1st night and needed a large table for 12. They were able to accomodate us in a timely manner. Our waitress was the best because she was tentative and even exchanged my dirty martini with another since it didn't look dirty at all. The cheapest and best lobster dinner we had in Bar Harbor. We were there for 3 nights/dinners. Their Taste of Main has one whole lobster and tons of Clam/Mussels plus red potatoes, a cup of Clam Chowder and corn on the cob. All these only cost $42. We decided to try Testa's because a friend at home in NJ said he was here 40 years ago and the blueberry pie was the best anywhere. He recommended we eat here even if it was just for a slice of pie. I have no idea if the recipe is the same as it was 40 years ago, but this pie was amazing. Whatever they're doing, recipe, ingredients, prep, etc, please keep right on doing it. Took a chance on this spot after arriving to Bar Harbor and NEEDING lunch stat. Usually I look at the reviews here but I'm happy I didn't because it far outperformed the 3.8 stars I see. My date had the chowder and said it was perfectly creamy and delicious. I had blackened fish tacos with some of the best flavoring and spices I've tasted for that particular meal. Had to have either a lobster roll or full main lobster from Bar Harbor one way or another. Busy place with two levels of seating confused me with a Hostess stand on the sidewalk and one inside the door, chose the door and won. Seated right away, upstairs with a good view of the harbor and Main Street. I decided on the Seafood Platter which consisted of a full main lobster, about 1.5 lbs, bowl of chowder, fried potato wedges, steamer pot of local muscles and clams, corn on the cob. The lobster roll was $30, the platter was only $42. A fantastic price for the area. My Wife ordered the lobster roll and it was $30, but it did have a lot lobster on it. My lobster was cooked perfectly. The chowder was good, and the broth used in the steamer pot was briney and buttery. Excellent dish. The lobster roll was warm, full of claw meat and a great coke slaw on the roll. The superstar of this dish, decided by both of us was an appetizer: Chowdafries! Crispy, hot fries covered in clam chowder, bacon bits and scallions. What a fantastic taste with opposing textures from the creamy chowder and crispy fries. A new flavor favorite for us. I absolutely loved the clam chowder! Hands down the best I've had. Creamy, thick, just the right amount of clams and not too many potatoes. The scampi style lobster roll was also delicious, and the Cole slaw had a hint of horseradish to it, which is a favorite of mine. Had trouble finding a place open with lobster on a Monday at the height of leaf peeping. About 4-5 places were closed. Shortage of workers? This place is close to the waterfront. He had the lobster dinner served with corn on the cob and rosemary potatoes that melt in your mouth. I had the flash fried lobster tacos served with pineapple blueberry aoli. A little too many red onions, but I picked them out. It was the perfect amount of food for us both. For dessert he had the whoopie banana split. It was huge! Really good food and cool upstairs outdoor dining! Not extraordinary, but a great night nonetheless. My favorite things here were the oysters and the lobster roll, which is really good news. The oysters were fresh and tasty and the lobster roll had a lot of claw parts and tasted fresh. The lobster roll was a bit small, so if that's your entree, probably get a side too. The lobster bisque was only okay- it was really thick and cheesy, and didn't taste much like lobster. The salmon steak was pretty great, especially with the almonds, and was humongous! For dessert, the blueberry pie came with vanilla ice cream and was pretty decent. The service was ok, they took a while getting our appetizers and drinks, but that could also be because we were starving when we arrived. Food was atrocious. Solid 1/10. The only thing that was okay was the lobster grilled cheese. The lobster roll was small and filled with mayo-y cole slaw on the bottom so it had barely any lobster. Clam chowder did not taste of clam or chowder. I wasnt able to see or taste any clam in it. Our drinks, the blueberry mojito and the blueberry hard lemonade were nearly inedible. The mojito was way too sour, not tasting like blueberry or a mojito, while the lemonade was also too sour to drink. They also only checked on us once during the entire time! On my own and got a nice table by the window. Perfect for people watching. It was about 6pm on a Monday. A few locals were at the bar dining - always a good sign in touristy places. I walked into town from the Willows Mansion where we are staying. Service was prompt and friendly. Sylvia directed me to lobster. I was not in the mood to fight with any shells so settled on the lobster roll #2. Lobster in butter served on a nice roll. I started with a cup of chowder. It was very good. There was lobster everywhere - it was a very generous portion and quite tasty. The lobster was served with two ramekins of Cole slaw and dipping butter with some spice in there. Also a small basket of home made chips. Nice. I got a Belvedere martini. The drink was prepared perfectly. I got another. The place is right on Main St., with a horseshoe shaped bar. Fantastic lunch destination. Located right in the heart of town on Main Street, Testa's offers up a nice selection of salads and handhelds that provides tourists with a quick refuel so they can get right back to exploring Bar Harbor's many shops and attractions. We arrived right before the lunch rush - about 11:15 AM. And the lunch rush starts early here, folks - basically everyone in downtown Bar Harbor is either retired or on vacation or both, so people are swarming this town and eating lunch well before noon. On the ground level is the bar, while the main dining room is on the second floor. A flight of stairs will lead you there, and if I remember correctly, there is an elevator to make the second floor more accessible. Weather permitting, outdoor seating is available (also upstairs). During our visit, we sat inside in the corner of the dining room closest to Main Street. We had a wonderful view of the bustling street below and Agamont Park, which was situated diagonal from us. From our perch, we also came to realize that taking your picture in front of the Bar Harbor Inn sign is some kind of rite of passage (so we did this ourselves right after lunch). There was one issue with our seating placement. It was a beautiful day out, so the windows near us were cracked open. This inevitably let bugs in, so we had to deal with swatting away a few flies during the course of our meal. The meal itself, however, was delicious. With lobster rolls being a staple in this region, you have three different variations to choose from. Two incorporate warm, melted butter. I went with a more traditional lobster roll, albeit with bacon, lettuce and tomato. That's right, a lobster roll BLT. Even though the lobster itself wasn't doused in butter, the crisp, buttery roll was a perfect compliment. Fans of buffalo chicken should set their sights on the fried buffalo chicken sandwich. This thing is massive - it must have been at least a 1/2 lb. chicken breast slathered in tangy buffalo sauce sprinkled with bleu cheese crumbles. For those who want a little bit of everything, there's the soup, salad, and sandwich combo. It includes a cup of chowder, house dressed greens, and a Waldorf chicken salad bagel sandwich. Also, don't miss out - there is currently a Yelp check-in special for a free cup of clam chowder (a $7.00 value!). My visit to Testa's was an exceedingly pleasurable experience and embodied every positive facet of Bar Harbor. read more

