Best Pad Thai I've had so far in New Mexico! I've been trying all the Thai spots in Albuquerque lately so I just had to try Thai Boran too! I had the Pad Thai, Pad See Eww (but it's quite the opposite of eww ), the crab Rangoon, and the money bags. So my absolute favorite item was the Pad Thai, I absolutely loved it. Arguably the best in New Mexico. The Pad see eww was also the best I've had in New Mexico. Neither compared to big city Thai food, but they were close! The crab Rangoon was the best crab Rangoon I've had in a long time, in any city. The way they wrapped it was clever, you could taste the cream cheese filling as you bite, it was great. The money bags was fine, the sauce was too watery I think that came with it which made the flavor run off of it quickly. Huge star bonus for their to go containers not being cancer causing styrofoam. For this alone I stopped ordering from other Thai places in town. Many states have banned styrofoam, it's very very bad, I'm so glad they don't use it. read more

The mango chicken was absolutely delicious with the fresh rice and the refreshing glass of Thai iced tea. It is located near the 40, right off Cools Blvd, and is easy to access. I rarely leave a bad review but I don't think I can avoid it this time. Interior is nice and looks traditional ish. Menu has most anything you'd expect from a Thai restaurant. Service was decent, waiters were overall good. However, it will be a long time (if ever) before I visit again. I ordered fried tofu, pad kee mow with pork, and thai tea. Thai tea is basic enough, was decent. Tea flavor was a little diluted though. Fried tofu... wow. I can't remember the exact price but I remember being completely shocked that it was more than $5 after it came to me. There are 8 triangular pieces, fairly thinly cut, fried and... not seasoned. Like at all. It was so flavorless. I don't understand how they can even charge for this or put it on their menu. Then on to the pad kee mow. Lord. The first batch took over 20 minutes to come after my fried tofu. And the best part? I ordered it 8/10 spicy, and there was no spice. PLUS it was cool and the tomatoes were all cold. We were going to Flix Brewhouse next door and thought we would eat here first. We always said we need to try this place because we live Thai food. It was midafternoon and only a few other customers. We were waited on promptly. The Thai iced tea was good. The chicken satay with peanut sauce and a small cucumber salad was tasty. I got the pad Thai and asked for mild. Well, on a scale from one to 10 with the lower numbers mild, this was an 8. I think the chef dropped the whole spice pan into my dish. I basically ate the vegetables and left the noodles as they were so spicy hot, and opened up my sinuses. Ugh! My daughter liked the side egg noodles with veggies and chicken with crushed peanuts. I stopped by for some takeout. First the staff greeted me quite warmly and took my order. As it was being prepared, the decor is simple with art from Thailand. The food came out quickly and the staff thanked me for waiting. The patio is a nice place to sit for a lunch or dinner. Where I arrived at my friends house, the food was piping hot with fresh ingredients. It was well cooked and the spice was perfectly handled. The restaurant is tucked in beside the Flix, so it is truly a bit of a hidden gem. Look for it and you won't be disappointed. read more

Found my love of Thai food when we moved to the area 7 yrs ago. This small location is within 15 minutes of our house and right next to Flix. We were directed to seat ourselves and our drinks were brought out quickly. I love me some good thai tea and theirs is pretty good. Not too sweet or too tart. The pineapple curry with chicken is flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. So next time you're in the mood for some Thai and a movie, give them a try. You won't regret it. read more

We were able to be seated immediately upon arriving on a busy Friday night. A bit after being seated a few other patrons entered the establishment and had their orders taken for their drinks and appetizers. I looked over at the waiters like, "what about us?" Immediately the waitress said. "Oh I'm sorry, has anyone taken your order?" We said no and then were attended to with no further issues the rest of our experience. Ordered online, it's been a year since I have had Thai food. The challenge is finding LA quality food in Albuquerque. However, I found this spot which is near work for a last-minute meal idea. Had their Pad See Ew, and I was not disappointed. The quality of noodles, the ratio of broccoli to chicken to noodles was equally balanced, and spice level was exactly what I was craving. I was super tired and decided not to cook. So my husband ordered the spicy fried rice with beef and I ordered the eggplant curry with fried tofu. My wife and I stopped in on Saturday, January 14, 2023, for dinner. We needed some food before watching a movie at the nearby Flix Brewhouse. This restaurant is dwarfed by the Brewhouse, but lots of customers crowded the inside. This happened to be my second visit here within the past two months. On both visits I ordered the crab Rangoon appetizer for $9. You get six large, golden wontons perfectly fried and stuffed with crab and cream cheese. These practically melt in your mouth and the ratio of crab to cream cheese- spot on. Get this appetizer. I ordered the #67, eggplant thai style, thai hot, with pork and white rice. This dish cost me $14 and it was worth every penny. Eggplant wasn't mushy or too chewy. The chef really makes it hot when you order it thai hot. Loved it. I walked sweating to our nearby movie. They do refill the water when they see your mouth on fire. The service here is great, friendly staff and the chef cranks out dishes pretty quick. I will be visiting here many more times. read more

