This is a review of delivery from Thai Boom. I am not doing a very in-depth review. I have been working in Los Angeles quite a bit lately. The team was working late. So, using Grubhub.com, I placed a large order for delivery. Delivery - I placed the order at 8:17 pm. The order was delivered at 9:09 PM. They had estimated delivery at 9:06 PM. Considering the size of the order, I think the delivery was very fast. There is a $3 delivery fee. The delivery person was professional and polite. Packing - The food was neatly packed. The entrees were all in either easy to re-seal plastic containers or clam-shell containers. The rice was stored in traditional Chinese food delivery cartons. They provided a lot of sides of hot sauce, forks, chopsticks, etc... Food - Everyone was very happy with the food. The only dish I had an issue with was the satay. I did not really enjoy the flavor and it was a little tough. All of the other dishes I tried, I enjoyed. Prices - They are within expectation for quality Thai food delivery. Have lunched here many times and the food has been consistently delicious. I do not like overcooked vegetables and theirs are always just right! The portions are generous, as well. The staff is welcoming and attentive at every single visit! It makes for a happy experience. If parking is your concern, I can always find a spot on Gregory Wy (one of the side streets). read more

Thai Boom is a great neighborhood Thai restaurant. The food is tasty, the price is right, the wait staff are friendly and precise, and delivery is prompt. As a neighborhood restaurant, this place gets 5 stars. However, I wouldn't travel across town to go here - I assume there are lots of similarly good Thai restaurants all over town. I've been going here for years, so I've developed a personal affinity for this place and the people who work here, and for that reason it continues to earn my business. That and the fact that it's 20 feet from my house. The Food: Typical Thai fare, with very good Tom Kah, Pad See Ew, and curry dishes. The menu is large and varied, with lots of soups, noodle dishes, curry dishes, appetizers, and a smattering of Chinese-inspired dishes to boot. Atmosphere: Clean and contemporary design, an aesthetic that seems popular with Asian restaurants in LA (you'll find the angular lines and contemporary furniture in plenty of other Thai and Vietnamese establishments in town). The Service: Some of the friendliest waitresses you could ask for. They get the job done, and seem smiley and cheerful at all times. My hunch is they treat their wait staff well here. Delivery: Except for one occasion, they have always delivered promptly. Prices: Boom is cheaper than competing Thai establishments in the area, with better-tasting foods. The place has a mom-and-pop feel, unlike the larger, corporate-feeling Natalee Thai down the street (where prices are higher and food is not as tasty). Overall, if you're in this neighborhood and looking for good Thai food, this is your best bet. read more

I ordered the red curry w/ tofu lunch size it says on the menu to have bell pepper as a vegetable and it didn't. The bamboo was really hard. The place is clean and the waitress friendly. Came here for dinner with the boy a while back. We've both been to the Thai Boom on Venice and was hoping that the food would be similarly as good (for westside standards) Unfortunately, not so much. My boy ordered the chicken curry and enjoyed the flavors of the curry. However, the other items on the plate were a bit of a miss. There was barely any chicken in the curry and the fried rice was nothing special. I ordered the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork. Having cravings for the same dish from Pa Ord (authentic thai food from thai town), I was hoping that Thai boom's version would at least satisfy my craving. However, no luck. The dish was very disappointing with only a few pieces of pork and small serving of chinese broccoli. The only thing that could've redeemed the dish was if the pork pieces were crispy the way it should be. Well, it was soggy and not tasty. Way too salty. Overall the meal was subpar. The prices at venice are definitely better and food taste better as well. Save your money and drive over to Thai town if you really want authentic, bold flavors, thai food. read more

Enjoyed the pad kra pao gai very much here, with sliced chicken. I asked for something with basil. The waiter recommended this, and he said that "kra pao" actually means basil. It was awesome. The veggies were stir fried but still crisp. Plenty of fried basil in there, very tasty. There were some fresh jalapeno slices among the stir fried veggies. Chewing on those brought a very nice spiciness. They have a tray of extra spices if you want. The dry, roasted chili powder is very worthwhile. read more

