lots of plants were trampled around the patio area. Plants that were more than 6' from the house and should not have been effected by the tenting process. read more

They erased the charges that never should have been there in the first place. But hey, it only cost me 10 hours over a few weeks. I definitely don't have anything better to do. Poorly conducted inspection, refused to replace damaged facia even though they reported damage in estimate and charged us to replace; after calling them and requesting a revisit of these issues, nothing. I have tried to contact the local Rep Victor Sealey to sort out the excessive charges on my 80 year old mothers recently signed contracts for a week with no success. I have spoken with Brandon at the National Terminix number who was very helpful and told me that he had spoken to Victor in the field who promised to call us back (that was 4 days ago). Next day found the SD direct Terminix number and spoke with Felicity who was very professional and she left a note for Victor to call me and my mother back but he has not (that was 3 days ago). Called this morning to address the charges and was put into an automatic message system that CLEARLY DOESN'T work based on my experience and the other yelp reviews. If we can't resolve this issue very soon I'm reporting this company for taking advantage of elders. Horrible company. We subscribed to their annual service for 10 years. When it came time to sell my home I had them do an inspection....no problems found. The buyer wanted to get a second opinion and this company found several problems, many were obvious and were located exactly where Terminix looked. Contacted Terminix and they refused to honor the warranty. Had to work my way up several levels of managers including district managers that took days to days to get attention, all while the escrow clock was ticking. Terminix still declined to honor the warranty. I had them all visit my house along with the second opinion termite company and we walked thru each item. They were still in denial despite obvious live damage. The only thing what woke them up was my threat to go to the California Board and file a formal compliant. We pay an annual fee to have service with them. Over a month ago we called after finding termite droppings. 2 weeks later they sent out someone who didn't "service termites". So we rescheduled and 3 weeks later they sent someone who said he can "schedule the service". I thought we had scheduled it with him! Unimpressed and we won't be renewing our contract. Last year they decided to NOT respond to requests for service. We called, they ignored. We contacted BBB to file a complaint for services not rendered under our contract. The Terminex service manager's response was "if they would prefer not to renew then we will part ways". Ask yourself....is this the kind of treatment you'd want when under contract"? A few years ago, I had termites in my house and separate garage. Terminix advised tenting the house and said that tenting the garage was included in the price. WHen they came out to do the job, they said that I could opt to just have the affected areas in the garage injected, and really could skip on tenting the garage, although it would still be included in the price. Well, I took the guy's advice, had them pass on tenting the garage, and they just did the injections. Months later, when I discovered that the garage was still infested with termites and the injections didn't work, I called Terminix, assuming that they'd be very helpful, since I had a service agreement and guarantee. They refused to do anything more than come out and spot -treat the garage (it didn't work, of course). I had explained to them that their workers had talked me out of tenting the garage (a service that was INCLUDED in the price). The right thing for them to have done would have been to come out and tent the garage as they should have to begin with, free of charge, since I'd already paid for it. They refused. And lost my business and that of my friends, for good. read more

We've used these guys for almost a decade. The tech who comes to our house is always efficient and courteous. We'd never had an issue that required us to call the office until recently. The first two calls were fine and we were told they'd resolved our issue. A week later (almost a month total) we were STILL waiting for the promised action. I called back and was forwarded to a woman who, despite being on the "escalation team" possessed no discernible people skills. I am polite to a fault and was getting upset so I simply asked to be connected to her manager to avoid further contact with her. She refused to transfer me. After four reasonable requests to speak to someone else I made the choice to end our service. It was not a choice made lightly given that we respect our service tech but based on some of the other reviews of their customer service it seems this is standard operating procedure for them. ***** I strongly advise against using this company. The techs who come to your home are wonderful, however, you will (at one point) have to deal with their childish customer service. Save yourself the aggravation and choose another provider. read more