Sunday evening the weather was extra gloomy and some hot Thai cuisine sounded like the perfect solution. Sadly most of the Thai spots around town seemed to be closed including Thai Cuisine on Coors that was reported open. But Thai Boran is just down the street so we decided to stop by and check them out. I ordered cashew nut chicken and my friend ordered the yellow curry. I went with medium spice which was a good kick but still very flavorful. The sauce was good but the portion was on the smaller side and the chicken was pretty dry. The curry looked and smelled very good. The food came out really fast but the restaurant was pretty slow up until right when we finished they got a rush. Overall, it was ok but I won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

I went here today after a movie at Flix, and wow!! I ordered the Cashew Nut with fried tofu and requested it spicy.. I was in heaven! I know it can be tempting to order at Flix for convenience, and I am not trying to hate on Flix or anything, but I would definitely give this place a try! Our server was awesome and greeted us almost as soon as we sat down, our order came out quickly even though the place was practically full, and like I said earlier the food was amazing! Thai Boran is located on La Orilla Road just past the Flix Brewhouse in a connected building. They have indoor and outdoor seating options. There are no stairs, so patrons using wheelchairs will have no issues, and the indoor seating is very size-accommodating for large-bodied patrons. I ordered the curry fried rice, which came with celery, onions, carrots, yellow curry, and a protein, for which I chose fried tofu. I requested they add cashews to the dish, which wasn't an issue. The tofu was tough and overcooked, so I didn't enjoy it. The dish came medium instead of the mild I ordered. The rice itself was dry, so the whole dish was somewhat hard to eat. The service was friendly and the food came fast, although I think the latter was a detriment as they could have spent more time on quality rather than speed. read more

I dined here with my friend and had the Tom ka kai soup, friend had mango chicken curry. the tom ka tasted just like my moms and actually brought me to tears. the servicr was also warm and friendly, we sat at a dirty table bevause it was CROWDED and our server immediately helped us and eased my worries about it by saying he was glad we'd found a place to sit on such a busy night. it's a cozy, tightly run and welcoming atmosphere with excellent variety on soju, clean floors and efficient staff. one of my abq favorites!! read more

Need something close to home, quick & easy and craving Thai food for a meal between sleeps - working nites = weird sleeping habits. This place fit the bill nicely. So off we go. We arrive and find a seat. Our server close behind to take drink orders. When he returned we ordered Goong Ka Borg (fried shrimp) Mango Curry with pork & Pineapple Curry with chicken - both medium heat. The shrimp came as an even number (instead of 5 for 2 people). The entrees came out quickly. The medium heat was on the upper end of medium, quickly settling down after a couple of spoonfuls. Both entrees were full of flavor and the curry wasn't over done. Jay answered the phone. Open for dining in until 9:15pm. Smaller place, 11 tables inside and some 3 or so tables outside too. Ordered a Thai iced tea, papaya salad, medium spice, pad Thai steamed tofu and added veggies extra extra hot, crab Rangoon and mango curry with steamed tofu and added veggies. The papaya salad is quite odd, it's literally shredded papaya with some red chili on top of it, it doesn't have any hint of fish sauce and lacks depth for me. The peanuts are the best part of this dish is the roster peanuts. The pad Thai with the steamed tofu as the protein and added veggies barely takes up 1/2 the plate and it's not like it's piled on either, it's a thin layer of the pad Thai dish as it is. It no longer comes inside of the egg crepe either for the presentation. It looks like a lunch portion tonight and not an entree portion to me. They do at least use fresh red chilies. The crab Rangoon wonton is super chewy and should have been fried longer. The crab is barely there in the wonton at all. My mango curry came out well after my husband was almost done with his pad Thai. I got all of 4 cubes of tofu in my entire curry dish. The curry is so-so. All of 4 cubes of mango in the dish. I get the business acumen here. Give less and charge more and add lots of sauce or carrot to make it look like the patron got more than they really did. One staffer said the portion for the pad Thai and the mango curry is the correct portion size the owner provides here. The guest seated next to us told me that they used to have bigger portions a while back, ahh makes total sense. My mango curry was bland and boring and was mild at best, it didn't have much flavor at all. The brown rice with red bean is super dry, not edible. The food here is subpar as is the service. One of the worst Thai meals consumed in a very long time. read more