I don't know if this is typical of the other location, but the portions are now smaller. I don't go out to eat to get so full I get sick. And their prices aren't insane, so it's not a matter of getting your $$ worth. But it's worth mentioning, because you might have to order extra food. 2. What I am about to type is NOT a fabrication: it took 10 MINUTES to get our check. If you haven't been here, think of a typical Thai restaurant...most aren't large. Most aren't full (there was 2 other tables with 2 people each). We waited...and waited...and could see our waitress either talking with someone else, or looking at the credit card machine. Hands down the worst Thai food I've had. I've had take out from here and it wasn't great.. but yesterday we decided to give the restaurant a chance to redeem its self with a visit. I ordered the spicy salad and my friend ordered the broccoli beef with peanut sauce and orange chicken. The salad was the best of what we ordered but was overkill with the onions. And I mean overkill.. I'd say a half an onion in the small salad. The orange chicken was hard. Small hard chunks of chicken that I could hardly bite into. The worst of the three was the beef broccoli.. the beef was cold and dumped on top of the broccoli with the sauce dumped on top of the beef. It wasn't mixed together.. the beef was like sandwich meat. We barely touched it. When the check came I couldn't believe we had to pay $70 for a meal we couldn't eat. I like steamed rice with my red curry; it's an extra charge for rice so that was a negative. This is my go-to place for Thai takeout. Love their chicken pad Thai! It's super authentic and yummy, but they skimp out on the Thai tea. I don't like ice in my drinks as it dilutes the flavor, so I always request no ice. Thai Boom is the first restaurant I've seen that actually takes into account the amount of space ice takes up in a drink cup-- in a BAD way. They only fill the cup ¾ full with drink! So essentially keep in mind that your paying $3 for this much amount of Thai tea. read more

Ordered food from here tonight through Postmates and was so disappointed. We've been looking for a good Thai place since we moved to this area in the beginning of the year and hoped this would be the spot. Nope. We ordered Pad Thai, Mixed Vegetables with Chicken, and egg rolls. The Pad Thai literally had no flavor. I felt like I was eating paste. The mixed vegetables were okay. However the chicken in both dishes was extremely dry. Egg rolls were fine- but how can you screw up egg rolls? To top it off our bill was $32....definitely not worth that at all. Well my pick up order today for 2 BBQ rib dinners was an absolute disappointment! All that was there was a string of tiny small button shaped circular bones held together by strips of Fat. There was fat all over the button shaped bones as if that part was the part that should have been discarded! I was a regular customer interested in preserving a restaurant that I used to frequently enjoy.....but maybe the regular cook was off or someone less experienced was cooking but wow! This place is pretty awesome. I had a lunch special - the red curry with chicken and brown rice. It comes with salad and gyoza, but I have a gluten allergy, so they doubled up on the salad for me. It was very filling and I even have leftovers for later! The woman I ordered with over the phone was Super helpful. Their menu does not "offer gluten free options," but they wee able to accommodate. This review is for takeout only. It's inconsistent. It's been OK at times but over the weekend we ordered and it was epic fail! The noodles we ordered came as in a large plastic container of gravy and then a small side of noodles in a small rice box, not proportionate to the gravy. So we had to mix it together and it was an overly saucy not right situation. I mean there's 500 thai places in LA! If the cook is not there and you can't make a dish, don't sell it. My favorite local Thai spot!!! Amazing service and consistently good food. Now, I have not been to Thailand so I cannot speak of its authenticity but it is damn good and well priced. I love their noodle dishes. My fave is the drunk man noodle which is like a spicy Thai spaghetti. Probably not the most authentic by FAR but so good. Best with chicken or shrimp and i always add extra veggies to soak up that delicious sauce. The pad thai is also a win as are all the curries (though maybe not THE best in town) it's great. LOVE their pork ribs dish!!! The pork meat is SO juicy and flavorful. The shrimp dumplings are also a win and for dessert you must try the mango sticky rice. I order here literally every week!! The beef dish we ordered was pretty tough, though not dry. Think about gnawing on a piece of beef for about 30 seconds before being to eat it. That tough, seriously. I suspect they were so busy they ran out beef they would normally marinate and just started chopping beef they had in their freezer. Not being prepared is no excuse as a restaurant owner. The PRIG KING chicken dish was very dry and all it was chicken, and string beans drowned in hot spicy sauce. Ordered online through eat24hours and ordered mild. Not just a little. I mean, a lot. think about coating your car with wax, 5 times over. Thats the amount of sauce this was drowned/dried in. Thrown away.