$3,000 Damage to Tile Roof after Terminix Fumigation In Summer 2017 we had our home fumigated by Terminix. After the fumigation the crew foreman informed me that the crew had damaged some tiles on the roof. I asked if Terminix would repair or pay to repair the damages. He declined referring to the contract that explicitly excludes Terminix liability. After a couple of weeks we discovered that rodents (rats) have entered the attic. We had a contractor examine the roof who discovered that over 50 field tiles and about 10 ridge tiles were severely broken and separated. These damages could not have existed prior to the Terminix fumigation because the broken tiles would have let a substantial amount of water through during the long and heavy rains in early 2017. That water would have inevitably entered the attic and eventually the house. However, the house had no water intrusion issues. I had multiple roofing contractors bid on the repairs. The cheapest one was just over $3,000. The most expensive one said we had to replace the entire roof for $30,000 because the tile had been discontinued by the manufacturer. That turned out to be factually correct. The contractor we went with bent over backwards and went from tile yard to tile yard in San Diego county to find the tile. I notified the Terminix' claim department of the damages who after a couple of written exchanges declined to be responsible and pay for the damages. We had been satisfied Terminix pest control customers for nearly 15 years until this point. I acknowledge that I should have read the contract more carefully which was hard to do on a 7" tablet PC the salesperson hands you to sign the contract. The Terminix salesperson tells you everything about how to prepare your house for the fumigation but nothing about this important limitation of their liability: "Care will be taken to avoid damage to the property; plants and trees, lighting fixtures or other items, antennae, weather vanes, chimney stacks, satellite dishes that project from the structure, the roof, roof tiles, solar systems, gutters, and chimneys of the building. However, due to the condition of the chimney, the roof and gutters, their age, or the type of roof and gutters as well as the nature of the work, some damage to the chimney or the roof or its gutters may be unavoidable. Therefore, the undersigned hereby releases Terminix and the fumigator or fumigation contractor from liability for damage which might occur." Something that important should explicitly be pointed out by the salesperson. read more

This is my first review on yelp and I signed up for yelp specifically to write this review. Business is business and sometimes customer service is great and sometimes, not so much. You either choose to stick with a business or move on if you're not happy. I'm not a big complainer about things but I feel like I'm doing a dis-service to others by not writing this down. I called Terminix amongst other companies over the weekend to get a service done and I chose Terminix because they said that they would call me 30 min before they were heading to my house so I could make sure to be home. (I own three businesses and a 5 hour window of time span doesn't work with my schedule) I loved the fact that they could call me and that they fit my schedule and my needs. My window of appt time was on Monday between 12-5pm. I was driving home from work at 4:58 and I saw the Terminix truck leaving my neighborhood. I came home to find a note saying "sorry we missed you, call this number to reschedule." What? No phone call? STILL, not a big deal. I called immediately to reschedule and express my concerns about the 30 min warning phone call situation and that I needed to have a service done before Wednesday (today.) The woman on the phone said that she had no openings until maybe Thursday and if she begged and pleaded with the technicians ,it probably still wouldn't happen. I asked her specifically about my sign up order (which isn't the cheapest around but you get what you pay for usually) and she said, "oh I see a note on the form saying that a 30 min heads up call is needed" and then she proceeded to tell me 100 excuses as to why Terminix technicians might not be able to call the customer, "Their cell phones are company owned and they're not allowed to use them!" STILL, not that big of a deal, but I'm thinking at that point that Terminix probably wasn't the best fit for what I needed. I asked her what the cancellation policy is, considering that they have my credit card on file, and she started to yell at me on the phone. Very unprofessional! I explained to her that I was aware that she was just doing her job and this was not her fault but she didn't seem to care about what I was saying. One of the reasons that I'm writing this review is not so much about my experience but being a general contractor servicing So Cal for 10 years, I have referred Terminix to at least 15 clients for pest problems and I WILL NEVER REFER THEM AGAIN. I understand that certain details may get lost in communication but the fact that I got verbally abused by the lady on the phone is just unacceptable. I have also sent out apology emails to my clients that I have referred to Terminix. Don't use this company! A big name doesn't mean that you will have great service! read more

I would never use Terminix ever again!!! After having Terminix come in for an initial treatment, that didn't even take him 15 min (we have a 2400 sq ft house), we were told that all bugs would be gone within 10 days. At the time we were seeing earwigs, and were concerned because we have a 13 month old that loves to put things in her mouth. The next month there were still earwigs, we called and less than 24 hours later they were back and sprayed again. Not even 3 weeks later we are still having the same problem. We looked at the spray that Terminix uses and the spray you can buy at home depot, and there really isn't much of a difference. I called to cancel, and was PROMISED that a manager would call me on Monday. It's now Wednesday, and no call. I called to cancel with their corporate office, and they really didn't care!! If I could give them zero stars I would! I thought going with a big company customer service would be great but they are no help. I cancelled service and was told I would receive a refund in 3-5 business days. It has now been 8 days and when I called they told