We loved this place on our vacation to anchorage! We ate there twice! The food is amazing the staff are super friendly and very attentive. They are super busy so maybe make a reservation if they take them or plan ahead to wait for a bit for a table. We didn't mind waiting since they have great food! It was nice to see this restaurant running at capacity on Mother's Day. We only had a 5 minute wait and our server was there quickly to take our drink, appetizer , and main course orders. Everything came to the table in the order one would expect with a reasonable time between the items that allowed us to enjoy each. The chicken fried sirloin was fork tender and my dining companion's steak kabobs were cooked perfectly rare. I came down here for lunch with a friend after receiving a free appetizer coupon on a previous check-in a couple of months back. The Texas Roadhouse is located off of Old Seward and Dimond next to the new Goodwill store at the rear corner of the parking lot. The dining area is typical for the franchise steakhouse with a Western-style rustic look, plenty of booths and a centralized bar in the middle for watching sports. The servers here have always provided efficient customer service and like to strike up a conversation from time to time although the hostesses at the front could be a bit more friendlier and quicker to greet diners as they come in. We were seated quickly at a booth and a server quickly took our drink orders upon getting settled. The overhead TVs at the nearby bar had the NFL playoffs which helped pass the time while waiting for our server to take our orders. When we were ready to order, I pointed out the free appetizer from Yelp on my phone and the server said they would be able to take it off the check by scanning the bar code when it was time to pay. The Yelp freebie offered me a choice between the Cactus Onion Blossom (which I ordered the last time), Fried Pickles, Rattlesnake Bites, Cheese Fries, or Tater Skins. We decided on the Rattlesnake Bites (hand-battered lightly fried jack cheese bites with diced jalapenos and served with a cup of Cajun Horseradish on the side). These were very good, but very spicy hence the name. For our entrees, I decided to throw caution to the wind and picked the 16oz. Fort Worth Ribeye cooked medium with a side of buttered corn and seasoned rice. My friend went with the three-piece Catfish Platter (deep-fried in southern cornmeal served with a cup of Creole mustard) with sides of seasoned rice and green beans. The wait was about 10-15 minutes which wasn't bad considering it was 12:30PM on a Saturday. The Ft. Worth Ribeye was absolutely delicious, cooked at a perfect medium with a slight pink in the center. There was just the right amount of marbling on the side for added juiciness and flavor. My friend enjoyed her Catfish Filets and they were enormous in size. She could only eat one and a half of the filets before requesting a box and saving it for dinner later on. After the meal, we literally had no room for dessert. The check came out to around a little over $50 which was to be expected especially for the quality of a 16oz. Ribeye. The free appetizer saved me about $6.99, one of the many benefits for checking in at certain places around town as a Yelper. I usually try to frequent restaurants that are owned locally, but the service, experience, and the food has made me come back several times for a filling meal. read more

Food was pretty good but service was atrocious! I had never tried this place before but I had gone to its rival Outback Steakhouse. My friends and I had just finished driving down from Fairbanks and were looking for grub. The items of comparison were the Cactus Blossom [TR] vs the Bloomin Onion [OS], the bread, the mac and cheese, and the steak. I liked Outback's equivalent slightly better in every case but the steak. However, the first waitress we had was extremely rude. She did not handle our initial orders well saying she was used to taking the orders in a specific sequence. She also refused my request for more water until I threw in a "please" at the end which I felt was fairly antagonistic. There were a few other microagressions that were very offputting and unfortunately the rudeness of interactions is enough for me to give this a 1 star experience. read more

This time around coming to Anchorage I debated on whether I should for the past 4 days and I'm glad that I did finally decide to come in to this wonderful establishment. The wait wasn't long since it was just myself, but the service was excellent Mandy the server that I had was very friendly and even checked on how everything was once the order came. Look, I love Texas Roadhouse 85% of the time. But when it's bad, it's really bad. Ordered pick up on Mothers Day, and knew it would be busy. But the text said it was ready, my daughter went to pick it up, and then they kept her standing there over an hour because they'd lost the order. They refused to re-make it, no apologies or recognition that this was poor service. They food was cold and not edible by the time we finally picked it up. This is the 4th time in a year that we had this kind of experience of the kitchen losing the order, bringing the wrong meals out, and so on. read more

