Service here is absolutely horrendous! We sat for 17 minutes before anyone greeted our table or brought water. In the meantime, the next table received 2-3 baskets of bread and glasses of water immediately. They sat down after us! We noticed other tables automatically receiving more baskets of bread, while we got nothing. The only thing that keeps Terra in business is the proximity to the entrance of Pageant of the Masters. I regret tipping anything, but the server is in front of me when closing out the check. It was a young lady, who served us. I wouldn't return for free, as this was the worst experience l. read more

This is a great choice if you're at the Festival of Arts or Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. It's the last day for the Pageant of the Masters 2024. We got an early reservation at 6:00, so it would give us plenty of time to enjoy the food and the weather before the show. I'm surprised at some of the feedback on the yelp reviews, I thought the food was pretty good. The restaurant is located at the top of the walkway so passed all of the music goers and picnickers. You check in at the left side of the restaurant. Jennifer was wonderful and took care of us. We started off with the meatballs and hummus. They came out super fast. The cocktails.. not as fast. We decided to order our entrées, thinking it would take a while. We hadn't even started. Our appetizers went out, became our entrées, which were the shrimp and pasta, the lamb shank, and the chicken. Actually, everything was perfect, but it just came out too fast, and we end up eating our entrée before our appetizer. So we're to the wise, tell them to hold off on the entrée until you're done with the appetizer or, order them later. However, I am glad that we got our entrées early because towards the middle of the evening they ran out of food being it was the last day of the season. We ordered dessert and coffee. We probably could've skipped dessert. It was very decadent and very big, enough for three people to share. It actually was over indulging. The coffee, was terrible. Lukewarm and made by someone who is probably not a coffee drinker. It was sludge. We left the restaurant with plenty of time despair for the show, I believe it was almost 8 o'clock, and the show started at 8:30. read more

The food was delicious and service was friendly. We were there right when they opened to enjoy before the dinner rush. This was my boyfriend's first time at Festival of Arts and my first time back in over 10 years. We were sat at a table overlooking the art vendors and we were the only party for a long while. This was perfect... Until the yellowjackets and bees showed up! Things were fine when our drinks and fried calamari were brought out, but my boyfriend ordered the chicken and when that came out, so did the yellowjackets. The bee eventually gave up, but one yellowjacket, sometimes more, crashed our dinner and I felt so bad for my boyfriend. Thankfully, the yellowjacket was not interested in my delicious salmon, but to see my boyfriend uncomfortable made me uncomfortable and I wish staff was able to do more than give us a lame back-up candle that kept blowing out in the wind. Despite the quiet chaos, my boyfriend still chose to order dessert when I was willing to skip it. Of course, who came back? The uninvited winged one, constantly getting in our way of the dessert. I only managed three spoonfuls of crème brûlée for myself while my boyfriend persevered and ate the rest, all the while the yellowjacket shamelessly helping itself to a dessert buffet and spa. I had low expectations before coming to dinner but apparently didn't set them low enough. I ordered the shrimp scampi as it was the most popular dish and recommended by the wait staff. I ended up waiting 45 minutes before getting my food and the rest of the table was already done eating their meal by the time I got my dish. As you can see in the picture attached, the noodles were dry (like when you have pasta sitting out too long) and the cheese was congealed indicating the dish was probably sitting around for quite awhile before it got to the table. The dish was lukewarm and the shrimp was overcooked as well. I would've sent it back but was worried it would take another 45 minutes and I would've missed the show. This was disappointing because the restaurant is advertised as fine dining. You can get better quality at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill for half the price. The dish was $38. However, the location was excellent (though the music was a little loud) and the view was nice as the restaurant is located on the second story. This restaurant is convenient as it is located near the entrance to the Pageant of the Masters show. But if you have adequate time before the show, I would suggest going to another restaurant in the area or bring your own picnic. read more