an email had been sent to the billing department for the refund to be processed... this was the second time I have been told this. I asked for a number for San Diego office and was told they do not have a number...managers use their personal phones so the company can not give them out. I then asked for an email address... again they don't give them out. I asked to be CC'd on the email traffic and was told they couldn't do that either. What kind of business has NO numbers or email address to give out?? A VERY poor business that's who. Go else where and do not waster your time with terminix. This is the most horrible business transaction I have ever had to deal with!! Update: After posting this Terminix reached out to me and resolved the issue. My experience with Terminix has been awful. Avoid this company at all costs. We have been long-term customers; we have paid a yearly premium for services since 1993 when Terminix bought out Country Wide. I have been attempting to communicate with the San Diego office to get my property tented for over a month with no success. I have been lied to regarding the need for fumigation, and finally upon requesting documentation of the inspection learned the truth. Terminix is still refusing to tent the property despite the terms of the contract for complete care of our property against termites. The inspector called for fumigation but the manager insists to do a less costly and less effective treatment instead. All documentation has been provided to the San Diego office. Their termite inspection consisted of the inspector lecturing me on what the State of California requires them to do, tenting w/fumigation. I inquired about other options and apparently Terminix, or at least their representative that showed up to do the inspection, does not want to pursue or discuss other options. Their web sites says they will work with customers, the inspector must not have seen that. Never looked at anything (an inspection without any inspecting done). Wasted my time and theirs. I cannot give Terminix any stars. They killed my cats. They stormed in my home earlier than expected on the date of the tenting, started yelling at me, and within minutes had the house tented. They scared the cats into hiding. When a cat is frightened and doesn't want to be found, the cat won't be found. After searching for the cats for 3 hours they said they couldn't wait anymore and they turned on the gas even though I was screaming and crying. They said they saw the cats run out. They told me they would remove the tent at noon on a Thursday so I was there at 10:00 am and they were in my home without my permission. They also said there was no sign of the cats. Terminix has since told me that my cats are in fact gone and they are seeing what they can do about it. I'm thinking about getting a lawyer. read more

DO NOT EVER USE TERMINIX!!It started with Terminix sub contracting our job out. On the day of the tenting a company other than Terminix showed up. We let them do the job because thankfully we knew the technician, we were never told this would be sub contracted out. That day they withdrew money from our account without permission. The day the tent came off we went in the house and had an infestation of ants, which we never had a problem with before. We repeatedly made calls to Terminix and received no calls back for over a week. Today we received a call from their inspector Ignacio, who told us he heard we have some complaints. After speaking to him on the phone he told us he was coming over, we told him not to. A short while later he showed up and tried to walk into our backyard, when our dog stopped him. We went out to ask him to leave, he refused became very combative, pushed our son, when we had to call the police to remove him. This man was very disturbed and needs anger management. This company repeatedly misses appointments and sends technicians that are unprepared to perform the necessary services. We've had annual inspections every year for 30 years. The inspectors for 2014 and 2015 reported no infestation. The June 2016 inspector found massive subterranean and dry wood termite infestation. Obviously, the previously inspectors didn't do a thorough inspection. The findings from June 2016 remain untreated. It's impossible to call the local office. I am having a hard time even giving them one star... They came to my home and my two large sons were there.. they told them to get out and yes I understand that they have to leave, but they could have assisted the person doing the work to move the box spring rather than what he did which was drag it across my bed frame and take some gouges out of my frame .... they just sprayed as little as possible. When I called the supervisor was going to call me back.. a week later I asked the property manager what happened and I was told they were coming the next day to check on it.. to see if they did a good job... The original sales person was nice, but the supervisor showed up and was cocky, rude and justified everything that happened. I tried to call their customer service line just to find out when the person was coming because I wanted to be there. They wouldn't help me or put me through to the San Diego office, customer service would not let me speak to a supervisor or give me a phone number... STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS.. THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WORK ... they will verbally attack you if your upset with them. I made a follow up and I've done multiple calls at TERMINIX AT: 858-268-0231 and they just put as on hold or either transferring us here and there not getting us any further to help. This contractor Inspected our home by DANIEL BENNER License No: FR49338 came to my home and did the HOME INSPECTION. We paid him cash but