The cream corn and banana pudding were both delicious though. For the price, I think this place is pretty overpriced. The banana pudding should not be $10, and the meat was too expensive for the taste. The restaurant had a nice BBQ vibe to it, but still doesn't justify the price. Terry Blacks was delicious. I have been to the OG in Lockhart and the one in Dallas prior to this visit. It was good, but I was not overwhelmed at those two locations. This Fort Worth location was different in a very positive way. Went on a Saturday afternoon and the manager Chad Jackson greeted me and my son and asked if we had been in before. He offered a quick tour of the smoker room and explained the process and lifted the lid to show us some briskets smoking away. He gave recommendations and was a superb host. James and Dakota were similarly helpful as they sliced up the meat and rung up the bill. Fatty brisket is the best move here. Pork rib is a delicious accompaniment. For sides we went with creamed corn, pinto beans and Mexican rice. I would not normally order Mexican rice at a BBQ place, but it was recommended. I am glad I did. The Mexican rice was phenomenal and the pinto beans are cooked up with brisket. Each delicious on their own... But together they are a home run. Terry Black's in Fort Worth! This latest incursion into Fort Worth by the acclaimed Black family of course demanded a visit. For Fort Worth natives, Terry Black's is situated in a great spot on W 7th where the old Wendy's used to be. Despite parking being a perennial issue on this part of town, TB's does have a sizable amount compared to most businesses in this area, so that is a plus. Walking in from the parking lot, you can tell they put a tremendous amount of thought and planning into this location as, it really is a compound. They have a massive smoker area with 6 rows of massive pits on your right. On your left as you walk in, is a sizable outdoor patio that will be busy once warmer weather comes in. Inside, it is set up for efficiency. The front of the line is where you grab your sides and condiments first, then you go to the meats area where they take your final order and chop the meat up, serving it just a few minutes after you order and pay. Given that everything is by the pound, it makes for a simple and quick ordering process. We were very impressed with the flow and now that the boring stuff is out of the way, on to the meats! The Brisket: I ordered brisket from the flat and was greeted with some delicious slices of brisket. They had a great, peppery bark and the meat was extremely tender. Easily a top brisket in Fort Worth. The Ribs: I believe the ribs won the day for me here - they have a great salt and pepper rub, some light BBQ sauce for glaze, and they were fall off the bone good. I'd say these trimmed spare ribs are probably my favorite ribs in Fort Worth now. The Sausage: went with the original sausage, had a really nice look to the casing and the casing had a nice pop to it as well. Overall a solid sausage. The Sauce: they have several to choose from, I went with the mild mix. This sauce, I was a bit surprised to see more viscous than other sauces in Fort Worth - it's a thick tomato-based sauce and has some mild sweetness to it. In addition to the above, I also ordered some smoked turkey to bring home and it too delicious and probably some of the better smoked Turkey you'll find in Fort Worth as well, everything is great here. We were amazed that the whole process from pulling in to finishing our food on a Friday night was only 30 minutes. Of course this will slow down when the weather is nicer and they will start filling up their patio. Simply put, Terry Black's lives up to its reputation and if you have yet to try it in Fort Worth, then make a point of it as it is easily a top 4 here. The addition of TB's in Fort Worth just adds to the BBQ renaissance we are having here and provides good competition to Heim, Goldee's, and Panther City. read more

I've had BBQ before, wasn't a fan and I would honestly avoid it like the plague. I was here on Valentine's Day at noon and it was still busy, not as crazy busy as last weekend when we didn't get lucky making it since we had no luck with parking. There are no reservations or a waitlist on Yelp. It's on a first come first serve basis. For starters, you must order and have your food before you sit at a table. I highly recommend you look at the menu beforehand so you're ready. Once in line, you order your sides, for example, mac-n-cheese, potato salad, etc, and then you move on to choosing your meat (ribs, brisket, sausage, etc), you pay, and off you go to find a table to sit and eat. The ribs were so flavorful and such delicious goodness. I didn't even have to add extra sauce, it spoke volumes of how amazing the ribs were, that they were solid and didn't need seasonings or sauces. To me, it was perfect just the way it was. Its glaze was the bomb and the way the meat came off the bone was great. 10/5 The brisket pieces I had consisted of a lot of fat, so I wasn't a huge fan just based on the pieces I got. However, the few bits that were not fat with their sauces were pretty good. 4/5 The sausage was cooked just the way I like it and was savory on its own. No need to add anything. 5/5 The mac-n-cheese was good, definitely better than so many others I've had. 4.5/5 The potato salad was seasoned well and tasted good. 4.5/5 Their customer service was great, we had staff check up on us periodically while we were eating. The cozy homey ambiance, filled with lively chatter, further enhances the sense of hospitality and community within the restaurant. I am stoked we found this spot. We sat outside on their patio with our dog (very dog friendly) tables were clean and overall vibe was very cute and welcoming very good spot for a date or a group of friends. We got 1 beef rib, 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of smoked sausage, 1/2 pound of chopped beef, and a small side of coleslaw. The total came to $105. Absolutely delicious! That's how best to describe Terry Black's BBQ. It is easily one of the best BBQ joints in the DFW area, and that's saying something if you know BBQ around here. The We tried the Mac and cheese, beans, creamed corn, and Cole slaw. All the sides were fine, but nothing to write home about. Enjoyed my second experience at Terry Blacks. Came in on a Friday night around 8:30pm and got through the line quickly. Ordered the small family combo which came with 3lbs of meat & 5 sides we also added 4 corn breads and sausage. The menu prices shown are not up to date so our total was abt $188 ($2 corn breads, $150 for family meal,$18-20 sausage) which is pretty pricey but worth it for a group of 4-6 people. We ordered brisket for our meat and had some tough pieces which was a bit disappointing. The pieces that were tender had great flavor and paired well with the bbq sauces being offered. Corn bread was nice as well, could be considered dry/crumbly but we enjoyed it ! One part of the service was the meat cutter gave us pieces of beef burnt end which were Amazing !! Inside seating gets filled fast but there's covered seating outside so room for everyone. Overall this place is well deserving of 5 stars but the inconsistency with the meat was what made the experience 4 stars. I'd still recommend it & will definitely be back. read more

I accidentally placed a catering order at the DFW location when I meant to pick it up at the Main Street location. When we arrived at Main, the amazing managers were incredibly helpful. They contacted the DFW location to cancel the original order and began preparing our catering from scratch right then and there. The staff worked quickly and so hard, all to help correct my mistake. On the other side, the DFW manager Vince was also incredibly kind and helpful in getting my refund processed. Thank you, Vince, you truly are the best.