Wedge salad most definitely had blue cheese dressing, not green goddess (feel bad for you Dennis who got green goddess), got the check within 45 minutes of sitting and food took only 16 minutes after ordering (sorry Alan G). Regardless, people may have had bad experiences in the past, but currently this restaurant doesn't deserve 3 stars. It just doesn't. Recommend getting the meatballs and the hanger steak. We've been coming to Pageant of the Masters on and off for 25 years. The last time we ate there it was still Tivoli Terrace. The food had been decent. We brought guests with us from out of state this time (July 2025), and decided to eat on site again, although there are now new owners. The service was extremely slow. Our waitress was friendly, but we rarely saw her. When we did get our food it was lukewarm. The quality wasn't meeting expectations, which weren't that high. And we didn't request for it to be remade because we would have missed the beginning of the show. We had eaten a light lunch earlier at the Sawdust Festival, and it was better than our dinner. We won't be going back for a third chance. I do know it gets incredibly busy there in the 1-2 hours before the show, but that's not unexpected any year. And I might have overlooked the lack of flavor if the food had been hot, but it wasn't. To anyone else, please consider a restaurant in Laguna. There are excellent choices. If not, the Sawdust Festival is pretty good for a "quick bite" type of meal. read more

Very disappointed. My family had dinner at Terra last week before the show. Our waiter started out good but something shortly shifted. We were constantly being overlooked and had to beg for his attention. He would be at the table next to us and deliberately look the other way as he passed our table. Something strange happened when the bill came. He processed my payment and then said I will get the receipt and will be right back. Several minutes passed and I could see him with another member of the wait staff. He then came back to the table saying that the payment didn't go through and needed me to scan my card again. He was saying that his device was offline and he didn't know it. I assumed that he was being truthful and presented my card. This time he did bring my receipt. Interesting that I received 2 charges from my bank, but were processed on different dates. The first scan was showing an effective date 2 days after it was presented and the second one was showing the correct date. I contacted them and at first they were going to take care of it immediately. A few days passed and I called again. The person this time said well the manager said he refunded the one charge although they weren't seeing 2 scans. I offered to show my bank information when she replied I will have to get with the manager and I will be in touch. Well no call back, so unfortunately going to have to get my bank involved. This is ridiculous and they lost my business going forward. At this point feeling totally scammed. read more

Based on reviews we knew not to expect much, but the convenience of eating at the Pageant venue and the time crunch caused us to throw out wisdom and try it anyway. There were four in our party and we each ordered something different and left fed. The support staff were mildly attentive. There was live music when we arrived and the setting is lovely and, as I said, convenient, especially when driving such a distance. Not sure we will try this again. Solid 3 stars. read more

