First of all when we called Terry Movers, a friendly voice came on the line. If you happen to speak with Marc, the owner, he is upbeat, honest and happy to serve. He asked a few questions and quoted a very fair rate based on my atypical requirements of pick up of office furniture with two drop off spots and anything left over would go to to his storage facility or to the dump. Well, on moving day he sent two large moving vans over which more than covered what we needed and six guys to help move things out fairly quickly. They did a great job and were very organized, neat and clean. Most appreciated. They were all pleasant and didn't waste any time. We were loaded and on our way and were able to drop off the entire contents of the move in two stops, therefore not needing to use his facility for storage. (Even though his rates seemed quite fair). The next day we returned to the office to clean up after the movers were gone and were surprised to find one very large, heavy piece of furniture that was marked to be taken to the dump or give to which ever one of the movers wished to take it home. We returned to the office to find that there was one large piece of furniture that had been marked to be gifted to any of the movers that wish to take the desk console home or to be taken to the dump. We had no place to put it . We thought that everything had been picked up and marked properly so that it would be on the truck. We called Marc and after a few questions he said "we will be out tomorrow to take care of it, and this one's on me!" There was no disagreement or argument. Day of move punctal arrival, the crew evaluated and quickly went to work. They took great care of items, including older fragile ones, no breakage or damage! For the past twenty-one years, my wife and I had been renting a house in Costa Mesa, CA. Our landlord passed away, and his family immediately informed us they wished to sell the house. When the day came 12-26 the crew showed up and quickly packed and got us on our way. Super friendly knowledgeable guys. The next day in Vegas....same thing. We decided to go with Terry Moving and Storage because it was a one stop shopping experience for us. The sales person that was suppose to come actually got sick and so the owner Mark came to my house to give me the estimate to move from California to Arizona. He was very respectful, honest and kind very refreshing. We actually inquired into several moving companies but my husband really like Mark. We had been waiting so long for the approval before we actually booked the movers so it was on a Sunday and I knew the offices were closed but I needed to get a hold of Mark to lock down the date for the closing of our home. He took time out of his weekend to call me back and told me that they could book the move which was actually only in 10 days. He told me that it wouldn't be a problem sent me the email to lock them in and that was that. So super helpful during a stressful time. The day of the mover 4 of his workers Armando, Carlos, Luis and Martin showed up 30m minutes early and ready to work. I quickly walked them through what I had already staged for them each room and they were off and running. The were so respectful and kind with my things. They asked me when they were sure about what to load on the truck. They told me the whole process of what they were going to do and how they were going to do it so kind. They even didn't mind when I told them that my rocks had to go with me. They gathered them up no problem. Another thing I like is that they don't make you pay for everything up front I like that you pay as the jobs are completed. They crew showed up at 8:30am and was done by 4pm. They really worked very hard. I can't say enough about Armando, Carlos, Luis and Martin super good workers. All my things went into storage at their facility but I have no worries and when I call them to let then know I have found my new home that the process of off loading will go just so smooth as it did when loading. Over the years, we've hired Terry Moving for the big moves and the little ones. House to house, of course, with stellar service every time - Mark is very responsive and the crews are always personable. We've also hired him for the "little" things like pianos and appliances. His team works efficiently and logically - which means doing it right and without wasting time or dollars. Only one example of that is when they were bringing in a new huge, built-in refrigerator. It wasn't obvious how to get it through the front door, to pivot around two corners, and line it up with the space in the cabinets without touching any walls or the tightly packed kitchen countertops. You wouldn't think that would take analysis until you watch someone plan it out and get it all done so nimbly. And for the new petite-grand piano, they cranked up their cleverness even another notch. I was amazed how quickly they worked and how reasonable the fee was. Before meeting Mark and his crew, we hired other movers thinking they were all the same. We recently joined the multitudinous ranks of outraged Californians heading for greener pastures. We chose Texas! And after a lengthy and thorough search of identifying which moving company to best trust transporting our treasured possessions, safe and sound, we chose Terry Moving and Storage. Believe me, the decision was not easy. There are scads of moving companies and, for the most part, they seem to be great people who are caring, competent and professional. However, the horror stories are legend, where each narrative begins with something to the effect of, "They were so nice when we first