Our server was training a new employee, I don't know who would want to work there anyway, but he was so overly friendly calling us " my friend" about a hundred times. I usually eat here because my hotel is close and I'm traveling alone but it's pretty decent. I just want to get a glass of wine or beer, read something, and just eat and chill. This is chain-type food...however, I've always had good service, the steaks are pretty darned good for the prices and cooked as I ordered and well seasoned (I usually get the 12 oz Fort Worth ribeye), the sides (I usually get just veggies) are hot and not mushy. It is kind of noisy but not overwhelming like some places, there are sometimes kids around, but in general this place is just what it appears to be: a honky-tonk themed restaurant. I do think that they have a pretty high server turnover, though. Not that I come there a lot, maybe 4x per year, but the staff seems 'new'. Not bad, just don't expect highly trained wait staff. I ordered a "Pittsburg Char" (or black and blue in some locales) at steak places to see if they know their stuff. My waiter didn't so I explained, he checked with the kitchen, and they knew what it was. Good enough. I had to wait less than 5 minutes to be seated on a Tuesday night at around 6:45 and the place was busy. So, not bad. They CAN lose the waitress line dancing, though. Just kind of odd. read more

Best. Steak. Ever. I had their steak and BBQ ribs dinner. The steak was probably the best steak I've ever had. So yummy! Their BBQ ribs (that are award-winning), were super tender but kind of bland for my taste, which is why I only gave them 4 stars. :/ The buns and butter they give you are delicious. On Saturday 6/19 we went to celebrate my birthday. We were more than prepared to have a long wait time. However, we put our name on the wait list, arrived and did our check in. 10 minutes later we were seated. Btw...there must have been at least 30-50?people milling around outside. Once seated we were greeted by a fun, spunky server named Katie aka Rockstar. It was 5pm and the place was a freaking madhouse! People everywhere! Diners, servers, bussers, runners. But....never once did Katie neglect our table. Constant check in and follow up even in the midst of all the madness. This is probably our favorite steakhouse place to eat in Sioux Falls. The food is always good, the warm buns are such a hit with me. I normally even get an extra order just to take home. Our waitress Erin was AMAZING!!! She was on task, was super attentive to us. Even when we mentioned in passing that he had a birthday this past week, she brought it up at the end of the meal if we wanted a birthday ice cream. We just finished a great meal. We had the best server, her name was Kaylee and she checked on us every five minutes until our meal came. Because we had to wait a little bit longer than usual, when our meal arrived our order of ribs and salad were twice the size that we were acustom to. I think that was Kaylee's doing. Food here is one of my favorites, great burgers and the price is fair. Most of the time service is good as well, my biggest knock on them is atmosphere. It is loud, can be hard to visit with the people you come with, then they crank up the pop country obnoxiously loud and the staff does a lousy line dance to it. Not my thing. Texas Roadhouse is by far my favorite steakhouse of all! Me and my family ordered steak, pork chops, and many potato meals, with appetizers of bread with sweet butter and peanuts straight from the shells. My brother enjoyed quite a few peanuts, while my dad and I had the bread, which was delicious, especially with the butter! The steak and pork were well prepared and seasoned, with my medium rare being pink all around, my brother's medium a perfect red, and my dad's pork being perfectly colored. The steak fries were also good (crispy and salty), and the chilli was lustfully good! Our waiter, Lance, had the funnest personality I've ever seen! He was wearing an ' I my job' version of the employee shirts, and he was just happy to serve! We will definitely return as soon as we can, so keep the grills fired up! read more

My wife ordered a filet med. Well and I ordered the 12oz. Ribeye. After a 45 minute wait for our food my wife received a strip steak very well done. The waiter set the plate down and said "here is your strip". My wife said she ordered a filet. He said it is a filet. How did this yahoo get a job at a Steakhouse. My ribeye was black on the outside and very rare on the inside. Wasn't hard to tell that they lost our order and threw it on at the last minute. This was the first time that even I could not eat a steak. I felt sick all night after eating just one quarter of the steak. The waiter asked if i needed a To go box. I told him that i ordered my steak medium and it was rare. He said he would tell the cook. By this time we were running late for our concert and just wanted to get out of there. Wish there was a negative star button! Every part of this place is bad. The staff went out of the way to try and stop our party from spending money. They insisted we call in advance party of ten (employee appreciation dinner) when we called we were given a number and told table would be ready. Of course the table wasn't ready and they asked if we could split group up. We answered no and had to wait about 45 minutes. To be put in booths next to each other. Asked to speak to manager and was informed " they were to busy" to speak to me. Half the folks received their food and half had to wait another twenty minutes. Before 50% of my guests were done with dinner the waitress was asking about check and giving us the bum rush out the door. While speaking to the employees the waitress interrupted to ask again about check. This place is a fantastic example of a company that doesn't care about customers. Finally got seated at 5:30 at a different table than they were going to put us at in the first place. We then got a waitress that said she was new and didn't speak English very well, took our drink, and food order. After waiting 15 minutes or so finally got our drink order. Got our food 45 to 50 minutes after we ordered. If you want prime rib, go somewhere else. I used to go there just for the prime rib. The last five times I've been there, they have been out of it. All before 7pm. Twice it was before 6pm. Stopped here on our way to the Black Hills. The food and service was similar to any other Texas Roadhouse we had been to. The bathroom floor was all wet, it seemed that the seal between the floor and the toilet was not doing it's job so there was waste water all over the floor. I mentioned it to the waitress who came through and she said it was clean water- that would only be the case if it were coming from the clean water tank on the back of the toilet. So everybody who used the bathroom was tracking waste water through the restaurant, into their cars, and into their homes- yuck! read more

Arrived Saturday afternoon around 2:00 pm for a late lunch with the family. We were seated very promptly. Unfortunately, that and the cold beer were the highlights of the visit. The appetizer (cheese fries) were so salty that even a beer did not wash the sting away.....same with my fries that came with the burger? The burger was however very tasty....but.....since when does lettuce and tomatoes have to be special ordered on top.....the burger came naked? The wife's surf and turf was ordered with a side of rice and broccoli....the rice came out just as salty as the fries and her side of broccoli was so over cooked and wilted that it did not even resemble broccoli (was it perhaps left over from last night) This place continues to be a miss for me. read more

Pleasant surprise Wow! The Texas Roadhouse is not what I expected at all. I was quick to dismiss it as gimmicky chain restaurant similar to Outback steakhouse or TGI Fridays. Steak is my favorite food, so I decided to give it a chance. My girlfriend and I arrived around 7:00pm. There was a 20 minute wait. The waitstaff was more than happy to accommodate us within 5 minutes in the bar area. The service was prompt and very courteous. We shared the 24oz prime rib, medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection! We added a side of shrimp for 5 dollars and it was a huge portion compared to other places! You know, it is what it is, and doesn't try to hide it. It's a chain themed restaurant that serves steak. The steak is cooked close to the way it's ordered most of the time. The beer was cold, the salad had plenty of toppings and was flavorful, and who doesn't like bread and butter? I had the 12oz ribeye tonight and I thought it was to thin of cut, but they still cooked it medium rare so it was ok. Yes it is loud, but part of that is because the place is often super busy. Know going in what type of place it is, hopefully they cook your steak right, and you come out then with expectations met. Prices are inline with other chain themed steak houses. read more