did not provide us the correct INSPECTION REPORT that I needed. This create so much problem by asking this TERMINIX FIELD REP and keep calling him in his BUSINESS CARD he gave us the NO#: 619-861-6388. He never returned our calls and it's over a week that we been dealing with this TERMINIX REP and customer services could not help us because DAN BENNER did not turned in the INSPECTION REPORT TO TERMINIX OFFICE and didn't even let us signed the report as a client and the cash payment has not been mentioned or annotated on the report so TERMINIX thought that we didn't pay the inspection! Dan Benner is very unprofessional, money hunger, and bad guy in TERMINIX company. I dealt with TERMINIX in 2013 for TENTING FUMIGATION and the Field Representative name: JOSE (Papa) ESTRADA is way better than DAN BENNER by processing reports formatted legibly and efficient. DAN BENNER committed fraudulent, bogus reports by adding words that is not typewritten in the original reports after we had filed complaint. He is a scam and not reliable. He was dealing with my husband as Retired Veteran 20 years in the NAVY and as a DISABLED served this country. He got our cash payment pocketed the money and never returned our calls. We asked his sales manager if he could return our money WE paid that is useless report due to sloppy job processed by DAN BENNER that is not acceptable with fraud/bogus t reports. We are not satisfied with his services due to his rudeness, unprofessional and money hunger. DAN BENNER TOLD us that he does not accept check or credit card and its only CASH! This causes so much problem because the incorrect home inspection reports provided was not signed by this FIELD REPRESENTATIVE TECHNICIAN and didn't provide our signature in the report as a customer. In order for us to get this squared away is to call another HOME INSPECTION SERVICES who does inspection reports with reasonable prices and I can register for annual membership with outstanding services as valuable customer. I advice to look around somewhere out there have a better services they can provide not this customer services at TERMINIX. Outstanding work! Gerardo O (Ocher?) and his team were timely, efficient and professional. A gas detection alarm installed which alarms, if the house tent seal is breached provided home safety. Gerardo inspired further confidence by assuring us that he was sole caretaker of our house key during tenting process. We were present when his team returned to remove the tent. Gerardo has an amazingly fascinating coherent team. Oh, and wow what a guy, Caleb Castellanos, field representative. He thoroughly explained the process and answered our questions. This company cannot get out of its own way. I know = I have had multiple contractS with them for well over 10 years. Before they were purchased, you could deal directly with the local office in Escondido. Everything worked well, except for one inspector a few years ago who lied about treating some facia board outside the residence (about 8 years ago). This was for a rental residence and I check it on a regular basis when doing repairs = he lied - fortunately he no longer works for them. Had them treat for subterranean termites. 1. they sent someone out to inspect to see if what I found was really an infestation (it was). Took 7 days to show up. 2. when I tried to schedule treatment, they scheduled a 2nd person to "review" the infestation (a manager, I think. his approval to treat was apparently required) = another 10 days shot. 3. scheduled a treatment for around the whole residence. they only treated about 75% of the way around the residence. another 10 days shot. 4. when I pointed out that they had left a 25% entry/exit route under our residence and had not treated around an area that has wood support structure, they treated that area. another 10 days shot. 5. they finally scheduled a worker to repair the wood area seriously destroyed by the termites. the work was done well in the front of the garage. he knocked down the mud tubes running up the wall at the front of the garage. another 7 days shot 6. he also knocked down the tubes in the rear of the garage behind the washer/dryer area. no time lost = happened to be there 7. when I asked him about repairing the stud in the wall (8 foot sheet rock coverage for fire protection) that had obviously been seriously attacked, I was told "WE DON'T LOOK FOR DAMAGE" so no, he would not repair any "real damage". Soooooo....... the warranty is bogus... Today I had a scheduled appointment from 1-3 pm to treat 2 simple termite infestations of 2 different sections of facia... 1. I called scheduling at 12 = yes, scheduled, correct address = we will have him call your cell phone 2. called scheduling at 2:30 = yes, scheduled, I will send him a message to call you when he is on his way to the property 3. called scheduling at 3:30 = demanded to speak with a "supervisor". After a 5 minute wait for the supervisor to call the local office, she came back on the phone saying "the Escondido office will call you back to reschedule for tomorrow" Sooooo........ "Hello, Yelp!" Oh, by the way.THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THEY HAVE SHOWED UP AT THE WRONG ADDRESS OR NOT SHOWED UP AT ALL!!! I own 2 rentals under contract in addition to our residence. Every time they do not show up for a rental appointment, I am inconvenienced (need to block out the time) and if it is inside I then have a pissed off tenant. Terminix filtered my true review of Terminix. My house was burglarized of over $5000 of items during tenting which Terminix promised that it would never happen. Only Terminix knew how the security was set up in the house, yet we were conveniently burglarized. I've had a termite pest control contract with Terminix for over 10 years, for both conventional and subterranean termites. So I spent over $5000 for them to come out once a year and say everything was fine. When my tenant said he saw termite droppings I had them come out again and showed them what he saw. The inspector was only able to detect what I pointed out to him, as I was at the appointment. When my tenant came home later, he showed me many more droppings that somehow the termite inspector missed. I decided to have 2 other companies come out to inspect my place and they both saw more evidence of infestation and both said I should have my place tented. Terminix would only spot treat the garage and drill holes in the house. By then I didn't trust Terminix anymore, so I had the house tented for $1200. What a waste of the $5000 treatment plan. After the annual termite inspection in February 2015, the technician announced that there was past water damage under the main bathroom, and that there was FUNGAS. Cost:$750, though he didn't put it in writing. He also didn't offer any proofs of evidence. After contacting both a plumber and an independent contractor, photos were taken of the questionable area, and There Was NO FUNGAS! Essentially, the Terminex technician LIED to me, and was attempting to defraud me! I called and complained loudly. I was told I would get a credit, which never happened. HOW ARE THEY STILL IN BUSINESS?! Let me add to the long list of NEGATIV reviews. On Monday 7/15 I scheduled an inspection appointment for the next day. I was told Steven would be at the house between 1-3p. When 3p passed and no Steven, I called the 855 number and spoke to Jenny. After not being able to locate Steven, she tells me I was not even on the schedule. (Took time off work for nothing!) She rescheduled me for 7/19 from 3:30p-5:3p. But....at 4:30p on the 16th VICTOR shows up at my door and apologizes for being late. He said he tried calling me. (There were no missed calls or vmsgs on my phone) I ask if he was going to do the inspection, he said no because he was actually on his way home (then why did he even bother coming over?) I told him what happened about the scheduling and he tells me that he WILL BE at the house on the 19th at 3p. He said if I get a call on Thursday from another inspector, I could say that Victor was already scheduled to come over. Thursday goes by, no call from anyone. Friday about 1:30p I text Victor to confirm that he was still coming over. No reply. At 4:25p I get a call from CALEB who said he was on his way and should be at the house by 5. He shows up (the ONLY positive part of this review) I showed him a spot in the kitchen that I thought could be signs of termites and also a spot in my window sill in my room. He looked at both and said yes, we have termites. That was pretty much the extent of his "inspection". He also went in the back yard and pointed his laser measuring thing at the patio cover, but that was it. He didn't check the attic, the outside of the house, or anything else in the house. He just looked at the 2 areas that I told him about. He mentioned spot treating and I said since it had been years since the house was tented, that I would probably want to go that route. I don't know if he didn't look at anything else because I mentioned tenting vs spot treating, but is that the norm? (I'll find out when I go with a REAL company!) I asked for an inspection report but he said there wasn't really anything to give me. I asked if there was anything in writing that he could give me and he wrote up a $2400 estimate. There's no way in the world I'd give Terminix $2400 or even $24. Just getting someone to the house for an inspection was already difficult and after reading all of the other NEGATIVE reviews, no way would I waste my time saying yes to them. I have been a TERMINIX customer for over 10 years. Technician was scheduled on Sep 4th and failed to show up. No calls received. On Sep 8th I called to reschedule service for Sep 11th and was told no appointments available but a tech can be at your house on Sep 9th between 4pm and 6pm, so appt was scheduled and I rearranged my schedule to accommodate their schedule. On Sep 9th I called Terminix 4 hours prior to my scheduled 4pm appt and was told "Tech is on schedule and will be at your house just a few minutes after 4pm". I left work early to make sure I was home by 3pm in case tech was early (as has occasionally happened in the past). I waited until 6:30pm and tech never showed up nor did I receive a call. At 6:30pm I called Terminix and was told, "I do not phone number for the tech nor is there any notes in the system indicating why he did not show up as scheduled. I will send a message to the branch manager to contact you and provide an explanation and reschedule tech for following day." Here I am still waiting to here from a manager!!!! This is not the first time I have had trouble with tech's showing up as scheduled. Based on the reviews I have read ... doubtful I will here from a manager or see a tech anytime soon. I don't know how a company with such poor customer service stays in business read more

Just called them to schedule a home inspection and the customer service agent was incredibly rude and short. She was annoyed with any question I asked and would just spit out partial information and when I asked her to clarify she would sound exasperated. So I said thanks but no thanks. If that's how my interaction with this company was going to start I had no interest in proceeding. read more

Terminix has awful customer service. People don't show up even when the schedule was confirmed. They do not return phone calls or emails. My annual payments for the past 15 years was a complete waste of money. I want to file a complaint with the BBB, the Terminix is not a member. I will be filing a complaint with the State Structural Control Board. read more