met them but then..." Understandably, my wife and I did not want to find ourselves in the same predicament. Needless to say, our interview process was rigorous, if not uncompromising. After great consternation, we winnowed our choice to two movers. Since pricing was comparable, the cost was not a factor. We simply wanted the best company and one that would treat our belongings as if they were their own. We came to the end of research and yet we still could not decide. Then, a stroke of luck! I noticed a Facebook message from an old friend who heard through the grapevine that we were moving to Texas. Oddly enough, he and his wife had just settled into the same city where we were relocating, Boerne. Furthermore, his mover was among our final two choices. No sooner did I ask him about his experience with Terry Moving and Storage when the superlatives began to flow. He could not recommend Terry Moving any more vigorously. His appraisal was all we needed to make our decision. While I could easily write at length regarding their diligent care and one thoughtful consideration after another, I was especially impressed by how they handled my collection of guitars and other fragile items. You see, I had set aside all my prized musical instruments (along with TVs and computers, artwork, etc.) to pack them into my car and transport them to Texas on my own. However, it became quickly apparent that we were not going to have the room to do so. It was then that one of the moving crew suggested that we allow them to pack and move our precious cargo. After staring at them with the same dubious face as if they were asking for guardianship over my children, I hesitantly asked how they might go about doing such while guaranteeing their complete safekeeping. They then explained to me that they pack and transport delicate property routinely. It's what they are known for and they take great pride in ensuring all our treasures would arrive in perfect condition. It was at this juncture when they asked if they could demonstrate how they would go about packing my guitars and such. It took all but a few minutes before realizing that the odds of our frangibles arriving safely to our home were significantly better in their hands than packed in our car. The painstaking care they took was nothing short of remarkable. Fast forward a week later - the Terry Moving van arrived at our home in Boerne right on time. It came equipped with a full crew, equally as caring, efficient, professional, and as friendly as the team we hugged and thanked in the town we said goodbye to. Their genuine kindness and warmth made our move feel more like one performed by friends than a hire. Suffice it to say, we were overjoyed. After packing and hauling over 300 boxes and who knows how many tons of property (accumulated from raising three children and 33 years of marriage), the ONLY blemish we discovered was a minor scuff on the corner of a wine cabinet. It was quickly restored with a stain pen. That was it! I couldn't help but reflect on the many nightmare accounts we heard from our friends and acquaintances and the litany of treasures damaged and destroyed. How was it we were left unscathed? Was it pure luck or something else? Well, I am writing this review to help make your decision a confident one. While I am sure that better-known movers exist and possibly even less expensive ones, I can guarantee you you'll be hard-pressed to find a moving company as professional, protective, and proficient as Terry Moving and Storage. I have so many good things to say about Mark Terry and his team, that I don't know where to begin! We had been planning to move and watched the homes in our neighborhood go up for sale one by one, and we were seeing the Terry moving truck time and time again in the 'hood. When it came time for us to move, I knew who to call. They were professional from the start all the way through to the end. Their price was in line with what we expected, which was fair for both parties. I am truly a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", so I wasn't about to go with the cheapest quote from a random moving company. I the team that came out to move us from point A to point B were all professional, courteous, friendly and seem like they enjoyed what they were doing. Or larger items such as our beds, tables and appliances were dismantled and the parts were packaged in a separate box that traveled with them. At point B, the driver easily backed the massive moving truck down our driveway and the guys had everything unloaded and rebuilt within about four hours. I'll never use another mover again. I AM NOT exaggerating when I say I have never received better service from any business, ever. I have used them twice now. The 1st time, they transferred a suite of offices to a storage unit. I hired them at the last minute, and they had a crew on site in no time. They had no problem with disconnecting all the office equipment, including a gigantic old photo copier. Everything arrived perfectly and exactly when they said it would. The 2nd time, I hired them to move my home 400 miles away. I got 3 quotes, and nobody was lower. Normally, I am suspicious of the lowest price, but since I had used them before, I decided to go for it. I am so glad I did. Due to complications with my home purchase, I had to reschedule them several times, with very little notice. Each time, Mark Terry was incredibly gracious about the changes. He assured me that my things (that had already been packed up by his crew) would be safe and secure until we were ready to move in. I have to mention Juan and JB, the crew leaders.