I waited about 24 hours to write this review, as we were treated very poorly at this restaurant. Background: in my teens/early twenties I was a Sushi Chef, Caterer, and Server. I am very familiar with restaurant procedure, and give a lot of leeway to restaurants. With that being said, we booked our reservation at 7pm knowing we wanted to attend the Pageant of the Masters at 8:30pm. Giving ourselves a full hour and a half to dine and enjoy. Upon arrival, we noted the restaurant wasn't as busy as we thought it would be. We were sat at a 4 top (just my husband and I) which I thought was great. We looked around and noticed a lot of empty tables, and decided to take our leisurely time ordering drinks, then appetizers, and then entrees. Well, we sat for about 15-20 mins before being approached by our server. I explained I was pregnant and would prefer a mock-tail. Her immediate comment was laughter and "sure if you want to spend $10 on mint water." My husband and I looked at each other and said, yes please. We also decided to put in for appetizers as we had been sitting for a bit. The appetizers came out reasonably fast, which we thought, "Wow, very nice!" and then we realized we were served the table that was sat before us, THEIR appetizer. From there it was all down-hill. Server came back to bring drinks. Then rushed off, and didn't come back for over 30 minutes. We had to flag her down to get our entrees in as we were starting to cut it quite tight on time. We waited and waited, and nothing came out, and again no server. We finally flagged down a busboy to check on our order and we overheard the kitchen exclaim there were only tickets for dessert. They scrambled to throw our meal together and got it to us, with less then 15 mins till show time. My husband ordered a simple burger and fries to save on time, and I ordered a more elaborate seafood and pasta dish. Well, his fries were cold, soggy and extremely salty, burger was sloppily made and thrown together (no spread, dry bun, and lifeless lettuce). My seafood was cold and at the bottom of a heap of very al-dente pasta. No one came to ask how it was, and we had to get a box for my pasta (figured it might taste better once warm and re-heated), and our check from the bar, so we could quickly get to our seats. I was apprehensive about dining here after reading some of the negative reviews. So while I wasn't expecting much, it actually was quite nice. One of our "good" choices was dining at 5:30 (the show started at 8:30). We were there before the mad rush. I really do give credit to the wait staff and cooks who know they will be smashed and will have to rush to ensure the guests are out in time for the show. And there were a lot of wait staff. My partner was laughing that there was one girl whose only job was bringing bread to the table. Every time a new table was seated, she was there with her basket of bread and plate of butter. The restaurant is open air and quite large. When we first entered it really wasn't crowded but by the time we left there were many more people. Despite the heat wave, it was nice. No real need for air conditioning. One of the few times I didn't mind not being seated indoors. We weren't rushed and were able to eat and enjoy our food. read more

This was our third trip, first since Covid. The food was decent, even though some of the sides weren't as advertised. We know we're paying more for convenience and it is a menu meant for quick distribution, which is where the disappointment came. We had a 615 reservation, expecting to be done about 730 (wasn't very crowded, we were a party of 4) to be able to wander before the show. We were working hard to pay the bill at 815. And others around us were able to have about the hour service we were planning on. The table next to us seated later, was also 4, and ordered the same types of food (drink, appetizer, dinner, dessert). They were gone not long after 730. The biggest problem is that it is service by committee. That can be great, unless everyone on the committee thinks that the other person is helping you. This results in neither. Our drinks were 18 minutes (!) from order to delivery (and 6 minutes from seating to ordering). And then when they were delivered, a duplicate was delivered about one minute later. We declined them, and I think they just tossed them. No wonder the bar is behind if they are making orders twice! They physically looked flustered over there, and again it wasn't that busy. Taking orders for Appetizers was AFTER drink delivery (the person delivering drinks is not an order-taker), and then dinner well after that. Food delivery was fairly fast after order, but getting someone's attention to order was tough. I sat at the end with my wallet out and card out, my wife already getting a head start to the show, and was passed by about 8-9 times. Finally just held my card in the air and someone came to take my payment. That was almost 20 minutes. Just a rough go, in general. read more

We brought my mom down to see Pageant of the Masters and she has mobility issues so we know that there would be minimal walking Given this restaurant is directly inside the Pageant grounds made it an easy choice Salads were standard but probably the best part of the meal. Mr & I chose the only veggie option which was eggplant and broccolini. Both were super tough, hard to cut through & had a heavy smoky flavor. Mom had the salmon & said it was dry Desserts were unmemorable.......and they made sure to chase us away from the table after 1 hour. Against my better judgement, we decided to eat here before the Pageant vs. any of the wonderful establishments in Laguna. The only saving grace here is the location next to the Pageant. The food was incredibly mediocre; in fact it literally took 30 seconds to arrive after ordering so it was obviously mass produced. My risotto tasted completely uncooked which the waitress then argued with me was "Al dente". I sent it back which I never do because it was not cooked and inedible. The 2nd dish of vegan pasta was not any better. I cut my losses. The dessert wasn't good either. Upon paying with credit card, my mom tapped the "no tip" because she wanted to leave cash. The salads were great, and the portion size was enough for a meal or to share as an appetizer. We ordered 3 different desserts to share (crème brûlée, cheesecake and sorbet) and they were great. There were 6 in our party going to Pageant of the Masters and we came to eat early, so were not in a rush. The service was good, though there were a few things lacking..they didn't have lemonade (though it was on the menu) or fresh cracked pepper for the salad (though there was pepper on the table). Overall, the restaurant was nice and clean. We have enjoyed this restaurant through the years as part of our "Pageant night out" and the food choices were not as good this year as they have been in all the prior years. Was attending the Pageant of the Masters. If you're in there and don't want burgers and such, this is the only formal restaurant. Sort of a captive-audience thing, right? First, food. Not bad. Salmon was over salted. Heirloom rice was good though. I don't want to be too hard on the service because the server specifically told us he was new. However, it took a long time to take our orders. Then, when paying for a chicken dish that was supposed to be $27 and for a salmon dish that was supposed to be $36, we were charged $49 for each dish. Do review your bill before paying. Anyway, we noticed it and had it changed to the proper menu prices. However, that took awhile because it required manager approval. The delay in taking our order and then the pricing snafu caused us to cut it unnecessarily close to curtain time. read more