We came to have dinner this evening after a long evening. The food is always absolutely delicious, we had the gyoza, fried rice, and the king pao. Nothing disappointing about the food. The service on the other hand was not the best, there was a young lady working & voiced it was her last night. It truly showed. So much so she asked us, "are you going to be ready to check out soon?" That definitely put a sour taste in our mouth and wondered if we should dine in again. The other lady working the floor was very kind. She filled our drinks and got our order taken. We order Thai Boran through DoorDash all the time! Maybe we'll keep it that way from now on. Nothing bad about the food, the service was just not there. Well we gave this Thai restaurant a try today & left not impressed. Wanted to - BUT could not do it. Service was fine - food was less Thai and more towards bistro and Americanized interpretation (sweet & sugary). Yes I know what your saying... but its serving Americans - ok great. But it's a Thai restaurant so it should serve food like one. Ordered Thai "chicken wings" to start and chicken nuggets came out on some cut lettuce with Thai chili sauce on it? This menu description should change to match what was served FRIED NUGGETS. Tried a second true Thai item papaya salad and this missed the mark by a lot too. This was enough to demonstrate that this may be great for other people but not us. We came in search of authentic Thai food and did not find it here sadly. So many other options for Thai food in the area so we will just stick to those other places. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! This is the first review I have ever left. I've never been made to feel like such an inconvenience as a paying customer. I think the worker purposefully messed up my order because I picked up my order at 9:20, 10 minutes before they closed. It was the only place open; so if that's a problem then they should close earlier. When I pulled up to grab my order, 2 male workers were waiting for me outside, the lights inside were dimmed and all the chairs were up. Keep in mind the restaurant is still technically open. They were outside on the patio close to the parking visibly and exaggeratively shaking their heads at me. Then as I approached the door they walked inside and closed the door on me. When we called 40 minutes before close to place the order, the "kid" on the phone was extremely rude. I first asked to place an order for pickup, he said "we close in 30 minutes" (it was 8:50 and they close at 9:30) and I said, "great I'll be there in 10! This is the only Thai place open and I just got into town." I eat Thai all the time, usually I share multiple dishes with my family. So with their pricing being above the average, I assumed it would be the expected amount of food. Not only is this the smallest portion of curry that I've ever seen in my life, the kid purposefully did not put broccoli in my dish. I asked him about it when I picked it up I said, did you put the broccoli in? He said "no" and I said why I ordered it. He said "oh well it's fine I didn't charge you for it." Instead of being apologetic. Additionally, when I got home, I saw that he purposefully filled the rice 1/4 full. It's just really frustrating that we spent $41 on food for three people and we are having to go home and eat chips to fill up because our portions aren't even enough to fill a child. Literally never go here, especially if they close within the hour. There are so many other options and now I'm wasting my time writing a review while I figure out what else I can eat in the house. read more

I love the food here. It's amazing!! 5 What I don't love is, & the real reason for 3 the fact that when you call in an order, it's basically impossible! If you get through, you feel you've got lucky... I was on hold for 31 minutes. Hung up and called back. BUSY...Tone...BUSY...Tone... BUSY...Tone! I showed up and asked, jokingly, "why was your phone busy, did you take it off the hook?! The girl said, "yes, we were busy and it was just me and her." I told her I was on hold for over 30 minutes. This is a place I visit regularly and love. The customer service is excellent and I've always had exceptionally friendly and accommodating waiters. The food is delicious and almost everything on the menu can be customized to be vegan. I always leave feeling full and happy! I've tried quite a bit on the menu and have loved everything, but my favorites that I recommend are: -spicy noodles with fried tofu -glass noodle salad with fried tofu -yellow curry with tofu. You can't go wrong with any of those! Definitely give this place a try. read more