We will be back! The lobster tacos were hands down the best lobster we had on our entire trip. Then we tried the lobster Mac and cheese and we know we will be dreaming about this for week. My son who is a chicken and finger snob said these were the best. The blueberry Thai wings were so good, we boxed them up for later. It was HOT! 92 degrees and upstairs we thought we would catch a breeze, but not the case. We will be back! read more

I was hoping for flavorful tempura shrimp with a clean, crisp bite and this was alright. I'm not a coconut breading girl, but we devoured it all my cousins agreed it was good! Calamari "Fritto Misto" ($12) - Calamari Fries & Garden Fresh Veggies Flash Fried, Drizzled w/ Sweet Thai Chili & Ranch - Beautiful but tasteless! Not Yet Famous Clam Chowder ($10) - This was my dish! It was great for the price, and well presented. This chowder is light and creamy, with a thinner soup base than most. I like that it was surprisingly packed with flavor. PROS: - Prime location easily found right in the heart of the downtown area. Interior is beautiful (and bathrooms are cool!). It's a great lunch spot. - Our server nailed everything. She made sure nobody's plate was forgotten and acted in a timely manner to fulfill all requests before we even asked! :) She, including the rest of the staff, was so sweet and accommodating to my relatives. - My cousin is addicted to the "Blueberry Sweet Thai Chili Sauce" that accompanies the Coconut Shrimp. She requested to take a small sauce container home (thank you for accommodating that so easily!) and she plans to spread it on Blueberry Pancakes and Muffins. - They encourage you to eat the flowers and take them home. Testa's Restaurant is located along Main Street. It's located about 300 yards from the tendering pier, but you do have to go up a pretty steep hill. It's at the same location where we took our tour to Acadia National Park with Acadia National Park Tours. We came in here for lunch after the tour on October 2, 2019. Once we came in, I realized the coupon from the tour got lost during the trip. The host said to just tell your server and the discount will still be applied, which it was at the end. The place was somewhat busy, and that was likely due to those of us that came via cruise ships. We were then seated and had a moment to look over the menu before our server came over. We weren't ready to order yet, but we did get Old Soaker Root Beer to drink, which is a local root beer in Bar Harbor, which was good. It came in a bottle, so there were no free refills on that of course. A few minutes later, our server came over and we were ready to order. After looking over the menu, we decided to go with different versions of the Lobster Roll entrees. I went with the BLT Lobster Roll and my mom went with The Capt. Colie Lobster Roll. About five to ten minutes later, our orders came to the table. The lobster rolls also came with homemade chips. The lobster rolls were good. When you first look at them, it looks small, but they are packed with quite a bit of lobster. The taste was good as well. For me, it was a good size in the end, and held me over until dinner later that evening on the Disney Magic cruise ship. Overall, this was a good experience here. The one thing I think they could improve is have a few more servers when it was busy like that. Our server wasn't around as much as he was also in the upstairs portion of the restaurant too. Pricing was a bit higher than expected, but it is an area that is definitely off the beaten path. Definitely not close to any interstate. In the end, food was good and service was good given the circumstances. I would definitely come back if I am in the area again in the future. If your travels take you this way, this place is worth checking out. They offer breakfast (until 11 am), lunch, and dinner. read more

This was the only place that was open during the off-season on a Saturday night. Everything else had an hour plus wait, so I'll add an extra star for convenience. The food was very okay. We made dinner reservations the day before and walked right in and the line was long. Most of my party ordered the lobster but I went for the seafood Shepard pie because it sounded interesting. While waiting for our dinner our waiter told us "we are out of lobster". We discussed and having traveled from the west coast and that wasn't acceptable.