This was like having a 5* dinner in a tree house!  That's the best way to describe our wonderful experience, and there were 35 of us. The ambiance and service was suburb, the food phenomenal.  Dora, Ramon & Wex were at their best and exceptional hosts, as all our meals were delivered in flawless synchronization.  I brought a group of 35 people before to the Pageant of the Masters, these gals ate, drank, laughed and praised me profusely for my incredible choice in this restaurant.  My lamb shank was so tender it just fell off the bone, the cauliflower mash it came with was unique and delicious.  The salmon, which was a top choice made a beautiful presentation, and the gals cleaned their plates, there was even a dish for our vegetarians available. After reading the reviews prior to my reservation, I was a little alarmed, but coming from a long line of restaurateurs and knowing how when a new restaurant opens, it normally takes a few weeks to iron out the kinks that are expected to be encountered. I called and spoke with management about the issues, but they were already aware of all the new challenges they had to work with and promised me that they were on top of everything, and I had no need to worry.  Boy, were they right, they took all criticism to heart and perfected all the issues!!! This restaurant has not only ironed out any kinks mentioned in previous reviews, but they exceeded all our expectations and delivered the most delicious meals, seasoned to perfection with impeccable service and a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy. The remodeling is just lovely, and not only did I make another reservation for 40 people for my "theater-foodie" group the night we have tickets at the Laguna Beach Playhouse, but one of the gals decided to have her daughter's wedding shower here.  I highly recommend this restaurant, it truly has it all and blew us away with how wonderful the evening flowed and how we made it to the pageant with time to spare.  Even their wine menu had something for everyone and great wine and mixed drink choices were made, but I loved their house cab.  Thank you again Dora, Ramon & Wex for taking such great care of us, and making my group so happy wanting to go back here and making me look so good!!! read more

A group of us go to the Pageant every year. It is a fun outing and we usually try to have a nice dinner before the show. In past years, we have gone to Terra Laguna Beach. It's on the grounds and while a wee bit pricy, the food has always been worth it. Until this year. Three of us ordered the Risotto Primavera. It was inedible, incredibly undercooked and we sent it back. the second attempt was not much better. It had NO flavor and we found ourselves heavily salting it to make it palatable ( My husband who tasted it said it reminded him of oatmeal and I had to agree) We ate it, because it was late, we were hungry and time was short. My husband's shrimp scampi was overcooked but tasty enough. One of us had the lamb shank which she said was delicious. One out of five good plates is not great odds. All three of us who had the risotto had unpleasant aftereffects. Service was attentive, but we will be rethinking our options next year. read more

