Tesoro is an upscale Mexican restaurant. The space is nice, furnishings are nice, the strip mall it is in is a bit sketchy and the overall vibe is that they are trying hard. Service is good, and about average for this level of restaurant. Prices are on the high side in relation to the 400+ other Mexican places in this area - BUT - the food is great which brings the value home. We have had several things on the menu, but our go to is the sol y mar. This dish is thin sliced chicken or steak filets (or both) with grilled shrimp, rice, beans, garnish and fresh tortillas. The thing that sets it apart is the sauce. You can choose between a few, but the Jalisco sauce is one of the best sauces of any kind I have had. It makes the flavor of everything pop. The sauce seems to be butter based, perfectly spicy and has a lemon pop to it. Kind of like a spicy Hollandaise sauce. The chicken is tender and spiced perfectly. The beans are standout. The rice is good. The shrimp were well prepared. Salsa is really good. Chips are average. Sol y mar with one meat will set you back $23 - add 5:for both meats - but the chicken is the standout. Try it. One of my favorite dishes anywhere - the Jalisco sauce makes it incredible.

Nice ambiance. Service was okay. Quite expensive. Waiter wanted to know if we wanted guacamole with our chips...$14. Food was just okay.

Excellent food, well prepared. The service is great and you can get in and out quickly if you have a short lunch period.

Food has no flavor and service took over an hour to get the food. Severely understaffed and the music was so loud you can't think.

If disappointment had a flavor, it would be the fajitas at El Charro…read more I ordered fajitas expecting that classic sizzling, seasoned, mouthwatering experience. What I got instead was what I can only describe as lightly warmed, paper-thin sadness. The meat was dry, completely unseasoned, and so thin I'm pretty sure it qualified as deli meat. I've had better flavor from airport food... and that's saying something. No sizzle, no aroma, no personality. Just a plate that looked like it gave up halfway through cooking. Service? Let's just say it matched the food--uninspired and forgettable. The only positive is that this meal actually helped my diet because after a few bites I had zero desire to keep eating. So technically... thanks for that? Would I come back? Only if I needed a reminder of what fajitas are not supposed to be. 0/10 for flavor 10/10 for reinforcing my self-control

The green sauce has pork in it:( our server was friendly and knowledgeable about menu. my friend ordered the carne asada tacos. I enjoyed my dinner. I would not rate the red sauce as my favorite. But it was good. I will definitely go back. also they have about 4 big screen TVs playing. Plenty of parking in back. I can't wait for warmer days as they have a cute little patio in front.

Chips and dips were given upon being seated, drink orders taken, and were received fairly quickly. The chips themselves were delicious & so were the bean dips and salsa. For my entree, I ordered probably the most bland-sounding thing I have ever ordered. I ordered Dos Huevo's w/ Carne Asada. My plate was great! Carne asada cooked & flavored well & the eggs were also perfect. The rice it came with was decent, nothing crazy. I will say, oddly enough, on that warm day, I got a hot coffee to drink. The coffee was really good! I pretty much inhaled it, twice! Overall the place is nice, attentive, and good food!

So here are the pros: Service was good, chips, salsa and bean dip came out pretty quick. The bean dip is really good. The salsa is a little spicy and they don't have a milder option for spice intolerant folks like my wife. I enjoyed the salsa, she didn't. We ordered 2 chicken items, Garlic Chicken and diabla chicken. Both essentially the same item but with different sauces. The Garlic chicken was good for a bit, and then became pretty overpowering. The sauce is a butter sauce, that would probably be great on some pasta. The Diabla chicken was anything but spicy. The red sauce it was in was about as spicy as milk. The pickled jalapeño slices served on the plate were extremely spicy in comparison and they didn't have much heat to them. The service was much better than the food. I'm really surprised they have the amount of traffic they do with the food as lacking as it is. Might be the bar is where the draw is.