Texas Roadhouse is our go-to place after a long hike. It was mainly because we love the atmosphere and they open late. The service here is always excellent. The servers are always friendly and accommodating. Even on their busiest time, they're always prompt to fulfill your request. The food however is a hit or miss unfortunately. Most of the time, the food is acceptable. My sirloin was burned in some areas and the corn were salty on my last order. I should have told the waitress but I hate being persnickety. I figure an added little extra charcoal now and then wouldn't kill me. Their bread is always good in my opinion. However he didn't do as what he mentioned to the 4 individuals at the table. And when asked about it, he became rude and passive aggressive. We came in for my husbands birthday with a group of 25. I had tried to call the day before about the very large party but they DONT take reservations....even for a large group. They allow a "call ahead" to warn them in advance the day of the dinner, so that's what I did. But that part I found lame, huge party, big revenue.....oh well, my husband wanted steak so this was where we were going. The accommodations for very large parties like ours is not optimal. We had basically two large tables pushed together with two rows. So there was a row behind our row, not able to see everyone in your group. The service was very good considering the size of our party and the fact we all wanted separate checks, they kept everything straight for us. Very pleased with that. I got a bacon cheese burger that was pretty good, meat a tad over cooked (I asked for medium) and I thought I'd get cheddar cheese but it was American (blah, yes there is a huge taste difference). Came in during a busy time with a family of four that included a fussy toddler and the first thing our server did was ask what he can get started for our toddler. Seriously, I was impressed. Best case scenario is a toddler busy eating/drinking and not being fussy while everyone else takes their time, studies the menu (ok not too long) and isn't rushed to order. Getting drinks/food for my two year old first made such the difference, this server either has toddlers of his own or has served enough families to know what to do. Texas Roadhouse is an average steakhouse that can typically be consistent. However it is LOUD, this location is not consistent, and the hostess stand does not always know what is going on. It is difficult to go on a date here or go here with family, so don't plan on going here to have an important conversation. Last time we were here, the hostess was more content with scratching her abdomen then letting us know if she was going to put us on the wait list or seat us. Instead we had to stand there awkwardly waiting for the surprise until the other hostess shoved a bread basket at us and said "aren't you coming, we are going to seat you now". It was interesting. It can be hit or miss if steak is cooked correctly, and most of the wait staff does not seem to carry pen and paper. They would rather attempt to memorize an order and then place it wrong or forget an item (this has happened to us on multiple occasions). This is then followed up with multiple interruptions to make sure we are ok, about every 2-4 minutes due to their internal stress of not properly placing an order. This place still gets two stars because despite all these efforts, this seems to be below - average and what you can expect at a joint like this in Anchorage. The food tastes good, in can be fairly dependent, and most people in the family enjoys something on the menu. read more

Where do I begin.... my husband and I decided to keep our anniversary low key and go to TR for dinner. We got there and they seated us immediately, the waitress came over took our drink order, and then our order and that was great! Then it took a turn in the wrong direction. First the waitress after taking our order asked if we wanted another bread basket, I looked at my husband like, "where's the first one?" as a joke. Whatever. We were starving. She came back with another one and as my husbands smearing the butter on his bread he recognized there's something stuck too his knife. After looking at it... we determine is hair with some blonde and black in it. He's immediately grossed out by it and wants the waitress to come back and see it I'm literally watching her have a conversation, I raise my hand a bit to get her attention and nothing. So when another waittress walks by I flag her down and let her know about the hair on the knife. She immediately grabs it and says she'll get a new one. She walks over to waitress and the MANAGER! They exchange words, the manager waves her off and gives her a look. Does the manager come over and talk to us? NOPE She passes by us to go and greet other tables and ask them how their night www doing, passing us up again to get back to their waiter station! Finally our waitrress comes back and as my husband tells her about the hair, she just looKs like at him without an expression asking if he wants a refill. He says yes and when she brings it back she say, "here's a refill, hair free" like wth??? That's not even a joke. All I could muster to give her a 10% tip although with what happened tonight, I really didn't want to give her anythIng. Shout out to the Manager Becky for being very professional!