I'm blown away by all of the people on here that give this place a 5 star rating. Is this the first time you've ever been to a restaurant? My girlfriend and I had dinner here 2 nights ago before the Pageant. The bill after tip was $155 for a less than mediocre meal. We each had one cocktail, a small dinner salad which was included with the meal, and an entrée. I had the Short Rib. It was one small piece of dried out tasteless meat on a plate with nothing else accompanying it I love short rib, but in this case I left at least half of it uneaten. Girlfriend had the shrimp scampi pasta which was OK. Another thing I didn't like (and i know I'm being petty) is that when it comes time to pay the server walks up with one of those hand held electronic payment contraptions and and stands over you while you're entering the tip amount. I don't know I just find that offensive. My recommendation is to just grab a burger at the fast food stand or eat somewhere in the Village beforehand. You'll save a ton of money plus you'll have a satisfying meal under your belt. read more

Apparently, Tivoli Terrace was sold and is now Terra. The lunch menu is smaller, fewer options at pretty high prices. The sandwich & burger come with potato chips. It still has a beautiful patio to sit outside. The grilled chicken salad was pretty good, and I believe the chicken was freshly grilled. Also the salmon sandwich with coleslaw was good. The problem I had was with price & service. There was 1 waitress, and 1 runner who was folding napkins with another worker facing away from the people, so no one could get his attention. When we could finally get service for coffee or water refills, they would walk all the way to the kitchen, then back to us, not offer refills to other people, then take the carafes all the way back. We went before the Pageant of the Masters on a Sunday night - very convenient location and comfortable outdoor seating - it goes straight down from there. We were a table of 8 - one person was missed when taking orders (waiter just walked away after taking 7). When the food showed up - the serving team spent 5 minutes trying to figure out who ordered what. Isn't there a system for that? Total chaos and we were one dish short when done. They scrambled to run back and make another dish.... Two people in the party sent back their food / drink to order something else because they thought the food was subpar. It was not crowded (so no excuses) and the whole experience was extremely sloppy. You are better off getting a hot dog at the concession stand or going to a restaurant within walking distance of the venue. read more

My request to the restaurant is to update their menu to accurately describe the Parmesan Tomato Chicken dish. In my mind I expected a breaded chicken breast with some parm on top and artichokes and tomatoes either on the chicken or mixed in with the cous cous. What I received was so way off I asked the server if the kitchen had made a mistake. What came out was a chicken thigh that looked like it had been pressed down, some sort of coating and then parm and cilantro all over it. Nowhere on the menu does it even mention cilantro. If you are someone that hates cilantro then the dish instantly becomes inedible. I scraped off the top and ate part of the chicken, which tasted fine. The cous cous was good but it had green olives in it, not artichokes or tomatoes. One of the guests at the table that ordered the same item sent it back and what they got in return was incredibly unappetizing. Management apologized and took it off the bill. The service was great, everyone was attentive and polite, but for the price of the meal I expected way more. Just providing some feedback. read more

Our first time eating here before seeing Pageant of the Masters on July 8th. The location is fabulous and we sat on the upper level with a fantastic view! A nice bonus that we could hear the live music from below and still carry on a conversation at a regular voice level. Our service was attentive yet not overbearing and all of our food was delicious with a beautiful presentation! We had the hummus appetizer and it was quite large. Our party of 3 had the lamb, salmon, and crab cakes and we all left pleased with our delicious choices and our portions. This is a restaurant specifically for the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. As such, the menu has only 5 choices. We had the chicken and short ribs. The chicken was outstanding and the short Ribs were average. The service was good. My only complaint is the bar. I ordered a Old Fashioned which was fantastic. When I ordered a second one, it wasn't correct. When I asked the server, she said they ran out of the ingredients to make a Old Fashioned. If that's the case, they shouldn't be offering it. We've had dinner here prior to the Pageant of the Masters a few times. The food has been consistently good every year. We shared everything family style. The short ribs were tender and tasty. The salmon and pork chop were good too. Convenient location right next to The Pagaent of the Masters is a huge plus! Who doesn't enjoy outdoor patio dining on a beautiful summer evening? The service depends... In prior years the service was much better. This year, our poor server ran around like crazy, barely able to take care of all of his tables. read more
